Woodman's Bar & Grill

Went on a date there and was not disappointed by anything. When we came in we were asked if we had a reservation and we did not. They did find us a seat relatively quickly which was amazing. Who are believed to be the general manager was walking around and thanking people for coming in and he stopped at our table as well. Our waitress was very sweet and we had great service. I had ordered an orange chocolate martini which was to die for in my day ordered a gingerbread mule. The drinks were delicious and the food was as well. He had gotten the beef stroganoff special which looked amazing and I had the fish tacos. The fish tacos were delicious and I had french fries with them that were a little on the salty side but still good. I would definitely go here again and look forward to trying some of their other food on their menu.

Dinner for 2 on the patio was absolutely fantastic. I ordered the Florentine Alfredo with blackened chicken and I must say it was the best I’ve ever had in my life - hands down!! PLEASE do not ever take this off the menu. I will be back time and time again just for this. I used to work at an authentic Italian restaurant many years ago and I have not tasted anything as similar until I had this gem. We loved the atmosphere, the staff and we both loved our meals. I just finished my leftovers and they are still tickling my fancy! 5 gold stars!!

The food here is made fresh and you can taste the difference. My son and I got the smash burgers and the homemade pickles were excellent on the burger. My wife got the crab cakes and said they were wonderful. My son tried the chocolate marshmallow cookie dough cake and it was unbelievable. I highly recommend this place. It also has outdoor seating.

We visited this restaurant while in town for a football game after seeing so many great reviews. When we arrived, we were told there were no available tables except at the bar—even though we noticed more than ten open tables, which may have been reserved. We decided to sit at the bar, but after about ten minutes, neither of the two bartenders acknowledged us. They were engaging with other customers but didn’t say a single word to me or my friend. As women of color, it was disappointing to feel ignored and unwelcome.

Pretty good! High ceilings, clean, and the food was tasty. Risotto is very hard to get right in a restaurant setting....i enjoyed it here.

We stopped here for dinner while in town for a college tour. The people were so friendly. Southern hospitality had nothing on these folks! The owner stopped at every table to be sure everything was okay and spoke to us at length when we were leaving. Both he and our waitress told us all about the town and type of community it was in case my daughter chose to attend the University of Maine. Now the food! We got spinach artichoke dip. Best I ever had! Biggest pieces of artichoke and so cheesy! My daughter got a burger and mac and cheese. Both delicious! I got chicken alfredo. So much food! It was amazing and so creamy. The chicken was perfect. The drink was called a "Flirtini" and was quite yummy. This will be my go to place if my daughter chooses this college!

We did not get to eat but had to come and write just how kindly we were treated. Dewey, the owner, was very apologetic and really didn't have to be. We were touring schools and were tired and exhausted and had no idea there was a hockey game. He took us outside to tell us about the area and offered several other spots to eat. I left saying to my daughter, I think I'd pretty much trust him with our lives. If she ends up in Maine you will have another family of regulars!!

Sooooo amazing! The food is beyond good with unique and high quality pairings. Bar tenders and chefs are top tier. Want something new where you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, go to Woodman's! The only downside is that it is a small and limited space so reserve in advance. Outside or extended tables options available depending on staffing.

Ever since Woodman's opened it's been a favorite of mine. Maybe this 3 out of 5 stars was just a fluke. The food was delicious. I ordered the baked scallops without the béchamel sauce (no gluten or dairy for me), my sister ordered the full-on baked scallops, and my mother ordered the fish and chips. My favorite drink (since living in LA and Boston) has been the French 75 - I was so pleased to see it on their drink menu! I would not recommend the El Diablo. The jalapeño tequila was beyond overpowering. We tried watering it down but it was not drinkable. The Amaretto Alexander was a delectable dessert beverage. We were disappointed with the service. We found ourselves looking around for our server and she seemed rather disingenuous. We all have off days. I still enjoy going there and I like the atmosphere. Like I said, maybe it was an off day. It was my birthday and we were excited to enjoy a night out for dinner after a great movie. There aren't that many options for gluten-free and vegan (if that's your thing). When the weather warms - you can sit outside and enjoy the evening with friends and loved ones.

This gem located about 5 miles from our hotel in Bangor was a nice treat. Superb service and the food was very good! Not gonna lie the fruitini made with vodka and topped with fresh raspberries was delicious. Highly recommend. I'd say it's a little pricey for the servings but the service was top notch. Our meal included two local IPA's and my fruitini, two salmon specials and the Caesar salad.

