Wolf Ridge Ski Resort

This is a small boutique ski resort, looks amazing after the remodel, they sure did a nice job. I was there twice snowboarding as well as for the NYE party. The party was amazing, great service, nice music and beautiful fireworks. The ski slopes were not all open, and still need some improvements. I’m looking forward to that. Overall a beautiful place. Restaurant looks amazing but I haven’t got a chance to try it yet, maybe next time.

This was my first visit since the new ownership, and I have to say, we had an incredible time. The lodge is absolutely stunning—you can tell a lot of effort and investment went into renovating it. The ski lift experience was enjoyable, and I really appreciated the convenience of the RFID technology for the ski passes. The slope has been noticeably improved from how it was before. I’m already looking forward to coming back soon!

Not sure they were really ready to open this week. Hoping it will get better. Pre purchased our passes but still had to wait over 35 minutes in line to get our cards since the outside kiosk was not working yet. Had an employee also try when we first got there and had to stand in line. Guy in front of us was paying with cash but they don’t take cash. I payed for him and he payed me the cash. Got the kids all set up with our own gear and when they got in line, one of the cards didn’t work. Had to go back inside. Went back out and got in line and the lift was malfunctioning. Lift was stopped for about 30 minutes. We got there at 958am and didn’t get first run until about 1115a. Wife and I were going to eat in the restaurant but it was closed. Pizza trailer was also closed . Only option was quick service style food . We went to town to eat. Lots of rock on the ramps from the parking lot to the lodge. Hopefully they will make them stairs in the future to make it easier. I had recent knee surgery and it was a challenge to get up the hills with all the rocks. A lot of the mountain was close but no fault to them. Can beat mother nature but the kids said they had a good time. We will skip it the rest of the season and go else where so they can maybe get some stuff in order as they go along. Would be nice to have a water fountain or two around .

We recently dined at Smoke and Timber at Hatley Pointe, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment I walked in, the warm, rustic ambiance and breathtaking mountain views set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The menu is a delightful blend of creative flavors and classic comfort, all prepared with care and a keen attention to detail. Every bite was a treat. The sides were just as impressive!! The greens are a must-try! What truly made the evening memorable was the outstanding service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. It’s clear that the team at Smoke and Timber takes pride in what they do. Whether you’re a local or visiting the area, Smoke and Timber is an experience not to be missed. This spot has quickly become one of my favorite places to enjoy a delicious meal in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful! We visited on a Saturday evening for the slope session starting at 5:30pm. Tickets booked in advance and followed GPS to get there. The facility is gorgeous and the staff were wonderful. 5 star Bathrooms- It may seem minor but it’s a surprisingly big deal. Stalls big enough to not struggle when you’re wearing ski boots, snow gear, and layers! Clean, easy to access, and well stocked. Nice areas to warm up and enjoy a snack or beverage during a break. A shout out to the friendly and hospitable ladies in the gear shop, South Knit. They had a nice selection of anything you might need and great treasures to remember your time on the mountain.

We had a fantastic experience on Christmas Day! I was so impressed with how seamlessly everything was running considering that they just recently opened for business. The grounds were decorated beautifully, and we were able to park just a few steps from the lodge. We were greeted by the nicest gentleman, and that friendliness followed with every staff member we encountered throughout the day. Once we checked in, we were able to purchase a locker to use for the day. Every area was so clean and well appointed. We made our way out to the lift and jumped on with no wait. I realize that there are limited runs available right now, but the snow conditions were great, and we never waited in line once throughout the day and evening. The lodge makes for a great place for non skiers and those taking a break to watch. It was dog friendly, the bar was open, the grill was going, and music was playing. It was a fun atmosphere with a great view of the ski hill. There were all kinds of extras from s’mores kits to juice and fresh baked Norwegian waffles. The lodge had many areas with comfortable seating and close proximity to a fireplace. Once we finished skiing for the day, we made our way up to Smoke and Timber for dinner. We were greeted by Seth, and he made us feel right at home. The food and service were excellent, and it was a fun way to end the day. From start to finish, we enjoyed every moment, and we will certainly be back. Thank you to all the staff at Hatley Pointe for making this a Christmas that our family will never forget!

