My niece and I were starving from possessed pace up the Awaawapi'ai trail. We were driving back to Kapaa in mad state of hunger and craving meat. Then we saw the steakhouse, passed it, turned into the next street, came around and parked in the back. It looks like an established "locals" spot. The place looked empty. It was 4:37 pm. The hostess greeted us and advised they were not open until 5:00 pm. Sensing that we were going to leave and find another place, she smartly asked for a name to reserve a table for us upon opening time. Smart lady! We killed time by walking down the street to the red dirt shirt store and purchased some cool stuff from the really nice guy at the counter.
Anyhoo! We returned and were greeted by another hostess with a warm "aloha." We were whisked off to our table, drink orders taken, brought, specials offered, orders taken and 15 minutes later, Voilà!!! Grass fed sizzling steak cooked medium, covered with mushrooms and onions, swimming in buttery goodness. Wrangler burger pink in the middle, melted cheese draping with a crispy bacon topping it off. No need for the mustard or mayo. The garlic fries capped it off with crispy, garlicky goodness. I didn't plan on devouring all my fries, but as it turned out, I left nothing on the plate.
The waiter checked on us a few times, the bus boy never let our water or ice tea go below half and cleared the empty plates quickly. They were on point!
There was also a singer performing and playing the guitar. Smooth performance.
This place is underrated! It's a GEM. Great food, staff, atmosphere and the price is more than reasonable.
