Where To Drink With Friends From Out Of Town

"Chances are, your friends are a healthy mix of a) exhausted from the road trip over and b) down to party. When this happens, you should find yourselves at Woodsky’s, a calm spot that works for all energy levels. Drink alcoholic Hawaiian punch “avalanche” slushies, watch snowboarding on TV, and shoot whiskey together on a massive shotski. If it wasn’t clear, this bar is snow-lodge themed, so you get bonus friend points if anyone in the group dabbles in winter sports." - aimee rizzo

Woodsky’s - Review - Fremont - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Woodsky’s is a calm spot that works for all energy levels - whether you’re hosting out-of-towners who listened to a screaming child for hours on the flight over, or a birthday party with 20 of your friends. Drink alcoholic Hawaiian punch “avalanche” slushies, watch snowboarding on TV, and shoot whiskey together on a massive shotski. Tuesday's and Thursday's Karaoke Nights at Woodsky's are the best! The sound here is amazing, you can really sing your heart out. Shout out to Edwin 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 he's just killing it and makes everyone feel welcomed here. Karaoke starts at 9:30pm but definitely get there earlier to get settled in.

Google
If you are looking for a bar that only wants to provide a good time, this is your place. Not a paid review, just an honest patron. Very sociable bartenders that seem like they want to be there and welcome all types of people. Seen the bartenders come and go throughout the years and all they seem to get a very social and good natured. Easy to talk to. Good TV, good beer and food, great staff, good prices....what more do you want from a bar?

Frank Krajewski

Google
The staff were welcoming. The atmosphere friendly. They have a good variety of beer. I recommend it highly.

Joe Cacioppo

Google
Cider is the local dog running around the bar. Sweetest dog ever. Got to pet her while drinking a mezcal old fashion and listening to Brandy by Looking Glass. Can't beat that to start off my night. 5 stars!

Google
Woodskys is by far the best bar in Fremont! Always look forward to popping in and catching up with the extremely friendly staff! Keep up the good work guys and hope to see you again soon!!

brennen fentress

Google
One of the best bars in the Fremont neighborhood. Staff is awesome, drinks are abundant and atmosphere is so welcoming; highly recommend stopping in and having a bevy or two!

KC LOWERY

Google
Pretty chill snow sport themed tile floored tavern with candid bartenders and a Washington apple that hits the spot. It was the less crowded more chill vibe for social time in Fremont.

Google
A great spot to grab a drink. The bar is very laidback. They play good music but the kicker is you can actually hear your friends talking to you unlike most bars.

Warris B.

Yelp
Extremely rude service to paying patrons. Very unpleasant staff. Unfortunate because who doesn't love a good dive bar
google avatar

Trisha F.

Yelp
These guys are the greatest. Friendly and easy to talk to, they are the kind of staff that you hope to find in a local cozy bar. I've also found the patrons here to be among the best kind. Highlights include innovative fruity shots, the "ski" shot, goldfish races, snowboard benches on the picnic tables, awesome outdoor patio, great staff. I love this little place!

Yelp
I went to a bar, with some friends, and we each had one beer. We played a simple drinking game that was pretty quiet, and we were asked to stop slapping table tops which a subtle part of our game. After that, a girl in our group slapped the table one last time literally while our group was walking out and this dude who works there screams at our whole group "get the F*** out"! It was 1AM, at a bar, and a girl hit a table top ONCE with her open hand while her friends were getting ready to leave. I don't know what's more benign than that. And I really don't appreciate a business making such a calm night suddenly become so negative. Truly the only reason I ever liked this place was because it reminded me of chair 9 out by Mt. Baker. This experience was incredibly negative because of the employees I interacted with, I won't be going back.
google avatar

Bre H.

Yelp
Rude bartender. Wasn't rude to me personally but I saw the hipster bearded bartender be extremely rude to the table next to me. Overpriced drinks AND rude bartenders? No thanks

Yelp
Love this place. Jared and the staff are super friendly. Always have a good time and enjoy the chill vibe.

