Wood Chipper from "Fargo"

The replica wood chipper from the Fargo movie (1996) is situated outside the North Dakota Fargo visitor center; the actual wood chipper is located inside. The wood chipper is a nice touch, but Fargo has so much to offer and boast about beyond the wood chipper and the movie. Take advantage of the available visitor information located inside the clean and modern building with personnel ready to answer your questions.

It’s just exactly what it says, if you like the movie it’s cool to see, there is a replica outside but if the welcome center is closed you can still see the real one through the front window.

This is a quirky fun tourist attraction. The real wood chipper from the movie, “Fargo” is inside the visitor center and a “stunt double” is outside. It’s all free to see. There’s also an interesting “Walk Of Fame” with concrete imprints of various famous people. Easy free parking. Very helpful staff in the Visitor Center. Souvenirs are reasonably priced.

It is a basic display but still fun. There are also several cement slabs with hand prints surrounding this area. The slabs were moved from downtown to preserve them. Inside the welcome center is the original wood chipper used in the movie, Fargo. The welcome center has many free touring information magazines and some cute souvenir items available for sale. Bathrooms are also available.

One of my all-time favorite movies. The original woodchipper is inside. The double is outside. You can take pictures with both! The people working inside are super kind.

I guess this is the genuine article. It's an interesting artifact from the movie. Anyway, the only thing missing is a foot sticking out of it. The Fargo Walk of fame is right next to it.

I was glad to visit the wood chipper and do a fun video. There area is a little sparse outside of the chipper.

Looks a little smaller than the one from the movie but I guess that's why it's called a movie prop. Easy to access and even easier to take a photo! 😀

5 minutes. That's all it takes to visit the woodchipper. Take the 5 minutes. Outside is a replica, inside is the real woodchipper. Great for a funny photo. Plenty of parking right outside the building. Inside some great little souvenirs. Well worth the 5 minutes.

Are you a 'Fargo' and/or a Coen brothers fan? If you ever find yourself in the Fargo area, be sure to stop by to check out the woodchipper! It's literally set outside of the Visitors Center off the 94, and you can take as many pictures and selfies to your heart's desire. The woodchipper itself is signed by the Coen brothers, and you can actually see other memorabilia from the movie inside the center, such as a signed copy of the original script.
