Being new to the area, Woodlands Market in SoMa is just down the street from us, so we stop in quite often. It’s a cool little neighborhood market that’s convenient and easy to pop into when you need something quickly.
They have a wide variety of products for a store its size, which is definitely a plus. The prices are a bit high, but it works out when you’re in a crunch, need to grab something fast, or can’t make it to a larger grocery store with more competitive pricing.
One of the highlights is the salad bar and sandwich counter—both are consistently great. They also have an impressive selection of beer, which makes it a convenient stop for last-minute needs or casual shopping.
My experiences with staff have been mixed. The team in produce and the deli are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful, which really stands out in a positive way. They make the store feel warm and neighborhood-focused.
On the other hand, interactions with cashiers and the person working in the pharmacy/health section haven’t always been great. Some staff members seem unwelcoming and could benefit from additional training around customer interaction. I’ve also noticed cashiers openly swearing while talking amongst themselves, which doesn’t feel very professional. Overall, Woodlands Market is convenient with some great offerings, but consistency in customer service would really improve the experience.
