If you’re searching for an unforgettable Korean BBQ experience in Seoul, Wolhwa Sikdang (월화식당) is an absolute gem that you cannot miss. I recently visited and was blown away by their unique signature dish: the beeswax-aged pork belly.
The meat itself is a culinary masterpiece. The beeswax aging process creates a depth of flavor that is far superior to standard pork. Every bite was incredibly fragrant and bursting with juices. To elevate the meal, I highly recommend ordering the grilled cheese and minari (water parsley). The cheese was served perfectly semi-melted and gooey, providing a rich, creamy contrast to the savory meat, while the fresh, aromatic minari added a wonderful crunch and brightness that balanced the richness of the pork belly perfectly.
What truly sets this place apart, however, is the service. The staff members are exceptionally polite and attentive. They handled the grilling for us, ensuring the pork was cooked to absolute perfection—crispy on the outside while remaining tender and succulent on the inside. You don’t have to worry about a thing; just sit back and enjoy the feast.
