The Best of Weird Florida

"Among the many museums gracing Miami, Florida, this one is devoted to a particularly interesting subject. The World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM) opened on South Beach in October 2006 and is housed in a building purchased by the owner of the collection, Naomi Wilzig. Naomi Wilzig is the widow of the late Siggi Wilzig, CEO and president of The Trust Company of New Jersey. At the request of her son to purchase some “conversation pieces” for his bachelor’s apartment, Naomi began gathering examples of erotic art from Roman times to modern. Wilzig’s interest eventually lead to her authoring five books on the subject of erotic art in history and, when the collection became too large for her home, she purchased a building in South Beach to house it. The building now has a Starbucks on the first floor and access to the museum on the second floor is via an elevator in the lobby. Only those 18 and over are admitted to the museum and visitors are able to browse 20 rooms filled with over 12,000 square feet of artwork. Covering historical periods from Pre-Columbian to Roman to the Middle Ages and on into today, the art shows the changing sexual mores of time and culture. One particularly famous item on display within the museum is a large example of a male appendage that served as a prop in the 1971 Stanley Kubrick film, “A Clockwork Orange.”  There’s also a one-ton Kama Sutra bed, a gigantic four-poster with more than 130 hand-carved Kama Sutra scenes and posts which are gigantic, eight-feet-tall phallic reproductions." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

11 Best Museums in Miami | Condé Nast Traveler

"Located in the heart of South Beach, the World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM) could have easily gone the tawdry gimmick route. And while there’s no way to miss the gigantic phalluses that decorate the space, there’s also some real history to the museum, which has been going strong since 2005. The collection comprises more than 4,000 pieces—sculptures, drawings, paintings, and photographs among them—that date back to 300 BCE. The collection includes some (NSFW) pieces by such masters as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí." - Jennifer M. Wood

This place was very interesting and not what I was really expecting at all. Not to spoil anything, so please stop reading here if you're going soon, but I was assuming the entire exhibit was like what it is in the beginning of the walk through, and it most certainly is not. It was like cool little pictures on the wall drawn by artists, a large xxx sculpture, and some stories. It gets more x rated as you go in past these. Definitely interesting and worth a visit!

Google
Fun and interesting. I hate the ran out of tshirts. Paid $25 to get in but I think its normally $30 .. took about 2 hours to tour and walk around. There is no guide, tour as you wish, take pics and videos but no flash.

Google
Really cool collection! The front desk employee was super helpful and thorough.. There were three different collections when we visited. They seemed rather random in relation to each other but all were really interesting and we definitely enjoyed the experience. One of my favorite pieces was the phallic sculpture that was in A Clockwork Orange film! The only off putting thing was that there was a private security room upstairs in the midst of the collections. An employee in the room was blasting music extremely loud and also singing along with it super loud and crazy. It was pretty strange and did interfere with the atmosphere of enjoying the collections. The price of admission is $20/person, which I feel is a little steep for the type of collections they had. But I do understand that museums are not huge money makers and I'm sure they are even more challenged with pandemic so we were fine to pay that much. It's also pretty cool that you're allowed to take photos in the museum with the art :)

Google
HUGE collection and the galleries were very ejoyable. Im giving it four stars though because the first part of the museum was more sort of like a selfie museum, but the room was super disorganized and looked almost run-down. I think taking that part of the experience out altogether and just walking through the galleries is more than good enough.

Hidden away amongst the clubs and restaurants of South Beach is an erotic hidden gem! View X-rated art from across the centuries as you wind your way through this adult collection. One of only a few erotic art museums in the world. Do yourself a favor and check out this well curated experience.

Google
A lot bigger than I thought it was! Great way to spend a couple hours and to learn about the history of erotic art! They don’t allow food/drink inside (for good reason) but let you take all the photos you want. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something interesting and different to do in South Beach.

This was a great activity for a rainy day. There was no one else here while my friend and I visited! We were surprised. A lot of unique and carefully and thoughtfully curated pieces.

Super fun for a honeymoon stop. I thought the price was a little steep but we really got to see a lot and really enjoyed ourselves. Also there was some kind of private party with a woman talking about exploration of all things sex and it was lovely to see and hear the openness.

