Wollaton Hall

My son, a 3 year old obsessed with animals, LOVED this place and was sad to leave. In some ways he probably enjoyed it more than the zoo as the animals are completely visible. There were a lot of interactive aspects from books to read, puzzles and fancy dress to animal sound buttons, diorama making screens and microscopes. The grounds are beautiful. We went on a random Monday in Feb so it was quiet and cold meaning we mainly stayed inside the house. Some animals labels are tricky to see which is one thing that would improve it. The only thing people should really consider is accessibility. The walk up is on the steep side and to enter the house there are a few steps. There is a "pram parking" area but it has no cover to protect them from the rain and are not protected in anyway. It is literally just a sign outside. No safer than choosing to leave it anywhere else outside.

T Rex? You have a T Rex? Wollaton Hall Natural History Museum is an absolute gem. The exhibitions are beautifully presented, mixing classic Victorian charm with modern, engaging displays. Parking at Car Park 3 is closer to the hall, while Car Park 1 is more convenient if you want to go to the playground. The weekday charge is £5, and £6 for the whole day on weekends. Although the place is quite small, there are still many natural exhibits and fossils to see inside.

Wolloton Hall looks magnificent from a distance, and when you walk towards it across the lush, green grass, it's beauty unfolds. The estate supposedly covers 500 acres, and includes a deer range, a lake and tall, sturdy trees of all kinds. Ample parking space is available, and there are toilets too. If you need to get into shape, a jog along the pathways will help, and the pure air is good for your pet also. Satisfaction guaranteed, I believe.

We went to the Winter light trail it was great and took us 2hrs to complete the trail. It was a little bumpy underfoot so if you have mobility issues be careful. But it's worth going.

Went to an outdoor movie for hocus pocus and its was AMAZING! I need to go to more Wollaton events because im never disappointed. I also went to the country music festival here over the summer and it was a blast! I’ve been inside and it was lovely. The grounds are free though.

I recently visited Wollaton Hall, and it exceeded my expectations. The historic building is absolutely beautiful, and the park around it is vast, green, and very calming. The scenery is perfect for walks, photos, and enjoying nature. The atmosphere feels peaceful and welcoming, making it a great place to spend a few hours. A must-visit place for history and nature lovers.

I visited for the winter light trail. I arrived by bus, the walk to the hall was not very clear. Entrance to trail was also a bit unclear. The food area was too busy with no enough seating. The light trail was nice.

Wollaton Hall is a superb Tudor-era mansion on a small but notable hill a little north-west off the city centre of Nottingham. It is home to a natural history museum caught in time, i.e. given today's plethora of information and entertainment in the form of TV/cinema documentaries, not really exciting or essential any more. Still, the architectural minutiae, the lovely surrounding deer park and the occasional special events - such as the vintage cars and bikes display when I was there - merit a visit. The architecture of Wollaton Hall is terrific, but the museum inside is quite a bit dated and truly feels like an old style museum trapped in time. Good thing then, that when I visited in early October, there was a congregation of collectors of classic cars and bikes, which added tremendously to the overall excitement. The deer park is as vast as it is attractive. All of these are/were free of charge, and there are several cafés strewn across the grounds. There is also an industrial history museum. Since Nottingham is rather short on attractions (there's Nottingham Castle, and not much beyond that!), Wollaton Hall is the runner-up!

As Yee Gan says, Wollaton Hall is a complete bargain! For the price of a parking ticket, you can wander around the beautiful deer park, gardens and peek inside Wollaton Hall itself. We didn't intend to visit the main hall, but as we walked around the grounds, I found someone's car keys - Eep! This meant we had to find staff to give them to. **I hope the citroen driver finds his car!!** I came here with my boyfriend's family. His mum mentioned that she brought her family yeeears ago, and remembered that the hall was a bit dusty and full of stuffed animals. This describes it perfectly! There is a huge room with walls covered with taxidermy mounts, and glass cases full of dead animals. So...interesting, if you'd like to see some of Africa's great beasts and birds... but a little creepy. Ooooh! I nearly forgot to mention the most important part! The Hall is going to be Batman's home in the 'Dark Knight rises' movie. So you can visit batman-land, before you see the film. (^^)

I was meeting a friend in Nottingham and we were looking for somewhere to go for a walk and kill some time. A little research online threw up Wollaton Hall and Park, located close to Sat Bains' restaurant, where we were having dinner. Amazingly, entry to the park and the impressive Elizabethan mansion, previous home to the Willoughby family is totally free. The only fee is for parking, which is hardly arduous at £2 for 3 hours or £4 for the whole day The 500 acre grounds apparently house deer though we never found that area! We did have a nice walk around the lake with its attendant wildlife. There are benches dotted around the park to rest weary legs The mansion itself houses Nottingham City Museum & Galleries Natural History Collection, an impressive array of plant and animal specimens. There are also other curios like what is probably the oldest pipe organ in England Outside, the Nottingham Industrial Museum is also based here and on the last Sunday of every month, the Arkwright Society run Steaming Sundays, where some of the vintage tractor and other agricultural equipment is fired up for a drive I can recommend this place highly and not just because my Chinese Thrift Gene was satisfied!

Superb Tudor/Elizabethan hall with 500 acres of grounds including a lake and adjacent golf course. Was the location for the Batman Dark Knight Rises movie and has Batman related activities for children at the hall. A random museum inside the hall houses stuffed animals including a giraffe and gorilla, stuffed birds and an insect collection - again, lots of bits aimed at children. Lovely cafe serving sandwiches, salads, soup, jacket potatoes and cakes. Brand new play ground with zip wire and good selection of swings, massive slide and other equipment for all ages.
