I stopped by Wu Wei in Kensington Market and tried their blueberry matcha, and honestly, it was so good! The flavour was really unique — you still get that earthy matcha taste, but the blueberry adds this light sweetness and fruity twist that works perfectly together. It wasn’t too sweet either, which I really appreciated. The place itself is small and tucked away underground, so it feels like a little hidden gem. The vibe matches the artsy energy of Kensington — cozy, chill, and very aesthetic. The staff were super nice too and took their time making the drink, which showed in the quality. It’s definitely more of a grab-and-go spot (not much seating), but it’s worth the stop if you’re exploring the area. I’ll definitely be back to try their other flavours — this one totally won me over.

We heard the matcha here is superb 👀 tried the matcha coconut latte and black sesame latte. The coconut latte cream foam was absolutely phenomenal and had so much coconut flavour. Same with the black sesame foam; I don't like black sesame but I gave it a taste and it was really good and not too heavy. The drinks were good but I'm not a matcha snob so I didn't think their matcha was any more exceptional than other places. It was still really good, and I'd definitely come back to try their other drinks, even the non-matcha ones (which were sold out today 😔), but I can't say whether this is the best in the city haha.

Google
I’ve been here multiple times now and I can guarantee Wu Wei is one of the S tier matcha spots in the city. Their matcha quality is always consistent. I especially love the hot matcha latte with oat milk. It feels like a warm hug and is served at the perfect temperature to sip on. The few downsides is there’s usually a line, but it’s worth the wait if you enjoy great-tasting matcha drinks :^). Additionally it’s grab and go, so there’s no seating.

Google
my friends got the ceremonial grade matcha and both agreed that it was good but way too pricey — they’d expect something more for that price point. the oat milk latte i had was good, but also pricey! not much seating area inside, more of a to go place!

Google
Was in the area and decided to drop by. Place is quite cramped, with the ordering kiosk right by the door. There’s another one further inside to the right. Got the hojicha cheesecake, the cheesecake foam is super cheesy and thick which balanced greatly with the hojicha. Overall it’s an 8/10 drink. Would come back to try matcha next time.

Google
The menu offers a variety of unique flavour combinations, such as hojicha cheesecake latte, matcha tonics, matcha blueberry latte etc. We got the peach cobbler matcha latte which was amazing, it tasted just like a peach cobbler with some cinnamon flavour, but it didn’t overpower the matcha surprisingly (could still taste the matcha flavour strongly). The hojicha cheesecake latte also had some graham cracker crumbs, with a cheese foam which paired great with the nuttiness of the hojicha. Would definitely go back to try the other drinks.

Google
The latest hotspot for matcha and mostly frequented by Gen Z. A queue is what is expected on a holiday and waiting is over 15 Minutes to get your glass of matcha! Ordered a coconut milk matcha and wanted to try matcha. It was great in taste and flavour and the overall experience was good. People say the peach flavoured matcha is a great choice so you could try that for sure.

Google
One of the best matcha spots in the city. Very tasty, great flavour. The iced strawberry had a decent amount of real fruit chunks. Pricey drinks but I’d say it’s worth it! Ambiance wise - it is takeout only, no seating available as it’s located in the back inside of a store. If there’s a wait / lineup, it helps the time pass as you can browse some interesting items, but can be confusing if you’re here for the first time.

Yelp
We ordered a black sesame latte and cheesecake Hojicha latte with oat milk. They were both good and unique flavors. Though the pictures and menu say iced, you can request to have it warm. It was pretty busy for a Sunday late afternoon. Workers were nice. This is a place where you order and grab your drink to go. Close to a parking garage. And you need to take some steps down.

Yelp
Ordered: Medium Iced Hojicha Cheesecake Latte (~$8 CAD): half sweet, with oatmilk Small Iced Peach Cobbler Matcha (~$8 CAD) Aya's take: Wu Wei is a popular coffee/matcha spot in Kensington Market and is pretty easy to miss until you see the line of people outside. We ordered on the screen and really the only human interaction you have here is when the worker is handing you your drink. A lot of their beverages are caffeinated dessert drinks, in my opinion, and that was the exact thing I needed when we stopped by. The Iced Hojicha Cheesecake Latte was solid. It was nutty, toasty, and earthy and the cheesecake cream foam was sweet, velvety, and indulgent. The Iced Peach Cobbler Matcha tasted exactly how it sounded but didn't hit the spot for me. The matcha easily got lost and overpowered by the peach flavor. So if you like peach flavor, you might like this one. It seems like one of those spots that became popular/viral and although it was decent, I don't think I'd return.

