"Wong's King, Division by Factory North. Let’s get one thing straight: Portland isn’t the best city for dim sum. You need to go to Vancouver BC or San Francisco or even Seattle. But, when the craving hits, WK (and HK Cafe) are the only places you should go in Portland for the real thing. On the weekend, my advise is to try to hit the sweet spot of not being so early that you miss out on the variety of carts, but still early enough that you aren’t waiting two hours for a table. Order lots, it’s cheap and don’t let them convince you to get the chicken feet!"

01/20/17: 4.0 out of 5 - It's been a long while since I've eaten at Wong's King. I believe a little over two years. It's still looks the same. Meaning the place is clean, bright, and nicely set up. The food was tasty for the most part and not so expensive, considering we ordered from the Chinese New Year Special Menu. The service was great. They were quite attentive, and quick to get the things we ask for. Overall, I'd come back but with family or friends. Just not really would go out of my way to eat here. However, if haven't done so, give Wong's King a try and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

What an exceptional meal! Not your typical Chinese food definitely cuisine. We had several varieties of dim sum and each one was better than the last. Hands down, an excellent choice for a night out.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. The service is relatively fast, the waiters are nice, and the portions are large for the price. The food is flavorful, fresh, delicious, and authentic. The space is large and has many tables.

My husband and I came here for dim sum, we arrived just when they opened the restaurant so it wasn't crowded at all. We tried shrimp dumpling, siaw mai, yellow cream bun, sticky rice in lotus root, shrimp rice noodle, and xiao long bao, and all tasted delicious. I specially enjoyed their siaw mai and shrimp dumpling :) and the chili oil was tasty as well.

Google
One of my favorite places for dim sum! Come earlier the food is hot. The weekends get busy so come before 11 am if you don't wanna wait.... I love the fried taro with ground pork and mushroom filling( Wu Gok). The customer service isn't the best but the food and ambiance is great. If you've never tried dim sum this is the place. They also have a menu stocked with authentic Chinese dishes.

This was our first time here. If you walk in and see Asian people eating at an Asian resturant you know it has to be really good. Our friends told us they had the best Dim Sum (spell check) I went in thinking that was a dumpling of sorts, because we had just mentioned we wanted to try a good dumpling. Anyway, we were seated quickly. While we were waiting for menus (no menus) ladies came by with carts of food and ask you if you want to try. If it looks good grab it. They so have options with out seafood which is my jam. My in laws and husband ate all the seafood and non seafood options. All of it was delicious. Pictured is an egg yoke roll. Try it. You will love the sweet taste. After you are done take your ticket up and pay. Easy peasy! You will be full! Oh yeah the black sticks on the table are chop sticks use them or ask for a fork like my in laws. We had no idea what to expect, but we loved our Dim Sum.

Google
I have gone to this place 3-4 times now, and every time I have gone it has been good. Last time I went, it was great! The reason I gave it 4 stars was that the waiting situation, and particularly the lobby, needs some work. It is a little dingy, and needs some updated furniture. However, the main restaurant is spectacular!

Yelp
There aren't many dim sum places in Portland, so it's pricey. Even though each dish is expensive, the dim sum itself is pretty good. I also grabbed two takeout dishes on my way home, and they were both a huge letdown. I don't know if they got a new chef or lost their noodle supplier, but the beef chow fun noodles were gummy and flavorless. The Singapore noodles were also lacking curry flavor - I even asked for extra! Their dim sum is way better than their other dishes.

Yelp
When compared to the Bay area or Vancouver BC, the Portland dim sum scene is weak. With that said, Excellent Cuisine is pretty decent with fairly authentic tasting dim sum items. This place was bustling on the weekend we went with many Chinese families chowing down (which is usually a good sign). Table turnover was rapid such that we only had a 30 minute wait during peak lunch hour. Service was friendly and the dim sum carts came around frequently. The atmosphere was reminiscent of a crowded chaotic Hong Kong restaurant......a good thing. Stand out items were sticky rice (full of savory fillings) beef balls & chicken feet. Each dim sum plate ranged from $6 to $8.50 so expect to spend $15-$25 per diner for lunch. Not bad given all the variety one gets when having yum cha. In previous reviews, we had a takeout only special of assorted noodle & entrees for $13 each which is still a good deal.