Let me start by saying what they have done to improve the lodge and its space (ticketing, dining, restrooms, etc) is great. You can tell a lot of time, energy, and effort went in to improving this portion of the experience. Unfortunately, not enough focus is being put on the actual ski hill yet. Overall, this has been a pretty cold December and January so far (this past week has had all below average temps), which for the region is good since we tend to have fluctuating weather. We’ve also had a few dustings to help out. However, the slopes have very thin coverage and it doesn’t look like a lot of effort is being put into blowing snow while they can. This will likely hurt them later in the season if the snow-making focus doesn’t improve soon. I really hope they get to work on improving this because the place has so much potential and I appreciate what they have put into it so far. Update: We went back to Hatley Pointe over the weekend, just 6 days after the initial review above. In that time, they made significant progress on the snow conditions plus had 6 inches of natural snow. I may have been too quick to judge above - this place was awesome. They also cap the ticket sales and this makes a huge difference compared to the overcrowded hills in the area. Also I’d like the add that I think their food and drink prices are very fair. This is for sure our new go-to local mountain!

We are loving the atmosphere, food and drink at the Smoke and Timber! You can tell the owners are putting their heart and soul (and talent) into this place. Staff are warm, setting is upscale while approachable and the food… everything we’ve tried is a new favorite from the menue. Chef Victor knows how to get to a persons heart through his food. This is our new favorite.

This is a great ski resort for family with small kids, they have private and group ski lessons and children and adults. I booked the private lessons for my little ones and hubby, they all learned so much and got very comfortable after 1 hour lesson, great techniques. I love that the ski resort is smaller than all the other ones, family friendly with 2 different bunny slopes, great for kids to practice as first timer. Ski rental was efficient and we got our gears quickly. I recommend to buy the tickets and reserve the lessons online so you don't need to wait there. Overall, wonderful, fun experience despite the weather was rainy and foggy. We made the best out of our time at the resort. Highly recommended!

We had a great time, we arrived 30 minutes late for our snow tubing appointment and the person assisting us was super kind by letting us in even though they were booked with appointments. I recommend this places we had a lot of fun!

We came here for a long weekend and the "resort" fit our needs. With two young children who have only skiied twice before, this place was perfect. The price was fair for what you get and it is close enough to Ashville that we did not have to stay up at the mountain, although you certainly can. We bought lift tickets and rentals in advance on Liftopia and saved some money that way. The drive up is very pretty and there was plenty of parking. The pickup process was long as you have to purchase your ticket at a window and then wait in an unorganized line to pick up each piece of equipment separately. The snowboard area is down below and even less appealing. There are lockers for rent and one small lodge that offers cafeteria food. There is lots of seating though. They only had onw of the two lifts open when we were there so we did the same run over and over. There are multiple runs from this one lift, but they only had one run open. There are two magic carpets and those were crowded. The regular lift was not that bad given there was only one lift open. They were also making snow and that helped, but made it feel less authentic. Not sure we could have done more than two days here, but again, it was good for our needs.

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! There is absolutely ZERO social distancing, people are allowed to be bunched up on top of each other inside the rental lines to get your skis and boots and many were not wearing masks (including the staff)!!! On top of all of that, there was no organization and people were cutting in line to get skiis. Myself amd several others behind me in line complained to the staff about all the people cutting but the kid behind the ski counter just shrugged it off and told another customer that fights there happen all the time. After waiting 2 hours just to get my skiis, we decided we had had enough and left without asking for our money back because I was not about to wait in line again! Our reservations were from 1-4:30. Got there at 12:30 and left at 3!!! Get it together and get someone inside to manage the lines, the social distancing and the mask wearing!

