Absolutely beautiful and charming!
Woods Hole Inn was the perfect spot for a Valentine's Day getaway. Even during the off-season, they don't skimp on the perks.
We opted for the late check-in and arrived around 7:45pm (NOTE: Be sure to tell them you want late check-in, or you might get fined.). First off, the girl at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. She signed us in and gave us a tour of the common areas before walking us to our room. It was definitely a much needed warm welcome after driving in from Boston on rush-hour, snow-slick roads.
The inn itself was gorgeous. I loved how updated the whole place is; it exudes relaxation, comfort, and coziness. There's a iron stove in the front living room that is lit during the day and it's the perfect spot to warm up when you come in from the snow. We stayed in the Nonamessett Room and it was as comfy as it was beautiful. Everything was updated and modern, but with rustic lines and accents. There was a private deck outside, too, that overlooked the ferry. Even though it was cold outside, it was nice to stand out there for awhile and just enjoy a mug of the tea and the winter air.
Breakfast was delicious. It was warm, simple, and tasty. The buffet of quiches, Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, granola, pastries, croissants, eggs, bacon, and more will definitely get your day started on the right foot. The baked goods and puddings change every day, so you don't really get tired of eating it. At night, they usually leave out fresh baked cookies for late-night nibblers; since it was Valentine's night, they also had chocolate-covered strawberries. Mmmmm.
Location-wise, this place is the bomb-diggity. Literally steps from the ferry and surrounded by local restaurants and cafes, the centralized location made everything really convenient. We drove to the Nobska Lighthouse to watch the sunrise and it was only a five minute drive. In better weather, I can imagine biking there would be a lot of fun. We also visited Martha's Vineyard before the blizzard hit and having the ferry right there made it easy to plan our trip to the island without worrying about parking. Speaking of, there is limited parking in the back -- there are about ten-ish parking spots in the back, and if you leave your keys with the desk when you leave, they sometimes rearrange cars to accommodate all the guests. I think there's a one car per room limit.
Overall, I would highly recommend this inn and I will definitely be back.