Yelp
I just finished Christmas Day dim sum here, and I'm impressed (relative to other dim sum I've had in Portland; don't compare to Seattle or SF). My husband and I ordered 1/2 a roast duck plus all the standard dim sum dumplings from the carts. The duck could've been more tender, but it was delicious. Dumplings all tasted great, but the wrappings/skins were too mushy on most (too thick/stiff on the soup dumplings). I find this so odd because I've never had dumplings fall apart like this, and I've been eating dim sum for decades. IDK if their recipes are off or the dishes had been over-steamed or were sitting in the carts too long (seems unlikely with the rate of turnover) or what else would lead to this texture. I plan to come back on a non-holiday weekend to see if things are different. It could be that a less experienced staff was cooking today. Service is what you expect from any restaurant like this (nice enough, gets the job done, no special attention). I think they could improve the check-in process. It's very confusing and hard to determine where to put your name on the wait-list and then hard to hear your number if you get distracted. If the dumpling skins have the right texture next time, I'll upgrade my rating. I'm excited to come back in the near future.

Yelp
Was looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant while up in Portland. My cousin suggested we try this place out. It was comforting to hear the hustle and bustle as we entered and after looking at the menu, I was very hopeful. My cousin and I ordered for our party of 7. We had newbies so ordered a few dishes that would appeal to all. I was very happy with the pea shoots, braised tofu, green beans with beef. The Chinese BBQ (BBQ pork, roast duck & crispy pork belly) was a bit disappointing. The skin on the pork belly was not crispy and the BBQ (char siu) was weak. The duck was okay. The honey walnut shrimp was also a bit soggy but I did appreciate that they didn't over laden the dish with mayo. Service was decent, and they even had a wedding party the evening of our visit. Would definitely come back again. I want to try their dim sum.

Yelp
Good authentic dim sum in Portland that satisfied my long term fix. Nothing groundbreaking being served here, but all the expected standbys are covered admirably. Shumai and Hargow were adequately sized and served fresh at noon on a very busy Sunday. The lotus leaf rice was good and the Chinese sausage used was better than most. Custard and BBQ pork buns both satisfied. The best surprise came last, as their custard tarts were better than most I've had in Hong Kong, NYC, LA or SF--near perfect melt in the mouth goodness. Finally, the cart attendants were more cheerful than at most other dim sum restaurants and perfectly willing to converse in English (my Cantonese skills still suck). This will be my go-to dim sum place in Portland. (4 stars).

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been back here. The dim sum here is fine, it definitely fixes my dim sum cravings when needed. For Portland, the dim sum here is good. However, there are better dim sum spots in other major cities in the US. I special ordered the red rice shrimp noodles. They make it fresh to order which is nice. I wish the inside was more crispy and crunchy with the soft plump shrimp for a bigger texture contrast. The har gow and shumai are classics, however the har gow skin broke easily. The salted egg yolk custard buns were good, freshly baked when we got it. The steamed ribs with kabocha pumpkin were good as well as their beef tripe. I like that they have the carts and you can pick what you'd like. Everything in the carts were constantly getting refilled which was nice. The staff were friendly and definitely a busy spot on the weekends or holidays

Yelp
Have I seriously not reviewed Excellent Cuisine? I've done all of you a huge disservice then, haven't I? Because this place has been my go-to Sunday morning Dim Sum for years! It's a smaller venue than the other cafe not too far from here, but it doesn't seem to have the long lines first thing in the morning. However, it should be said that the later in the day you go to get dim sum in Portland, the longer you'll have to wait. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered here. There's a large variety of carts that come through in rapid succession, with staff who don't seem overly pushy. Because there are still a few dishes I'm not familiar with, it can sometimes be a little overwhelming deciding what to order. My favorites include shumai, xialongbao, pork buns, congee, and the red bean shrimp noodles. The red bean shrimp noodles are so yummy, but beware, they need to be requested off the menu and the portion is quite large as it's meant to be shared. The parking lot at Excellent Cuisine is rather small, especially since it's shared with several other businesses in the little mall. The neighborhood is a little rough, so be careful parking your vehicle too far from watchful eyes. Even if I've had to circle the parking lot a few times, I generally find a parking spot opens up soon enough. The folks here are friendly, fast, and very helpful. Excellent Cuisine is definitely one of my favorite dim sum houses in Portland. Check them out!

