Woodpecker Lodge, Kuching Sarawak.

I stayed here on 25th Aug 2025 and had such a pleasant experience! The PIC was very friendly and professional both during the booking session and check-in. They explained everything clearly, from how to use the room and gate card, their operation hours, check-out process, and even how to claim back the deposit if staff aren’t around. I booked the single bed room. Although the size is compact, similar to a hostel for one person, it was very well-equipped with air-conditioning, shower with water heater, and the bed was surprisingly comfy. On my second day, I extended for another night and once again, the staff handled it smoothly. They even recommended a nearby laundry within walking distance, which was really helpful. The place also provides a small shared kitchen area with a water heater, rice cooker, and other appliances, plus instant noodles and coffee sachets for convenience. To my delight, there was also an adorable fluffy cat at the reception area 🐱 which was definitely a bonus for cat lovers! Some rooms even come with a view facing the river, and the night scenery was spectacular. The location is also excellent, just a short walk to the Kuching Waterfront and other attractions. For anyone looking for a budget-friendly stay under RM70, I highly recommend this lodge. Comfortable, convenient, and great service. I’ll definitely come back again in the future! 🤩🤩🤩

Excellent location on the waterfront, nice view and breeze from the rooftop. Fully equipped kitchen with fridge freezer and filtered water, free tea and coffee. Dorm with Aircon ensuite or private rooms all ensuite with fan or Aircon. Oliver and the girls are really helpful and ensure you get the best in this friendly place. 100% recommend.

The rooms are decent and the prices are affordable for backpackers and tourists. Only the animal hygiene needs attention; the smell is too strong.

Very nice hostel/hotels especially for this price. Most of the rooms are fully equiped with A/C and bathroom (if not it is explicitly mentioned in the offering you can choose). Additionally there is a fully functioning kitchen with gas stoves (very hard to find!). Also the owner and staff are extremely helpful and gave a lot of tips for our further travels in Borneo. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Honestly, this is a good stay for backpackers. Plus: Affordable and reachable because near the waterfront, the cat statue and many culinary places. Near the stairs entrance there are foodcourt. Near the sarawak river too so it has a good view. Easy check in, friendly staff, and nice vibe. They also provide the kitchen, and little workspace. Also they have cute kitten. I got a room with only fan with one socket for charging, they have a toilet inside the room with shower and active water heater. They also provide toilet 2 tissues, soaps and towels.. and 3 hangers that is much enough for me. Minus: The room was a bit cramped and hot, the paint was cracked, and at night I was a bit scared because a cockroach came into the room.

Good location..near waterfont kuching..value for money. Staff helpfull. But air conditioner not enough cold..suitable for solo or couple traveler.

The place it s in a great location near waterfront and have a really well equiped kitchen (best pan I have used in a hostal). The only problem in the rooms it s that you can not close your bed with a curtain or similar. The worst it s that I was eaten by fleas while seated in a coach in the shared room. That s why I cant give more than 3 stars. Otherwise, with bed courtains and no pleas, for the price I would definetively give 5 stars

The staff are really friendly and helpful, and there’s free Wi-Fi, a shared kitchen, and even a rooftop area to relax. Plus, they have a few cute cats around that guests love! Overall, it’s a simple, affordable, and welcoming place to stay—perfect for backpackers or anyone traveling on a budget.
