Wombats has the nicest staff to assist with all of your needs. Excellent service when something is wrong ie bunk fan not working. |The entire facility is very clean and they do daily room cleaning. |We stayed in a 4 bunk female room with en suite. |The lockers are secure, beds comfortable, sheets included and towels available for rent. |If you need a hair iron or dryer it’s 10gbp deposit which is returned when you return the item. |Wash/Dry is 5gbd per w/d, so 10gbp total. |Cure cafe for coffee and light pastries for breakfast to purchase. The breakfast for 8gbp is decent, but simple I was told. We didn’t try it. |Community kitchen is cleaned every Tuesday, but be prepared for little room in the fridge for storage. Every item you need for cooking a meal is there, with some free food items left from previous guests. |Location is in the middle of 2 underground stations approximately 10 minute walk to either. |Overall a very exceptionally experience for being our very first hostel!! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic. Booked a full 8-bed dorm with friends, and we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and clean the room was. Despite being 8 people, the room never felt cramped or stuffed. The beds are big and comfortable, and I loved that there were 2 sinks available to use. The lockers have hangers inside and there were plenty of shelves, hooks and areas to "place stuff", which feels like the rooms were designed by people who actually use hostel rooms. The cafe area downstairs is great and well-decorated. The check-in and check-out processes were quick and simple. I 100% recommend this hostel, and it is now my first option whenever I come to London.

Wombat’s City Hostel in London exceeded expectations in many ways. The common areas were exceptionally clean and well maintained, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Our room had comfortable beds, as well as a private shower and toilet – a real bonus for a hostel stay. Everything felt modern and in good condition. Downstairs, the breakfast area is set in a beautiful historic space with lots of character. The breakfast itself was a great deal at just £8, with plenty of choice and a nice setting to start the day. Overall, this hostel offers excellent value for money. I can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for affordable, comfortable accommodation in London.

I’ve been to a couple of hostels and unfortunately this is my least favorite. The biggest ick was the hostel reusing bed sheets and duvets (not white btw but purple with design that are old and dingy) that had pee and period stains. The sheets are not fitted for the bed. We’re provided two flat sheets and one of them has to be used to cover the mattress. We also had to make the beds. The hostels I’ve been to come with beds freshly made so I was surprised Wombat does not do that. We give a three star for friendly employees, well kept hallways and lounges. Also, for changing our room after we were in a room with no proper ventilation, that was hot and stuffy. The guy who helped us, tried his best to find us a better room and he did. We appreciate that! But even changing rooms, sheets and duvet had the same issue. We refused to use the duvet which they ask guests to leave on the bed and only remove the sheets when checking out. Makes me guess those comforters are reused without washing after every guest 🤮 I wouldn’t stay here again.

Good hostel to stay a few days, beds are comfortable compared to other hostels. For London it was quite cheap even though it’s still quite pricey. Room could be cleaned a bit more frequently. Staff is kind but they act like they don’t care much and don’t give complete information. I wasn’t asked a single time to pay cash on London, but here to rent adapters and hair driers you had to leave a cash deposit.

We had a great stay at Wombats Hostel, finding it to be clean and comfortable, within walking distance of major attractions in central London. The rooms were quiet too, which was a bonus. We had 2 x 8 private bed dorms for a group of 16 and found the rooms to be spacious and had adequate facilities (charging points, fans and seperate toilet/shower were a bonus). Would definitely stay again!

Great hostel near Tower Bridge, easy to reach via public transport (Tower Hill station). The beds have curtains (amazing for a little privacy even in a shared room). For an additional fee you can store your luggage for up to 24h and there is a nice common space. The people working there are nice and everything was clean. Only thing I didn't like: there was only one sink in my shared room (it had an ensuite) and it's in the same room as the shower. The toilet is in another room, so if you want to wash your hands and someone is showering, you have to wait for them to use the sink.

On my recent trip to Europe, this Wombat hostel location was the best hostel we stayed in. A friend and I stayed in the all female, 6-bed room. Each bed has a lock box in the bed area, a shelf, a couple of outlets near the shelf, and a separate locker you can use your card for. The bathroom and shower was in the room, and all of these things were a major plus. The showers are pretty great too. The coffee and croissants at WomBar are delicious, the bar in the basement has a really cool aesthetic and friendly bartenders, and there is laundry on site available. The area of London it is located in is convenient for tube and bus use, and isnt a far walking distance from the Tower of London or Tower Bridge. I would stay here again.