I would give 0 stars if I could... Worst place I have EVER skied! We booked our tickets in advance and even though they only had one "trail" open, we couldn't get our money back. We also waited about 1.5 hours to get our rentals, which weren't set up properly, so we had to go back and get them adjusted. What a waste of time and money!

If you are looking for a fun place other than skiing. Check out Wolf ridge tubing down the Rd at 3461 puncheon rd. Not only will you have a fun time but a very hospitable visit. The man Tim that works there was very informational with the area and helped our little girl so much when her feet got too cold. please visit if you want some fun but not really ready to ski. This place would be recommended if you have young kids.

Terrible experience. Over the long weekend (Presidents' Day) there was only ONE HALF of ONE TRAIL open. Which meant long lines (almost an hour) for about 2 minutes of skiing on pure ice. The lift for most of the trails was broken. They still charged full price for lift tickets. There was trash everywhere (see photos for views from lift). I would not waste your money or time here.

We skied here during snow storm Izzy, thanks to my incredibly well-prepared #RhodeIsland husband. I highly recommend #WolfRidgeResort if you are vaccinated and boosted and happy to wear a mask when everyone else isn't. If it is snowing well, please drive only a 4WD vehicle; and, when it comes to driving in the snow, *please* choose being careful over having fun. Had fun first time on the slopes and skiing, not too beginner friendly with only 1 "bunny slope" which is basically for children. Staff where quite friendly and helpful. They do offer student discounts as well. But when I went to buy some food inside, they sold expired chips and when I went to take it back to hopefully grab another "good" bag they told me they don't offer refunds and couldn't give me another bag to replace the expired one...makes me rethink what else was expired. Overall okay first experience for the money.

The google and Yelp reviews are misleading, as is the website. Both boast at least 4 star reviews and the website lists 4 trails and several lifts open, however when I skied on 1/10/22, there was one lift and half a trail open. The conditions were icy- typical for southern skiing. The base depth on the website was listed as 36in. The only way they could have gotten that measurement was by measuring an ice bank outside of the lift... they barely have any snow cover. The rental equipment was subpar. My boyfriend rented snowboard equipment, the staff was very friendly but mediocre with equipment and fitting renters. Several pairs of boots were passed over the counter with rips and tears; one pair of boots had the uppers completely separated from the sole. Personally, I would not recommend anyone rent from here. If you're new to snow sports and live in the area, you will have a much better experience. This is a very beginner friendly mountain. Again, the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, the rest of the conditions (and mountain in general) were disappointing.

This place is terrible. Don't go here. I would give it 0 stars if possible. Unorganized staff, false lift availability claims. I would rather have the runs than go down these runs. Boom, roasted...

We paid premium Holiday Prices, but they were only operating at 30%. I get it it was warmer than usual. Ok cool. But you can't charge us full price if you are operating on less than 40%.

I went to the Wolf Ridge Tubing portion and it was my first time so I was excited. The hill wasn't as expected, seemed a lot shorter. Also I know dirt/land and water/snow make mud but it was everywhere. Also the standing ramp that takes you up to the top keep going out. But all in all, I had fun. Just make try to find another location.

I chose this ski resort because we were staying in black mountain, as a traveler I have been to many ski resorts and this was by far the worst one I have been to! Whoever made their website did a great job because it makes it look amazing, but it is very misleading! Their employees were not wearing masks. They were not social distancing. The cafeteria is one star, don't even know where their burgers came from. I would of rather drove another hour to go somewhere else! Their mountain was decent, a lot of dead grass everywhere and some patches. Seems like they needed to make some more snow and they didn't! The board and boot rentals were horrible. The snowboard rentals were down in the basement with like a dim light. Would not recommend save yourself the money and go somewhere else!