Yelp
Super chill ski bar with cheap beer in Fremont. My friends and I went for there for a drink after taco Tuesday and stumbled upon goldfish racing night. Let me tell you, if you've never raced goldfish, it's something you must try at least once. It's oddly exciting and people get really into it. Let's just say I might have to become a regular here.

Yelp
So I have a broken ankle with a knee scooter. It has cupholders. I accidentally take an empty glass outside. I come back in after a smoke and I guess the bouncer told the bartender, so the bartender is unnecessarily stern with me about the matter. Meanwhile, I'm just thinking: 1) it's your bouncer's job to catch this stuff, not my drunk ass. 2) your bouncer is preoccupied with his damn husky inside the bar 3) they already let a Doberman run into the bar and pee on stuff so fuck off if you're going to get mad at me. 4) this bar acted like a dog park
google avatar

Yelp
Want to feel at home in your Northface? Woodskys fits the bill. I don't snowboard... I don't ski... however I do drink. And this place is totally worth checking out. Friendly laid-back bartender, interesting decor, and lots of vodka options. I wish they carried wine... but that's ok, I forgive. $1 PBR on Wednesdays... so when I decide to pay for date night, I think I will take my boyfriend here!
google avatar

Akvile D.

Yelp
Finally! A dope ski/snowboard themed bar in the Seattle area! I love it! I went here before when it was Woodskys and boy is it WAY better now! Great spot, cool atmosphere, there are snowboards, skis, all sorts of NW ski related stuff as decor, and it has a good feel to it. Stopped in last night for a drink with the hubby and it was empty, but one drink ended up being two hours later and we were talking and laughing with the one owner/bartender the entire time as if we already knew each other. It was fun and I look forward to going in there again! Check this place out if you are a mountain shredding fiend and like a good yet laid back bar...or even if you aren't and are just in the Fremont area. They even have some really awesome deals on happy hour..can't complain about that! By the time we were heading out, more people were coming in...so stop on in and grab a drink or two!

Yelp
Fucking rad. There are so many amazing things about this place. The new bar owner is pretty funny. You'd think he was the busboy, at least we did. The bar manager is so rad and down to earth. He's a true hippy for sure ;). If you're having a shitty day this guys presence will make your day better. He's funny as hell. The other barkeep that was there... He was sorta rude when he served people but I won't waste my time with that. I'm not one to do shots but with these rad ski shots they have happening... Tequila please!!! lol they have some bored games and cards too, not a lot of bars do that. Check this place out if you are looken for a low key spot.

Yelp
Had a decent experience myself, but bar tender publicly shamed a group for not tipping over the PA, then told them to leave. When they didn't, he poured out their drinks that they had paid for. Should you always tip? Yea probably. But tips are fundamentally optional and not grounds for kicking someone out or taking away product that was already paid for.
google avatar

Nicole D.

Yelp
Third time to this bar. Third time I thought the bartender must own this place because the real owner wouldn't employ someone to talk poorly to customers. First time I came it was very busy and wrote it off as frustration and gave him a few extra forgiveness points being in the service industry in the past. Third time, unacceptable and only people in the whole bar. He made fun of my friends right to their faces and acted like pouring drinks for us was painful for him. Don't know his name (big guy) and I won't be back to find out.
google avatar

Cameron S.

Yelp
Actually the worst bartenders ever. And that's just the way I like it. It's the only place in Seattle that you can go to where they aren't going to wipe your ass for you if you're being an idiot. Do something stupid? Being disrespectful? You're out. Simple as that. Best bar in Seattle.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, this is a hidden gem. I have lived in Seattle my entire life and this is by far the best bar I've been to. It isnt trying to be anything but what it is. Love you all.... Isaac, Edwin, And Jared -Do a shot ski

Yelp
Very nice and chill little bar in the Fremont area of Seattle. Ski themed as everyone else has mentioned. All the stuff up on the walls all has to do with this theme, and even their drink specials themselves are Ski and Snow related. They even had a few TV's up on the walls playing highlights of skiers and snowboarders doing some pretty gnarly tricks. Even though it's a pretty small little spot, it's still darn fun. Loved the hip hop music they played and they were also playing Braveheart on their TV. Honestly, it's a very nice little spot for a drink and it seems like one of those local spots that is too precious to pass up.