3-night stay in 4-bed mixed dorm in March/April The cafe area was so cute! When we arrived mid afternoon, there were so many people milling about on their laptops or chatting. It gave a pleasant feel. This is also the area you check-in at. The front-desk staff were very friendly and walked us through how to use our key cards and where things were located. The room looked like a dorm room, as expected, with bunk beds and lockers. We also had a private bathroom and shower, which I was pleasantly surprised about. We couldn't get the A/C to work, so we had to keep the windows cracked at all times. It would've been nice to be able to open the window completely for more airflow as it got stuffy/warm often. The beds are a place to sleep... don't expect much comfort. Loved the basement common areas! So much space and unique places to sit. It is also a bar at night with karaoke and lots of people mingling. Overall, it was a clean and fun hostel experience.

I and my wife got the whole room for ourselves and this was during the two day heat wave. So, there is no option to book AC rooms while booking on their website and apparently they have AC rooms but it's random. You are either lucky enough to get it or not. I don't thinks that's fair. Room service is not prompt. And the restrooms and the rooms stink. Absolutely no ventilation in the restrooms. The only solace is the bar in the basement which has some nice vibe but watered down drinks. The Wombats at Budapest was 10 times better and that's the reason I chose to stay here, but I'm disappointed.

A mixed bag for my stay at Wombat's. Overall it is fine, the social aspects help pick it up, but can't say I loved it. Stayed 4 days/3 nights in mid-October. More info below: Pros- Lots of rooms. Friendly bar staff. Fun/social environment in the basement where their pub is. Games and things to do in the hostel. Pub trivia on Tuesdays. Plenty of space to hang out or work from the basement or front entrance area. En-suite bathroom. Smart lockers that can hold a full-sized checked bag. Big kitchen with 4 fridges. Daily breakfast. No need to go out at night with an in-house pub. Cons- Room was smelly and dirty on arrival, had to ask for housecleaning to come. Lots of leftover things from people who left days prior. You have to make your own bed and I wasn't given the proper linens. Bunk beds are okay, but the ladder is in the middle. Paper thin pillow, I am glad I brought my own...seriously the worst pillow ever as it's about 1 finger thick. Lockers are good to hold a bag, but nowhere/no space to put the rest of your things like a drawer. The reception staff who checked me in gave me no details on anything beyond my room key, bed tag, and checkout info. Didn't know about how to use the locker, that I had to make my bed, any amenities, or really much info. The 4 fridges in the kitchen were never cleaned out, were overflowing with food/bags, and smelled gross. Warm water in the shower, not terribly hot. Though there are 2-3 things they host per week (trivia and yoga), nothing social during the day or night like walking tours, pub crawls, dance nights, etc. Not a terrible area, but it is a good walk to the nearest bus stop or tube station. Overall a 7/10 is what I'd rate Wombats. I'd consider coming back for the social aspects but will probably check out another hostel instead.

I absolutely LOVE Wombats! Their hostels are so fun, clean, and always in a great location. I stayed in a 6 bed Ladies' dorm with en suite bathroom. The bathroom was great- it had a large rain shower head and felt more like a hotel bathroom than a hostel bathroom. The beds were equipped with plenty of charging ports. I was lucky to have awesome roommates- we had a great time staying up late, chatting, and sharing our experiences with each other. When I had a hard time finding a bed for the next night after deciding to stay a day longer, the front desk even helped me find another place with vacancy and made recommendations. 11/10 would definitely stay again! Tip: If you're an early bedtime person, get earplugs from the front desk if you don't already have them. It can be a little noisy if you're on a lower street-facing floor, as folks gather on the sidewalks to smoke and chat on their way home.

Nights made easy by staying here. 6 bed co-ed dorm makes sharing a bathroom a little tough in the morning but there are plenty to use downstairs need be. The bar in the basement is a great addition and allows for a cool social environment.

