This is a wonderful park with only one downfall, and that's all the homeless people. This one guy full out did his laundry and was letting it dry by the fountain. This is too nice of a place for Atlanta and it's residents and tourists to let it go like that. I'm sure there are churches and shelters for this people to go. The police need to direct them to the right location and not here.

Google
Nice city park, nice greenage. Nice little outside gym area for workouts and a playground for kids and a center area for events. Good meeting place too. Just a fair amount of homeless here.

I had high expectations given the Google description, but there wasn't much of anything when I went. The playground is cool looking but tiny and not very practical.

Google
This is a hangout spot. Not everyone there is homeless. Other than the occasional art installation there's not much to see.

Google
The park is good, especially with its unique fountains. However, the place is quite dirty and has an unpleasant smell. The Atlantic City authorities should address these issues

Vegan vegetarian feed the homeless was a wonderful experience to help the community, spacious Park to hold different types of events

A beautiful park in Downtown Atlanta. Fountains everywhere. Nice benches to sit. However, did not find the place safe. The park is filled with homeless people. Hence would not recommend to visit here anytime after late evening.

Google
Used this park for the last few days to take the dog for walks while staying at the hotel downtown … day or night , weekday or weekend , rain or shine , there is the smell of urine , feces and trash unfortunately . Certainly came across dozens of homeless. Wouldn’t recommend as a family outing . If you’re a single guy staying at one of the hotels however , it’s your best bet to stretch your dogs legs .

Yelp
Super cute and cool park to take a breather in while walking through downtown ATL. I would not say this is a park I'd explicitly travel to, to sightsee, but if you're in the neighborhood and want to be around some trees, have a sit, or let your littles play a bit, this is the place. As some other reviewers mention, there does seem to be a "nice" side and a slightly more sketchy side. But honestly, the "sketchy" side just had a few people milling about that looked as if they may be unhoused. If you've ever been to Portland, you would not think this looked horrible at all. Overall, it was nice to walk through and sit for a bit.

Yelp
Bummer. Really wanted to enjoy this park with my son. A lot of orange construction looking tape around so perhaps the city is trying to revive it. We were there for a few photos cos the sign looks really cool - prolly less than 5 mins. Greeted with a log surround with a bunch of flies at the top of the slide. One and done.

Yelp
When you're out and about in downtown Atlanta, Woodruff Park is a nice place to stop and sit for a bit. The park's got several nice places to sit and relax; its also got a playground and several fountains Overall, this place isn't so amazing that you need to make a point to come and visit, but if you're downtown and you want a nice quiet place to stop for a while, this could be your place :-)

Yelp
I walk through Woodruff Park almost everyday during my lunchtime stroll. It has changed some since I lived in Atlanta years ago with free WiFi and additional seating on one side of the park. Besides that, this park is not Atlanta's best as it showcases Atlanta's homeless population. It is sad to see the sights here everyday but the city has allowed this to be a place where they can congregate. It is actually a nice green space but for those suburbanites that are not used to the city it could be sketchy.

Yelp
Once a beautiful park to relax in during your lunch break, between classes, and/or while touring Atlanta turned into three separate experiences. Depending on which part of the park you end up in you can't have such different experiences, the side on tour my picture from is closer to the Peachtree Center Station and more business operations, the nicer one. The other ones I walk through to get to classes are always filled with homeless people and making the overall experience less pleasant. You do get free wireless in the park but with the craziness of homeless people fighting, it's very hard to really enjoy yourself for too long. Occasionally, GSU and/or other operations take over the park to host events but that's just a few times throughout the year. Nice remodel of the park over the last couple of years but still not what it uses to be years back.

Yelp
Simply stunning---my photos say TEN THOUSAND words;) Water everywhere, tulips so pretty, yes--I did stop to "smell the roses". Plenty of European-like sitting at bistro tables. Awesome

Yelp
Came here on a whim because we were driving in downtown and saw the cute atl sign. Parking is a bit hard to find because it's in the city, but if you're okay with driving for a little and finding street parking then it shouldn't be an issue. The park isn't large, but if you're going to come for a walk I guess it'll suffice. There are plenty of food places nearby to grab some food and drinks so it's conveniently located in the center of everything. I wouldn't necessarily be back, but it was fun to visit.

