We had dinner here when we were camping with friends near by in the summer, we were a large group with lots of young children and they couldn't have been more welcoming, ensuring everyone was comfortable, rearranged tables, ensuring all the kids food was just how they liked it. Really couldn't have been any more friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed the food and a good selection of drinks at the bar! We'll definitely be back

We were travelling via HardKnott Pass and visited a pub 20 years ago in the area,we decided to stop here to see if we could grab a drink and food, the lady advised they weren't quite open but would make us something to eat! It was honestly the best soup and chip butty ever. Thank you so much for your hospitality and last-minute help! You didn't need to make us food but did & it was great!

This place is amazing—a true core memory for me! My friend and I were hiking in the mountains and started getting hungry, but we were sure we wouldn’t make it back in time before the kitchen closed. To our surprise, we managed to get internet at the top of the mountain (despite there being no network in the entire city) and called to ask if they could prepare some pizzas for us. We were fine with eating them cold as long as they could set them aside for later. Not only did they agree, but they had the pizzas ready and warm when we arrived! The owners are absolutely lovely. I’ll always visit them whenever I’m back in the Lake District. ❤️

Popped in here for some lunch. Unfortunately it was a very odd atmosphere off peak season. Virtually empty bar a few locals. We ordered a cheese and tomato sandwich and a ham and relish sandwich as they weren't serving pizza. They were about £7.25 a sandwich so I expected something good for that price. I was disappointed. It was normal supermarket type bread, the cheese was very bland and the 'vine ripened' tomatoes wee just standard salad tomatoes with no flavour. The ham sandwich was worse, the ham was very dry and looked grey in colour. The 'relish' was in fact branston pickle and there was far too much. My OH didn't eat it, it was that bad. Maybe it is better during peak season but considering it's the only place around I'd hoped they'd make an effort off peak too. I wouldn't recommend any walkers stopping by.

We booked 3 nights in the spa room, with breakfast and supper included. We also got a packed lunch on one day. We later found out this was the last weekend they were open until later in January, and in fact we were the only guests on our last night. We were still made to feel welcome, and the service was proactive.|This is an excellent location for walks, and the hotel caters to walkers/hikers.||The room was cosy, warm and comfortable, yes, a little tired, but quiet, good bed, large TV, everything works. We slept very well.|The jacuzzi bath was very welcome after a cold wet day tramping around the Hardknott Roman fort and pass; the only regret is that we couldn't see anything out of the roof window because of the cloud cover. On a clear night, this would be spectacular.|Breakfast offered a good range of meals, and the evening meals were also very tasty. The mutton chili sounded a bit strange, but was fantastic--not too spicy, flavourful, and a healthy portion size. The only downside of food is that the packed lunch (sandwich, biscuit, fruit) felt a little overpriced, especially after we realised (the next day) that we hadn't been given any fruit. However, we didn't want to fuss around packing in our own food, and there's nowhere else to buy sandwiches.

If you’re in the Lake District, make sure to visit the Woolpack Inn at Hardknott Pass. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed warmly, and the service was outstanding throughout. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience special, and their friendliness and attention to detail really stood out. The food was fantastic – hearty, flavorful, and exactly what you’d hope for after a day exploring the area. The cozy, inviting atmosphere made it a perfect place to relax. Highly recommended for anyone passing through Hardknott; this inn is a gem!

It was a miserable January day (mid week) when we visited, but the place was still open and serving a good selection of food and drink. Good food, nice friendly staff and dog friendly too

Phenomenal place for a pint/rest/stop, we had previously driven all the way from Ambleside and it took us about an hour to see this Pub en route to the base of Scafell Pike. We stopped here for one before venturing into Boot for some last minute supplies, originally (and I must admit) we didn't see this on the map - but thank God we did! Definitely worth the stop, extremely reasonable pricing within, lovely atmosphere, I would stay the night given the opportunity again!