For my very first hostel experience, Wombats made it a great one! The entire place is so new and modern with hints of hipster vibes. My group of 4 had our own room, so no sharing which was nice. There is a good amount of space and I liked that the toilet was separate from the shower in the rooms, so two people can do their business without waiting for the bathroom. The biggest downside was how insanely hot it was in the room. It was cooler in the hallway. We had to leave the windows open the entire time, which still didn't help that much. They had mini fan rentals, but the fan was rather weak and noisy. For each bed, there was an outlet and a USB charger. Although this was convenient, the outlet had a stand underneath, which didn't allow my converter to fit. I ended up having to use my friend's converters to charge my camera and curl my hair. There should also be another outlet in the bathroom too as I had to curl my hair from my bed. But aside from that, it was an overall nice and spacious stay. The people at the frontdesk were super helpful even providing an iron for me. They also have a bar in the basement, which was a pretty chill place to hang out with great happy hour specials.

terrible rooms and service. asked to switch our room because of the terrible smell and window view that exposed us to the patio directly outside where we could hear EVERYTHING (see photo). we were told "some people don't even have a window" so we were forced to go back to the room and sleep through the sounds of luggage being rolled across the panels of wood flooring at all hours of the night, early morning, and day. they also offered us some air freshener when we asked for it seeing as we were always a second away from puking from the smell of decaying poop and said we could use it as "long as we returned it" to the bathroom in the lobby... terrible problems, terrible solutions, and even worse attitudes. but hey, at least we got a window.

We loved this hostel! We did a private room which was clean and modern. The front desk was extremely helpful and the secure locker room to store luggage is great. The bar is also fun with cheap drinks! This is a great stay in London.

Positives: - in terms of infrastructure, this hostel is fantastic - so open, social, large, and fun, with a pool table, ping pong table, a bar, and common space to hang out - breakfast was £4.90, which includes yogurt, cereal, eggs, deli meats, vegetables, fruit, coffee, tea, bread, beans, and juice - front desk was helpful, quick, and knowledgeable - big fridge downstairs to store your stuff - every bed gets a locker, outlet, USB port, and night-light, which I appreciated - adaptors available for rent - ten-minute walk to Tower Hill station In terms of basic necessities that backpackers need, I felt a major lack in a few areas: - no WiFi for half the time I stayed there (3 out of 6 days) - when I asked about switching to another hostel because I needed WiFi, they said they needed more than 24 hours' notice, which doesn't make sense, because if you made the promise to provide WiFi and you aren't, shouldn't you allow people to cancel easily to move elsewhere to get something they need that you're not providing? - squeakiest, oldest, thinnest, most uncomfortable mattresses of any hostel I've ever stayed at. They advertise free condoms at the front desk, but who's gonna have sex on these awful, loud AF beds?!? - incredibly loud and inconsiderate roommates plus aforementioned mattresses means I didn't sleep at all. There was one guy who gave me the silent treatment when I asked him to stop talking on the phone at 2am. There was another couple who packed their suitcases every night at 4am until the morning, even though they never ended up going anywhere that day. There was another guy who was loudly on his computer every night til late, and when I asked him to keep it quiet, he gave me the ol' "no Ingles." When I spoke to him in Spanish and requested some silence, he just ignored me. I literally could not catch a break. - kitchen staff refused to give me soy milk, because "it's expensive." Well, the hostel is expensive, so hadn't I paid for it and didn't I deserve a splash of soy for my coffee? - bar staff was so unfriendly and standoffish - really foul, moldy smell in the bathrooms and rooms It's a fun, conveniently located hostel, but looking back, I do wish I'd stayed somewhere that provided stronger basic necessities.

This hostel cost 3 of us as much as a hotel. I submitted a review to Hostel site. Somehow the final was doctored omitting that no one cleaned our room before or during our stay, the lack of security and unwillingness to provide reasonable safe accommodations despite multiple requests and suggestions, when some of the rooms furthest from the center were reaching biologically dangerous temps. ( I know it sounds dramatic, but it's fact. The air didn't circulate, the warm air became trapped in certain areas of the Bldg and as the temps rose outside, it became hazardous. We slept on floors, door open, roommates rotating through the cold shower and drinking literally gallons of water each, to frankly, stay safe and get through the night when it would be safer to sleep outside in daylight - which we then did. ) The staff was unable and unwilling to respond appropriately to what they should have considered an emergency situation. They left in a few details in the review about the heat and misleading location description ( not near tube, not really near anything. It's not a short walk to the tower. ( although you could walk 5-10 min to a bus that would take you to the tower stop on the bus line) . On a map location looks good , until you want to go somewhere. Any place in London by a bus line, train or tube is better. The staff knew the uninhabitable room situation well at the hostel. The main office had been communicating with me since my stay and read my review to which they responded: Hi there, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're sorry if your room was too warm, next time please don't hesitate to speak to a member of staff regarding any issue you might encounter: our staff is always happy to find a solution, maybe offer a different room, or one of the fans that we rent out to our guests. Don't be fooled. This is PR BS. They are a small operation .They were aware that I had spoken with the staff throughout my stay and asked for other accommodations or even permission to sleep downstairs where it was a safer temp ( albeit sweltering) the fan they had was a 6 inch plastic number. Just stop it. The staff was unwilling to find a solution for the entire stay and were aware of the safety and health issues. Even after the front desk encouraged me and assured me that once I contacted the main office I would be refunded, I was offered a pittance and it was much too little too late. This isn't about discomfort. It was about health hazards, safety and security. Ours and those to come. We should have been promptly refunded and moved. They should have not rented rooms that reached temps 30 degrees higher than intended without ventilation.