Yelp
We came here because there was a coupon for the general admission at the time. You can get a combo ticket to see all of the exhibits for $30. It was engrossing and fascinating to see different kinds of artwork like drawings, sculptures, figurines, etc. We probably spent about a couple hours in here looking at everything. It wasn't crowded or busy when we went. I don't want to go into great detail because it's one of those things that people should see for themselves if they're interested.

Yelp
What are we if we are not where we are when we say we'll be there? This phrase has been rattling around in my head ever since my fiancé and I paid a visit to the World Erotic Art Museum. It was our first time visiting Miami and we were very excited when we discovered this museum was about 10 blocks from our hotel. Walking 10 blocks in the sweltering summer Miami heat wasn't exactly ideal, but we sucked it up because we love to support local artists with bold voices and art communities that offer unique experiences. We arrived at WEAM five minutes before opening -- on their website (and google) their hours are listed as 11 AM - 6 PM on a Thursday. As we walked by the museum the shades were drawn and it looked dark inside. Seeing as how we were early, we didn't think twice about it and went to the bodega across the street to kill time and get some water. We came back shortly after 11 AM and the shades were now lifted. We tried the doors: locked. We could see through the windows but there was no sign of life -- the lights were all off and nobody was at the front desk. We figured the museum staff had probably just arrived and were still setting up. So we waited patiently until about 11:15 but still nobody around. Someone had to have lifted the shades... maybe we should try calling? The phone number provided rings once and then just goes to voicemail. At this point we were getting nervous, but going to La Sandwichirie (really good spot btw) was also on our to-do list so we decided to pick up a sandwich and come back, still holding out hope that whomever had lifted the shades would finally have opened up the museum in that time. We came back to the museum around 11:35 and still, the doors were locked and nobody was around. We left a message on the voicemail, knocked, peered in every window, tried to find another entrance, and after about 45 minutes we eventually gave up. We were disappointed to say the least, and also very confused. What kind of business doesn't update their operating hours, or leave a note on the front door explaining the absence? It's one thing for a surf shop or clothing boutique to be conspicuously closed, but art museums are shepherds of culture and enlightenment. We need these places in our communities to broaden our horizons and spark conversations. Art museums have a responsibility not only to their patrons, but to the artists they feature in their space. This isn't just about a disgruntled yelper not getting his way, it's about the fabric of our society getting weaker when the social contracts of operating hours aren't adhered to. In my opinion, World Erotic Art Museum didn't just fail me, it's failing us all.

Yelp
Oddly enough the hotel our group stayed in (The Kent Hotel) is only one block away from The World Erotic Art Museum. Since I visited this museum back in 2015 and had a solid experience, I basically dragged the entire group to this museum 45 minutes before closing time at 6 PM on Monday. This is the only museum in US dedicated to erotic art. [Parking]: I had valet parking from my hotel so I didn't have to worry about parking; otherwise it is NOT easy to find street parking in this semi busy part of Miami Beach. [Admission]: Our party paid in person and ticket was $25 per person as of July 2023. Apparently 1st floor is free to visit and the ticket is for the 2nd floor access. $25 ticket also includes additional access to George Daniell Museum which takes up approximately 1/3 of the 2nd floor space. [Collection]: The famous penis bed is still there and it is located on the 1st floor, but the rest of museum is located on the 2nd floor. The museum definitely changed a bit since my last visit - more spacious, more non-erotic collection (mostly section on George Daniell Museum), and less crowded. The collection separates into the following: African - Native North American, Art Deco, Asian, Boxes/Figurines/Hidden Art, Folk Art, Gay Art, Glass Art, Humor, Iconic Artists, India - Tibet, Indigenous Art of the Americas, Lady Godiva, Leda and the Swan, Outsider Art, P and P, Photography, Pin Up, Prints, Realism, Surrealism, and Wunderkammer. Our group was able to quickly scan through the entire museum (including George Daniell Museum) in 30 minutes. The front entrance was locked exactly at 6 PM and luckily the lone employee did show up & unlocked the door. Otherwise it could turn into Night at the Museum - Erotic Edition. Given the party vibe in Miami Beach, it's actually not a bad idea to visit this eccentric museum with friends (not sure about family but everyone has different comfort level). Everyone in my group definitely got a kick out of this museum. P.S. - Visitors are able to take pictures, just no flash. P.P.S. - Erotic post cards are available at the front entrance, but each card is $2 now & no longer free.