Yelp
great shotski, great service, great vibes -- happy birthiversary to ingy, the queen of everything
google avatar

Yelp
Shoutout to the bartender Josh for making my birthday the best :) He is a funny, easygoing guy who knows how to do his job right. This spot is poppin. 1) They play old school 90s hip hop music. 2) They have a bar dog here who stays at the bar. He's so cute and cuddly! 3) YES. Ski shots. You take shots in groups of 4 or 6 and it's so fun!! This is the spot to go on the weekends for a fun night with friends. It's not as crowded as capitol hill.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Love how the owner responds to practically every negative review with absolutely zero tact EXCEPT the one thats racist AF by Saloms (no response there, strange). Ive been to this bar and the service is terrible. The barrels could serve me quicker and at least they remind me of Donkey Kong. This place is up its own @ss for god knows what reason. Go hit up that 7-11 instead, at least you're in and out quicker than this place can complain about tips on dollar beer night.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Will continue to come back Over and Over And Over again!!!!! Love this place still dirty in it's own kinda way!! Have recently joined the gender struggle... I'm guessing so it's in Fremont.. any way can't count how many times I've been thrown out of this bar.. who hasn't.?... but I will always come back new door guy.. he's ok for now.. see ya next weekend
google avatar

Yelp
I love love love this place and can't wait to come here again. It's soooo fun. So chill. It's kind of small here, but still great for groups. Nice hang out spot. I love the shotskis. We had a big group, but loved the challenge and, I can't wait to do it again! I'm excited to come here for sure. The bartender was so nice too. Took photos for us :)
google avatar

Lola M.

Yelp
Holy hell. Their cocktail menu touts homemade ingredients and zero prices. If you're going to shoot my drink out of a soda gun, don't charge $9. I exchanged my drink for a shot because nobody in my party wanted it for free, and the bartender did nothing to veil his disdain. PLEASE.
google avatar

Jackie C.

Yelp
The service is terrible here. Would never recommend anyone to come here. The bartenders think they are way too cool for anyone that pretty much isn't a local at the bar itself. Guess what woodskys you have to treat people with respect even if things don't go your way. Be nice to others. What do you expect out of life if you're just a huge jerk to people. I will give credit to the bouncer being a sweetheart but please keep your rude comments to yourself. No one needs your projections poured upon them. If you're thinking about going here please think twice about it. there are neighboring bars next to here that will treat you with respect. LTD for example has people with good attitudes that work there even if things don't work in their favor. #boycottwoodskys

Yelp
It's a fun Ski bar in the city . To me it was like finding the locals bar in a ski town . I missed out on the goldfish racing I hear it's a must see if your around when they do it . The staff was nice .

Sean E.

Yelp
Been coming to this place for close to 10 years and don't plan on stopping any time soon. Good music, plenty of space indoor/outdoor, ski videos on all day, cheap drinks, no line, and goldfish races on Tuesday nights... What else could you want?? Having interacted with the various staff members quite a bit over the years, I assure you the negative reviews on here are more a reflection of the people writing them than they are of the staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Uhhhhhh I think I'm in love with this place!!! Lol! Came here basically on accident with a group of friends last night. It was freeze your butt cold out and so not that many people were out in general but compared to the pictures this place was pretty dead. We walked in and one girl in the group was complaining, "let's go somewhere with more people, omg" but as soon as the door opened you could hear they were playing old school r&b so we stayed and it quickly changed to Christmas music?!! WINNNNNING! And then.. I experienced my first SHOOTSKI, two times!! And on top of that!! I heard they do gold fish races?! Just one pleasant surprise after another. What a gem of a place this is! And.. I found myself staring at the walls and ceiling, so many cool and interesting things to look at!

Jordan S.

Yelp
Horrible service and overpriced drinks. Then proceeded to see a group get kicked out cause one person didn't tip. Bartenders dumped out their drinks in front of them and intimidated them. You can do group shots on skis, so there's that at least.
google avatar

Corinna K.

