Essential guide to Hiroshima, Japan - SilverKris

"A 45-minute World Heritage Cruise will take you from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial to Miyajima Island (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites), while a shorter 30-minute option cruises past Peace Memorial Park, Central Park and other downtown sights for a compact introduction to the city of water." - SilverKris

Family owned and run business. Boat is a hybrid cruiser, diesel on the harbour switching to quite electric on the river. Downstairs is good for groups, upstairs is good for couples or those who want to travel with a little more luxury. Upstairs includes morning tea (snack plus drink) and lunch plus a drink. Bar on board if you feel like indulging while watching the view. Captain and crew were friendly and I highly recommend supporting a local business.

We could not speak more highly of the overall wonderful experience that the World Heritage Cruise (Red Boat) team provided. From the initial booking being so smooth, to the on boarding with a concierge style approach, the lunches, the openness of the team, and the relaxed style that they took to ensure that all that questions were answered and that the day was as smooth and enjoyable as possible. They have respect for the UNESCO world Heritage rating of the Gordon River environment was done exceptionally well, and their knowledge of the surrounding environment all the way from Hellgate through to the walk through the heritage Park was done exceptionally well. The team are very professional and have ensure that all of our safety needs were first, and that it was relaxing and wonderful day. We could not recommend there is nore highly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day with World Heritage Cruises on the Red Boat. It was a lovely mix of walking tour & relaxing on the boat. The walking tours were informative thanks to our guides. We had the vegan meals & it was superb. Highly recommend this family owned business.

We highly recommend a trip along the Gordan River on the Red Boat, a locally owned family business. It had been really wet and cold the previous days, but we were lucky to have a mostly clear day for sailing. We opted for the upstairs option with morning tea and a delicious Bento box style lunch. There were two stops, where we could walk around Sarah Island, and walk through Huon pine rain forest. The guides were excellent, and very informative. The staff in board were really friendly and helpful, as was the captain. There was video and audio information as well. Very relaxing, and we learnt a lot about the horrors of Sarah Island, and the tough life of the Piners and subsequent saving of the Gordan below Franklin from being dammed.

This trip I have been waiting for on The Big Red Boat. Finally today we went out mind you the weather wasnt that good, raining then it cleared up some. Seeing all the beautiful Houn, King Billy and the other Pine Trees, the Salmon Rings/ Farms, going though Hell's Gate The staff were very helpful on the boat and off the boat. Just to seen Sarah Island (very interesting and lots of history).

I would highly recommend this cruise up the Gordon river! We started the day going out to the heads at Macquarie Harbour, and the commentary was very good and detailed. We then headed off to Sarah island, where Shannon gave a detailed history of the brutal treatments and buildings of the old prison colony. We had a delicious, healthy lunch sitting outside in the lovely winter sun, and journeyed about 11 km up the Gordon River. Our day was sunny, so sitting outside was just wonderful. The whole trip took 6 hours and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering taking the cruise. It was mostly accessible, with just one section that would need to ‘go around’ on the boardwalk where there are otherwise a few steps to negotiate.

Google
Highly recommend This was better then the cruise that we did near Port Arthur Spectacular scenery and we got to witness the sunset on the Southern Ocean - which can be quite rare due to the bad weather. Passengers can get off the boat and do a short walk at two locations. The lady that did the tour guiding at Sarah Island was very knowledgeable and informative ( she had come out of retirement to do it ) You get treated also to a yummy meal.
