Fantastic first-time stay. Loved being able to park underneath our A-frame cabin and the easy shuffle down the gravel trail to the Canteen in the mornings. Excellent coffee. We brought our bikes and pedaled on the riverfront trail--yes the damage from Hurricane Helene (last September) is still there in many places, but we were so happy to visit this cool community again, and shop with some of the artists in the River Arts District. Loved the rec to stop for tacos at Taco Billy. Thank you for a great home base for our visit!

We had our family reunion of 30 people and everyone had a great time. Close proximity to everything - parking was great. The rooms were very comfortable. Brought my own pillow but didn't need them as the pillows were nice and fluffy. Staff that we did speak to were very friendly and answered all our questions. They kids really enjoyed the Meadow (I think that's where we sat in the evening) my grandsons and great grandsons enjoyed collecting bugs. My granddaughters enjoyed the hammocks. Even my adult son was enjoying the lighting bugs <smile>. We all had a good time. Reason for the 4 1/2 stars the sofa bed it was too low (suggestion to bring one of those mattress toppers). Would definately recommend Wrong Way River Lodge for a great unique experience. Want to thank Shelton for all his assistance and patience.

Wrong Way was a wonderful place to have a Board Retreat. The location was so simple to find, the cabin was clean with just enough amenities, the bed was comfortable, and the meeting spaces (inside and outside) were perfect for small and large group work. I loved the Meadow with its firepit and string lights. A terrific gathering place. While it wasn't a weekend meant for outdoor activity, there was easy access to a park across the road with walking paths along the French Broad river. The food provided was excellent--suiting all dietary needs. The owner could not have been more gracious or accommodating. So enjoyed my stay!

My group of 10 loved our stay at Wrong Way! The cabins were clean, cozy, and conveniently located. The river lodge was the perfect place to convene, have group meals, and play games. Unfortunately with the rain we weren’t able to have a bonfire but still had the best time! The staff was very friendly, thank you for having us!

Wrong Way is a fantastic place to stay in Asheville! We went with two young kids who loved the canteen and exploring the property. The A frame cabins are perfect and so thoughtfully designed. There was a rain storm one night and the sound of the rain on the tin roof was so peaceful. The cabins are a nice size with a queen bed and queen pull out, perfect for our family. Our kids did not want to leave - they kept talking about going back to the 'mountain house.' We are talking about coming back this summer with 4 more families - it would be great as a big group!

I wanted to go camping and my girlfriend said how about glamping? So we settled on Wrong Way Cabins. For the price they exceeded my expectations. The grounds are gorgeous. The cabins are modern but have rustic details inside which made the stay feel special. The bedding, coffee and toiletries were high end for a luxury stay. My favorite part was the greenway that runs along the river is right across the street and the balcony facing the river. We came to hike and had dinner out of the balcony each night and it was wonderful. There are several beautiful hikes within 30 minutes of the cabins. The staff was very polite and gave great recommendations for trails. We got to meet the owners who were very easy going and answered all our questions. Engineering and design is passion of mine so hearing how they developed the grounds and survived hurricane Helene was very exciting for me. If you go you have to stop by the lodge for coffee in the morning, it was some of the best I’ve had and really made the trip for me. Wrong way cabins will be at the top of the list next time we’re in Asheville.

We had our company team meeting at Wrong Way Lodge and it was a great experience. Having everyone in their own individual cabins was a great comfort and the common spaces were terrific to gather around. Shelton and Joe and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful for finding a volunteer experience and outdoor activities. The cabins and lodge itself are very cool and wonderfully different than spending time at a typical hotel or B&B. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Google
Sheldon and the crew at Wrong Way genuinely care that you have an amazing experience. The cabins are thoughtfully appointed, the location is convenient to plentiful art and outdoor options of Asheville, and the team members go out of their way to make sure you have all the on-property amentias to truly "unplug to connect". This place is a gem.

Yelp
Stayed 2 nights in cabin 5. Beautiful view of the broad River. You can hear traffic from inside the cabin, so you might want to use the provided ear plugs or a white nice machine if you are a light sleeper. The bed was comfy, room was spacious. We loved the record player. The coffee bags made a tasty cup of coffee in the morning. You can check in/out by text message, so arriving late at night was no issue and super easy. We saw the first staff on our last morning as we were checking out. She was super friendly while we looked around the canteen. Lots of great snacks, beverages, and some comfy looking hoodies in case you need an extra layer.

Yelp
Very cute and unique. Get away from it all. Probably even better in summer. I went during a snowstorm.