Yelp
GOLDFISH. RACING. Suck it, PETA, goldfish racing is amazing. $5 entrance fee, you catch your fish from their tank, name it whatever your heart desires, and strategically use a squirt bottle to help it race down a trough. Best goldfish name wins a free shot, race champion wins all of those entrance fees. Apart from the racing this bar is pretty unremarkable. The bartender was a touch slow to take my orders, his priorities being chatting with his friends and getting drinks for people who showed up after me, and the drinks were pretty weak. But who gives a shit when there's GOLDFISH RACING?
google avatar

Christopher M.

Yelp
Accidentally took a sip of the cup that held my goldfish thinking it was a beer. The bartender looked at me like I killed his son and immediately kicked me out.
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
Wow, after years and years of being a loyal customer - often throwing parties there - the bartender was so rude to us we were forced to leave. The bar was empty apart from two women he was obviously hitting on and ignored us for ten minutes. When we asked for help he continued to ignore us until finally we got up, the women he was serving apologized to us and he said "yah, have a great night"... I don't know what happened to the bar I used to love but it isn't what it used to be
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
So this is usually a good spot to go to watch sports when all the other dbag bars are full in Fremont. However, today the bartender has red eyes and is pouring liquor on the floor as he pours his drinks. I'm not mad at that, it's more of me standing at the bar for 15 minutes and him purposely serving everyone around me. I've been in the service industry for over 20 years and this place is dead the majority of the time. Way to scare off business guys.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
I've never felt so disrespected. While at this bar with my friends, we ordered many rounds of drinks over the course of the night (and we've been to this bar a handful of times before). Tonight, my boyfriend ordered a round of 6 fireball shots (after already ordering, paying for, and tipping on a few other rounds of drinks). The bartender immediately called him a cheapskate, and harassed him for not tipping more. My boyfriend said he's already tipped well on multiple tabs tonight, and felt the tip he left for the 6 fireball shots was fair. The bartender yelled at him, called him names, threatened to kick him out, and then pulled the shots back and said he wouldn't give them to him (though he'd already paid for them) until he admitted that he tipped poorly. My boyfriend "admitted this", got the drinks, and we left. This is absolutely the worst service I've ever received. We are a group of Gonzaga graduates, have always considered this a fun zag bar, but will not be returning. The bartender shows the poorest service I've ever experienced. Such a shame. I don't recommend going here.

Yelp
Myself and a friend were travelling up the West Coast and had a week in Seattle. We ended up going to Woodsky's at least once every day we were there. Perfect vibe, great locals and the Shotsky (shots done from glasses inserted into a ski). Drinks are a good price and it's a generous pour. What kicked it up to a five star review is the friendly staff and locals we met in Woodsky's. Not only was it great for having a few drinks, but we got local knowledge about what to do while in town, where to go and where to avoid. Would recommend hitting this place up on any day of the week if you're in town. It's really well located and is a must see for anyone heading to Seattle.
google avatar

Rick C.

Yelp
This is a fun bar! Snowboard and Snow Ski Theme interior and exterior deck. It's in an old house on one of the main streets in the Fremont District. We enjoyed the active young clientele and everyone was having a great time. If you visit Fremont, make sure you have a "Brewsky" at "Woodskys"
google avatar

Billyum B.

Yelp
You really know what you're getting from this down to earth fremont bar. Have had some truly blissed out experiences on the patio. Ya haven't lived until you've seen an international berlin based DJ thump their own track for the first time on this patio.
google avatar

Song K.

