Wormsloe State Historic Site is an absolutely breathtaking and historically rich destination that is well worth the visit. From the moment you arrive, the beauty of the grounds stands out—especially the iconic oak canopy, which feels like stepping back in time. I highly recommend taking the trolley, as it allows you to fully enjoy the scenery while also learning about the site along the way.
Wormsloe holds an important place in Georgia’s early history, as it was the colonial estate of Noble Jones, one of Georgia’s original settlers. The site provides great insight into colonial life, early fortifications, and the challenges faced by the first settlers in the region. The museum does an excellent job of presenting this history in a clear and engaging way, helping visitors understand the significance of Wormsloe in the founding and development of Savannah and the colony of Georgia.
Our guide on the trolley ride to and from the museum was extremely knowledgeable and informative, sharing historical details and stories that added depth and context to what we were seeing. Every staff member we encountered was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about preserving and sharing the history of the site.
If you enjoy history, learning about early colonial America, and taking in beautiful, peaceful scenery, Wormsloe is a must-see. It’s a perfect blend of education, natural beauty, and Southern charm, and I would highly recommend adding it to your Savannah itinerary.
