Excellent experience and one of a kind food. If you are looking for a break from the run of the mill dining experiences this is the place. Flew from NJ to Vegas then drove to Utah for my nephew’s White Coat Ceremony. Picked this restaurant on a whim and am sure glad we did. All dishes have an excellent presentation and are table “shareable”.

We were on a weekend trip to St. George and decided to go to brunch since we've wanted to go for quite sometime. Unfortunately, the experience was mixed overall. Let’s talk about it! First and foremost, the food was great. We had got eggs Benedict, croquet madam, pancakes, and biscuits & gravy. All of which were good. Especially the croquet! The biscuits were super good as well. But the hollandaise sauce on the eggs benny was cold which I thought was weird. Although, all of this was good, we got to the restaurant at 1030am and was only presented a breakfast menu. Odd since it clearly says breakfast ends at 10am and brunch starts at 1030am. We made it work but still would have liked brunch options as advertised which is why we made a reservation in the first place. The service is what lacked here. We would have expected so much better from an establishment like this. At first, we were passively greeted by 3 different people which told us "someone will be with us shortly" and waited several more minutes. After which, we were seated and presented breakfast menus (odd since this should be brunch). Our sever was nice, answered our questions, and took our order quickly. After that though, we basically never saw her again. She dropped off our drinks and never followed up or even brought us our food (a runner did that). Never asked how the food was, or if it was right, or if we needed anything else (which we would have loved more syrup), and didn’t refill ANY of our drinks. We only saw her when the check came and she didn’t ask anything about our meal… Also, the other waitress working in the area was unbelievably non-personable. The table next to us seemed to be unattended just as much as we were. It was just odd overall. We would’ve expected something better for an upscale establishment like this. Overall, the food was good but buyer beware of the service. There is some serious opportunity for improvement here.

Best dining experience I’ve had in St George. Food & service was fantastic. Plates are to be shared. Gnocchi with oxtail was fabulous, it’s a must have. LOVE that they have warm chocolate chip cookies & cold glass of milk for dessert. Summer was a wonderful server. She knew her stuff and was very personable. Can’t wait to go back!

Do I dream about this place? Yes, yes I do. Those biscuits. Ugh. I am so sad they took their croque monseiur off the menu. SO SO SAD, bring it back!! Was here a week ago for dinner and ordered the watermelon pork belly is a must try. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts (needed more goat cheese but still so good). So so so good. All of it. I also love their grilled chicken salad for lunch.

Owen was so extremely kind and attentive!! 10/10 recommend this place for breakfast! We were staying at the Avenir hotel by Marriott and this restaurant is on the ground level. Depending on your Marriott status, you can either choose a free continental breakfast or points. We elected to choose the points so that we could experience the full menu at this restaurant. The eggs Benedict was to die for! My son got the chicken tenders, which was available on both the breakfast and the dinner menu. Very good! Crispy fries are our favorite. And then I got the continental breakfast and it was perfect! The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a very cool and upbeat vibe! perfect for a beautiful morning in St. George. Thank you for a wonderful experience Owen!!

What an incredible dining experience! Dining at the chef’s table was so immersive! It was so entertaining to be so close to the action. I met Chef Jason who just recently became head chef. It was a pleasure to watch the team work in such synchronization. You can tell the team has great chemistry! It was also a privilege to be given samples of a few of their dishes. I was planning on ordering two dishes. I knew I wanted to try the Quesabirria. That was great. When I tried a sample of the Gnocchi, it blew my mind! That one stole the show. The Gnocchi which features braised oxtail, gremolata, sherry wine crème sauce is one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in Utah, possibly ever. The noodles were tender but delicate. The sauce was rich and creamy, but also light in a way. The oxtail was incredibly tender and flavorful. I’d highly recommend ordering this dish if you’ve never tried it.