Yelp
I have lived in neighborhood for 11 years and must have walked by the museum hundreds of times. As it happens, a friend of boyfriend's curated a portion of one of the exhibits. With a little extra time on our hands we decided to play tourists in my hood and hit the museum. We were so very unexpectedly impressed and entertained. The exhibits depict demonstrations of love and lust and global erotica. The compelling or maybe most attractive aspect is the fact that there are many marginalized cultures represented. The art is comprised of diverse mediums and spans time. Before we'd realized it, we had spent 2.5 hours enjoying, studying and contemplating. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and very informed. He guided us and offered to answer any questions. If you happen to have a free afternoon, it's really worth a visit!

Yelp
Very interesting/funny museum experience. The pieces were intriguing to say the least and also with various mediums. The exhibition is large and has surprisingly a lot of historical work. The downsides are the facility doesn't seem to have central AC, completely unbearable on a hot day or in the summer. Also, I came to the gallery to finish an assignment for school. There is no discount for students (unlike the Perez Museum) and the admission fee is a pretty penny ($25). There's also a section in the exhibition dedicated to the sole contributor of the museum, it shows only his B&W photography which has no relevance to the other pieces shown. Only 3/5 because it's a bit expensive for what it's worth.

Yelp
"Wow it's so much bigger than I anticipated! " That's what my wife said! Seriously it is an impressive collection from cultures around the world from 500 bc to present day. Experience the religious, ceremonial, artistic and cultural impact of the erotic. We spent 90 minutes taking it all in. Made for a great date and intriguing conversation over a meal afterwards. If you cannot afford the $30 admission, it's worth popping in just to the first floor which is free. Take 10 minutes and explore the wall of Vulva. Take a moment and appreciate all the variations of size shape and color as an appreciation of how we are all unique and how special the feminine is!

Yelp
It's mainly the work of Kevin Berlin, but there are some real gems in there. I was even grossed out by one of the displays, which is hard for me to do! I think the diversity of this museum is still improving, but it has a lot to offer. Nice bathroom on the 2nd floor, except that some dude spent like an hour in there listening to music and later grunting (masturbating? pooping??). I just couldn't use it.
google avatar

Alysia R.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this museum but there are a few critique's I think could improve the overall experience. For starters, the A/C was broken so it was very hot (no pun intended). I also wish there were a few more exhibits that were interactive/kinetic. On the upside, the variety of art was astounding! You see everything from Shunga art to modern sculptures so the variety was definitely there. My boyfriend and I went on a weekday and we were definitely the only people there which is kinda sad, I feel like this museum could be way more popping if they made some minor adjustments and perhaps even added some more "Instagram-worthy" exhibits that'll get people excited to visit and enjoy themselves more.

Yelp
We paid $25 to enter. The first side with just the art didn't catch our attention much but we're not exactly art connoisseurs. The other sides were definitely cooler and had a lot more interesting artifacts, photos, and items in general to see. Quite interesting. The museum actually has a lot of potential but the set up looks like they haven't fully committed to it. Would be great if they added some music, interactive videos, or something to engage the audience further.
google avatar

Adrianne B.

Yelp
I enjoyed the collection of historical and contemporary works, particularly their themed exhibition of photography. I really wish they had better curation and elevated the upkeep of their space. It has so much potential but you can tell that they need to pour more effort and likely more funding into the museum to really make it top notch.
google avatar

Brianna D.

Yelp
This was a cool stop during our vacation. So much art! Looks like they are renovating/ adding more exhibits. They have a library as well. We bought some postcards for $2 each.

Yelp
The museum is located on Washington and 12th Street, Miami Beach, right above the Starbucks. The museum displays the history of erotic art containing the collection of Naomi Wilzig. You will find photographs, sculptures, drawings, and paintings from various artists. We are talking about approximately 4,000 objects and antiquities dating back to 200 B.C. as well as modern interesting pieces. The admission is $20.00. The work is well organized in different rooms with its own topics. Prepare yourself to see an open display of sexual materials, genitalia, historic sexual practices from all over the world, erotica artifacts, and lots of creativity. Interesting and worth the visit! Come with an open mind. Val

Lance L.