Yelp
Such a cool urban park in the middle of downtown, my family and I had so much fun exploring the area. Street parking is limited so we decided to catch the street car and it dropped us off right at the park. There's a beautiful wood ATL sign with a build in play area which includes a slide. Yes, I skid down it! Across the street, there's a beautiful water feature.

Yelp
Woodruff Park is pretty much like a urban park with an affluent feel to it. This is where many Atlantans and GSU students go to relive themselves of the stress of everyday life as well as sit down and have lunch and also relax. There are people here that play chess and watch people walk by. The tress surrounding the park and the water fountain play a pivotal role in helping people survive the heat and humidity Atlanta is infamous for. Woodruff Park is steps away from Underground Atlanta and conveniently has an Atlanta Streetcar stop next to it for easy access to the most popular Atlanta hotspots. Woodruff Park is playing a major role in the progression and revitalization of this great Southern city and adds to the beauty of Downtown Atlanta.

Yelp
I attended a festival here (the German Bierfest, which as a side note, was awesome!) and for sure I like the fact that more and more events are headed to the park. It is very MARTA accessible for events, and I was able to find decent parking for five bucks on a weekend. It's pretty much a big green space, but if you live or work downtown, I'm sure that it's a nice refugee from your cube and a chance to roll your toes in the grass a bit. Being very close to our infamous Underground, there can be some characters walking around. And you can buy a fake Coach bag around the perimeter of the park too. But the park overall is quite pleasant and a nice reprieve from the concrete and glass surrounding! Also, according to the Atlanta Downtown's website, they have music every Wednesday in April, May, September and October during lunchtime!

Yelp
I don't know why people are hating on this park, but I enjoyed it! Although, FYI, I did come here late at night with a group of people when no one else was around, so maybe that changes things. If so, check it out at night time, then! Beautifully decorated-all the trees had lights around them for the upcoming holidays glow. There was great, relaxing music playing and there's a huge waterfall in the back (great picture opportunities!). Also some statues littered around the place for some random photos. Great place to check out while you're downtown, since it's smack in the middle of everything. Seems like a good place for a concert/show, too.

Yelp
The park is large and there seems to be a good deal of green space, but the drawback is there seem to be a lot of homeless people hanging out in and around the park.

Yelp
I cut through Woodruff Park almost every day and find it particularly beautiful during the holidays. I love the sculpture of a half-naked woman holding a large bird skyward. It probably holds historical significance of which I'm unaware. Either way, against a backdrop of Christmas lights and wreaths, the statue warms my heart. She also shines when enhanced by burning orange fall foliage. In my opinion, Woodruff Park is not a place to sit and contemplate life or read. Solicitation for cash is common, along with monologues by religious zealots and paroxysms by crazies of the vulgar kind. That's a downtown Atlanta park for 'ya.

Yelp
Woodruff Park is beautiful. An enjoyable place that is friendly for pets. I enjoy the walk through the park. One of the best things about Woodruff Park is its location; a great place to picnic with good city views! The only drawback is there are lot of homeless people hanging around

Yelp
This park has gone through major beautification process in the last few years. Lots of beautiful flowers and trees. It is currently being decorated with holiday lights. It's a beautiful little park located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, between the business district and Georgia State University. Although there are many homeless people that hang out in the park, the GSU police station is right across from the park and the park ambassadors are on site all the time.

Yelp
A BEAUTIFUL OASIS! This park pops up in the middle of the city like an oasis in the desert. It is so cool and the powers that be have done a wonderful job of making this a warm and welcoming park. At the center of the park is a chess court where you can find various chess games in progress. Bordering the park are beautiful planters with plants and umbrella tables to provide a place where you can sit and enjoy your lunch. There is a water feature in this park but it is not operable at this time. It is a relatively small park but provides a nice respite from the heat, noise and stress of the city. Within the park, you will find circuit equipment for exercising and people just quietly passing through or just sitting to chill in the cool breeze provided by the many trees providing shade. Although there are also "characters" in the park, they are relatively harmless and simply add to the varied landscape. A nice place to stop and "smell the roses".

