We stayed three nights in Bogor and had trouble finding a somewhat nice budget accommodation. As Wisma Pakuan was listed in the Lonely Planet we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, we had to find out that the prices in the LP were outdated and the only room they wanted to give us was 330 000. We bargained them down to 300 000 (without AC), which was still too much in our opinion. But the room was clean, had a fan and a TV. The room itself was rather small but enough for us. There was also no hot water, which we really would have expected for that price. The breakfast is included but is very basic and indonesian style. Room service was done when requested. The staff was friendly, but not overly concerned. Laundry can be done pretty cheap down the street (ask the staff).||||The location is somewhat out of the centre, but close to a big road with lots of options for restaurants, minimarkets and streetfood around the corner. To the botanical garden one can take the minibus No. 6 or reach it in 25-30 min by walking. ||||Bogor is not really a nice city. Very dirty with bad air. The botanical garden is nice, but I enjoyed the Zooligcal museum more to be honest. If you are interested, go to the tourist information and book a trip to the Halimun Nationalpark with Adang. It was amazing - you will not regret it!

Beautiful, quiet and tranquil. Stayed for 3 nights with my family of 2 kids. The host a lovely lady of European descent runs the place, with some locals. ||||Nostalgic and the setting is very colonial. Very clean, better off than most hotels and the price is reasonable. Nice and sufficient set breakfast which you pre-order and serve hot. ||||Location is very good, easy access to eateries and shopping. ||||Would definitely come back again.

It's compact, tidy, and good service, but lack of water heater. A villa like hotel in the center of Bogor city. Good for small families or a budget traveler. Try to book for airy rooms in here bcs of so many complimentary they gave for each room.

We stayed there for 2 nights, as we found the address in the Lonely Planet.||When we arrived, it seems we were disturbing the guy at the reception. He was not really friendly and couldn't give us some informations about the city. He tried directly to sell us a tour with a private car, saying us that the buses where not going there or there.||The price seems to us too high, and when we tried to know was it was so high, he didn't gave us any explanation, just telling us that it was far. No possibility to negotiate. ||So finally we decided to go by our own to Puncak and the tea plantation. It was easy to find a mini bus going there and so much cheaper.||The room was ok, but too expensive for what you get. The breakfast wasn't so good, the noodles and eggs were cold.||Finally, it's a bit far from the center and there are not so much restaurants around. ||I think you can find a better place for the same price!

I stayed here for a few nights, and on the first morning I woke up to take a shower and it was still dark. I did not put the light on in the bathroom as the light in the garden courtyard was on and sufficient light was coming through (the room was on the ground floor overlooking the garden). By the side of my eye I saw a man outside the bathroom window, and when I turned to look, he swiftly escaped and swiched off the light in the garden courtyard. This was the older man who worked on the 24- hour reception, who knows when guests are taking a shower as the night before you have to request for the hot water to be turned on at a certain time. For the next morning I decided not to request for the water to be turned on and got up even earlier to take a shower. The lights in the garden courtyard were not on and after I finished showering, whilst combing my hair in the bathroom, I noticed the man from reception outside the window again staring into the bathroom after he switched the garden courtyard lights on. I could not believe it. When I left the room I saw him outside, he looked rather sheepish. The following morning I decided not to bother with having a shower, and the man was not on shift that day - probably as he knew he had been caught out. Also beware of the younger man who tries to take you on tours in his vehicle and also tells you that buses are not running to X destination, and that you must go by taxi. He further tries to encourage this by giving a very high price on the bus journey in a bid to tempt you to go with him. Finally, I had to make a very short call on the phone, where the reception man charged me an extortionate rate and talked/laughed with the child (I think his son) after taking my money.

Ok, but overpriced for what you get. Not easy to find at night. WiFi not working when we visited. RedDoorz booking only came through following morning, so discount not offered. Room was clean, but not comfortably appointed. Staff not generally helpful or courteous. Manager tried to persuade us to pay high price for tour guide. I'm sure there is better on offer in Bogor.

This villa is off the main roads and has an attractive courtyard as it's central focus.||Fairly quiet and suited to those not in a rush to get out early (breakfast at 7am).||The rooms are adequate, but not "comfortable" in that they are spartanly appointed, though clean.||Breakfast (an extra not offered via RedDoorz) is a simple affair of plain Nasi Goreng with Indonesian salad and crackers.||On asking for white coffee, I was told they have only black coffee; yet white coffee was delivered (??).||The room was offered by RedDoorz at IDR250K, but when we arrived the management denied receiving the booking and said we'd have to pay the normal rate (IDR295K).||After my Indonesian wife argued, we got the room and breakfast for IDR275K.||On discussing our plans for the following day, the manager offered his "friend" as a driver for the day, returning us to Jakarta for IDR650K, but we explained we were catching the train he dropped the price to IDR450K back to train station.||My wife then haggled him down to IDR350K.||Beware such tactics.