Yelp
The museum was extremely dirty with a mouldy smell, particularly in the elevator. Much of the art was dusty and there were dirty shoe prints everywhere. Display books that could be touched were dirty, pages were torn out, and the books themselves were falling apart. The art works themselves were poorly lit by lights covered in cob webs and seemed haphazardly placed. They need to clean well and reorganize. The museum should not be charging $30 per person until they do so.

Yelp
Don't waste your money on this place it's not worth it at all. My wife and I came here to kill some time before the airport and it was so boring. There was literally no one else in here except us. Wish I could get my money back. Terrible museum.
google avatar

Shahidah A.

Yelp
I liked this museum but i felt like it could have been so much more. It was mostly erotic art. I was looking forward to more knowledge based things. Im not exactly sure. What I do know is some of the art work Im like thats a stick figure with a penis but others I was like this is interesting. For example seeing erotic art from centuries ago that depicted Muslims was wild to me. I would have LOVED a more indepth break down. Attached are some of the least sexual photos from the museum.
google avatar

Yelp
First things first with a place like this...know yourself and if you are easily "affronted" by anything sexual in nature, then you obviously have no business here. Also, to best enjoy your experience here, I suggest you leave whatever judgements, stigmas, or stereotypes you may have at the door. That being said, this place is as the name advertises: a museum of erotic world art. I absolutely loved my visit here and, against several friends' suggestions, I came by myself. And, to be completely honest, I think I was able to more thoroughly enjoy and appreciate my visit here because of that. There were several displays and rooms that I was able to fully peruse by myself w/o the sort of "pressure" to react to certain things as I noticed in the other couples and groups that I ran into in the museum who seemed to be covered in clouds of embarrassed giggles, gasps, and shocked whispers. In my own solitude I was able to fully take in and appreciate much of the art by going past the bluntness of the content of some of the more overt pieces and delve into the artistic aspects behind them. I enjoyed this museum, as well, in that its displays spanned every genre and era and did an excellent job in showing how sex isn't a pervasive stigma to be hidden in dark corners, but a natural part of human nature and human history that spans every culture in the world and has spanned millennia. My favorites were the more ethnic displays as well as the ones that contained ancient relics. There is a roman phallic piece from 500BC and several other pieces in the 300 to 100 BC range. These were the most fascinating to me as were the more abstract pieces. I also liked the pieces that were different molds of various vaginas and nipples. It humanized the objectification of those parts of the anatomy in a very whimsical and artistic way. There were also several displays dedicated to the penis, but as phallic symbolism seems to be less esoteric than the "feminine mystique", it seemed less eye-grabbing. That isn't to say, however, that the fascination with the phallus and its implied and insinuated symbol of power was not able to still be appreciated throughout the museum. All that being said, it was well worth the price of admission (the WEAM is currently under construction, so there is a discounted admission price of $12 vs $20) and I applaud the WEAM for taking the breadth of this subject matter and displaying it in an informative/artistic vs in an obviously provocative way.

Yelp
Wow!!! This ranks up there with my other favorite similar museum, the Museum of Sex in Manhattan. It was hard to find pics that were family-friendly, though I'd take my family here, hehe. This museum is on the second floor above a Starbucks, next to a Crunch Gym. I was patronizing the Crunch and stopped at Starbuck's then looked up and thought: wow I should try that place, and so glad I did. The museum collection is a poignant and interesting grouping. Almost anything over the ages you can imagine is here. It did not have the feeling of an HBO show with the sex dialed up to titillate though. It was tasteful and informative. Some of it is wildly hilarious, but probably unable to find G-rated descriptions. It is quite scholarly, with endorsements from the Kinsey Institute among others. I was expecting slightly cheesy given the location above a commercial strip, but it's not at all. Absolutely go see this...