My experience staying here was great-- as a young solo traveler I felt very safe and welcome. You get a locker in your room and every door requires key card access, the rooms and en-suite bathrooms are clean, and you get a free towel if you need one. USB ports by all the beds, so no need to worry about adapters if you're abroad. The bar downstairs is super cool and hip, and the events the hostel puts on are lovely. Kitchen and common spaces in the hostel as well. As hostel breakfasts go, the one available (for ~5 pounds) is relatively good. One thing that I was bummed about is that I was in the "garden level" of the hostel, which essentially means that you're in the basement. Other than that, it was great.

Stayed here for three nights. Nice vibe, very relaxed workers, very safe...but if you're a germaphobe this place is game over for you. The mattresses are disgusting. Stained, pilling, and clearly worn down. The comforter is no better. They give you a sheet to cover, a pillowcase, and a comforter case, but most of our room resorted to kick the comforter on the ground and use the case alone as our blanket. Bring shower shoes if you don't like walking on dirty and wet floor. People track water in and out of the bathroom which causes the floor to be damp with dirt water. I appreciate the bar downstairs--amazing happy hour (so much so that we didn't care to find another bar outside...there weren't many around anyways.)

Beware the hidden charges of staying at this hostel. You can't check in before 2pm and they charge you for locker storage. I paid £5. Location is about 15min walk to tube stations so is not that convenient

No air condition. No fans provided. 5 pounds to rent a hair dryer. Request for a quiet room not facing the street. You will be sleeping with Windows open due to the heat. Some rooms are bigger than others. I shared a room with 6 girls. Requested for a fan. No fans were available in the 97 degree weather with no breeze. Pick the bottom bunk. Easier to pack and unpack.

So to start off with a warning, they require you leave an ID with the desk to get your room key. Can be a student ID, doesnt have to be a government ID (they will not accept passports) Id just like to warn people about this because if you only have one form of ID it will create a huge problem if you are trying to party and look young or do things that require an ID and dont want to carry around your passport. The hostel itself is very friendly and modernized. The lockers are half lockers and spacious. They use an electronic lock utilizing your room key. The mattress is a bit thin but the bathroom in your room is fantastic. The toilet and shower are separate which is fantastic and they are both very nice and clean! Actually one of the best showers Ive experienced in Europe given the shower was totally enclosed and not the typical half shower door you find in most European hotels. Seems like a safe location I went out and was fine. Restaurants I had to cross london bridge to get to as the local ones were not good. The subway is fairly far and impractical for getting across zone 1 of london. The hostel is extremely secure, and there are security doors that require your room key to unlock everywhere. Your key will only open parts of the building that go to your room. This was great for feeling secure in london. Definitely one of the best hostels Ive stayed at.

Find somewhere else. Not very pleasant at all. Cleanliness just wasn't a priority. The bathrooms in the basement and in the front lobby for all gusts to use were never clean. I'm not just talking about toilet paper on the ground but rather bodily fluids...and we're not cleaned up for days. Never had soap in ANY of the bathrooms. Out of the five front desk people I came into contact with only one was pleasant.

First time staying at a hostel and it was quite pleasant. Everything was super clean, the beds were actually very comfy, the laundry was perfect and worked great. Only down fall was the shower would flood out onto the floor and in turn not only flood the bathroom but the common area also. In a perfect location right between two underground stations and an overground station we never lacked in options on how to get places. Would absolutely stay here again

I stayed here for 3 nights total and had a great experience. The staff are cool, the people staying there are usually the hipster Euro or American type. I enjoyed the bar experience downstairs and slept well each night. If I was looking for hostels, I would stay here again and loook no further.