The dining area was warm and welcoming, very nice atmosphere. The calamari was perfect in every way, the sauce and vegetables were excellent. The food was top shelf along with the service! I highly recommend, very good quality!!

This was one of my go-to bars during my college years. Recently revisited this spot a couple months ago during Umaine Homecoming. Some slight changes have taken place, mainly tables/layout changes but still felt similar enough. It was on both my wife and my list of places we needed to visit. As I mentioned this was one of my go-to bars and this was a spot she would visit during a few trips with her Dad while visiting the area. So, it was a spot we had chances to unknowingly cross paths before we met. Our visit was great, we ordered a giant flirtini as it was a popular drink of choice during my college days and is a perfect drink to share. One of the bartenders even believed she recognized my brother, my sister-law, and me despite the time that had passed. While it is a college town bar earlier in the night they have a great restaurant/pub vibe before the college age debauchery begins! Especially nice when you can enjoy a drink on the patio with the fire pits. A great establishment for the Orono area! Friendly staff, good drinks and good vibes!

While visiting family, we went to Woodman's for dinner. It's hard to decide which was better, the food or the service. We ate at the bar and the bartenders Shawn and Shane were great company. My scallop risotto and manhattan were so enjoyable. I'm looking forward to going back next time I'm the area

Excellent food and cocktails. We hadn't had a great meal out, since arriving in the area. The Woodman's did not disappoint! The OBC beer is def best brewed in the area from our perspective and we hit most of the breweries. The food was top notch. The cream sauce and crusting on the haddock was "chefs kiss". We will be back next time we are in the area.

Great food. Steak and salmon were cooked to perfection. If I could I would eat their green bean appetizer every day. Bartender needs a primer on what it means to make a dry martini but other than that this place is spot on.

We love this place for a lil'upscale (for the area) experience. Let's start with the two areas to sit; outside with some fire circles if you want or just enjoy the deck. Locals range in age from young-adults to gray hairs. The whole place is relaxed. Inside devises into three areas the bar (delightful), tables (relaxed), and the pool tables (polite). As always, we prefer the bar which offers city-slicker style cocktails to delight, local craft beers (tap and can), wines (represent), and specialty cans (ciders, pear, random tasty). The staff is friendly and competent. I chat too much, they categorize me as a Chatty Cath, we all have faults. They know their stuff and I have never heard discouraging word. Clientele and staff are respectful and again friendly. As a professional staff in a college town should be. Food, is ideal. What they can do with salmon is ideal. I get mine seared added to the Caesar salad. This is my go to and what I crave driving around all day. The burgers are excellent and cooked just the way you ordered. There is always some fun funky-dunky takes of an ingredient, so if I'm bored with my usually fair I can take a walk on the culinary side of tasty. Cocktails are, well, ever wish you had a hotel room within crawling distance, so you can over imbibe beyond the Peter of the law. (Not recommended, drink responsibly, Yada-yada!). My go to are martinis right now and their mixologist are properly trained. In summary, this is some of the best food and laid back upscale restaurant locations to be found in Maine. Eat and enjoy with confidence! It one of our go-to spots.

My family went here to celebrate my oldest daughter's 21st birthday. Overall we had a very nice time. The space is warm and welcoming, and includes a pool table and classy looking bar. My daughter ordered her "first" drinks here ( I am not so naive that I actually believe that). She got a Flirtini which featured raspberry vodka and frozen raspberries. She really enjoyed the drink but was a huge fan of her second drink... a lemon drop. I can not vouch for her review since I enjoy beer and would never touch drinks like hers, but she was very happy! Our waitress was excellent and the food was very good except for my patty melt which prevents my review from being 5 stars. My wife loved her Buffalo chicken salad and my daughter really liked her cheeseburger. The patty melt was another story, though. It was a huge lump of ground beef that was absolutely raw (completely cold in the middle) despite my requesting medium rare. I am not the least bit squeamish about raw meat but I am quite sure other people would have sent it back. Actually, what bothered me most was how flavorless it was. The meat was not seasoned at all. It was advertised as having a bacon chutney and a garlic aioli yet was still very bland. Nevertheless, we had a nice time and I would consider trying again

We attended a friends birthday dinner here and the service was great and Ashley our server was awesome. Drinks were awesome and food on on point. The ambiance was great this truly is a great place to go.

Wow! Great everything- service was the best, every employee was friendly and ready to bring us what we needed. Great beer selection, and specialty cocktails- Painkiller, yum! Dinner was delicious veal Marsala with mash, veggies and grilled boneless pork chop, chipotle aoli and corn. Both were very tasty. We met s couple locals at the bar, burger, fish tacos, and gnocchi special looked amazing too. We'll return when in the area, recommend to locals and visitors- no strangers, the friendly staff make you feel comfortable. There was outside seating as well, fire pits and heaters available when needed.