We did a Sunday Walk-In on a busy weekend so please look at my review from a position of they were busier than usual but that wasn't reflected in our vantage of the situation. Let me start by saying if you're a fan of Bloody Mary's theirs is top notch. First its not V8 it's juiced tomatoes. It's a very healthy spicy (I did not need to add any extra heat) and it was tasty in terms of it was a Bloody Mary but not theirs is distinctive which is hard to do with a Bloody Mary. The Mimosa was well made too, but what you expect when you pay premium price for a Sunday mimosa. So when we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation....which we did not... we tried George's across the street and they were PACKED, so considered W.A.R. because it didn't visually look as busy. We were told we could eat at the bar and we opted to eat on the patio. Service was provided by the bartender and he was friendly and professional..... he was just possibly over busy. We had ordered an appetizer which perhaps was forgotten, he didn't write any of our order down so perhaps it was just overlooked. 3 of us ordered the same thing.... the Eggs Benedict, wich were VERY good and done well, the hollandaise sauce ON the dish was excellent.... the extra side we asked for was not as well done and a different color so perhaps was not from the line.... who knows... it was still good. The forth dish was a Croque Madame and it looked well made but looked more like a version of avocado Toast with eggs instead of avocado. I was assured it was tasty. All the food we ate was amazing. Simply put the food is fantastic. The service was friendly but not very attentive which we believe was due to it being a more busy Sunday than they were perhaps prepared for. The atmosphere was fine but nothing special, no music, no environment but we perhaps were expecting too much from the patio section. This review is based on first impressions and may change with further visits.... which there will be because the food was good. Expect to pay $20 to $30 a person for brunch and while the servings are adequate the selection is primarily specialty breakfast items.... don't expect the Denny Grand Slam as an option. First impression is a 6.3 out of 10 would try again.

If you are looking for a date night with elevated food, come to Wood Ash Rye for a quaint homey upscale experience. Highly recommend the Pork Belly Watermelon. I know, it sounds strange BUT it is delicious! Cheers!

Yelp
Husband and I come here every year for the past 3 years. Our stop to spend the night on our way back to California From Montana. What a beautiful property with amazing aroma when you walk in. We have never been to the bar or restaurant UNTIL Today! Our bartender server Seth Rock! Great Recommendations, Best service! Food was Bomb Dot Com. Sadly, my eyes are bigger than my stomach! This Young 5.5 Years Hotel is the best! 10/10! Cant wait come back

Yelp
This a a true gem in Southern Utah. The food and service are amazing and the ambiance is classy and elegant but feels cozy. We had the scallops and filet and both were superb. The starter salad was one of the freshest salads I've ever had and their grilled Brussels are superb. Just over the top good food and reasonable for a top notch establishment.

Yelp
We had the best experience at Wood, Ash, Rye in St. George, Utah. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting -- the décor is beautiful, with a perfect blend of modern touches and cozy charm. We love the lights! We were lucky enough to have Zoe as our server, and she truly made the evening unforgettable. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and had such a friendly, welcoming energy. She made great recommendations and was genuinely excited about the menu, which made us even more excited to try everything. The food absolutely lived up to the hype. We had read about the biscuits and they were heavenly -- warm, buttery, and just the right amount of flaky, while still melting in your mouth. The salad was fresh and flavorful, and the brussel sprouts were out of this world -- crispy, perfectly seasoned, and easily some of the best I've ever had, with just a tang of goat cheese. Between the gorgeous setting, incredible food, and Zoe's outstanding service, this was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Not having made reservations in advance and being a single diner, at sat and ate at the bar (same dinner menu). I actually didn't mind, as I was able to have pleasant short conversations with the bartender. The ambiance was upscale, and the food was incredibly tasty. I had the filet mignon, which was served pre-sliced and was amazingly tender and flavorful. I had a side of Brussel sprouts, which came with bacon bits and white cheese, and there was definitely enough for 2-3 people. Overall, the food was pricey, but excellent. Highly recommend making reservations.

Yelp
The restaurant is really well designed, with attractive decor and a cool vibe. The food is served family style and the menu is abundant. I had a salad, entree and app and the lemonade was like dessert. We enjoyed our meal and our server Miah was great.

Yelp
Great place, food and service! A bit expensive, but food came out quick, service was great, and they were playing my childhood 90's songs. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Came here so that we could take advantage of their dog friendly patio. The patio was so warm, which I appreciated with the sun going down and a slight breeze. It was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, they brought the dogs their own water bowl, which we really appreciated! I asked what the server recommended, and she recommended the berry lemonade and their pork chop. That is what I got! The berry lemonade was just okay and for the price I probably would have just stuck with water. The pork chop was excellent. The meat was flavorful and cooked beautifully. It comes with a cauliflower purée, but you do not get very much of that. I wish that the side had been more substantial while the pork chop itself was incredible and delicious, I was not full after finishing my plate and when I pay $40 for a plate, I want to be full when I leave. With larger portion size, I would have been more satisfied the flavor of the pork was the best I've ever had. It's a good choice when you're out with dogs but for the price tag associated and the quantity of food received I did not feel like it was worth it unfortunately. If the meal had come with a salad or something to help offset the main entrée plate and also still give me a full meal that is another option that would entice me to come back.