Nearly 90 minutes to process 50 people through the check-in line. What in the world? No staff in sight to tell anyone what was going on or why the line moved so slowly. I walked the complex asking about what to do since we prepaid and got several answers, each of which contradicted the other and none proved correct. 0 stars. We prepaid... why did we need to stand on line at all? 0 stars. The people providing boots and skis could have cared less. There were 6 people behind the ski counter, but 4 were cracking jokes and nothing more. 0 stars. There were no poles available. 0 stars. The ski instructor got rave reviews from my kid and gave me a quick review of progress made during the day. This person gets several stars... but this person wasn't wearing a mask. Neither was most of the staff.

We won't go back. The man behind the ski boot rental counter was rude and unhelpful. I had never skied before and didn't know what I needed, etc. The younger guys were way nicer and more helpful. They didn't have anything for my young son so we got his stuff from wolf den ski shop down the road and I wish we had gotten all of our stuff from there. The group class was pretty good but I definitely need more time to feel comfortable. My husband does a lot of skiing and the slopes were really icy, but he had a good time and went down most of the slopes. The lodge and outside were not social distanced at all, no one was wearing masks, even the people making food. The lodge was dark and old school, un clean. Bathrooms were trashed. Their parking lots and just general walkways etc were uncared for and very icy.

Unfortunately, it's just not lots of fun for adults and older teens. Good for younger kids. At the price, we thought it would be more of an adventure. And they offer no refunds if you get there, see it for the first time, and aren't thrilled with what it looks like. There was a rather long line to get back up each time as well.

Once again - what a great time. Small lift lines, good features, pleasant staff and ease of access of the interstate. Once again, Noah Sloan was an amazing instructor for our daughter.

Cute little ski resort with very friendly staff. This was our first time every skiing and we had a great time. Out instructor really helped and by the end we were all doing great on the bunny slopes. I do wish there was a slope between the bunny and the high ski slope. But overall we all had a great time and we loved that it wasn't very busy.

This place was amazing. It's old school, the parking lot was all mud and there is no beer. BUT the price is right, it's cozy and clean inside, they have decent food at good prices and the slopes are amazing. When going to the larger surrounding slopes, you are hit with a huge price, huge crowds and food that breaks the bank. Don't come here for fancy accommodations and high end food. Come here if you want to ski great runs, at a good price!

No organization whatsoever. Workers are far from reliable when it come to their workspace.

This place is NOT at the ski resort. I would recommend it if you have VERY young kids -under 3 or so- and even then an hour is more than plenty. There were no lanes, no visible staff members outside at all. The "magic carpet" that pulls you up wasn't wide enough for the tubes, and it kept shutting off.... But it was only a 1 minute walk to the top and maybe 10 seconds to get to the bottom.... Underwhelming to say the least. We had all ready prebooked and prepaid, so we stayed and did it.... But only after seriously discussing whether we should just leave and try to get a refund from our credit card company.

So much fun! A great snow tubing place! It is very laid back and there are no lanes so you don't have to wait long to tube!

