Delicious food. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great company. What else do you want?

We had a lovely meal at the Wirtshaus Galliker! Everyone was extremely welcoming despite us being some of the few tourists sitting at dinner. The food was delicious- I had the classic Weinersnitzel and my dad had the Liver and we finished it off with a wonderful Apple Strudel! Can’t recommend this place enough for some good local eats.

Always worth a visit! I love coming here with friends to enjoy this typically home-style Lucerne cuisine. The staff are always very friendly and the food is always fresh and fantastically presented. I also think it's very good value for money.

It's funny as I found this place as I asked. Chat GPT to give me the best restaurant in town for great food but not a fancy atmosphere and this was the top of the list. I read a bit about it and decided to go. She does a great, authentic Swiss restaurant. In fact, there were really not many tourists there and there was a lot of locals there showing that this is a good place for them as well. The food was really good and honestly top notch. The staff was super friendly even though English is not their forte and they worked really hard to make sure we were happy. We even had some of the locals come up to us and ask if we're doing good and how we're liking the city. As a few older buildings would be in Europe, the place really doesn't have air conditioning and doesn't have any air movement. So on really hot days as we were, it was a bit stifling after a number of people started piling in. We were super happy we found this place and we left quite pleased.

You must ask for Hannah, she is wonderful and extremely kind. The food is phenomenal. I had the cordon bleu and my husband the veal with mushroom sauce. I liked the veal better but the cordon bleu was also pretty good. Hannah deserves a big tip, don’t be skimpy!

What a wonderful delightful meal, just so homely and beautiful. One of the best!

Google
Authentic atmosphere with many locals around. The soup was delicious, the crust of the Cordon Bleu was lightly burnt - not that it would make it inedible, but I could feel the taste. Solid four stars!

Was lucky to be able to reserve for dinner on the day I reached Lucerne. You can tell its well loved by the locals as the place gets crowded very fast by the time its 6.30pm. Really love the quaint and elegant place, the architecture and ambiance makes up half of the lovely dining experience. Was served by a very friendly and nice staff by the name of Silvana who is from Brazil! She made us feel at home very immediately. The food is outstanding, loved the mushrooms in pastry shell, the cream sauce is just so top notch. Pork sausage in onion sauce is salty but I can taste the fragrance of the cameralised onions which goes really well with the rosti. The pork schnitzel is huge! And like what most people say, the fries are excellent. A pity we don't take beef as the rosti with veal and the Pot Au Feu comes highly recommended. As recommended by Silvana, the Swiss white Petite Arvine is excellent so please have a bottle to go with your dishes when you visit. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience!

Yelp
One of the top meals we had on the trip...and we have been having excellent meals. We still talk about this meal and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Lucerne. Started off with the appetizer size of the puff pastry with cream sauce, Lucerne style. This is also offered as a main if you prefer, but the menu is packed with delicious dishes. We also had a plate of the dried meats, Swiss style, which we polished off quickly. The beef stroganoff was lovely, not at all like the beef stroganoff I was familiar with from the US (with a gravy/creamy sort of sauce). This dish was also very quickly polished off and we actually ordered another main! This time we opted for the sliced veal with rostï and that was just as divine. Topped everything off with a little caramel flan. If I had stayed one more night in Lucerne, I would've gone back here to try more of their dishes. There's a reason they've been around for so long! The staff was so lovely and it was nice to see a lot of locals eating dinner there as well.

Yelp
WoW... just WOW!!! We had puff pastry w/cream sauce Lucern style, asparagus w/hollandaise sauce for our appetizers. So SO GOOD!!! Then for dinnerFilet stroganoff and Wienerschnitzel. Crazy Crazy good!!! Dessert was Carmel custard and apple strudel and both were the Perfect ending to a GREAT meal. We were nervous when we walked in, because it was empty, which usually isn't a good sign, however it slowly started filling up, and then we got our food, and immediately we knew we were in the right place. Two Very BIG thumbs UP!!!!