Yelp
Wood Ash Rye is an upscale dining experience for the nature-lovers and adventurous type. That may not be their intentional clientele, but that felt like the vibe to me, so I'm sticking with it. Reservations may not be required, but highly recommended-especially during busy days/times. We were lucky enough to walk in on a Sunday morning for breakfast, but that may not be the case. The food is better than average, which aligns with the ambience and overall experience. I didn't see a children's menu, but I did see a child dining with their family, so they may have kid choices available. Get the biscuits. Trust me on this one. And the potatoes. The seasoning is delicious.

Yelp
This place was awesome and I don't know why it's not got 5 stars! We came to St George quite late in the day and it was cold and not super welcoming, so we were super grateful to find that the staff in Wood Ash Rye were warm, welcoming and friendly. They laughed at our strange English comments and were happy to recommend dishes. The atmosphere was great. It's almost Tudor in its wooden design and we loved how there was an open kitchen and a part of the restaurant which was raised up a few steps. The tables were slightly spread out so it felt private. The menu was very uniquely designed. We shared a few dishes when we came for our evening meal, the stand outs of these being the Brussel sprouts (literally the best I have ever tried) and the pork bao buns. Their home-baked bread was also a standout. I liked that it was an almost tapas experience as it allowed us to share and be more adventurous. We came back a few days later for breakfast and it was similarly excellent. The staff were kind enough to let me take a work call from their hotel space, and the breakfast offerings were delicious. I had their cereal bowl, which was fresh and tart, and my husband enjoyed a more savoury egg dish. I can't remember the specifics but he commented on how the potatoes which came with it were very good.

Yelp
Wonderful dining experience with live music at the bar of the wood ash rye restaurant located inside the advenire hotel. The restaurant was fully booked but I was able to snag a seat at the bar in the lobby and it offered the same full menu. The bartender recommended the shrimp and grits and it did not disappoint. It had a bit of a kick to it but well balanced by the maple bacon.

Yelp
It was actually a 2 star experience but giving them 3 stars because I believe the problem I had was maybe Opentable's part not them. Also we got to the restaurant more than 30 mins before the reservation but they still took us. My boyfriend and I were in town for Thanksgiving and I decided to make a reservation at this restaurant ahead of time to make sure we have a place to eat since we were not familiar with which restaurant would be open. I made a reservation through Oepntable and upon making one, it asked me if I wanted a pre-fix thanksgiving menu or regular menu. I picked regular menu coz I really didn't want to pay $120 for Thanksgiving dinner and I wanted to try their regular menu which looked good. When we got to the restaurant, we were told they were ONLY serving Thanksgiving menu. Since we had no idea where else to go, we had no choice but to stay. Food overall wasnt bad at all but I didn't enjoy it that much coz I wasn't really in the mood for it. And I thought $120 was overpriced for that location. Sure they give you LOTS of food, but still it wasnt the best. OpenTable really mislead me and I was so disappointed. And the server wasn't that great either. I felt she was just doing bare minimum.

Yelp
There's so much to Like about this restaurant! The food is delicious the service was excellent. The entertainment is really good. Jake, who plays guitar in the lobby is an added benefit. My one and only complaint is that when you walk into the lobby there is an overwhelming scent of pine that permeates throughout the lobby the restaurant and bar area. unfortunately, it made it difficult to enjoy the experience. Hopefully they can get rid of their "signature scent" and make it breathable for everybody involved. Thank you Laurie Nowak

Yelp
Great meal, great service, great atmosphere! Stopped in for dinner while on vacation. A little tough to find but got a parking space on the street. Our friends ended up valeting. Everything was fantastic but the highlight for me was the gnocchi. We eat gnocchi weekly in my house and it might have been the best I've ever had. Don't skip on the dessert it was great too!

