I'm really shocked people have given this place such good reviews as I have now had TWO crap experiences there and will never go back.
Last year, I remembered feeling like the staff was a bunch of rude, slacker teens, the rink was overcrowded with bad ice conditions and the price was ridiculously high with extra fees to use the pvc pipe "walkers" for kids. I hated it, but my daughter had fun scooting around the rink for about 40 minutes so this year, I decided to buy 2 Groupon tickets so I wouldn't feel too ripped off.
Well, wrong. I still feel ripped off and as soon as I finish this post, I'll be writing to Groupon for a refund. We arrived around 7:40pm on a Friday night and the girl working the register couldn't figure out how to use the Groupon and said we needed to wait for her manager. Then another kid, who apparently is her manager, arrived. He rang us up. We asked for a walker and he said they don't allow them on the rink starting right NOW. My daughter got upset when I asked if she wanted to try to skate w/o it (she's only 5 and only been on skates a few times a year) or just go home and try again another time. She had her heart on skating but was scared to go w/o it. When I told the kid we would only be there about 30-40 minutes, he said it was ok. The since we wouldn't be there long, he'd let us use it and he wasn't going to charge us for it.
Well, by the time we got our skates on, the zamboni was cleaning the ice and we had to stand and wait in a crowd for a long time. Then when we finally were given the green light, the people policing the rink refused to let her use the walker. My daughter was crying, but decided she'd try skating w/o it. Then a bunch of tween aged girls almost mowed us over and she got too scared, so we left.
It was a complete waste of what was supposed to be a fun Friday night together for us.
My main gripe: If you're not going to allow walkers on the ice after a certain time, tell people who are checking in with small children BEFORE you take their money. Then after neglecting to do that, don't promise things you can't guarantee.
What you'll get: an overpriced, trashy roller rink experience in a mall parking lot
Don't waste your money. Go to a real skating rink with a professional staff.