Yelp
Not really an Art Museum person but decided to step out the norm. This place is very discreet would have never known this place exist on South beach. The first two rooms was very interested it made me very much engage & wanted me to explore more but the more & more I explore I just started losing interest. I may have seen one or two things in each room that caught my attention but everything else wasn't. It was basically showing the same thing but in different art form if that make sense. I did not see any food or beverage stand there. Overall, not a bad experience and would recommend others to go.
google avatar

Bridget Y.

Yelp
From the outside it looks closed but it's open. I do agree that they could do a bit more to stand out or keep viewers interested. But it's worth a visit. Takes about an hour if you take your time to get through. For $25 a person it's not to bad.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
$20 to get in, masks are mandatory right now. You take the elevator upstairs and to the left is an exhibit, which is kind of cool. Then you back track, and you'll get to all of the really awesome stuff. I forced myself to not post a lot of pics, I took a ton! Parking can be kind of hell, but I'm really glad we went! You can take pics, just no flash. We spent a little over an hour here. It has a lot of little twists and turns, but you shouldn't get too lost.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
Definitely interesting! Went with a large girl group and we spent quite a while looking through all the art. Some quite tasteful, some quite alarming. But hey, that's art. The business owner was extremely professional and even asked us for our opinions on the exhibit. It's pricey but I think it was worth it! IT IS VERY GRAPHIC, as well as historical! Recommend going with friends or a significant other.

Yelp
This was my 4th time to this museum. I would bring guest that visit Miami, that had an open mind and want to see something different. This place was educational with explanations under the artwork and we would have great laughs after reading. The museum, it's in a perfect spot when walking off food from some of the nice restaurants around. So I guess someone else is over the museum now, bought it....whatever. They totally screwed the place in my opinion, or should definitely remove the name World Erotic Art Museum. They took out so many conversational pieces that pertained to the name EROTIC ART, and put in a bunch of 3rd grade art pictures over 1 half the museum, that has nothing to do with Erotic Art. C'mon man, how you gonna trick people to come see Art they wouldn't normally go see...... Wait, I think I'm having a moment of Clarity in the middle of writing this review. Throughout the Museum, the name World Erotic Art Museum was Barely noticeably, small letters, but George Daniel was everywhere in big letters. So that's why half the museum no longer has erotic art. I get it now. Nice slight of hand.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
I never thought I'd be writing a Yelp review for a museum composed largely of phallic objects, but here I am. I learned about the World Erotic Art Museum through a travel book I checked out through the library (yes, some people still do that). This place doesn't have the polished feel of a typical art museum, which can be a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it. It really does feel more like a personal collection, but the museum feels a little barren with the white walls and lack of sound. At the front of the museum, you can watch a short video (less than 10 minutes) about the art owner and collector, Naomi Wilzig. It's pretty interesting learning how the museum came together. The museum is organized into sections by theme, region of the world, and/or time period. Some of the descriptions are very amusing. My favorite is "Little Mermaid Video Box, with phallus in center Palace spire, painted by a disgruntled employee of Disney, American, Contemporary". There's a very small selection of souvenirs in front of the admission desk, mostly postcards and magnets of some of the art pieces. I wish they had more variety but they don't seem to have the space. Admission prices must have gone up because I paid $20 while older reviewers said they paid $15. Still, I enjoyed my visit and I'd say it's worth the money given the uniqueness of the museum.
google avatar

Wendy B.

Yelp
Well this was a rainy Saturday and I googled things to do indoor. We spent about an hour and a half here and it cost us $50 for both of us. It was $20 each for the sex museum than an addition $5 each to go into the second part which was really just photographs from 1 individual. The second part wasn't really worth it IMO and the sex museum had some artifacts dating as far back as the B.C era , a huge gemstoned penis , artwork, statues, carvings etc. If you figure you'd spend $15 for a typical movie it's worth the extra $5 for something different.
google avatar

Yelp
An entire museum dedicated to arousal, desire, attraction and fantasy. A fast collection of provocative art, cultural eroticism and photography spanning centuries. See the world through a different set of eyes at WEAM Miami Beach.

Lanay G.