Totally satisfied tonight for dinner. We ate on the patio outside as the weather was perfect. Our server Jessica was friendly, attentive and helpful even twice running back to the kitchen to answer my questions. Place is renowned for it burgers with good reason.Big Juicy and perfectly medium rare with good beefy taste plus fresh romaine lettuce, ripe tomatoes and brioche bun. Had a giant ceaser salad instead of fries. So good! The sausage pasta special was as good as I could ever wish.:sweet tasty sausage, sweet red pepper, spinach, cheese and a garlic wine sauce to die for. Check out their draft and can beer list with many local brews as well as an incentive cocktail program. We are totally satisfied.

I've been wanting to try Woodmans for a while but I heard it was expensive. Finally we decided to go and I'm glad I did. Great service great wine and great food. And best of all it was not that expensive. No more than the average restaurant. We shared the artichoke dip- good but a bit too think. Entrees were steak and mushrooms with fried goat cheese salad. Great! And paparedelle bolenese (spell). Very good! Check it out for your self. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The only reason for the 4 stars is timing was way off. Entrees came out right after appetizers. Slow it down. Would have loved to linger over more delicious wine.

I ordered the Steak Tip salad. It was perfect! I'm a Texas girl and know when beef is cooked well. Highly recommend! Cute atmosphere and welcoming staff

Wonderful dinner at Woodman's! We sat inside (although the outdoor patio looks nice as well) - The service was great, the food was excellent, and beer and cocktails were delicious! We came at the perfect time, because the restaurant filled right up shortly after for dinner. It's a really lovely crowd, with a menu that has something for everyone. We came with our 2 year old, and they were so accommodating and the service was quick too. Highly recommend Woodman's :)

For a small college town; this place holds its own against the local breweries, pizza joints and other pub grub locations. The food is just okay but the friendly service makes up for where the food lacks. My spouse had the Scallop Risotto. Meh...it was alright. The portion size was HUGE though. I had a pretty bland and actually kind of dry lobster roll with a side of mac n cheese. I added some mayo to the sandwich and a lot of salt and pepper to the side dish and it improved the dinner about 10%. Our dining companion ordered the fish and chips and it was probably the best dish on the table. It's hard to mess up fried food though. The drinks were really good. We had the cilantro margaritas. Actually we had a couple of rounds. So... the food is average but the drinks were great!

Woodman's Bar & Grill is an excellent restaurant for people who are looking for a casual date place, or just to eat in general. They aren't too expensive, (their most expensive menu item is $25) but the quality of their food is amazing. Ranging from classic American burgers, to various pastas, their food is delicious. They have a great setup as well, with the familiar "woodman's bar" environment inside, and multiple tables and chairs for outside eating as well. The only con I can think of is the wait. Due to its popularity and the time they spend making the food good, the wait can last anywhere from 15-45 minutes after ordering (but I suppose this is also a great time to make small talk). Other than that, I guess you'll have to see for yourself! Fully recommend. (Apologies for no food pics, I forgot because I was too hungry)

One of the few places in Orono to eat. It's not someplace you can just walk in and get a seat unfortunately. The bar is often full and so is the restaurant. You definitely have to make reservations. The nice part is the food is delicious and the staff are kind!

Great food and vibes all around! The fried pickles are THE BEST! (they are sweet pickles tho, so if you don't like sweet, then maybe this dish isn't for you). Also the flirtini is great as well.

I haven't gone in a long time but always was great. Food was excellent, dining room is neat, always busy, some great cocktail choices. When I'm in the area I try to go to Woodman's.

Been here several times and I am pleased each time. They are the only place around that makes one of my favorite drinks, a Caprinia. Their lobster roll is also well worth the price and satisfying. Just as good as one you'd get on the island. I have yet to dine outside but its beautiful with the tables and several fire pits to sit around and drink with your friends. They've handled they times I've come in with my one yr old very well. However this more of a small bar/grill setting so this isn't a place I would think to typically dine with children.

Crazy good! Great service, great food. We expected little from a campus restaurant but we're overjoyed with our experience. 13/10

Went here last night as a party of five. Great atmosphere, good staff, and delicious food! (Currently sitting next my grandmother who went with me and she specifically told me to add that the calamari is one of the best she's ever had).