Yelp
This is a review of the dinner. It's our preferred Chinese restaurant in the area. I've been here for dinners and banquet dinners. (Good to call ahead to see if a banquet is taking place, and if they will accept other guests.) There is a decent size parking lot, but may be full if there is a full house for a banquet.

Yelp
Inside the King Plaza. Remarkably usual ~ spacious banquet style seating, prompt service, the customary steamed menu. Even at almost full capacity, customers are mindful having low level conversations, so the lunch buzz is comfortable and laid back compared to HK Cafe. Very limited alcohol list. Parking high traffic and very tight spaces.

Yelp
Aptly named. We rolled in around 2 pm and we expected to be served the limp leftovers from the morning and midday brunch. Instead we had ample options to choose from: a stunning assortment of vegetarian and shrimp filled dumplings (there are subtle but important differences between them all), sweet and gooey egg buns and egg tarts (still with a crunch on the outside but not dry at all on the inside). The buns tasted fresh, like they'd been prepared that morning, and everything was still hot! We were seated promptly. There's so many large tables to choose from perfect for bringing your family. Our servers were never too overbearing. They didn't try to push any dishes on us we didn't want but we were always ready to pop up if we called for them. I was watching the restaurant staff enjoying their lunch break together and I kept mental tabs on what they were eating, it looked fresh and incredible. The meals they had were simple but looked awesome. It made me feel like this place is the real deal - very authentic! The Jasmine tea is simply heavenly. I basically drank the whole pot and I don't even drink tea regularly y'all. I will be coming back here often for my weekend Dim Sum.

Yelp
I've only ordered take away from here a couple times, and it's always a win for me. Fast, hot and fresh. Portions are big and I love their hot and sour soup. Hot and sour can be not worth eating sometimes, but there's is full of mushrooms, tofu and spice, and not gloopy finished with toasted sesame oil. Usually order a couple dim sum items, sticky rice is great, shumai is super big and tons of whole shrimp. My partner got some Mongolian beef this time, and it was super juicy, tender and lots of veggies. Service (only to go opinion), is great. Though I go at less busy times. The nice lady even asked if I was picking up for myself and mentioned to call next time vs an app to save money, very nice. Place is big, clean and accessible if you have mobility challenges. Plenty of parking spots! I will be back to dine in soon and get some better pics and video.

Yelp
It's all that. Get here early and don't be shy calling out for what you want from the carts. Highlights are: The duck, the shrimp dumpling thing with crispy flairs, anything with BBQ pork, custard tarts. All of the classics (shrimp noodle, pork n shrimp dumpling) are well represented, and they have lots of creative takes on dim sum cuisine. I'm not a bao guy but our friends said these are the best ones in Portland. Skip the French toast and come here for a unique before-noon dining experience on a weekend.

Yelp
I can't really say much. I am considered to have an iron stomach. At least that's what my wife tells me. But something got me here. The last time we ate here, it was still Wong's King. My hopes hadn't been all that high but I was trying to be optimistic. To be frank, we ordered several dishes and really enjoyed dining here. But by the time we left, we just didn't feel right. We didn't get sick, but we're probably not returning. I know a couple of people who have had decent (but not really memorable) experiences here. So ymmv. But for me and my wife.... we'll just have to go elsewhere to get our fill.

Yelp
This was our first time here. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The fried options had the perfect crispy textures, the baos were pillow soft with that perfect smell of doughy goodness. The dumplings were juicy & prawns cooked perfectly. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a great place for groups-they have huge round tables! We had a wonderful experience and I'm sure we will be back.

Yelp
Dim sum at its finest. Open for the the carts are packed with a variety of choices. The clientele is mostly Asian and gives me a clue that I'm in the right spot. One of my husbands favorites and so we are here often.