I skied for the first time on Sunday at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort in Mars Hill, NC. So that should be a barometer as to what kind of perspective my review is coming from. Ergo, I have nothing to compare this ski resort to (from personal experience). Bibs are $15 to rent and helmets are $10. Since I spent most of my time on the bunny slope, I decided to forgo the helmet. Helmets are recommended for snowboarders. We got a group rate of $34 for the lift tickets and skis were $15 to rent (snowboards $29). We took a one-hour beginner's class with Michael from New Mexico. Michael was a nice and relaxed dude. He was very patient with our group. In one hour, he just taught us the bare minimum: the wedge (or pizza), the pointed inward angle you make with your skis in order to slow down and control your speed. We started with one leg, then the other, then both. Then we took turns down the bunny slope, getting a feel for skiing. He did teach us a few safety tips (e.g. how to fall -- not on your butt) and how to turn, but that's about it. He did *not* teach us how to get up after falling. I went through the entire beginner's class and several trips down the bunny slope without falling. However, when I did eventually fall, it was quite a challenge sometimes getting back up. Several of us got confident (cocky?) after dominating the bunny slope. I know I did. So we were enthusiastic to ride the lift up and try the intermediate slope. First, the lift. Nobody told me how to use the lift, so when I sat down on it and started going up, I did not bring the safety harness down. At amusement park rides, the safety harness usually comes down automatically. Not at Wolf Ridge's lift. So I went up about a quarter of the mountain before I decided to try and pull the bar down. Second, the intermediate station. On Sunday, people riding the lift had the option to get off at the mid (or intermediate) station or the top station. The intermediate station had a confusing handwritten sign that led beginners to believe the intermediate station was really the expert station. So instead of getting off at the intermediate station, I rode all the way to the top of the mountain where the expert station was located. At that point, there was no turning back. I spoke with one of the safety crew, Billy, and told him I was a beginner. He decided to follow me down the expert slope to the intermediate station to make sure I was OK (thanks Billy). It's a good thing he followed me because I fell and tumbled every which way down the expert slope. It was embarrassing, exhausting, and funny. My confidence from the bunny slope was immediately squashed. I can't tell you how many times I fell and wiped out. I slid on my butt most of the time. You're not supposed to slide on your rear end, but I did it intentionally just so I could get down the dang mountain. I also slid on my chest, face, side, spinning clockwise, counterclockwise, flipping over, you name it. I'm lucky I didn't get injured. I was way in over my head. The most humiliating thing about it was the little kids that were killing it down the expert slope. I saw two 10-year old girls go down it like it was nothing. A little boy snowboarder grabbed one of my poles that I had lost during one of my 200 wipeouts and brought it down to me. Nothing like little kids schooling you. Aaron D. made the same mistake as me and rode all the way to the top station. He didn't fall nearly as many times as me, though he did crash into a pole. He said the entire expert slope was "terrifying." I get a chuckle everytime I think back to him just as he went over the edge and down the slope in his permanent wedge. He looked frightened for his life. By the time I made it to the intermediate station, I was mentally and physically exhausted from the expert slope. I fell quite a few times on the intermediate slope, but mainly because I could barely stand anymore. I didn't have the energy. [Expert tip from Daniel B: DO eat something, like breakfast, before a day of skiing. I skipped breakfast - bad idea.] I walked for part of the way down the intermediate slope before I realized I would expend more energy walking than skiing. I took a bit of a break before snapping on my skis for the home stretch, which I eventually made through smoothly. I refueled at the lodge, though I didn't realize how overpriced their food was. A simple cheeseburger was $5 and a hot dog was $3. A combo meal was $8, which was basically a burger, fries, and a small fountain drink (no refills). Yikes. You may want to think about packing your own food. The selection at the lodge also doesn't vary much (they also serve pizza and chicken tenders). In the end, I had a lot of fun at Wolf Ridge and thought it was a great introduction to skiing. I can't wait to ski again!

A nice place close to home and a good place for a day trip to go snowboarding and enjoy snow activities. The drive from Atlanta is very scenic and peaceful and allows for good family time. There is a saying that it's not about the destination that matters but the journey and this was somewhat the case for the trip to Wolf ridge. I recommend this place for beginners novice and intermediate skiers and snowboarders as the slopes are pretty good and the ski lifts are decent as well. The reduction of stars comes from the place being a little bit no diversity as there were very few people of diversity that were here and it seems to come with the territory. There were a couple of rude patrons that made me speak my mind as they were a bit racist in their actions and attitude. I have no experience for the food but they seem to have a lodge where you can buy food. The other negative that I saw about this place is that there is very poor signage from the rental and entrance to the ski slopes. We had to figure it out ourselves and it's about a 3-minute walk from the entrance so not that big a deal. four Yelp stars and we plan to return on the regular and tell all our friends and plan more day trips here. The price is reasonable and the location is great. Thank you for being here

The lady who did my daughters private instruction was amazing. It was the busiest day of the year and we had booked a 2 hour private lesson. She taught her as if noone else was there. Meaning she was solely in tuned with her needs. She was amazing wish I could rate higher. My daughter is 12 and a competition gymnast and picked it up fairly easily. The instructor even took her up the lift onto the bigger part of the mountain. She had a blast. The lines were long to get equipment. Total process was about an hour start to finish, but instructor made it well worth it. Daughters name is Bethany, hope this gets back to her instructor. She even took video for me of her on upper mountain. We were there Monday for a 1 to 3 lesson.