Yelp
Came here for mimosas with several other soccer moms on tournament weekend. There's a cozy little corner room off the bar area that was perfect for us, with comfy sofas as well as a dining table. The drinks were slow (we had been warned by staff but weren't in a hurry) but delicious. The fancy fries and avocado toast were fabulous! Service staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Wow. In the words of my husband, "anyone who questions or dislikes the food should be checked for mental illness" PERIOD. Food was out of this world! For a tiny place like St. George it's shocking it's here! The vibes are immaculate, music was perfect (temptations, Sade, Steve lacy, Michael Jackson, etc OKAY!), ambiance is there. In order of favorite to also favorite: - Brussels, the flavor was excellent, we get Brussel sprouts at every restaurant and they have NEVER been as good as these. - pork chops, insanely tender, as if steak and chicken had a baby. - filet mignon, chimmichurri was excellent as was the cut of steak and the steak was practically butter - biscuits, wow. PERIOD - winter greens, my husband who hates salad was even blown away. The greens were so tender and fresh and it had the perfect toppings, I would've loved a little flaky sea salt but otherwise amazing. - potato Saint, not my favorite, but my husband was obsessed! For me I just wish they were creamier! To add we also got the desert switcha and the house lemonade. So delicious and great palate cleanser! All of that food was only $150.. um HELLO! In this economy?? Felt like I was dining and dashing. Literally only complaint is the chairs. Not super comfy but does it even matter once the food comes?? This will hold a special place for us for sure! Can't wait to go back!

10/10 for atmosphere. Service was just okay. The food was great but portions were kinda small.

Yelp
We have been to Wood Ash Rye a couple of times, once in April and once last weekend. It's funny because our friends and I absolutely loved the Brussel sprouts the most and that's why we returned. I'm also obsessed with the carrots. They gave me a giant fork to fend off anyone who dared eat my carrots unless I chose to share. (Or was it a serving fork meant to make sharing easier? To-may-to... To-mah-to....) While waiting for the entrees, the bread and biscuits were a treat both times. The biscuits are amazeballs. Straight from my husband's mouth, that is how he describes it. My friends ordered ribs and we also ordered ribs and ended up getting 3 of them. That might have been overkill for the group of 8 of us, so we ended up taking some home. Both times, I ordered the Peruvian chicken with mashed Peruvian potatoes. There's a theme with this dish from Peru and the chimchurri sauce was enjoyable. One of my friends was disappointed with the duck tacos because even though they were explained to be deconstructed tacos when she ordered them, she failed to understand that she'd be putting the tacos together herself. I liked them when I had them in April but this time we had so much food that we ordered that I didn't get it this time. The cocktails are delightful and creative and seem to change with the season perhaps. You have to try at least one each time you go. The desserts were all delicious. A perfect way to end an evening. Each of my friends argued over which one had the best dessert. The ambiance is really fun here. It's like Magnolia meets chic eclectic. Our waitress was hilarious, engaging and did her job so well this past visit. Despite being fancier in some aspects, one of the reasons we also returned was because how well the staff treated us. When we first came in April, we came direct from spending an entire day hiking and climbing, and despite how we appeared, they all treated us so well! They are so friendly and welcoming here and it was one of the few places open late when we finished climbing. We love it here and I've been recommending it to all my friends and patients who come to St. George to come and eat here!

Yelp
3 1/2 stars. To start with the service was mediocre however it was mid-day and mid-week. The food was okay, fries were overcooked. Mostly breakfast food items. If you want something out of the ordinary, then you might find it here. The atmosphere was dull the service was OK and the food was mediocre.
google avatar

Todd J.

Yelp
We were staying at the hotel, so we had low expectations. But we were in for a very nice surprise. The food is absolutely gourmet, highly recommend all the sides. The winter salad was amazing, the brussels sprouts were some of the best. Service was also Spectacular.

Yelp
I keep forgetting to write a review for them... I believe this is my 4th time there. Environment: 5 It is always very put together and I think it is perfect for the restaurant located inside a more modern and high-end hotel. Decor is perfect. Service: 5 The first 2 times I was at the bar and the last 2 times I was seated inside the restaurant. Each time, I received great services. Very professional. Food: 5 I had breakfast food twice, I had their stick and eggs once and the french toast once. Both are very good. I can not remember what I had for lunch. But this time I went for dinner, I ordered the potatoes and the Trout. It was so good. They added a little heat to the fish. It works very well. My favorite part? I had their keylime pie a d their homemade ice cream... the ice cream is a must! Efficiency: 5 When I eat at a high-end place, I am not expecting the food to come out like an Asian restaurant (I am Asian, so I know). The food always comes at the proper timing. Average total: 5 stars. If you are in St George, you must stop by and give it a try.