Yelp
The service is amazing here. Quick and attentive and pretty amazing for two people to run. It was neat to see how random people will just come and go from this place. It is as if they knew one could stop by on a busy weekend and still get a drink in a reasonable amount of time with some quality. This establishment cycles through lots of people and I find the barrels in the middle of the room very considerate as they don't take up too much space (sans chairs) but provide a good place to put your drinks at a good height. It also creates a nice collaborative space which I appreciated. I loved the theme of this establishment and seemed consistent throughout. Even the Shot Skis they have around the place too ;). The layout was good and even with a crowd of people, getting through was ok. They have 2 unisex bathrooms which cycled out a line of people pretty quickly and I had no issues with the cleanliness of them since the customers seemed to be courteous enough to keep them clean. Thumbs up! The pricing was average but unexpected since it looked like a lower overhead establishment next to LTD and had a nice dive feel to it which I liked. But the bill matched that of being in Seattle downtown. I had 6 drinks and 5 shots on my tab. My bill with tip came out to $145. I was not offered an itemized bill so I was not sure what my tab looked like but it seemed a bit more than I expected for this establishment.

Yelp
woodskys is a place I will never recommend going to in Fremont. so many other bars in fremont and ballard that are way better
google avatar

Felicity B.

Yelp
Fun bar to hang out at or watch games. The staff are great and definitely make the place. Have to come for goldfish racing! Lots of fun novelty at this bar but never feels gimmicky.

Yelp
I live just a few blocks from this bar and I've been going there consistently for about a year. I've had multiple experiences where the service has been unpleasant, but I've worked for several years in the industry and tend to be very forgiving of industry workers in most situations. I'm also just a young kid who enjoys dollar beer night, so I haven't put too much stock into it until tonight. On a number of occasions I've been the only person at the bar and evidently ignored, I've seen people get called out for either not tipping or not tipping well enough, and I've seen customers be publicly called out for using the bathroom without paying for a drink right after they finished paying for their drink. Tonight was the final straw for me. I was ignored by the bartender both when i wanted to order and when i wanted to close out while he was obviously not busy (on his phone, shooting the shit with friends, smoking a cig outside), and when i did close out and still tipped 50%, i accidentally walked out with half a beer still in the plastic cup. I was standing outside smoking for a few minutes before i realized, and quickly poured the beer out. A minute or so later the bartender came out, called me a bitch, snatched the cup from my hand, threw the remaining little bit of beer in the cup on me, and said "fuck you" as he walked back inside. I tried to explain it was an accident but he just kept saying "yeah right fuck you", and honestly he's a big intimidating dude and I'm a skinny basic looking white girl, i felt completely humiliated, scared, and helpless during the whole situation. I've put up with a lot of shit from this bar and somehow keep going back, but at this point i don't feel safe or welcome there anymore. For a bar that is going for that chill 420 snowboard vibe, it does a poor job at hiring friendly and chill staff, like who shits their pants like that when a stoned stoner does a dumb stoner thing at the local stoner bar. (Right after this incident, another dude did the exact same thing but was lucky enough to notice before he had to face the wrath of Jared the Bartender™). I've been giving this bar 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th chances but I'm not down to be called a bitch by some salty ass bartender. I've had rough nights serving people too dude, not an excuse to blatantly and repeatedly disrespect loyal and polite patrons. Also he never carded me so liquor board, do your thing.
google avatar

Heather K.

Yelp
This is a seriously fun unpretentious little bar in the heart of Fremont. Great vibe with lots of snowboarding videos, some games & a few tables. Can get crowded quickly but service is still great & the crowd is usually very fun. The best part is the shotsky - a bunch of shots lined up on a ski so all your friends can take them together. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Riky S.

Yelp
I didn't realize I loved this place until I got engaged there (no joke) Now I'm sure it will be the place of many more fond memories and some that i won't have the sobriety to remember! Cheers :)
google avatar

Jenny D.

Yelp
Popped into Woodskys on the way home from the Hawks game last Sunday. It was pretty dead but the music was playing and the bartender Missy was friendly! Decent selection of beer, typically priced for Fremont (about $5 a pint). Also, they have Fireball on tap. That's aggressive! :-) I was also told that Woodskys is very dog-friendly. I did not have my dog with me, but I will head back on another slow night to verify this.