Yelp
Came here at peak time, a Sunday at 11am. I would not recommend coming at this time unless you have the time to wait. Also, parking can be hard to get as well since the parking lot is not that big & is used for other businesses in the plaza. It was confusing as to how to put your name down for a table, the hostess doesn't tell you & there are no signs but walk up to the register & they will write your name down & give you a number. Waited 40 minutes before we got a table. Got seated in this weird back room that looked like it's reserved for private karaoke parties. The cart ladies did not come around often & at one point, the hostess asked the room if any of us needed more food when myself & another big table had just gotten seated & had no food like we weren't a priority since they sat us in this back room. Waitresses came out quick tho to provide hot tea & iced water & a side dish of chili oil which was nice. I always like when I don't have to ask for those things at dim sum. Eventually cart ladies did come around, my favorite were the egg tarts & the har gow. The bean curd rolls here lacked flavor. The rest of the items we ate like shu mai, shrimp rice noodles, shrimp balls, etc... were all good but average. The fried footballs filling was too sweet for my taste as well as the sauce for the shrimp rice noodles. As far as service, it was the same of many Asian dim sum restaurants, not friendly & sometimes rude but enough to get the job done. Overall, while the food wasn't bad, it wasn't good enough to justify the higher price point compared to other dim sum spots nearby & the long wait time. Everything was served hot & fresh but you can get that at any dim sum as long as you go early in the morning. I'll stick with HK cafe, wait times there are never long & the price is better for the same quality of food & I like the way they make certain dishes over Excellent Cuisine. Don't get the hype.

Yelp
This business is a terror in the neighborhood. They completely ignore Portland noise ordinances, generating sounds above the legal levels at all hours on evenings into the dawn. We have repeatedly asked for them to stop doing this, but their employees are rude and defensive. They wake up the neighborhood and prevent them from sleeping by power washing and running generators for hours to the point that you can hear it inside multiple homes. The windows literally vibrate with the impact of the noise and generator vibrations. They operate a business in a neighborhood full of working families with young children and consistently disrupt the peace of this neighborhood without concern for the inhabitants. There is a house that is less than 20ft away from the parking lot they create this noise in, with three school aged children who are consistently woken up through the night. The police have come and told them to operate within quiet hours before. No food is that good to support a business that disrespects the neighborhood it inhabits.

Yelp
Excellent Cuisine I'm not sure about the name, if they are indeed deserving of that.. come here about once a year, and each time, their food is either bland or okay came here today because I was feeling like going to a big Chinese restaurant that looked elevated or close to it, and haven't been here for a while and wanted to see if they got better/changed their chef/new chef came/or whatever and felt like some good ol' Chow Fun so here I am started out with their restroom and BOY, the door and handles need a good wiping!  I mean so many fingerprints since the door is copper-like material service was good throughout, they sat me and got me the food I wanted.. I ordered four things: 1) Beef Chow Fun - executed good; tender beef.. wasn't bland but can use a little more flavor, and most-of-all wok flavor! 3/5 2) Preserved Egg and Lean Pork Rice Porridge - lots of fatty pork pieces and a good amount of diced egg, but it was super BLAND! no salt or anything added, and because I only added soy sauce afterwards, it still wasn't enough.. then added a little chili oil, and it helped 3/5 3) Siu Mai - not the best I had, but decent.. pork and shrimp was there 3/5 4) Egg Tarts - worst I had, it was SUPER OFF! tasted like when peanuts go bad type of flavor, instead of rich, buttery, fresh egg sweetness over flaky shell.. the lady asked me if I wanted to bag the last one left on the plate.. I said no 1/5

Yelp
Loooove Excellent Cuisine. Everything we ordered was super delicious, and came out quick. Ordering was family style, about 4-6 dishes total for 4 people was plenty. Inside was bright and open.

Yelp
Stopped by this dim sum spot a few weeks ago. We were seated and immediately the ladies with the carts came over. I loved their har gow and shrimp rolls, they were so soft. The chicken feet were also super flavorful. Shrimp crab dumpling looked fancy but was similar to a har gow. We were already full when the char siu baos and turnip cakes came around so we'll definitely be back to get those next time! We got there early ~10am and there was no line and plenty of parking.

Yelp
Been a year since i have been here and it's only gotten better. Big fat loaded shrimp har gow. Monster siu mai. A new dish i had never tried w crispy shrimp wrapped in a red rice wrapper served with 3 dipping sauces. Steamed pork ribs. The dessert yellow yoke buns. Chinese broccoli. A stir fried vegetable platter. We found enuf vegan options for my vegan wife. Pot of hot tea. Absolutely delicious. Nice clean bathrooms. I will return.