Alysia M.

Yelp
This review is only a review about their Thanksgiving Dinner. I went with my boyfriend and it's now May. We still talk about how bad it sucked. We both agreed that Golden Corral would have been a better option. I've been to Wood Ash Rye not for Thanksgiving and it is good But for the cost and the amount of food we got on Thanksgiving, I'm telling you right now, don't waste your money. Go to KFC.

Yelp
Saturday night in St. George and a party of 8. Tough to find a reservation, but this place came thru for us, and what a meal they put out for us. The menu seemed a bit limited, but really wasn't. The waiter was great at suggesting various shareable items and entrees, and we enjoyed it all family style. A great meal including steak, smoked chicken, lamb, stir fry, grilled veggies, etc. what a great place!
google avatar

Yelp
Food: cooked with love and joy and you can taste it. Unique pairings of ingredients. We stayed in town 2 days and ate here for all our meals because we wanted to try everything. Chefs and staff: thank you. You rock. We love this place and wish we lived here. We'd be weekly patrons. If we visit from Michigan again you will see us here. (Side note: this is a shared dining meaning you order whatever you want and you share it among yourselves. I love this approach to food. And breakfast/brunch here is just as good as the dinner so come for either or both) Service: is friendly and warm. Incredibly fast with refills and food delivery. Ambiance: is funky and homey. Like grandmas kitchen if grandma was cool, trendy and full of good vibes. Located In The Advenire Hotel close to all the shops. Special note: the chef sent over a dish for us to try with his compliments. It was so thoughtful and very on brand for how we have watched this restaurant function. The drinks are also very very good so pair a cocktail or mocktail with your shareable dining experience but do not miss out on this lovely establishment. Still reading?? Don't miss the biscuits.

Yelp
Wood Ash Rye was a terrific experience! We had a group of 7 and we booked ahead on OpenTable and the restaurant accommodated us so well even with a busy, event-filled weekend. The dining experience was intimate with family-style/tapases, which was perfect for our group, with a few entrees listed. Thank you for hosting, WAR!

Pamela K.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Advenire and this was our first dinner in town. Although I wore a casual dress, the atmosphere turned out to be more relaxed-which I didn't mind. Ambiance and decor were top-notch. Our server seated us in a quiet booth by the window. At 8pm, there weren't many people dining and I was a little surprised since it seemed from my research that this was the premier restaurant in town. The cocktail menu was brown-liquor-forward but had a little bit of every flavor you might want. The drink we shared had rye, Aperol, anise and grapefruit and was delicious! We ordered the shrimp with farrotto (like risotto) and this was my favorite. Our filet was small but tasty and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The vodka pasta (we ordered without the pork belly) was good but lacking flavor (maybe because it was under salted with the intention of the pork adding the flavor?) Overall, it was a pleasant experience with two slight complaints. First, a cocktail, a glass of wine, 2 shareable apps and a protein ran us $200 with tip. I thought it was a little steep. We had a more substantial and enjoyable meal the next night across the street at the Painted Pony for less. The worst part was that, before we even received our entree steak, we were the only diners left (it was about 9pm at this point) and the staff began cleaning up. They were congregating and socializing, rolling up rugs and shaking them out. It made us feel rushed and like a hindrance to their evening. So overall, the food and drinks were quality. But I advise to eat early and be prepared for a hefty bill;)

Yelp
The food here is outstanding! So is the service. Our waitress, Summer, was very helpful and attentive. We really enjoyed our meals here and the small plates are perfect!

Laura M.

Yelp
Summer helped us and she recommended the best drink! The Rosebud smoked with cedar. Delicious! We had the porkbelly bao, pasta with gorgonzola, carrots and Brussels sprouts. Everything was perfect!

Yelp
Biscuit = 5/5 Stir Fry = 5/5 Mashed potatoes = 5/5 Ribs = 4/5 Panna Cotta = 4.5/5 Our waiter was awesome. Kept our waters full. Service was awesome. Food was top notch!