Yelp
I came here because I saw it online and it had an "ATL" sign, which I wanted to take a picture with. I arrived here and was definitely disappointed. The letters of the sign have a build in playground. That part was pretty good and I was able to get some good pictures and videos. But aside from that, this place had little to offer me. I could not take a nice stroll, I honestly wouldn't even have a picnic here. However, a nice thing about this park, was the water structure across the street. I took some good pictures and it is nice on the eyes. Parking is another pain in the rear too. I am not sure if I would come back here.

Yelp
Atlanta has a lot of parks most of which are the size of my backyard. This one is no different. It is small, tranquil, and in the heart of Downtown. I like coming here when I am in the area. It has character. A lot of times you can catch people playing chess, preaching, on lunch breaks, college students, etc. It offers a variety of good eats and boutiques for random urban clothes shopping. I have never had a bad experience here. I love to people watch and this place has a plethora of yuppies to judge.

Yelp
I'm giving Woodruff Park 2 stars because according to Deanna J's review, they are holding events here now. Perhaps as more events are held here, its parklike qualities will improve. Also, there is MARTA accessibility and a wide variety of cheap eating in the nearby "Village" area. (I don't know why it is called the "Village" but I heard other GSU students calling it that when I went to night classes there.) Were it not for the above factors, I would be rating Woodruff Park a solid "1". Just hearing its name reminds me of all the times that I had to make the terrifying trek across this dubious greenspace on my way to and from classes in GSU's Aderhold building. I do not recommend a trip here at night. Ever. On several occasions, I have caught the odor of urine and pot while walking across its length. It's not that I have any real issue with the smell of marjuana, but anyone who is willing to smoke pot in the open air RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM A POLICE STATION is probably not someone I want to meet alone in the dark. While I respect the idea of trying to keep Atlanta green, I think this "park" has a long way to go before it will live up to its name.

Yelp
Located in the central downtown area, Woodruff Park is truly a small beautiful gem! We were just walking by and was impressed with the few artworks like the "Atlanta from Ashes" statue, the giant ATL sign-slides, and the magnificent water wall. This is definitely a great place for a quick sightseeing trip or a relaxing break!

Yelp
Woodruff park has soo much potential. The area is beautifully decorated and you can rent and play board games and ball games. My only major concerns is the amount of homeless people who over populate the area making it hard for families who are touring or want to come out and waste some time in the park to have their kids out due to safely precautions. The city of Atlanta should invest more into more homeless shelters this was a issue when the Olympics came in 96 and it is still a major problem. Until something is done, I will just walk right past the park and enjoy it from a good distance.

Yelp
Usually I'm cutting through here to go to class, but I took the little one and his friend here and realized its a pretty cool spot to hang out! At the guest desk you can borrow balls for kickball, the sacks for the corn hole game (is that right?), and the playground kept them pretty occupied as well. For those of you with the "There's too many homeless people" complaint, they don't hang out on they playground so no worries there. Definitely visit during the holidays, doesn't matter which one, they always have some type of cool display and the love changing the fountain colors which is always a treat (Who doesn't want to see a fountain of Pepto-Bismol on Valentine's Day?) Get out and enjoy!

Yelp
I've only come to this park for German Bierfests and jazz events. It's a great venue for events. If I lived downtown I would be here more often, but Piedmont Park is my Atlanta park of choice. It's conveniently located right of the Five Points Marta station.

Yelp
This is a park in downtown Atlanta in which it isn't your typical park where people go to hangout and enjoy a nice day. Instead it's a place where people walk by or stop by to eat lunch during the weekdays to enjoy their lunch! They do have a near playground that spells out ATL which is pretty cool looking but overall nice park to cruise by if you're in the area but not worth making a special trip too
