Nice decor and friendly service. The food was not great which was surprising as it did take a long time to come. I only enjoyed the Grilled mushrooms which was exceptionally good, great taste and cooked well, the peppers were a lovely addition. Otherwise everything else was poor. The Paneer tikka masala had an awful spice that did not make it taste nice. It was mainly sauce with 6 extremely small cubes of paneer. The peshwari naan was probably the worst I've had, hardly any filling on flavouring it might as well have been a butter naan.

Delicious South Asian food and all vegan. Everything we ate was good but I would recommend the Dosas - lentil pancakes. The staff are knowledgeable about the ingredients and helpful if you have allergies. Closes in the afternoon from 3pm to 6pm, which is a shame, and parking in Hampstead is a very difficult without a permit.

Have been to the other two branches in London many times, and the food of a similar standard here - very good. I struggle to believe the negative reviews - I've never had a bad meal at any branch of Woodlands, and can't really understand how anyone could come here and not enjoy it, unless they either fundamentally didn't like Indian food, or had a very blinkered sense of what it should be and weren't prepared to be open minded enough to have a meal without meat. I think the Woodlands restaurants display some of the most intelligent use of spices of any Indian restaurant I've been to, and as a vegetarian the variety on offer is a delight. The South Indian dosas are also an interesting addition to more familiar Indian dishes found elsewhere in the UK. It was a bit dead on the Sunday lunchtime when we visited but that suited us just fine.

Google
Dissapointing quality of food... My curry reheated in microwave!!! Very dirty kitchen, staff not really helpful. Never again! Shame there cooking in microwave. There's so much better and cheaper vegetarian places in London.

I went specifically hoping for a good masala dosa. I was disappointed. The dosa itself was bland, and the filling (which is supposed to be spicy potato) tasted like boiled potatoes with no seasoning or flavour. The dal makhani was good, as was the garlic naan (which was more like a paratha). There is lots of choice for vegetarians but I really do not recommend the dosa, which is such a shame. The staff were friendly and the service was good. But we were the only people in the whole restaurant!

Restaurant completely empty on a Saturday evening. Waiters stare at you whilst you east food, uncomfortable atmosphere. Expensive for portion size but food was above average and tasted fresh. Recommend the dosas, medu Vada - the curries and chaats not great. Decor simple but elegant. Very Average experience.

We had dinner at Woodlands last week. Whilst they have not spared on oil, they appear to have forgetten what it takes to make tasty Indian vegetarian food. A few of the dishes, namely dosa and vada, were completely tasteless and very different from what they should taste like. Disappointing experience and I am not likely to return.

Google
Vegetarian Indian Restaurant. Slightly tatty and in-need-of-a-little-management-love inside and out. It's in an awkward position close by The Heath, with no offices nearby and little local trade (the locals are all in The Seychelles most of the time). So, very often it's barely occupied at all, but there are usually at least two deliveroo bikers perma-parked outside in the evening, so it must have a healthy take-away trade. Or is that for the burger place next door? The menu looks bigger than the Treaty of Versailles, which always suggests that the kitchen is either to ambitious or just serving the same ingredients with slightly different sauces. I had the impression that many of the dishes were just overloaded variants of cream + ghee + spice. The staff are quietly spoken, pleasant and unobtrusive - without the usual corollary of being also difficult to get when you want them. I wish it more success.

Yelp
I have never experienced a restaurant like this ever! First of all, it spells WOODL_ _ DS. Letters are missing which does not give a good impression of the restaurant. We went there because we love Indian food. Tiny portions but very expensive! We ordered idli and vada. Both were hard, like rocks and I couldn't cut it. I hard to use my hands to take a bite. Then we ordered dosas which were okay. We couldn't even think of tasting the dessert after such a bad experience. Being a foodie, I have tasted better food at half a price. I won't recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
In short - no atmosphere, nasty service charge, dirty toilet, reheated food & overpriced portion sizes. AVOID! The restaurant was empty save for one other table when I arrived - absolutely no atmosphere. I should have left then. Proceeded to look at the menu, when the food arrived it was clear it was very expensive for small portions. The waitress didn't seem to know anything about the menu and had to call the manager over. Half my meal arrived within 5 minutes of ordering so it was clearly just reheated. It was taken back until 10 mins later my full meal arrived - obviously reheated for a second time. The portions were small for the prices charged. The dosa was pleasant enough. The Channa Masala is amongst the worst I have ever tasted, and had the most repugnant aftertaste - it tasted like a ready meal prepared days in advance and left to stagnate. I had to drink glasses of water to wash it down. The lemonade was grossly overpriced and served luke warm in a small grubby glass. When I had paid my excessive bill of £20 (I was aghast at the £2.50 service charge!!), I asked for the bathrooms, the staff were clearly disinterested once I'd paid my dues and I was vaguely told "downstairs". There were no signposts upstairs or downstairs for the toilet and when you did find it, you were almost walking into the kitchen as it was right beside the kitchen door, the bathroom was clearly used by the kitchen staff as it was dirty (and had a urinal beside the sink), and I couldn't wait to get out of there. Horrible end to my afternoon in Hampstead.

Yelp
Decent food but expensive and stingy in quantity - the samosa and vadas are small. Some of the side dishes are like achar.

Yelp
We recently moved to the neighborhood and already know that this is going to be a hard place to avoid :) We enjoyed everything we ordered! I have Celiacs, so can't have the dosas here since they aren't gluten free. Because of that, and the prices, Rasa still wins for our veg-friendly Southern Indian food. But this place is a great second place!

Yelp
My friend suggested we try Woodlands after a trek through Hampstead Heath, and she showed her good taste! The three of us shared samosas, the paneer dosa, vegetable kootu, and vegetable biriyani. All delicious, particularly the biriyani and samosas. I believe I also tried their sweet lassi, which was very good, though also very filling.

Yelp
We order food from Woodlands in Hampstead regularly. It is our favourite Indian restaurant in London, and we are actually meat eaters usually! We've tried quite a few dishes, and all are tasty in their own way but our favourites are the Bhaigan Bartha (amazing eggplant / aubergine dish), the Woodlands Kofta, the Dal Makhani and the Rava batter Dosa. We've never eaten in the restaurant, and it looks like most of their trade is takeaway, but we will keep going back for more takeaway food! It's delicious.

Yelp
On our way back from walking all day we passed this place and decided to try it. Am I glad we did. Full disclosure: I believe vegetables are what food eats so trying a vegetarian Indian place wasn't my first choice. Wow. We had a great meal! The vegetable samosas were some of the best any of us have had and the tikka masala with cheese cubes was wonderful. How they made their sauces so creamy is amazing! We also had a dosa that was very good--the only negative was it needed more of the excellent filling. The only dish we didn't fall in love with was the lentils. Good flavor but too soupy for our taste. Highly recommend trying this (even all you meat eaters like myself!)

Yelp
Southern Indian Vegetarian restaurant. They have some great Dosas here and homemade chutneys, which tick my boxes for finding authentic Indian food. If you're vegetarian especially, this is the place to go.

Yelp
Tucked awry in the charming Village of Hampstead in one of London's charming inner burbs, this place serves excellent authentic vegetarian Indian cuisine. Exotic dishes such as okra with yogurt, coconut and spicy peppers, smoked aubergine and other local favorites. Lovely people and tasty food.

Yelp
Delicious! The food is traditional, but feels light bc they don't use a ton of butter--this is really unusual. The Peshwari nan is delicious in particular. Service was slow, but very helpful and accommodating both of our noisy children and our many requests for not spicy food, etc..