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Christina was great and helpful. Great relaxing ambiance. Brunch was delicious. Got the turkey club and pan-cake.
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
Hidden with a hotel and honestly an amazing food by the chefs. The pork belly watermelon is truely the best off the menu. The rich char from pork belly compliments the watermelon's sweet and juicy flavors. Had to order a second serving to share with family back home. A must try while in town visiting.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Expensive for what you get. Service was just ok. Ambiance is pretty good. Just ok not great

Robert G.

Yelp
Ordered food to go from them. The food was mediocre. Scallops are tiny, only 3. Pork chop was sliced and overcooked. Chicken was also overcooked. Their bread tasted like sliced white bread. The shrimp was rubbery. They give you a tablespoon of sweet potato puree under the entree. I had to wait 15 minutes while they tried to find to go cutlery. Maybe they get away with this because they're in a hotel, but it's way to overpriced to be this bad. Avoid this restaurant. There's got to be better food options in the area. The seating area did look nice. To sum it up: it costs too much money to be this bad.
google avatar

Maren B.

Yelp
My 5 star rating here is based primarily on the food which is top notch and arguably, the best St. George has to offer. It's family style and we were in a large group so just ordered 2 of everything on the menu. While none of these dishes disappointed, I felt like the carrots and strip steak were standouts. Service was friendly, if a bit chaotic. We waited a very long time before drink orders were taken and they took a long time to be delivered. From where we were sitting, there was a good view of the bar and the bartender seemed more interested in chatting than making drinks. The atmosphere was comfortable, intimate and upscale and the prices do reflect that but we felt it was well worth it and will return the next time we're in town. Looking forward to trying their brunch as well.

Yelp
The ideas guy for this place is writing checks the staff can't cash. It's a really lovely menu that sounds like it belongs to some elegant place in a big city. At least for the lunch service, it didn't live up to the fine dining pretensions or prices. We asked what fruit was in the "house fruited lemonade." The waiter said "it's just a fruit syrup." "Yeah, WHAT KIND OF FRUIT?" He seemed flummoxed by the question -- not just that he didn't know the answer, but that he didn't understand why anyone would care. "Um, I think it's strawberries or cherries?" No thanks, I actually want to know what I'm getting. Several of our dishes -- notably the pancakes -- sat visibly waiting for the waitstaff under the lights for way too long, even though the restaurant was empty when we came in. The croque madame was the most successful dish. The over easy eggs were just right. Serving it on a tiny plate without any sides or even an orange slice wasn't so gracious, but there wasn't anything wrong with the preparation. The brisket hash came with delightful crispy potatoes. But the brisket pieces at the bottom of the pile were in some kind of orange grease that was painfully salty. The blue corn pancakes supposedly came with "grade A maple syrup." But what came was fake syrup, not maple syrup. If it's maple flavored corn syrup, you're lying when you say "maple syrup" on the menu. Maybe the staff doesn't know the difference. The shaved "prime rib" sandwich was...well, look at it. More like shreds of stir-fried beef. Philly steak, maybe. It tasted pleasant, but not at all what was promised. We would never have ordered this if we knew what we were getting. I'd rather see a hotel restaurant serve what it is capable of doing well -- even if that's short-order eggs.

Yelp
This is simply a marvelous restaurant located in downtown St. George in a boutique hotel. I've been to St. George many times. The food in this city here is good, but mostly catered to quality fast casual food. I was very much surprised by the quality of the food here. Jessie was our waitress and she provided amazing service. Was very good at suggesting dishes to eat and drinks. Very friendly and helpful with suggesting things to do after dinner in the area. I ordered the New York strip steak, which was the best steak I have had in a restaurant in several years. It was perfectly cooked, medium rare, with plenty of flavor from the sauces and salt. Prime, high quality US beef with lots of marbling. I was very impressed with the steak. Frankly, you can eat better steaks here than Fleming's/Mastros. I also loved my rye drink that was smoked. The best appetizer were these potatoes that were cooked on an iron skillet with chipotle sauce, pork belly and Serrano. It was fantastic, spicy, and an incredible start to dinner. You must also try the dulce de Leche Panna Cotta. Best texture, flavor, I've had in Panna Cotta. The kitchen does really good work here. I live in SoCal, am a foodie, and eat at a lot of very good restaurants. This would be one of the better restaurants if placed in Orange County/LA/San Diego. Reminded me of a really good farm to table American restaurant. This is, in my opinion the best restaurant in Southern Utah. Recommend eating here and enjoying some good steak and appetizers. As others pointed out the dishes are meant to be shared. Portions are perfect. We also ordered papperdelle pasta which was house made and tasted amazing. There was nothing I ate here that I did not like. There is only one thing that I would change at this restaurant. The lighting. It's too bright, and reminds you that your in a hotel. I would strongly suggest dimming the lights about 50-70% in the restaurant and in the bar area and adding candles in each table. This is a big quality restaurant and the ambiance should compliment the luxurious of the food and setting. Other than that, no complaints. Will come again when I come back to St. George.