This is my first Yelp review but would give 0 stars if possible We went on a Saturday and Sunday and prebooked online for lift tickets and snowboard rentals. After waiting in line for an hour (and given no direction as to what the line was for), we were informed that the prebooked snowboard rental does not guarantee an actual snowboard and that we would NOT be receiving our booked snowboards. The owner acted like it was a one time fluke but after speaking with a nearby ski rental shop, we learned that this situation happens frequently. Clearly, the owner is intentionally taking advantage of not guaranteeing pre-booked rentals. COVID-19 precautions were NOT in place at all. None of the employees (most of whom were in their early teens) were wearing masks or respecting social distancing. Regarding the snow conditions, only half of their runs actually had snow on them despite them reporting that all lifts were open and there was lots of ice on the runs at the top of the mountain. This place is cheap but definitely not worth it.

This place is not part of the ski resort and if it is, they need to revamp it ASAP. I was incredibly disappointed when I arrived. We were taking our niece to see "snow" for the first time. It was VERY small and dirty. No one was on top of the ramp to help push you down. They were nice enough to refund me an hour because I had booked for two hours. There's no automatic ramp. It's just a mess. The parking area is muddy. Go down the street to Zip n slip. It's a lot bigger and nicer. I don't know what they put on the ice, but my daughter's Ugg's and my husband's leather boots are completely stained.

We flew from Florida for my birthday this month looking forward to skiing for the first time ever. The whole back woods area of NC looks pretty dumpy (imagine a junk yard in the mountains), so the scenery on the way there was just that. However, we hoped the ski lodge would be a different change of pace... it was not. I'll start by saying that parking is ample so no issue there. We had lessons at 1 p.m, the ticket window opened at 1230, we were 3rd in line. It took us 1 hour to gather our supplies due to the slow moving, and extraordinarily disorganized and ill prepared staff (and by staff I mean ONE human) serving many many people. It goes without saying that they are customer service skills also we're lacking when it came to helping us get our supplies together. During these trying times with Covid, do you think they will be a little bit more cognizant of the cleanliness of their facility. We were given bibs and supplies that were passed off from the previous user, completely filthy! I mean covered in mud. There was zero organization to guide us in where to go, where our instructors were located, I mean we were completely on our own figuring things out. The ONLY positive comment I have is regarding the friendliness of the ski instructor. For that we were grateful. Overall, avoid this dump.

When we pulled in we were greeted with the wonderful smell of livestock excrement. This place is not a hill for snow tubing it's a 12 foot plywood deck but they push snow up against and charge you $30 an hour to slide down and then carry your tube back up a flight of stairs to repeat the process. A colossal waste of money and time. I'm sure the ski resort is much better but the snow tubing sucks.

Tim was super accommodating to get my group in the time we preferred with a large group . Fun for our group of boys 7- 11 yrs and the adults. The hill is shorter than expected , but still super fun for everyone.

The staff was extremely polite, patient and so much fun. Yes the looks are a bit a bit deceiving with the mud and parking. But DID YOU SNOW TUBE? ABSOLUTELY. Even the other guests were so pleasant. My six year old had a blast. The owners wore masks and as fas as other guests...just stay with your crew. The owners even suggested dinner at Twisted Lauren and another spot. Also delicious

Considering it was not the dead of winter this place was still a huge hit. The slopes were fun with only a few ice patches. The staff was helpful and they were more than willing to make your gear fit like it should. Overall a great time. Food options could be better but I was not there to eat.