Yelp
So yeah umm ok then... this was interesting ... I stopped by this museum on a recent trip to Miami and I'm almost at a loss for words as to how to describe the experience. Just be ready to see sex (in art form) in ways you never imagined. It is located on the 2nd level of a "regular" building in south beach. Unfortunately the elevator was not working when I visited so we had to walk up quite a few stairs. Thinking: what if I wasn't physically able to walk the stairs??? Upon arrival, I was advised that I could throw my Starbucks drink away. So I lingered for a bit to finish it. Unfortunately, there is no sitting area in the lobby area. The artwork itself was very intriguing. It was not just erotic art but there was quite a bit of history to read about with it as well. I was most surprised by how far back some of this content dated. So you mean to tell me they were doing THAT back in the day??!!! I think that overall this would be an awesome destination if they were to make some updates to the location itself. Brighten it up, have someone a little more friendly at the front desk, and maybe do something about that damn buzzer alarm that goes off when people get too close to the statues. It really is annoying to hear the alarm sounding every 5 minutes. I'd say it's an indicator that the sensor needs to be moved so it's not right AT the rope. Don't expect glitz and glam but definitely check it out!

Yelp
It's not the museum I expected to see. If you're seeking a fun, feed your curiosity museum... this isn't it. It's great for learning about sexual education and inventions from across the globe. The pictures on Yelp and Google suffice much curiosity about this museum. The entryway is a little confusing also since we purchased tickets to The Eroticism of Things....we had to exit the museum, go down the block, and figure out which door led us to the entry. We tried 2 doors before finding the door that led us to the next employee who just asked if we had a sticker. Showed him our sticker and he took us to the correct door to the start. He pointed to some worn pamphlets and said this was the list of items in the glass cases. Ummmm....ok. Once we were done there, we had to exit and go back to where we purchased our tickets and begin the museum tour... it's at your own pace, so take your time. Again... it's good education but I'd not visit again. The video of the Naomi Wilzig is great in learning how the museum came about.

Awesome experience..I would say give yourself the hour and a half to look. I paid $20 for entry and I was lucky enough to find parking right on the side. Its $4 an hour located next to the starbucks. There is a lot to view and read definitely sometbing you could do for date night. There are some photos that could be a little extreme but we all know not everyone has the same sexual desires. I would recommend everyone to come and see it. I just wish there were more interactive items like the giant penis for photo ops.

Yelp
This was another fun, unique art experience! It's not something I'd want to walk through with my family or anything (at least without some liquid courage or something), but the exhibits were informative and ... exciting. The museum could probably benefit from being a bit more interactive, but it's also a good time just as it is!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. Features incredible and disturbing yet lovely works and provides sexual education.

Yelp
Went here last minute while visiting from Orlando, the lady at the desk gave us a discount since we went with a big group of people :) The art is definitely interesting! A lot of displays! And a giant penis statue !!!! Lol Definitely a fun place to tour and giggle with friends.

Yelp
Really interesting museum that encourages sex positivity. It was also interesting to hear the story behind the founder of the museum (Naomi Wilzig) and how she was turned down so many times when she initially was looking for a place to house her art collection.

Yelp
Bought tickets online ahead of time, drove over an hour to get here, paid for parking, only for the building to be locked and empty. It was well before close, so it's not like we came after hours. We called the museum, and there is no way to talk to anyone. Really disappointed and will be asking for a refund.

Yelp
Try really really hard to appreciate this private ART collection. Don't get me wrong some pieces made me blush and that's not easy to do. This museum is in s great location in South Beach. The $15.00 is reasonable. You can take your time and view erotic art pieces from all over the globe and at different places in time. I will post some pics but Yelp may remove them. The Snow White and 7 Dwarfs art caught me off guard

Yelp
How convenient that this museum was in walking distance of our hotel. Tickets were at a discounted price of $18 that day. We were here on a Wednesday evening about 6:30pm and were lucky enough to have the entire place to ourselves for our entire visit. This allowed us the opportunity to be as silly as we wanted to be. We spent about an hour toei the place. The name says it all. Erotic art and sculptures everywhere. It was a nice experience but we don't feel the need to return again. We had fun while we were there though.