Yelp
Passing through and chose this place on a whim. Coming back through town in 3 days and planning on a follow up visit. While the brussel sprouts were fantastic and the grilled peaches were amazing, the duck tacos and New York strip lettuce wraps were even better. Thanks to our server, Jessie, we knew how to mix the duck taco components together to create the perfect bite. Don't let the casual atmosphere fool you. This small plate sample menu is as good as it gets... anywhere.

Yelp
Wow !! This is a must try in St. George . The restaurant is trendy and the staff are all so welcoming and provided excellent service. Everything on the menu was excellent . I have never tried the Brussel sprouts that were that amazing. The biscuits were freshly made . We ordered the carrots , humus and the miso shrimp . For the main dish I tried the skirt steak with the drunken mushrooms. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly !

Yelp
Had Stevie both at the bar and then the next morning at wood ash rye for breakfast. She was amazing. Ask for her and you won't be disappointed!!! The food was exceptional. The biscuits were to die for. Must have.

Yelp
My husband and I came for a romantic dinner here and it really did start well. We were seated in a very cozy nook and our server was lovely. We started off with miso shrimp which was delicious and the house salad, which was also very tasty. We ordered mains, this was obviously a mistake The papadelle my husband ordered, was too salty and a little overcooked. I ordered the lamb dish which was Greek inspired it arrived the breads were lovely. The hummus was actually the best I've had in the US but the little balls of overcooked burnt meat were pretty inedible. The reason I'm giving three stars is because they took a total of eight dollars off our meal after, I had pointed out they severely overcooked. I am going to share a picture.

Yelp
I avoided Wood Ash Rye for months. After a slew of negative experiences at nicer St. George restaurants I thought it would be overpriced and not that good. I was wrong. Service was impeccable: we went for our anniversary and they took special care of us - Summer checked in just the right amount, took care of an order change easy peasy and remembered any requests and preferences. Food was tasty and unique: highly recommend the Brussels sprouts, pork belly and utah salmon. Would definitely go again.

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks. Definitely more on the expensive side. But if you're not worried about that, live it up, try all the things. The smoking old fashioned and the Brussels are my two fav things on the menu.

Yelp
First Google maps was accurate, we had arrived but their signage was almost hidden. We had to walk around the building to find a sign and the door. Service was great. Food was good but pricey. I guess food prices correlated to the hotel the restaurant resides in. As stated, food was good but would I go back? NO. There's too many other affordable and better eating options in the area.

Yelp
Inconsistent, one visit with our friends was worthy of 5 stars and the second 1 star. This is completely based on the food. Servers and hostesses were fabulous. The food was so terrible the second visit we will not be returning. Honestly I couldn't even eat a few of the dishes, such a bummer because I thought we had found another incredible spot.

Yelp
We ordered the gnocchi with ox tail... way too salty and I almost broke my teeth on 2 bones, for a guy it had maybe 8 to 10 gnocchi with a little oxtail..33 dollars...it was a small plate relatively for a guy buy it was ok and salty, I rated it a 3. My wife had the shrimp... she had 5 shrimp will vegetables... she rated it a 2, it was 24 dollars... the Barata salad was good I rated it a 4.5... the biscuits were good a 4, and the Brussels sprouts were deep fried in canola oil.. talking about inflammatory and bad for you.. I gave it a 3.. they were dry.. pomegranate seeds and maple syrup would have improved the taste but beep fried in canola oil... horrible The service was good.. the food was over priced and not that good as a whole. The salad and biscuits were good. The main main was a 2 to a 3. Nothing comes with a side all a lacarte... I give it a 3.25 for food ...a 2 for value and a 4.5 for service. Overall a 3.5.
