Wongan Hills Hotel

I’ve eaten at this place a few times and didn’t think it was bad until now, either I have the steak of fish and chips. They always ask how you like your steak but in the end you get what you get. I don’t thing the chef knows what medium rare actually means. However, last night I ordered the fish and chips. Now I know my fish and chips and I know when it’s not cooked fresh and this as far as I’m concerned wasn’t Barramundi. It took 30 minutes to arrive, the chips were almost cold and the fish was a strange out of the pack shape. The next morning (today) I found a pack of frozen fish at the IGA a few doors down. It does have a good atmosphere as most little town pubs do but the service lacks any courtesy. So if you’re passing through I wouldn’t eat there if you don’t have to.

I don’t know about you? But I really loved my 2 nights stay. The guy in the office was extremely friendly and helpful. I’ve read a few reviews where people complained about the hotel needing an update? But found it to be a breath of fresh air, it’s a 100 years old has character, memories, and it’s not ENTITLED just perfect! It makes you appreciate the people from the past that made our country and our state proud! Unlike the today’s generation

The motel was well located and check-in was efficient once we finally got there. Unfortunately, we had rung for two days and left three messages with no response. The room itself was spacious, but had a strong unpleasant smell. The bed was very uncomfortable and the mattress really needs replacing. The bathroom sink had large rust stains and on top of that, the shower dripped all night and couldn’t be stopped. I understand it’s a country motel, but overall it didn’t feel like good value for money.

Do yourself a favour and drop in for a meal. Called in for lunch and my fussy wife had best chick burger and chips (sweet pot fries) in years!!! I had a schnitty, chips and salad and was very happy too!!! Thanks guys, keep doing what you’re doing

100% just about the best steak sandwich I’ve had in living memory. Great little pub. Rooms are what you’d expect for a country pub, atmosphere is great, food is great and the beer is cold. Ignore the sooks and come on in…

Tried to ring to find out if there was anything gluten free on the menu but we had such a bad line that we couldn't make out each other. But we decided to take a chance and wow are we glad we did! We were driving from Beacon, and driving on a cold rainy day with wet shoes for 150 km kind of puts the yearn of hot food into your mind. Got out of the car and into the spacious hotel bar, and grabbed a couple of menus - sorry, I should have photographed them, and was immediately spoiled for choice gluten free wise. Our first option wasn't available but the lamb chops were, and out they came, hot, perfectly grilled and served with heaps of veggies, mashed potato and heaps of mint jelly. Some gravy (there's heaps of instant commercially available) would have been nice, but this was absolutely great and just what we needed. Thanks folks, it was wonderful! Put up you new menu on your website, blow the gluten free trumpet, because you're doing great!

Delicious food! We had a steak burger, pork ribs and sweet potato chips. All of them were amazing 👏