I have visited this place 4 times in the past 2 years, it totally inspires me to move to Maine. Each time it keeps getting better, its a great pub atmosphere.The staff are incredibly friendly and all the regulars really help make you feel at home. The only thing that tops the atmosphere is the actual food/drinks.last night I ordered the Sidecar as a drink,I forget what was in it, but it was very tasty I ordered the chicken florentine alfredo, it was amazing. Very flavorful and creamy. Decent sized portion and garlic bread. Lastly dessert was peanut butter pie.it was to die for. Layer of creamy peanut butter cheesecake like filling, then chocolate under that with crust. I can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were on one of our bi-monthly date nights as young parents, so to make a Saturday evening fun and special we decided to go to a UMaine hockey game and stop somewhere for nice for dinner. After browsing a couple places, we decided to give Woodman's Bar and Grill a try since the menu looked intriguing- not your typical bar fare. When we got there at around 5:45 in the evening, it was pretty packed. The bar and every table were full of happy people enjoying their food. The host at the stand told us it would be about a 20 minute wait, given the atmosphere though, we didn't mind. One downside of the experience was that there was no place inside to sit and wait for a table. We had to kind of stand awkwardly next to the door. If it weren't in the middle of winter, I wouldn't have minded waiting outside or something but it was freezing so my husband and I tried our best to stay out of the way and stood and waited next to the door. It was about 20 minutes until we got our table and the staff was really hustling to clean our table and seat us as soon as possible. Our server was really friendly and helpful, and checked in on us frequently. The menu looked so good we had such a hard time choosing a meal! It was really reasonably priced too. For drinks, my husband had a Woodford Reserve whiskey and he was really pleased that they had the large ice cube so it wouldn't get too watered down. I ordered the Java Martini which was absolutely heavenly. I highly recommend this drink. We ordered our food, and it came pretty quickly! My husband ordered a patty melt, medium and I ordered the falafel burger. I'm not a vegetarian, but I love falafel, so I was really excited to see how it came out. My husbands burger was more of a medium rare instead of a medium. But it was still absolutely delicious. My falafel burger was superb! The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the tzatziki was a great accompaniment. It was perfect! We were worried that with the wait we wouldn't make it in time to catch the hockey game, but our server was very prompt with boxing up our food for us and getting our check. We made it just in time! Overall our experience was great! We will surely be returning in the future! If you are in the Orono area and looking for a good bite and atmosphere, I would definitely recommend Woodman's.

Rustic, warm and inviting atmosphere. Engaging bar area. Tofu salad was very tasty. My family loved the steak sandwich and burgers.

Great food and great service. Mashed potatoes were a tad dry but everything else was on par.

The spicy margarita was perfect...often times spicy isn't spicy enough and this hit the spot. The blackened fish tacos are were perfectly done and the opportunity to substitute a side salad for rice and beans was much appreciated.

One of my brand new favorite locations. I have already visited a couple of times. The bartenders are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Inside their is a large L shaped bar with a dining section as well as pool table. A mixed bag for age group

Traveling for business and was told to stop at the OBC for some of the best beer around and while doing some research saw they had this restaurant right across the street. Cool place, casual and unassuming.... Open seating area with a nice bar and oddly a pool table once you walk in the door. Zak the bartender was great and was very knowledgable regarding the beer and food. Had the oven roasted salmon with a cranberry chutney (phenomenal), roasted beets and Lentles cooked in bacon fat (hello!). Tried a beer sampler and all 5 beers were good.

Really great service and delicious food! We sat outside initially but it got a little chilly despite their best efforts with the outside heaters so we moved inside. My burger and fries were amazing and so is the caramel cheesecake. Definitely plan on going again!

We absolutely love Woodman's. The food is always delicious. I always have a hard time trying to decide what to order, but it is usually off the special board. The owners also own Orono Brewing Company. The brewery is across the street. The have a wide variety of OBC beer and several guest taps.

This place is popular and they don't take reservations (contrary to what is listed here). I went with my wife last weekend and we had to wait for more than an hour for a table. We waited on the patio in front of a fire pit and ordered the pulled pork egg rolls which were amazing. Finally, when we were seated we ordered promptly and then proceeded to have to wait another hour before our food was brought out. The couple next to us had to wait an hour for their salads. The manager asked how things were going before we got our meals. When we asked where our food was it came out pretty much immediately after that. Made us wonder how long our food was sitting in the kitchen waiting to be delivered. Both my wife and I agreed that the burgers were over done, even though we asked for medium well. THe burgers were dry and hard to finish. The onion rings and sweet potato fries were delicious. We haven't counted out Woodmans yet and may return in the future. But our first experience certainly didn't live up to the hype.