Honestly, this ski resort is perhaps the smallest of the ski resorts in NC. But it has its advantages as a small family owned ski resort. It's got more slopes and it tends to not be as busy. Plus, it's the closest ski resort to Atlanta. Unlike Cataloochee, Wolf Ridge (now called Wolf Laurel) is closer to other attractions like Asheville and hot springs. Cataloochee is a little more isolated and not close to as many attractions. There are nicer cabin options near Wolf Ridge, whereas Cataloochee does not have as many cabin options. The downfalls to Wolf Ridge is some of the slopes are a little more narrow. The ski lodge is small and unlike Cataloochee, does not have a full-dining area. It's still a great place to ski and you can't beat the 20 minute vicinity to Asheville.

Around $53, you can buy a lift ticket, rent a ski, and a locker for a day. They have a really relaxing lodge, with a fireplace to warm yourself up. Shout out to employee Noah Mcwilliams for making the most of my experience today.

Great time and well organized. Friendly staff. Even though the weather was warm they had a decent amount of snow for tubing. They could of maybe added more as the deck started to become scarce of snow. All in all a good time.

As far as the tubing goes after 30 mins. (we paid for 2 hrs.) kids were ready to go their 7 and 10. It seemed more like a hill you would find around town or in your yard. We've snow tubed at other places and should be stated as a sledding hill. Most of the snow had melted and when you would slide down we didn't get very far.

Wouldn't recommend this ski resort. It is very unorganized and there's little to no help from the staff. The equipment is faulty, my first pair of skis and boots were both broken. Then after getting them replaced and my boyfriend and I started skiing, his skis broke. Later a piece of his boots broke off, it was just very inconvenient and could've been dangerous. Pros: the slopes were challenging and inside the lodge: food and drinks were available for purchase.

We were excited to go skiing as a family for the first time. The Facilities are not in the best condition. The staff was not very friendly or providing information on what to do or where to go next. We kept having to ask questions. Having to dig thru a very unorganized pile of ski poles was very frustrating and unpleasant. The ski lessons was a lot of fun and enjoyable. Overall, it was okay... but not a great experience.

We had a great time! The people working here were awesome!!! We took our three grandsons and they had a really good time! We booked for two hours and that was perfect!

Very impressed with this ski resort! The staff was very helpful and personable, my friends all took a ski lesson and seemed to be very helpful and they felt ready for the slopes. We cannot wait to come back and are all getting season passes. I have been skiing a couple of times and the experience and slopes were so much better and great for beginners as well as a lot of other paths for non beginners. Plus, I live less than an hour away so I Am excited to have a new activity to do!

This review is a tough one for me. The staff was beyond friendly, especially out on the slopes and our instructor took the time to make sure we were comfortable and ready to get going on our skis. We were treated well and the resort overall had a nice little "family" environment. That said, the equipment was old, poles were completely disorganized, the rental process was chaotic (I'd recommend getting there at least an hour before you actually plan to ski if you are planning to rent equipment) and the resort was insanely busy. You are constantly looking around and watching your back because the snowboarders fly uncontrollably down the mountain. The bottom half of the slope was filled with some pretty nice powder but the top half felt more like ice skating than skiing (which is quite the adventure for a Floridian LOL). This place does okay overall and their staff really makes the place what it is but they could really streamline the rental process and get some new equipment more than anything. Constantly struggling to click into your skis and having staff mention the need for new equipment is FRUSTRATING. Unless those things were fixed, I don't think I'd go back to this resort and if I could have asked for my money back, I likely would have. Hopefully they can fix these things in the future!

Great place to ski is very fun and impressive it's been 5 years in a row we have come to ski here and we love it friendly staff very nice people are very nice and honest and they go out of their way to help you very cool people and the place it's great for beginners or advanced

This was my girls first time skiing. They did an exceptional job! We will def be back. We arrived very early. Every staff member was very friendly and in a good mood. It wasn't overly crowded so I wasn't concerned with Covid. All the skiers who did come were also friendly and happy. They both took lessons one snowboarded & the other skier and their instruction was wonderful. My daughter who skied was ready to go up on the lift right after her lesson but a little worried and one of the ski patrol men (Paul) rode up with her and went at her speed and stayed with her the entire time so she wouldn't get lost or feel scared. He also showed her tips on how to be a successful skier. I can't thank the staff enough for making their first ski trip such a success. And also making us feel so welcome!!