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit this museum ever since I learned they had one here in Miami. The other day husband and I celebrated our 17th year anniversary by spending the weekend in south beach and this was one of the places we visited. I have so many other pictures that I can share but I feel like sharing more will take the fun out of you getting to experience it for yourself. So go, give it a try, and take as many pictures as you like as long as you do it without the flash. For whatever reason picture taking is not allowed with the flash on. This museum is definitely for the grown, mature folks, who understand that sexual pleasure is experienced and enjoyed in many, many different ways by all people. Judging the pieces because it's different and or it's not something you would enjoy isn't the way to begin your tour through this museum. We had to get away from a group of people who were obviously there for the wrong reasons. I loved some of the art work and appreciated the thought behind it. Some of the pieces turned me on quite frankly. And some were just okay. It was the experience being surrounded by all this sexual pleasing through art - and that it felt like I was doing something naughty but out in the open, with other exhibitionist, that made this visit worth it. We had a great time taking our time on each piece, especially lingering longer on pieces that were just freakin amazing. It's $15 to get in and once inside you get a little sticker to stick on your top that says you are a visitor but it seemed like the floor had more stickers on it than the visitors. Take your time walking through, there is plenty to see, and remember to pick up your complimentary postcard on your way out thanks to their checkin offer on Yelp.

Yelp
It was nice to see different arts and historic items. The items get rotated because there is so much in the collection, so don't assume that you will see the same things that you see in these pictures. And the entrance fee is 20 bucks.

Yelp
What an experience. This is a legitimate museum with erotic art in the form of photos, drawings, statues, and sculptures. My spouse and I went and had a few good laughs, learned some new things, and were amazed at the amount of sex related antiquities there. It is an 18+ museum and for good reason so don't go if you're offended by male or female nudity. Definitely a "Things to Do in Miami Florida" stop! There is pay street parking in the front of the museum as well as pay parking lots nearby. $3 Student and military discount given off the $15 ticket price.

Yelp
This place was really really interesting!!! I had no idea what to expect but I feel like I learned a lot through the history and art of this place. It was a collection from all over the world and time! Pros: + I came here with a group of 9 girls later at night when it was pretty empty and the kind lady at the front desk gave us all a group discount! Yay! + Pictures are allowed with no flash. Awesome!! How else can I show my friends all the crazy stuff I saw??? Like the 8 ft. golden penis!! I needed a visual! + The collections are extensive!!!! SO MANY rooms full of different pieces of work from all over the world. Make sure you look at all the pieces and read the little labels. When you think you've seen it all, you have just begun. Check out all the off side rooms and the shelves and the walls and everywhere! Cons: - The only thing is I found this place to be a bit disorganized. The rooms are arranged oddly, like not really in an order. Also, like a previous reviewer mentioned, they are missing A LOT of labels and descriptions. Sometimes, I really found a piece interesting and really wanted to do who/where/when it was from but it's missing the label. So some things were just fun to look at but didn't learn as much as I would've. You won't find anything other place like this so it's definitely worth checking out! (Museum of Sex in NYC is very different so go to both!)

Yelp
My only dislike is that pictures are not allowed. At the same time, I understand it is a regulation that not only protects the museum, but also protects other people that may be offended by such pictures. Who those people might be, I don't know. **Note: Since posting this review, I have been notified by management that pictures are allowed** Before I continue, I want to mention that I have been to several erotic museums worldwide, and even though I would like to dismiss them as cheap, and a bit vulgar, there is always something new to learn with each visit. No matter the city or culture, there is always some history that lays dormant behind a naked body, regardless of its position. This museum is by far one of the largest I have seen to date. Towards the end of my visit I was tired of seeing so many pieces (no pun intended). If you consider that I am a male in a sea of nudity, this must mean something. Plus, it is not only the quantity of the artwork exhibited, but the size of some of the exhibits. Some are very small, and you have to pay attention to the tiny intricate details of a lot of these pieces. My eyes were tired, and that made my primitive brain tired also. A list of some really interesting things in this museum: a room dedicated to the story of Lady Godiva and the poor Peeping Tom; a collection of photographs taken when the Nazi German Army invaded Leningrad, pictures featuring Catherine's The Great erotic collection (plus a replica from one of her furniture pieces); some legit pre-Columbian clay and stone figurines; some decorated brass plates that came from the Netherlands when Flanders was a world power (1600's), among others. A couple of exhibits that I found very interesting were the myth of Leda and The Swan that, if you travel through Europe, you will find depicted everywhere; and the other one is the myth of Adam and Eve, and the origin of mankind (it's a myth, right?). If you are still reading, this may seal the deal for you in regards to going/not going. There are walls covered in erotic art that are very pornographic in nature, yet somewhat artistic and thought provoking. For instance, after seeing a room full of Japanese paintings depicting intercourse, I started to wonder if this is just pornography. The artistic nature of the work doesn't lead me to believe so, and neither does the quality nor the historical value. I could only ask "What do you think?". And finally, the piece that created a more visceral emotion from me: a cast sculpture of a woman's rear end. It is so detailed I almost felt it was the real thing. If it wasn't because it is painted green, I would have though I was at a gentleman's club. Extremely realistic and in your face. Needless to say, I found it extremely interesting and captivating...