Ann N.

Yelp
i enjoyed my meal here. the food was super delicious and seemed to be more fresh compared to other dim sum places. they have a few other dishes that hk don't have, so that's a plus. the wait can be pretty long, so plan accordingly. i loved the chaos of the servers with the food carts.
google avatar

Paul K.

Yelp
Excellent cuisine is excellent dim sum. This establishment presents a foyer to the entrance of the restaurant. And then lots of tables, chairs, and dumplings. I can't spell the names of the wonderful dishes; however, they are authentic and delicious. My favorite are the shrimp dishes. If real dim sum is new to you or is not your jam, then give it a shot. That service is always roaming like tiger moms, so keep an eye out for those carts.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
We came over at 11:30am on Saturday. Was very busy. There were many people waiting for a table. Waited for about 10 minutes before we got a table. Service was quick. We had many food carts stop by to ask what we will like. We ordered house special chow mein and salted fish fries rice. The fried rice was delicious. A flavorful taste. The shrimp ball was flavorful and big. Food was delicious. I was full quickly.
google avatar

Cami S.

Yelp
Dim sum is really good here! The carts go around pretty quickly and often so you get a wide variety of items. We showed up right when they opened and it was already pretty busy!
google avatar

Cindy G.

Yelp
Dim sum so good it overcomes any reluctance by those less enthusiastic. This time we, we subbed out: Salt and pepper squid Har gow We added: Steamed char siu bao Sautéed green beans Lobster puff The steamed bao was pillowy and stuffed full with savory and sweet bbq pork. The green beans were well cooked with no chlorophyll taste and when drizzled with their homemade chili oil, it was delicious! The lobster puff was crispy and chock full of juicy lobster meat. Served with a side of the mayo sauce, the tasty filling didn't need any enhancements. The carts weren't as plentiful and frequent this time around, but the ladies were super helpful and we were able to stuff our bellies.
google avatar

Kevin Y.

Yelp
The service was terrible. After being seated with water, we were left alone with no one tot air our orders, it wasn't until after 30 minutes where we needed to flag someone to take our order. Our waiter was nowhere to be seen and we decided to leave because they continued to take too long for our food. I assume it must be much better when dim sum is available otherwise I will not come here
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
Soooo good! Definitely thoroughly satisfied my dim sum craving. Came right at peak dim sum time (Sunday around 11) so everything was very fresh and hot as we were served. Loved the bustling energy inside with tables full of people. Good to know parking getting really full so I'd park in the neighborhood right before the turn in. My favorite is always the ham sui gok and it was perfection - filling ratio, fry, texture all of it. I also recommend their steamed bbq pork bun and yutiao (fried donut). I think this place was better than HK cafe as well. Worth a visit!
google avatar

Frank R.

Yelp
Dim sum restaurant on Division. Decent, but to be honest, other dim sum places in Portland are better. The carts where slow to come around and selection was not as big as other establishments. We arrived at opening and it was easy to get seated. Within one hour the place was very packed . I honestly recommend HK Cafe over this place.

Yelp
Food was simply delicious and authentic! Service was good and fast. Servers were very attentive. Must try!

Yelp
We had enjoyed the food here. It was our favorite, but recently it has been a hit most of the time and a miss sometimes with cold dishes or somethings off but not all.

Yelp
Stopped by after reading the Yelp article "Dim Sum Delights." Mid-afternoon and won't make the mistake again. The single cart's offerings were cold and bland, not nearly as tasteful as other dim sum meals we've had in Portland and elsewhere. None of the prices were apparent, not even after the sole server working the floor marked our card. When we asked for sticky rice we were told to wait. The sticky rice didn't come out until we were finished with our meal and about to pay our bill. Considerably better dim sum can be found elsewhere, even an hour or so after lunchtime. Minimal service. Sorry Yelp, this place isn't a "delight."

Bill G.

