What an amazing place. We really need more small stores like this one. Full Of books and knowledge and great stuff. The staff? From the moment we entered, they made us feel welcome and made sure we could find everything we wanted. I could get lost in this place. The kids section is awesome. Places to read, places to rest. Tons of books and crafty stuff. The decor, the staff, the entire atmosphere creates an epic experience!!!

Writer's Block Exchange is a well stocked and diversly filled bookstore in Winter Park. I loved seeing the section dedicated to banned books!! This shop has everything, novels, romance, thrillers, mysteries, fantasy, memoirs, science fiction, autobiographies, self-help books, hobbies, cook books, childrens and young adult. They carry book marks, mugs, socks, greeting cards, note cards, and all the cozy things that add to the wonderful reading experience. There are an assortment of knick knacks & pretty gifting options. The service was great, the owner saw my daughter checking out a book and immediately gave her a recommendation on a book series. Service and affordable prices.

This is a fun bookstore to explore! They have books of just about every genre you can think of, lots of journals and stationary, stickers, puzzles and more. They even have an entire bookshelf of books in Soanish and a second level for children's books. The staff was welcoming and I enjoyed talking with them. Thank you for signing my journal! 😊

Amazing bookstore, very spacious with many options. This location has a very spacious upstairs dedicated to kids selection! I always come here to check out what’s new or get old banned books. I didn’t know this was the same store as winter garden but I recommend both locations, this one is larger! Super cute blind date with a book that they have available.

Great bookshop with a fantastic selection. They do a good job of getting a lot of books on display and still having a nice atmosphere. The children's section upstairs is a joy! Very cute place.

I have been shopping here since the opening of the original store and have loved to see how it has expanded and continues to grow. It was a much-needed addition to Central Florida. The book selection is incredibly diverse from local authors to national best sellers. There is a book there for everyone. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and the cafe is a nice addition to sip coffee, spend time writing and/or reading one of your new selections. I also appreciate all of the visiting authors and story time that they promote.

What a absolute dream of a book store!! Community book stores are far and inbetween these days and I can already see my wallet loosing weight inside this store. Plenty of variety on titles, and the ability to purchase limited edition, and or signed copies! If you are a reader or want to start getting into it then this is a Must visit location. The staff also are extremely friendly and can offer all sorts of recommendations! Lastly, best use of a security camera I have EVER seen!

Little magical experience in Orlando. This bookstore was super cute and cozy. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. I sat to read and I didn’t feel bothered by other customers. Love it!

This location is absolutely beautiful. The clerk at the front was very knowledgeable about the store and made me feel pretty welcome. She explained to me about the items that they sell and how amazing the store is. I love that they had a section for banned books. My daughter definitely love this bookstore as well. I like how they have chairs throughout the shop for a moment if you wanted to sit and reflect or take a peek at a few of the books.

My friend and I were walking off our dinner and we happened to come across this book store. It was after 8pm on a Thursday so we were surprised to see them open. Apparently they were participating in some special sip and scroll event which is why they happened to be open still on this night. We were greeted by a few of the workers and I believe even the owner. My friend told her that we were out celebrating my birthday and she was so kind to offer me a discount on a book of my choosing. The book I wanted was not in store so they were so helpful to order it for me. Overall, the Place had a great selection of books in various genres. It was organized well and it had a very cute aesthetic. I will definitely visit them again when I'm in the area.

Niche little spot in a nice part of town with a great atmosphere. This place really shines when it comes to making book stores what they truly are. Genuine and no nonsense gimmicks. A place of knowledge and fair storytelling. Love this place to the core and they have cute little mystery books for sale. Beautiful venue for a place of pages!

I was enjoying my day shopping in Winter Park, and I always have to stop when I see a bookstore. This store was well organized, and I loved all of the staff recommendations taped to the shelves. Found an amazing book to take with me on my flight home from Orlando, so I was a happy girl!

When I go to a new place, I always try to find a bookstore to soak up the local scene and find a book or an author that is from that place. I made it my habit to visit this bookstore after finding it on Yelp (thanks Yelp)! This is a delightful little bookstore full of great selection of books. I actually like the way the store is set up because I found my book immediately as I entered. It wasn't a Florida book per se, but a collection of short story mysteries which is the kind of randomness I wanted. I did explore more and found some Floridian books, but they weren't all in the same place. Still, the way the place was set up, it was perfect for the browsing for the book you don't know you want. The only "downside" was that the books and bag were a little more expensive than most bookstores I have been to. Now, I am from Chicago where everybody slams as being "expensive", but this place was a little more expensive than the two independent bookstores in my area. Still, this is a small business in the best way so at least I know that my slightly higher bill is going to help a community and will stay in Winter Park. I highly recommend checking this place out. It hit the exact right tone I was hoping for in a local bookstore. Not sure when I will be back to Winter Park, but I will stop by this place again!