Yelp
This place lives up to its hype It's downstairs under the vintage store they have one kiosk that you have to order from there's no person taking your order which is kind of annoying because if it's your first time there you can spend a lot of time going through the menu like the person in front of me and then the line built up to where it was backed up outside the store I hope they can kind of fix that maybe have another machine that people can order from. They do have online ordering where you can order ahead but if it's your first time going there you wouldn't know that Inside is very simple and clean you can visually see the baristas behind the counter making all the drinks and they are making it with love and care and they have smiles on their faces they looked happy I decided to try the blueberry matcha and I was a little bit scared because all their drinks the matcha looked so dark I was worried it was going to be bitter but I was wrong The macha was smooth, and you can actually taste it even after mixing the drink the color was still rich it wasn't bitter the blueberry puree had actual chunks of blueberry which threw me off when I first started drinking because I was not expecting that Overall I probably wouldn't get the blueberry again just because I think I would prefer a strawberry or a different fruit (just a preference) but it was still made well and I can taste the quality ingredients. I honestly would get their ice matcha without a flavor as well. They do not sweeten all their drinks but there is a station on the side where you can pour in your own simple syrup

Yelp
All the rave for matcha in Toronto right now. Hidden in the back of the 6x8 Market in Kensington Market. I've tried it twice now and both times I came they were sold out of the blueberry matcha - bummer for me. I think their matcha is extremely creamy and not so much for my palette, but I know lots of people who love it! The experience of ordering from their ipad and seeing the cute space really adds to the fun of getting this matcha drink. Here's what I got/ thoughts on each drink: Iced strawberry matcha - Liked their strawberry puree mixture for this matcha drink. Think this was ok with the blend of their matcha but wasn't a strong enough matcha flavour. Iced matcha coconut cloud - Not a drink for me unfortunately but can see others loving this. As expected it's very creamy from the coconut cloud and was a bit heavy to drink. Yuzu matcha tonic - Refreshing matcha drink with the yuzu and matcha. Mango matcha - Another refreshing matcha drink with the mango juice. However, the mango flavour really overpowers the matcha. Matcha latte - A classic that you can't really go wrong with. Overall, there are hit and misses for this spot. Try it out for yourself as it's always fun to get some matcha drinks in the city.

Yelp
I went to Wu Wei Coffee after seeing it on TikTok and ordered the Matcha Coconut Latte. Ordering was done via a kiosk they set up at the entrance. The store itself was very dim and had a zen-like vibe. The Matcha latte itself was quite delicious and had a strong matcha flavor. I didn't get much coconut taste and I thought the size was a bit small for the price you pay. It's a good drink but I think the place is a bit overrated and personally I wouldn't come back again.

Yelp
I have been here a few times and I have seen that sometimes they do change up the menu which is neat, you can try something new each time. I tried the matcha and hojicha and I can say that they are well made. I was here also last year when he sold caneles and they were awesome, I hope he has brought it back!! When the owner makes the drink, you can tell he has mastered his craft as every movement looked like a performance. Friendly guy with lots of knowledge with his drinks, he can easily strike up a conversation with you if you are willing to talk or ask questions!

Yelp
Wu Wei has gained a lot of attention on social media for having great matcha. So, of course I had to try it. They have an iPad on the wall for you to order for yourself. I ordered the blueberry matcha! Super delicious and it had a nice blueberry flavour. The jam they used had whole chunks of blueberry. Overall pretty good -- a little too sweet for my liking, so it's not my first choice for matcha.

Yelp
Viral cafe serving matcha in a vintage supermarket in Kensington market! I tried their blueberry matcha later as most cafes don't offer that, it usually comes with cheese foam but I removed it. The matcha was just okay, They do use second harvest tea leaves but it was a good mix! They offer free alternative milk which is nice (oat milk) but kind of pricey. Very open concept as you can them making your drink right infront of you. Service was fast and effective even though there's a big line. Ambiance is cute but no seats to sit but you can shop around to see local treasure. I don't think I would go out of my way to try drinks as the matcha is very light 7/10

Yelp
Wu Wei Coffee is tucked away at the back of a store (6x8 Market) in Kensington Market. They try to keep the lineup to 10 people to avoid ruining the vibe of the store, but I think there were more people in line than that... It was nice to see the matcha being whisked up with care. Service was not too slow for the number of people they had to deal with. I got the iced matcha coconut cloud, and the coconut foam was indeed velvety and fluffy. The matcha was not sweet, which made me happy. It does feel a tad overpriced for the small amount of drink. It's nice to take a look around the store while you wait for the drink to be made. Think I'll drop by time to time when I'm in the area.

Yelp
The ordering process was through a kiosk which made it easy for me to go through the drink selection, and also adjust the sweetness/amount of ice, as needed. The shop was a bit hard to find since it was underneath another shop, but the interior was cozy and minimalistic, giving it an elegant modern vibe. The drinks though??? They were sooooo good!! I loved both of the drinks I had gotten; the strawberry matcha was a bit on the sweeter side bc of the syrup but it had a smooth and creaming taste, and the mascarpone paired so well. The hojicha latte was perfect; the sweetness didnt overpower the flavor of the hojicha which I loved! Definitely coming back to visit on my next trip!!!