Yelp
I spent some years in China as a kid. I attended probably more banquets than ate normal dinners. So I'm spoiled as far as Chinese food goes. That said, having lived so many years in America, I don't have high expectations for Chinese food, whether Americanized or not. Read reviews here, on Eater and saw videos on TikTok talking about how amazing the food is here. I'm genuinely baffled. At its worst the food we were served is vile. We ordered shrimp/pork shumai and it tasted and smelled awful, like old socks. The shrimp and chive dumplings were no better. The soup dumplings mediocre, bland, lukewarm and without much broth. We also had green beans and a side-plate of fried rice. The fried rice was just yellow rice with bits of meat. The green beans were fine, but you can't screw up green beans with garlic and brown sauce, can you? But this place is supposed to be one of two or three go-to dim sum places in Portland. Please tell me that I am missing something, and I'll go here again.
google avatar

Jayotta F.

Yelp
Best dim sum in town. They have a consistent variety and will make custom orders. The size of the sea creatures in the tanks is impressive. It's an experience all its own.

Marco H.

Yelp
Food was not bad but not great, got 4 different dumpling which were made fresh and the seafood chow mein. It wasn't super clean and the bathrooms smelled funny. Service was good and our waitress was nice enough. I would consider coming again if in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
We have late dinner and we ordered 5 entries. Food good with other rest of our order gone before I can take pictures . Service fast, maybe because only us and few other customers. We enjoy our dinner since is late dinner not a lot of other customers.

Yelp
We went on Christmas day and it was pretty hectic. Parking lot was full and place was packed with diners and people waiting for tables. It took us about 10 minutes to get our name on the list. We then waited 30 min for a table. The food carts came along at a nice place. We asked for a couple dishes that we didn't see on the carts and they came out in about 10 minutes. Food was pretty good. Lots of smokers out front.

Yelp
Excellent cuisine is truly excellent! Finally was able to make out here for dim sum on Saturday around 12pm The parking lot can be a little chaotic with cars parked in non parking spots, but we were able to snag a spot in the back of the lot. It was definitely busy which was expected given the time we came in at. I love that there are plenty of carts being carted around throughout the dining area. You get to pick what you want, and they will mark down on a sheet of paper what you just got. The dishes here are priced as small, medium, large, special, K. The portions here are quite generous, and prices are on par for what you would expect. For reference, large items here are $7.50. The service here is quick, and the servers are very kind. We saw a dish we wanted, and she said if we waited a few more minutes we could get a fresh batch. I am so glad I finally made my way out here! Absolutely will be coming back to get my dim sum fix. I am also intrigued by their non dim sum menu and would love to come back to dine in or do take out.

Yelp
Good food but morning really extraordinary, I've tried better dim sum in other places. Like in other places of dim sum , service is rough and not very kind but it was an ok experience.
google avatar

Alisa G.

Yelp
I'm not a fan since they've changed hands. The dining room seems brighter, but now instead of cloth tablecloths and napkins, they use paper. The service, as required for any dim sum spot, is curtains and efficient, just like I like it. The most notable difference is the dumpling size. They've at least doubled, which means it's now impossible to pop one in your mouth. They're 2-3 bites each, and there just is no dainty way around it. This also means prices are close to double. I'll stick with HK Cafe for now - much more my speed, er, size.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday evening since our previous favorite Cantonese restaurant changed ownership. It was pretty busy with lots of Asian families. The space is large, clean, and updated. We were seated right away and were surprised when they brought a cold dish of cucumbers, wood ear fungi, and peanuts to our table. We assumed it was a mistake, but it was a free appetizer! This pretty much never happens at a Chinese restaurant, so we were off to a great start considering you also get your choice of brewed-in-the-pot tea included as well. Fried smelt: nice subtle flavor with light batter Beef chow fun (dry): well done with good "wok mae" and a good amount of tender beef Braised E-fu mein: I have never had this dish before, but the noodles were a little chewy, which made them seem fresh or house-made. All of their dishes are intended for family style sharing, so the portions are quite large. The only downside is that food is slow to come out. It was pretty busy, but our first and last dish came out about 50 minutes apart--another good reason to plan on sharing. This was after a considerable wait for our 1st dish. Luckily, we did not arrive hungry. The meal ended with another freebie: sweet juicy sliced oranges! We'll definitely be back for dim sum!