A quaint bookstore located in the heart of downtown winter park. The selection is vast and they offer plenty of genres. They host a book club that is diverse. Parking is scattered but worth a lap or too. I park down by the Panera for a short walk to the store. Overall I would recommend you give the store a visit and immerse yourself in the hometown feeling of local business and new options for literature.

Quaint and cozy bookstore to walk through and peruse for a few minutes. Enjoyed the new book smell, imagined with a cup of joe it gives the perfect feels. Though, I do agree with previous Yelpers on it being on the overpriced end. I picked two selections, as one was a 50% offf teacher/planner (and I just thought wth since I needed it but really was more like regular priced w discount) and other was a $9 activity book for my son. I saw they posted events with stuff going around but clerks didn't know much about it when I asked about one. Have to admit, I have more thrift online approach with my book purchases so not a spot I would actively seek out.

Visiting the area and Checked out this independent book store. Good prices and even found some books signed by the author. Staff is plentiful and helpful as this place is well visited this mid week afternoon.

I stopped in at Writer's Block Bookstore when exploring Winter Park for a day last month with my mom and stepdad. It's small but charming and very well stocked/curated. Ten minutes in that store and I was ready to walk out with five books! The staff were really friendly and sweet! I picked up a new book for my flight back home the next day. Charming spot!

Writers Block Bookstore in Winter Park, FL, has quickly become one of my favorite Indie Bookstores. It is an absolute treasure for book lovers! It provides a very welcoming and cozy atmosphere, has a wide selection of books, and they have book clubs and frequent author events that make it a haven for readers of all ages. The staff is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with great recommendations. If they don't have something you are looking for in stock, they will order it promptly and provide free shipping to the store for you. From bestsellers to hidden gems and bookmarks to reading lights, this charming bookstore has it all. They also have converted their upstairs area into a children's area which is great for my 8 year old. Writers Block is a perfect spot to get lost in a good book!

Fun indie bookstore on park Ave. Great banned books and suggested reading shelves! You can tell the staff are avid readers and supportive of writers. It's not a large store, but the selection is good and it's comfortable to browse.

What a delightful independent bookstore. Perfectly located in winter park. You can purchase a book and sit in the park, or grab a bite to eat. They rock because they have amazing book events. I came here for the Tabitha Brown book signing. The staff is great and I will definitely be back.

Charming small, local book shop with great displays and a variety of books and gifts to choose from. The prices are a little higher than other places but I think that's to be expected when you shop local instead of big box stores.

I love bookstores! Always a treat to explore. Out and about with friends, Debbie and I popped into this bookstore and quickly found ourselves looking at the children's books- both being grandmoms! There is a little coffee shop in the back, plenty of great selections of books and gifts and I loved how brightly lit the store was. There is something so charming about a small, local bookstore- don't you think?

Such a quaint but lovely bookstore in downtown Winter Park. Writer's Block is a quintessential bookstore for anyone who wants to expand their horizons through the power of books. I felt like I was back in the upper west side of Manhattan stepping in here. I loved the hand-written recommendations from the staff on each bookshelf. I also really liked the quirky gifts where I could find something special for my friends and family. I didn't get a chance to eat in the cafe, but it smelled great. Definitely stop by if you're in Orlando or the area, because I'm sure you'll discover something new in this shop.

This bookstore deserves all five of its stars. I have been visiting this business since it was opened in its original location, and while I miss the old clearance section, it doesn't compare to the cafe and larger space they have now! There are always a few books that I have never seen before, and I love the quirky gadgets and accessories places throughout the shelves. The staff are patient, knowledgeable, and are always willing to help you pick out your next favorite book!

One day I would like to open up my own bookshop. This shop is almost 100% of how I would want to do it. It's a medium size store in a perfect location. You could spend hours browsing the shelves. The customer service was great! I am so happy we found this gem while on vacation. I wish we lived closer. I love supporting small businesses.

How have I not reviewed this store yet??? Writer's Block is a community gem. The staff was extremely helpful when I was looking for a book. They didn't have it, but ordered it for me right away and called me when it came in! When I came in and picked it up, the staff member was kind and thoughtful, especially because I had just been crying over the children's books! I have always loved bookstores, but even walking inside Writer's Block feels somewhat magical. Wall to wall books make the store feel cozy, and the space is dotted with recommended and seasonal displays. Additionally, there are delightful gifts that are both bookish and not, for everyone on your list. In the back is Axum coffee and a cozy sitting space so you can take some time away from the hectic and find some peace. Hands down one of my favorite local stops--come and check it out!