I was disappointed. We booked tickets and gear in advance and on the day we skied they ran out of rentals. My husband booked a snowboard and they did not have any left when we arrived in the morning. We found the gear subpar. It was enjoyable to ski a half day but we will not be returning. The workers even commented how the ski slope was run poorly. Definitely fell far below what I was expecting.

Not the worst experience ever but not the best either. We had a large group of 8 people and only 2 of us had skied before. This is definitely not a place for beginner. Employees in the rental area are rude and not helpful. We ordered everything online and they had ran out of lockers and ski bibs when we got there and all they offered us was a credit and no refund. This wasn't at all helpful since we live far away. They also shut done the easiest slope half way through the day and never turned it back on which was very inconvenient for our inexperienced group members. It was overall a very disorganized experience. The other experienced skier and I had an okay time but the others pretty much wasted their money since the east slope shut down. This place has potential but there's a lot that needs to be worked on

I just felt the need to post this review as the Wolf Ridge Lodge Ski Resort is misleading. This is NOT the beautiful ski resort pictured on the website. This is down the street somewhere with a very small hill. A smaller hill than the tubing place we passed on the road before getting here. They require only reservations 24 hours before the day so you don't have time to reserve and back out. And they are non-refundable so you cannot get your money back when you get here and see the one you passed down the street is bigger. It's a pretty big bait and switch. It's settled in the middle of a junk yard with the smell of animal poop wafting over you as you tube down. There are two donkeys tied up next door. And they burn a huge fire on cold days that the smoke causes you to gag as you are tubing. The reason I am giving three stars rather than 1 is that the people running the place are super nice and friendly, and it was nice they allowed 5 and under free. My 3 year old would probably not been able to tube anywhere else so that was nice. Also my kids did have a blast! My main complaint is that they are deceiving people on their website. They should just say who they are and charge less. There is still a market for that. They do not supervise whether you crash at the bottom of the hill and you have to carry your own tube back up to the top. Just an FYI before you pay online before you get there. We drove an hour away to get there to be a little disappointed. Also, their snack shack is literally a shack, not a restaurant. Nice for locals but too much money and effort for people coming from out of town.

I was apprehensive about visiting Wolf Ridge based on the mixed reviews but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised overall by our experience there this past weekend. There are a few issues with the lodge, mainly the fact that it hasn't been updated since it was built. Therefore its crowded, dark, and chaotic. Staff told us that they will be updating it in the near future so take that into consideration. The rental process went pretty smoothly considering it was the busiest day they've had all year. A couple of cool things to note- you can rent a locker for $5 and a helmet for $10 and you get your deposit back. You can also switch your rental from snowboard to ski with no problem. These were no brainers to me. The staff are young but they're so genuine and so helpful. They asked my son what his favorite color was when we went to rent a snowboard and came out with a board in that color. It was a small gesture but a nice one. Wolf Ridge is a great place for a beginner. They have a bunny hill that it great for starting out. Once you advance past that, they have a magic carpet. This was great until about 1 pm. At that point it got so crowded and people were standing on the slope- (WTF??) in the middle of the slope. The kids we were with decided that it was time to try the lift so we moved on. Yes, the lines for the lift were ridiculous, but there's a trick. If you know how to read a map I suggest you do so. You'll be rewarded with lifts sans lines and a nice couple of green trails that are perfect for beginners. Oh, and the best part? NOT CROWDED. I can't give my secrets away, so you'll have to figure it out yourself, but trust me, it's not hard. Overall, we had a great time and are seriously considering going back next year to stay in a cabin and go for more than a day.