Yelp
I give it two stars because everything is worth a second chance... (see update below) I came in one night after work at about 11pm with a friend. We used to come here all the time when it was Sinners & Saints, and it was difficult to find a place to sit with the crowd packed in. This time the place was empty. We were the only two patrons in the bar for over an hour! The service was lacking. When asked what we wanted, I opted for my friend to order first. She ordered, the drink was delivered, and then the bartender walked away... When she came back 5 minutes later to check her laptop, I managed to get her attention and order a beer. The place used to have a great atmosphere, and now all I can do is wonder what the owners will do once the winter sport season ends. Points for creativity though: their drinks menus are printed on snowboards and mounted to the walls. I think that was the ONLY thing I liked. What a shame. UPDATE: I've lowered it to one star, because I doubt I'll ever give it a second chance. This year during Oktoberfest I had to park a distance away - I almost resorted to the Fred Meyer parking lot. Fremont was JAMMED with people eating, drinking, and generally being merry... except Woodsky's. As I walked along the sidewalk I passed several other locations and they all appeared to be standing room only, including their outdoor seating. People were slowly trickling out of the festival and onto the bar stools. Woodsky's was bare. I didn't even see a bartender behind the rail and the music was loud enough that I moved *away* from the open door. Wow.
google avatar

Becca P.

Yelp
Awesome spot! Bro-y but in a good way. Dope bartenders, overall laid back atmosphere and overall just chill place to hang out with great vibes. Totally reminds me of my Baker bum friends back home in Bellingham
google avatar

Corey J.

Yelp
Went for my birthday for one drink and we stayed there for the rest of the night. busy bar with no cover but not so busy you had to wait more then 1 person to order your drink. smaller inside loud music and a giant padio on the side made for a great night. CHEAP DRINKS AND GREAT POURS getting a patron and sour for $9 and getting about a double! we will be back there with out a doubt
google avatar

Justin Y.

Yelp
Not a bad place to chill on a Friday night. I liked the snowboard theme and the fact that there were multiple TVs showing different things (tonight was soccer and snowboarding). I'm not a regular here, but decided to check it out while taking a stroll in Fremont. As a few people had mentioned previously, this definitely has a dive bar feel (not in a bad way, of course). Drink prices are good ($5 for beers on tap), there's plenty of seating between the tables or the bar, you don't have to yell to have a conversation, and the staff was friendly. As a late night hang out spot, I think this is a pretty good place to chill if you're just looking to shoot the breeze with friends. If you're looking for more exotic/craft beer or liquor, you may want to look somewhere else. One thing that was interesting to watch was the 4-person-at-a-time whiskey shots on a ski. It was rather short-lived, like how shots should be (lol), but it would have been very interesting to see 4 people try to down beers at the same time.
google avatar

Lidia L.

Yelp
It's my favorite bar, I go here all the time. I first fell in love when this place was Sinners and Saints. I now dig the updated vide with the snowboards and skis. A nice lodgy feel. The snowboard, skating, biking on the tvs is way more interesting than some sport I'm totally not into. OH! Have I said anything about the drinks? They're delicious, especially the margarita, which does it's job perfectly. I've also partaken of the shot shi with friends. Good times always follow. And you can't do wrong with jello shots, always a different flavor. When it's packed it's packed so be ready to make friends, that goes double for gold fish races, which is probably a mistake for mid week when you have to go to work in the morning, but I sacrifice in the name of fun. When it's not so busy, you can relax with some bar computer games. Differences, Bejeweled...keep the drunk guy standing... So, awesome place. 5 stars.
google avatar

Alaina H.

Yelp
Fun little dive bar! The decor, ambiance & atmosphere reminds us of Ft. Collins CO. Ski & snowboard theme, TV, fun little dart board... apparently they have gold fish races! I have only seen the tank of the competitors, yet to see the race! There's a ski that holds maybe 4 shots up at the bar that everyone takes at once... good times!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
My friends and I have been here twice. The first time was great. Drinks are cheap and we thought we were gonna be regulars. The second time wasn't so great. We got kicked out for what seemed like no reason. I definitely will not be going back which is a shame because one of the bartenders was so nice and the drinks are so reasonably priced.

Good music... 90's + now hip-hop kind of random for a place in Fremont (maybe that's just coming from the fact that I never go to Fremont). We went there specifically for the shotski which did not disappoint!