Great hostel with many common areas that are suitable for all types of travelers. This hostel offers a more quiet area that is great for chilling out, a large bar with games and a nice patio with hammocks... there is something for everyone here. The hostel is kept very clean. I found it nice at night that the patio is closed after certain hours to respect the people who's bedroom windows open up onto the patio.

Great location! I was obviously new to London and after some crazy circumventing if the window roads I was able to find a tube station, a store and a pizza place all within walking distance. The hostel staff was helpful and friendly. The bar was excellent and the kitchen was pristine. Every inch of the place was clean and well respected. I shared a room with 6 others and there was never an uncomfortable moment. I recommend to the young geared traveler.

We were only there for 2 nights . We got a 6 bed ensuite for 4 of us . The first day after we returned back to our room someone had undone only my bed and they took a crap in our room . It smelled so bad and I honestly don't know why someone undid my bed . It was very odd and I mentioned it to the staff members and they basically had nothing to tell me about it . Basically , no one else but us should be in our room since we paid for the whole room , but apparently someone was there . If you get an ensuite and feel your things are safe I still recommend you lock them up since apparently they will let other people in your room without you knowing .

It's a great, safe hostel. The staff was Friendly and welcoming, the bartenders need a little bit more practice but the bar itself is fun! I would suggest getting a room facing the front of the building as a train runs by frequently which could for sure keep you up. Overall - great stay

security: each door requires card note: bring a photo id that isn't your passport to trade for your security card door card gets you into locker, no lock needed! locker sufficient size for a wheely bag roomie enough room (6 person all girls) separate sink, toilet, shower which was excellent for multi person room wifi was flaky and sucked nice large common areas very clean included sheets and towels each bed had a plug, shelf and light which was unexpected and awesome

Stayed at wombat's for 4 nights and it was great! Very Clean rooms, friendly staff, safe, quiet rooms (if you're lucky to have thoughtful roommates like we did) cool bar in the basement open very late, had events like open mic night which was fun. USB Cord hook up so you don't need a convertor to charge your phone right by your bed. Elevators for easy access to your rooms. Close to 2 different tube stops and very close walking distance to Tower of London and lots of other stuff. Would definitely love to stay here again and will be recommending to all my friends! Will be checking out there Berlin location next trip!

Great hostel, others need to learn from this one. Beds were comfy, room was clean. Bathroom was nice, shower was great! I stayed in an all girls 6 bed room and I had a pleasant experience. They offer late check out if you want to sleep more, for a few pounds more. The bar downstairs is cool and really big. I wish I stayed more days here. Also the location was pretty good. It is near tower bridge. I had fun walking around the neighborhood and riding a bike as it was my first time in London ever. It's nice and quiet on the street. They have a city bike rental just down the street. Lots of pubs nearby. You can also walk to Liverpool st and I think shoreditch isn't too far. I heard they have a great street market on Sunday's (brick lane). So sad I missed it but I did walk around brick lane anyway and it's amazing. Lots of cool shops, places to eat. Also, more about the hostel-towels are included as well as a locker. You just press your room key to lock it. There are vending machines and seating in the lobby. Each bed has a plug in to charge your phone and a little light :)

Wombat's had very good customer service and they give each person a free drink coupon upon arrival! The room was very clean and was subsequently cleaned each day. The bar area had a lot of games and different drink options. The hostel is centrally located to tower bridge and a lot of good food and pubs. Unfortunately, there is no air conditioning.

Best hostel ever. They have everything. Free towel. Locker in your room. Reading light, USB charger, and a power socket for each bed. I stayed in a 6-bed female dorm. It was an en-suite with a separate shower room and toilet room. My only problem was that all the bunk beds were wooden frames. So it shook and made a creaky noise every time I had to climb up to the top bed. But overall it was a great hostel and will be my first choice if I go back to London again.

Extremely noisy until around 3-4 am. This is further an issue when I specifically requested a room in a quiet section and was assured by the staff that my room was quiet only to find out that each and every sound from the bar can be heard through the floor. I can literally hear every word of each song they play and feel every bass beat. Considering every night they have a party complete with shouting and screaming this means no sleep even with earplugs. I even tried getting a different room on another floor but the request for a different room was denied. If noise doesn't bother you, then you'll like it, if you want any sleep before having to get up to go sightseeing or catch a train to the airport at 5 am then go somewhere else as they don't care about you at all.