Yelp
This is the closest I have come to good Dim Sum in Portland. Located on the east side of town and renamed space a few years back, this is a nice space within a building that has an expansive floor filled with round tables and shuffling carts stacked with delicious food. All your staples - xiu mai, ha gow, pork buns, chicken feet, egg tarts, etc. Carts come around and you can see what you are getting. Try a bit of everything. Good service and efficient. Could be a little easier to pay at the end - ended up just going up to the front. A little wait to get in. You can make reservation on Yelp and other sites, but they don't honor them. It is just a waitlist at the door. Reasonably priced. I would return.

Yelp
Came on Friday evening around 7:30 and there was still a decent amount of people! I'm Chinese and grew up in SoCal where I ate Dim Sum and Chinese food every weekend so I have a bit of high expectations when it comes to Chinese food! Sadly there aren't too many choices in Portland for good Chinese places but this might make it to my list! Service was bleh, but average for a Chinese restaurant! Food was really good and better than expected! We got the jellyfish, chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, sticky rice, eggplant, and beef crispy noodles. I would HIGHLY recommend the crispy noodles. They're not on the menu but it was delicious!! Perfect balance of crispy and saucy with very tender beef! I loved the jellyfish and shrimp dumplings! The eggplant was also super tasty and saucy!! The chicken feet was the only thing that was subpar. It was dry with not enough flavor in the sauce. They also gave us oranges for dessert on the house! Super classic for an authentic Chinese restaurant! All in all, I would come one back solely for the crispy noodles and eggplant! You HAVE to try the crispy noodles. It will not disappoint!

Yelp
Fast service. We put our name on the list and took total 10 mins to get seated. The dim sum was fresh. We love the availability of the carts going around the tables. Makes for an experience. Glad we have another dim sum spot to go to and its not too long of a wait. Our order: shrimp ha cao, fried taro rolls, shrimp noodle rice rolls, sesame balls filled with red beans, chicken feet, BBQ pork buns, pork shu mai! Delicious! Also, Inlove that they brought out iced water and hot tea. Usually at other dim sum places you would have to ask for one or the other.

Yelp
Really the best dim sum we had in Portland. Hard to find a good one that doesn't bake their pork buns (should be steamed & they do it correct here). Definitely a good spot to go to when having that itch. The only thing that sucks is the parking. Be ready to wait and pounce once someone is leaving.

Yelp
Came in during Chinese new year weekend and the wait was not too long approx. 20 mins. Once seated they offered our table cold water which was nice! The lady's pushing carts around promptly arrived at our table offering us dim sum options. We selected the shrimp dumplings, steamed pork and shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, and spare ribs. All tasted really good except for the shrimp dumplings (perhaps it was an off day) Good service. Decent prices. Traditional dim sum experience. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Great place to come with a big group. They have a huge variety of dishes to choose from. My friends and I shared a family style meal and ordered Jellyfish, Combination BBQ platter, crab and fish Soup, Steamed fish, Sautéed clam with black bean sauce, Honey walnut prawns, Sizzling beef with black pepper sauce, Sautéed string beans, Lobster noodles, Cashew chicken, and Dried scallap and egg white fried rice. All the dishes were delicious. I would highly recommend the lobster noodles and bbq platter.

Yelp
So... I'm no marketing genius but when that's the name of your establishment, you are really setting yourself up for some major critique. Taking over the old Wong's King building, EC strives to bring back the glory days of early 2000s when the owner/patriarch opened up Wong's King to begin with. All in all, it is a valiant attempt that will never replace the original, but is passable for Portland, now that even Ocean City, who also had roots from Wong's King is gone. The dim sum is good, just not great, flavors just don't wow me, the wrappings of the dumplings a bit more chewy than my personal tastes... the fried taro balls nicely crisp but the taro flavors left me wanting more... the baked buns slightly overbaked today... but I do like that fact it's not insanely packed like the other dim sum place just 6 minutes away in the mornings. But by noon even EC is busy. Dinner is a bit better with solid stir fry techniques. Service has a hole in the wall vibe, dim sum carts are gonna roll up when THEY want to, not when you want them to... it takes a minute more just to get the check... all wrapped in a banquet hall decor of years past. They have some growing up to do, but I hope EC stays for the long haul, PDX is desperately short of solid Chinese Seafood/Dum Sum restaurants as of mid '22.