Yelp
Was incredible. Super friendly local spot. Warm traditional dishes and good wine. One of my favorite meals in Lucerne. We had the mushroom appetizer, beef stroganoff, bread veal with crème sauce and spaetzle (not sure of spelling), apple streusel, and caramel custard.

Yelp
I went there with my family in a. Attempt to try authentic Swiss food. This place is the right choice. The atmosphere is cozy and has the locals feel to it but there were some tourists like us. We do not eat pork but we still found veal options. The shell Pastry with mushroom sauce is a must try for authentic Swiss food. We got it with veal for me and also with vegetables for my daughter. For side item I suggest the rosti potatoes which are close to hash browns Swiss style. Yummy! The creamy mushroom sauce on flaky shell pastry is amazing!Great meal! My wife got the veal thin sliced place with groti and it was tasty. One son got the veal sausage and groti and the other got the kids spaghetti which is ok. The waitress was nice and tried to describe each plate in English as the menu was in Herman only. Prices of items we go ok per Swiss standards. There were many more pricy items. Overall was a pleasant experience.

Yelp
I arrived before 9pm on a Friday and kitchen was already closed. This is absolutrly ridiculous! There were plenty of customers eating as well as empty seats, and I could have finished eating before many other customera, but I guess the staff is too lazy.

Yelp
This is my first yelp review and I had to post because this was one of the best meals I had in Switzerland. If you're looking for traditional Swiss German cuisine, that's hearty and full of flavor look no further. I had the bone marrow, the mushroom tart, my friends and I shared the perch, the Wiener schnitzel and the roast pork. And every bite was better than the next. Family run place with a great rustic comfy vibe.

Yelp
Great food and amazing service. This is the real deal!!! I had the veal sausage and my wife had the Heute Pot au fue (think a light broth stew with meats, sausages, potatoes and bone marrow). The service was friendly and warm like you are visiting a relative.

Yelp
Man, this is one traditional place! Tuesdays and Thursdays they make stew with tongue, marrow, ham and sausage. Insane! The food is all rich and hearty. Def an experience but don't eat for at least 48 hours before coming here. Also, come after 1pm for lunch. They are super busy.

Yelp
This place is overpriced for the quality of the food and service provided. Be prepared to share seats at a long table, with no privacy, only to see lots of empty tables nearby. The food, while ok, was not worth the prices charged. Be ready to pay $4 for tap water, even though no such charge appears on the menu. You will find "mineral water" on your bill, which won't get removed even if you ask! There are better options to choose from in Lucern. Take your date elsewhere.

Yelp
A must for people who are skeptical about Swiss gastronomy. If you try it here for the first time, you'll surely love it.

Yelp
An absolute "MUST" if you love true and authentic Swiss cuisine!

Yelp
If you are looking for overpriced noodles accompanied by lukewarm service, then look no further: this is definitely your place. I dined alone in an almost empty restaurant. I was asked to move seats exactly four times to allow for bigger parties and groups. Mind you, at the time of my departure from this establishment, it was just as empty as when I had arrived. I was moved and sat directly next to a couple and another individual dining alone - again, in a quite empty restaurant. If you would like a glass of water... tap water... to go along with your meal, rest assured that that will also be a charge. This establishment might have once been grand, but that time has long passed. There are many wonderful restaurants in this fine city. I recommend that you check out, well, any of them. If you dine here and enjoy disappointment for dessert, don't say that you've not been warned. Bon appétit!

Yelp
Our best meal in Switzerland! We loved everything about this place. The atmosphere was cozy with a true family-owned feel and home cooking. My dad asked our waitress what her favorite thing was on the menu and she looked offended, like this is my family's restaurant, everything is the best. And she was right!! Not one person had a drop left on their plate. I think my Dad may have actually drank the gravy. Kidding, not kidding. We never order dessert, but didn't want our meal to end. A must stop in Luzern!