Yelp
Matcha mango. Amazing so refreshing on a hot day. I was hesitant at first about the mango nectar with matcha mix but it was a really good mix of flavours. There's a bit of a wait on the weekends.

Yelp
Iced peach cobbler matcha was unreal! A matcha heaven with a "not too sweet"peach compote, silky egg custard foam and oat crumble on top. There's a self serve ordering system with their machine or you can order online through their website. A must try in Kensington Market.

Yelp
Many varieties of matcha, and coffees. Got the iced blueberry matcha but when mixed it looked like a black sesame latte! Fruity / tangy notes from the blueberry made the matcha quite refreshing. Would need to come back for their hojicha drinks and caneles. They were temporarily not selling the caneles in Jan, but the staff mentioned it will be coming back soon.

Yelp
I decided to try We Wei Coffee after checking out their menu and found some creative delicious drinks I wanted to try. The coffee shop is hidden inside 6 x 8 market and there is no seating available inside, so it is more for a grab and go coffee run. I tried 2 items on the Special drinks menu: 1. Hojicha cheesecake latte, with the cheese foam on top and cheesecake crumbles to add some crunchy texture to go along with a slightly bitter taste of the hojicha. It was delicious. 2. Orange mocha is another must-try item since it combines the perfect balance of sweet orange syrup with the bitter sweet mocha. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You can tell how much effort and attention they put into creating each drink as both of my drinks came out as delicious as they are beautiful. I am so impressed. Will definitely be back

Yelp
my fave strawberry matcha latte in toronto!! wu wei is located inside 6x8 market in kensington. i walked in and the market was clean and beautiful. the staff immediately greeted me and guided me to the ipad for ordering and pictures for the drinks. the drink itself was delicious. the strawberry at the bottom provided the sweetness for the drinks - which tasted very real and gently sweet. the matcha itself i could say was high quality ceremonial grade. yummy. definitely will be back to try the other drinks!

Yelp
Cute matcha stall nestled inside a Kensington market. I had the Stawberry Matcha (~7) which came with fresh strawberry purée at the bottom, topped with milk and matcha prepared in front of you. The sweetness of the purée really complimented and elevated the matcha flavour. Ordering is through an iPad and there are no seats for sit-down.

Yelp
If you're a matcha lover or just want some quality drinks, this is the place for you. We ordered the iced blueberry matcha and cloud foam (whipped coconut) iced matcha and it was delicious. The shop is located in Kensington inside of a market giving it a cozy feel, although there is no seating available. The service was quick and you order via a kiosk at the front. The drinks are definitely pricey but worth it for a treat once in a while. The matcha came unsweetened but there is syrup on the side to adjust accordingly. It will be a pick me up spot whenever I am craving matcha!

Yelp
A little counter inside a tchotchke shop with incredible matcha offerings. I ordered a matcha brownie from a Michelin pastry chef (not too sweet! Can actually taste matcha and not white chocolate) and a matcha coconut breeze which is coconut water topped with matcha foam - light and refreshing!! There were so many unusual matcha drink options (like one with tonic water and burnt rosemary) that it was hard to choose. The owner was kind and chatty about their philosophy and a delight to learn from. He said they roast their own beans for coffee affectionados as well

Yelp
This place Is so good!the matcha drink was pretty good but the hojicha cheesecake latte was AMAZING!!! I never had anything like it! It's tucked away in a small shop so It was a little hard to find. There was also no AC so I felt bad for the workers. Would highly recommend to matcha lovers!

Yelp
It's currently inside another shop in Kensington. I forgot the name though sorry. The owner is very nice and he says he runs the business with his wife. It's a small business so obviously everything is very personal and intimate. My cup was quite delicious and of course I would recommend.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!!! The matcha is to die for. A must go and the area has such great vintage shopping :)

Yelp
Cafe tucked inside a market at Kensington. You really have to go all the way to the back to see them. I've heard they started off with coffee but I've actually heard more things about their matcha and ive wanted to try it for a while. There's online ordering for efficiency, also there's pictures so it helps visualize the drinks you'll be getting. They have limited pastries etc so when i went on a saturday afternoon they were sold out. Got a classic matcha latte and the feedback I heard was right - this is smooth and rich matcha. There are places in the city that make it super milky, or just not enough of the matcha taste- but not Wu Wei. The matcha was silky smooth. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of their matcha and coffee drinks

Yelp
I tried the iced blueberry matcha and the blueberry compote in the bottom was so good! The matcha itself was slightly bitter for me, but the blueberry was great

Yelp
Super disappointed they were closed with short notice. I was visiting Toronto and was looking forward to this and added it to my itinerary but they ended up giving notice of closure the day I planned to go. It looks like they're closed for two weeks.