It's time for another Besties, Beverages, and Bookstores! This time we are heading to Winter Park for the most ADORABLE bookstore I've ever seen! Please let me introduce you to Writer's Block Bookstore. It is a woman and Jewish owned bookstore that I could spend HOURS in. They have more than just books. We're talking journals, pens, stickers, hilarious items, and an amazing cafe all within 4 walls. Choosing just a couple items was not an easy feat. This is a place that I want to take a group of friends to where after filling out bags...I mean hearts with books, we'll walk around the historic Winter Park and grab some lunch. This was hands down one of my top 2 bookstores I've ever been to. Make sure to check it out!

I can resist everything except a bookstore. Or at least that's my take. I had stopped in Winter Park on my way to Tallahassee to eat at nearby Briarpatch Restaurant. When heading back to my car, this bookstore was quite literally in front of it, and well, when in Rome... Needless to say, I went inside and perused their offerings. They have signed editions of books, gifts and trinkets, and even an area in the back for coffee. A small café if you will. When I went, it was closed, but it was still cute. They have a decent selection of books. I was shocked to see Spanish books even. Not every bookstore carries them, after all. Aside from that, the variety of trinkets got to me. Socks and soaps and mugs, oh my! Will return when in this area.

The Writers Block Bookstore is located on Park Ave diagonally positioned from Panera Bread. This bookstore has a large collection of books and other accessories for reading as well as a coffee shop tucked in the back to grab a cup of coffee while you browse. If you're looking to find a collection of books and don't know where to start this is a great place to go as the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Beware, the books here are exceptionally expensive compared to other vendors, and the coffee in the back was moderate on the day we went.

I finally got to pop in here while shopping on Park Ave! Writer's Block has a bright and cheery bookstore space that's full of happy customers - my favorite way to experience a bookstore. Staff is friendly and the store is elevated by the coffee shop option in the back. I'll be returning soon for my next book!

Such a lovely bookstore tucked away in Winter Park, next to a number of small shops and restaurants. They also serve coffee in the back of the bookstore. My family really enjoys visiting this local bookshop and supporting them! Always a great time and vibe.

We absolutely love the children's section of Writer's Block; it has a great variety of books. We love to go up there and read. We always finds one or more books to buy. Shout out to the team of knowledgeable staff as well.

An adorable bookstore just of the regularly beaten path of Park Ave. Although it's small and cozy, don't think that they don't offer a solid amount of good books, unique finds and gifts, and even greeting cards! We headed in while just browsing around the main strip and the nostalgic smell of books hits you when you walk in. It has a cozy vibe and items fill up pretty much every nook. There are several rooms and they sectioned the books accordingly. The kid's book room is especially fun with a small kid's table and a few fun toys. It has a mom and pop boutique vibe and staff was friendly. It's definitely a must hit spot if you're in the area. Overall: A+ Great little bookshop that you should definitely stop into!

Great place to find cards for special occasions. They won't be the same old cards you see at other big stores. They also have random things you can buy for yourself or as a gift. I can spend a good amount of time just perusing all the things they have to offer. I actually haven't come here for books yet haha but I did notice they have a good selection. I am so happy they recently moved to a bigger location. The store isn't super cramped anymore and they added a cafe in the back. People that work there are friendly and have a good sense of humor.

Nice idea of having a coffee shop in the back of the bookstore. I really enjoyed their cold brew coffee. Adds to the experience of sampling books. Nice that they have both a convenient card and card-less payment system.

Quiet little hideaway This place is a little hidden gem! It's a quaint little bookstore. But once you go inside your imagination takes a joy ride you'll never want to get off of. Even though the space was small it still kept every room organized and with just enough space to kick back with a book. They had everything from toddlers to full grown adults! Every section had its own cozy vibe to it which I especially enjoyed. The atmosphere in the store was comfortable and comforting.

I love local bookstores! This one from the outside looks so small, and you walk in to the cutest setup that allows for more books than what it seems. There are little rooms for different main genres. Though small, each shelf is packed with great covers, you are sure to find something you like, or love. It could get a bit crowded if too many people are in one area at a time, but there seems to be an unspoken etiquette that everyone abides to, in order to not crowd anyone's browsing space. Apart from the amazing books sold here, they have other items; magnets, bookmarks (of course), nook lights, tea, soap, cards, socks and other little gifts for yourself or others. It's downtown Winter Park, this establishment is located right next to a parking garage, but other than that, the name of the game is street parking, get in where you fit in (legally of course).

My favorite local small bookstore! Located right off of Park Ave its a great spot to hang out for an hour or so and discover your next favorite reads. My favorite spot is the front section with their recommendations -- I've found so many of my favorite new authors and novels from this section! I also get a lot of author signed copies here too. This store offers some really great events as well. Overall a really great spot to find everything from books to journals and little trinkets. Shop small and support Writer's Block!

Employees seem dumb and disorganized. Not sure how they have customers or keep their doors open.