Yelp
I cannot say enough great things about this place! This is a great option for those who travel with their dog(s). We had such an amazing experience and did not want to leave. A few days before our arrival I received an email from the team at Wrong Way that included helpful check-in information as well as the weather forecast, directions, and parking instructions. It also included links to their website for more information on various activities from trusted partners and local restaurants. Our cabin was #11 (standard cabin). The cabins come with everything you could possibly need: wi-fi, spacious bathroom, cozy beds, foam pillows, towels, extra bedding, microwave, fridge, electric kettle, coffee, tea, mugs, record player, games, books, balcony/deck, etc. The cabins are also located across the street from the French Broad river and there are several parks (including a dog park) with walking trails within walking distance. The River Lodge is a communal space to hang out. There is coffee, beer, wine, kombucha, and fresh baked goods available for purchase (all from local companies, breweries, etc.). As well as Wrong Way shirts/merch, coolers, etc. All the staff we interacted with during our stay were nothing but kind and friendly. Each night they have a fire at one of their two for pits and invite anyone staying at Wrong Way as well as surrounding communities to come and hang out. They really created something special here. We cannot wait to go back.

Yelp
Beautiful campground in west Asheville that houses 16 A-frame cabins. The campground includes high speed WiFi, a coffee shop, hanging hammocks, two different outdoor smokeless firepits, and two event spaces that can be rented out. Perfect spot to come work remote. There are fresh pastries served daily and other local snacks and drinks in the canteen.

Yelp
We Tried wrong way river canteen cafe. Vibe on point! Friendly barista, everything about it was great! Loved the look of the place! Only downside was I ordered a hot mocha, tasted more like a "ex hot latte", and the espresso was a bit on the sour side. :)

Yelp
Wow! What a well thought out and well designed place to stay. This place exceeded all of my expectations and IMO is the perfect place to stay when in Asheville. We were also fortunate to meet one of the owners upon checkin and he was super nice and helpful. He gave us some great recommendations and even a quick tour as well! I could honestly go on and on about how well done this place is... but I just recommend you see it for yourself and experience Asheville as it should be experienced by staying at Wrong Way!

Yelp
We didn't stay the night, we just stopped in as locals for a cuppa coffee with our dog. The coffee is local and delicious. There are other drinks available, as well as some pastries. There is a view of the river, and Wi-Fi access. The two people working there were really sweet and made a darn good latte.

Yelp
Our team hosted our first-ever out-of-town team retreat in Asheville, NC, and it did not disappoint. First! A shout-out to Explore Asheville. Their website is a wealth of knowledge of everything you need to know if considering a visit to Asheville. Their sales team helped me find the perfect solution for our small team--Wrong Way River Lodge & Cabins. Before, during and after, Shelton Steele and the team at Wrong Way were excellent partners. For every question or issue we had, they were quick to answer and figure out solutions. We came in Wed - Fri in mid-October. We used the River Lodge's large meeting space with a large wall-mounted monitor for our team meetings and presentations. We had delicious breakfasts and lunches on-site provided by their catering partner, Newstock Pantry. We were lucky to have warm fall weather, which allowed us to enjoy many of our meals outside around the campfire and picnic tables. The cabins were a hit with the entire team. Everyone loved discussing what records were in their cabin and a highlight was the hammocks for the balconies. Swinging in a hammock and watching the sunset after a long day was a great way to relax. The entire Wrong Way layout made it feel like we were all together at a modern and well-manicured campsite. With Wrong Way as our home base, we were able to take hikes in the local park. Our team walked to the River Arts District to poke around the galleries. We had fun on a brewery tour that allowed us to see more of Asheville. We also enjoyed some local favorite eats from 12 Bones Smoke House, Wicked Weed Brewing Pub and a splendid private dining experience at Rhubarb. Thank you, Wrong Way for ensuring our retreat was a success. We all want to come back to enjoy Asheville again! Imagine all the fun we can have with warmer weather.

Yelp
The cabins are so stinking cute!! We're so happy to be staying here, it's close to everything but still gives you that cabin feel. Joe was so accommodating and helpful. We will definitely be returning here on our next trip to Asheville!

Yelp
Great place to stay for a few nights. Super clean. Bed was very comfortable. Lots of thoughtful touches including books, records/record player, hammock, games. Outlets on both sides of the bed. Only things I would say need improvement are add a shelf in the bathroom for personal items/toiletries. And it was VERY cold in the room when we got there. Would be nice to turn the heat on before guests arrive. Otherwise, great!!

Yelp
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Asheville's Wrong Way River Lodge for 10 days in April 2023. The owners, Joe and Shelton, have created something truly amazing, in a fantastic location. It's built into the hill directly across from the river and the French Broad River Greenway for cycling, running and walking. The cabins are incredibly comfortable, spacious and well-designed with everything needed for a home away from home, including a turntable, records, books, and hammocks to relax in. The River Lodge itself was perfect for one of the rainy days we had. We sat by the fire while my husband strummed the guitar. Every single staff member we met was so friendly and helpful, with lots of suggestions for places to eat, drink, hike, cycle and explore. We used Wrong Way as our home base while we hiked and cycled in the nearby state and national parks. It was great to come back "home" at the end of the day, and be close to so many options for restaurants and breweries to visit. If we are ever back near Asheville, we will definitely stay here again, and will highly recommend a visit to everyone we know.