Yelp
While we were delayed a day in Miami due to hurricane Irma damage we decided to stay the day in South Beach. While South Beach was overall disappointing hubs surprised with with a visit to the erotic art museum! You need about 2 hours to really take your time and appreciate everything there is to see in this museum. There is art dating back to 300 BC or earlier. The most interesting observation for me was to see how the art changed over the years and how it varied from culture to culture. Definitely worth a visit if you find art/erotic art interesting. We are definetly more European type thinkers in terms of naked bodies so if you're easily offended don't waste your time. Admission was only $15/person.

Yelp
Since we were in Miami we decided to check out this museum. The cost is $25 per person. The museum was overall good, and they even had small library. The movie was not working but other than that no complaints. Also the museum is exactly as it says so displays, arts, pics are exactly that(Erotic)!!

Yelp
Hands down a great 2hr escape. If you are into art of the body you will enjoy and appreciate the details. You will get lost in just exploring each exhibits. My bestfriend and I went this past week and took pictures and laughed and made memories. Would love to come back and bring more friends to experience cultural art.

Yelp
Price was a bit high for me. Came anyway. So far not blown away and worth the money but we will see. Yeah there were some amazing artists in the collection but as a whole didn't think it was worth the 25$ and a bit regretting I paid so much to come here.

Yelp
My wife wanted to check the WEAM out. So in support of her I went. The museum, felt a bit small and although it twists and turns a lot, it was well organized. It was interesting to learn there were sex freaks as far back as 200 BC... We didn't have much interaction with staff, but the gentlemen who sold us our tickets seemed polite enough. The tickets were $20 each which seems high for the size of the physical space, but when you consider there are over 4000 pieces in the collection, it's not too bad. Just go with an open mind and you should be fine, the human body in general is beautiful, but if something makes you too uncomfortable, just keep moving.

Yelp
A nice museum in Miami Beach. It is literally Erotic art, not fun sexual stuff like the Museum of sex in New York. You would see lots of paintings, statues and figurines. The admission price is a bit expensive. Good spot for art lovers and people who want to see something new and special.

Yelp
I was so excited and ready to love this museum! Honestly, the art is so interesting and diverse. The art is from so many different cultures and periods in human history. However, this place is so run down. On the day of my visit, they were only accepting cash. Things happen, and we can't always control technology, so this wasn't a big deal. But my experience deteriorated as I walked through the exhibits. It's dirty, and there was a mop in the middle of one of the galleries. As I continued my walk around, I am sure I heard mice on the ceiling. The art is great, but it looks like the set of a grungy, dirty porn. I would love to come back and bring friends if they ever ramp it up.

Yelp
I think the pictures speak for themselves, but full disclosure: DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH SEX. Just as the name implies, the museum is erotic. Very erotic. Everywhere you look there are representations of sex, whether in paintings, statues, or anything else you can imagine. Honestly I would have NEVER come here (just because it doesn't particularly interest me) but it was intriguing. I went to an event at the museum down the hall and free access was also granted to this one so a friend and I decided to take advantage. For the topic and what it is, I definitely believe it deserves four stars. Different than any other place I've been too and I appreciate how hard it must have been to get all the different, true to theme artifacts. OH, and you can take a picture on the big, gold one.