I first spied this store on a leisurely stroll down park Avenue one evening when it was closed! Couldn't wait to come back and explore! The bright book displays and fun bookish gifts were a delight to look through. I walked away with a couple beautiful copies of classics: Crime and Punishment and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I hope to visit again the next time I'm on the Avenue!

Such a cute store. Their book prices are not discounted at all so you can find the books cheaper other places, but they have cute gifts as well and I like to support small business. They also have fun events. I got to meet Nicholas Sparks in 2020 at a book signing.

A wonderful, small bookstore. They offer a really wide selection for the size that they are and if you can't find what you're looking for they'll happily order it for you. They offer wrapping for birthday gifts or presents of any sort. When I was here before Christmastime looking for books for my daughter, I was offered (offered!) suggestions by Ji-Hye, a lovely and very knowledgeable young lady. Her suggestions were spot on and my daughter found a whole new series of books to dive into. They have cards and candles and pens and mugs and other tchotchkes galore, but they never forget that their reason for being is BOOKS and the people who love them. Go and check them out for yourself, you'll be refreshed and glad you did!

We stumbled into this bookstore because our niece couldn't find a Barnes & Noble in the Mall at Millenia and I'm so glad that we did! It was a little busy but the woman at the counter was so kind and helpful. (I'm sad I didn't catch her name!) She was so sweet and informative while assisting our niece find the books she was looking for. She also provided great suggestions for similar books that they did not have and offered to order the out of stock books and ship them home to us. She was wonderful and so was the coffee shop in the back of the store! I would include photos of our coffees but they were drank up FAST! We visited during the coffee shop's two year anniversary so they had special drinks like a birthday cake latte. We got a ginger snap latte and a honey latte. They were delicious! The gentleman working at the coffee shop was pleasant and can put together a mean latte. 10/10 experience, I suggest you visit!

It is quite shocking, I actually called this business to compliment them about how great their store is. The manager was quite rude and cut me off, saying write whatever you want on your review site goodbye. Click. Wow. . . I can understand that the manager might be busy, but returning rudeness for unconditional kindness is unacceptable. Makes me feel sad actually. I will never support this bookstore again. You lost a loyal customer. Edit: also, I work for the LA Times. I'm not gonna burn this company as I know it's tough to run a business, but it's so profoundly silly to be rude without knowing the person on the other line.

This is a WONDERFUL bookstore! They've managed to create a space that's intelligent, thoughtful, and fun. Bright colors and fun things to look at everywhere, tasteful selections that you would not find everywhere. It is well organized, and yet you'll always be surprised. One area moves into the other in a delightful fashion. Lots of things you may not find anywhere else. I'll definitely come back again, the next time I'm in Winter Park!

Excellent little book store. Divided into little areas with different styles of books. Great little extras like journals and the funniest selection of socks. I particularly enjoyed the kids books room. Had an very diverse selection of books for all ages. I will define my return here as I love to send books to my nieces and nephews back in Michigan.

I loved Writer's Block before the pandemic, but now they're a lifeline. They are doing so much for their bookish community: home shipping, curbside pickup, audiobooks through Libro.fm, ebooks through My Must Reads, physical book subscription boxes based on individual reader preferences and bookseller favorites, virtual book clubs... I can't think of a single thing I'd want from a bookstore in quarantine that Writer's Block isn't already doing with grace, love, and good humor. Support them so they can keep doing it.

I love a little cozy bookstore moment so this store did not disappoint. Plenty of books with all different genres from fiction to science to non fiction to children's novels. There were also little Knick knacks for sale like quirky socks, magnets, pens, and more. Nestled in the back near the books is a "writers block" hide away that I absolutely fell in love with because of how unique it was. Make sure to grab a cup of coffee INSIDE the store. 100% love this place.

Oh, Winter Park...you sassy little town you! All of your hidden treasures - we mere mortals don't deserve them. Take, for example, Writer's Block Bookstore, a winsome little Shop where you can find recent bestsellers, unique titles, children's toys, stationery, and colorful socks that say "Dang it all to heck". Well, of course, I had to leave with the socks. Now I know where I'll be picking up my quirky little gifts this holiday season. Did I mention the free gift-wrapping? Bonus! There are many interesting little treasures to be found at Writer's Block. Treat yourself - or someone you love - to a few of them.

Such a neat bookstore! Tucked away in one of the smaller roads off Park Ave., I probably wouldn't have found it if I wasn't wandering around killing time. Aside from the obvious inventory of books, they have a variety of cute gifts, quirky whatevers, and my favorite- socks with sarcastic phrases on them. It's small and cozy, and the staff was friendly without hovering. Everything they have is unique, and it's easy to find something for every one in your life based on their personality and interests. The pricing wasn't bad either, considering the location. I was very happy to find such a cute store.
