WunderLocke (Munich, Bavaria) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the largely residential district of Sendling, in the southwestern corner of Munich, busy streets begin to give way to green space, and the pace of life palpably slows. This is where you’ll find WunderLocke, an apartment-style hotel — or a collection of boutique-style serviced apartments — that make a strong case for the Bavarian capital as one of the world’s most pleasantly livable places. An all-day restaurant and a fine-dining option, along with a café, wine shop, and cocktail bar help keep WunderLocke’s guests self-sufficient, while bike rentals make for easy urban exploration." - Tablet Hotels

I had a great time staying at this apartment hotel. This was my first time visiting Germany, and Munich was the perfect place to start. I stayed here with a friend, and for the price, our cute little apartment was such a great deal. The place itself felt cozy, the bed was super comfy, the rooftop bar was cool and they made a great Aperol Spritz! We also really enjoyed the coffee at the hotel, the barista was really nice. The location was great too for the kind of trip we wanted, outside all the noise and drama of the city center, yet just a couple of metro stops away from the heart of Munich. There was also a supermarket and a dm store nearby, so you never really miss anything🫶

I was in the City Studio. So the room was fine. It was big enough I think for 2 people but as I was by myself it was great. The rooms were really quiet inside which was perfect. I liked that there was a refrigerator, and kitchenette and even a dishwasher. So I read the reviews about how the rooms were not the cleanest and room service only comes after 7 days. So I brought a hand vacuum and some light cleaning supplies so that worked out well. As other reviews have stated yes the hallway carpets look run down and definitely need to be pulled up and replaced. Also the bed definitely sags in the middle so if you have back problems or need something firm or with a box spring you will have issues! The biggest issue I had was the Air conditioning! It was extremely hot for the entire week with heat advisory warnings daily. I specifically filtered places for A/C and I read the reviews that said the Air conditioning wasn’t good at all but was hoping that maybe it was just those rooms and not every room! But alas it was not so, the air conditioning was more like a low fan, it did not cool the room down at all, it might as well have not been in the room. But because I read reviews I brought with me 2 fans that made it comfortable. That point alone has made me not consider this place for next summer when I have to come back to Munich. I think place would be really good during the winter months.

We stayed from Saturday 18th to Saturday 25th October, we were told the room would be cleaned once mid week any more and you have to pay extra . We asked twice when would it be cleanrd, by Wednesday why had no one been to clean and finally on Thursday we had clean towels and bedding..... not very hygienic.|Stains on sofa and on carpets in corridors. |Otherwise nice hotel and close to underground.

I’d say that this hotel could have been good, but even though it is not old, several items are run down beyond use. ||The breakfast is the worst I have ever seen at a hotel in Germany (anywhere). ||It has nice enough amenities, but is run more like a hostel than a hotel. The bar has chips and candy bars… not what you’d expect from a hotel. The staff, in general, is overly lax and reflects in the non-operational rooftop space or the non-operational sauna due to previous damage without any effort to repair.

Pros|- few mins walk to train station (U3 station Aidenbachstraß|- free street parking available if you can find a spot|- in room laundry|- large fridge (with a small freezer compartment, only big enough for a few items, you can't even put in a frozen pizza in there)|- attentive front desk response via WhatsApp |-super comfy beds |- large roomy space perfect for kids to run around in ||Cons|- limited kitchen equipment - we only had 1 small pot, no bowls|- not much in the area to see, the nearest Christmas market is a 20 min train ride away in Marienplatz |- I couldnt get the dryer to get my clothes fully dry (they'd be slightly damp to the touch) |- the shower area is super small - there is a towel warmer in the shower, but no way you can have a towel on it stay dry as it is practically up against you in the shower. They wasted all this extra space on a coat closet next to the bathroom instead|- my 6'4" shower loving husband was not a fan that the shower was only a hand shower, and whoever installed it, did it in such a way that either it sprays towards the wall so you have to stand in a small corner or it sprays out towards the door and gets the floor all wet|- no housekeeping for 7 days without additional fee, but there's no broom or anything in the room to keep your floors clean|- before we leave, I always check under beds/ couches because who knows what the kids hide underneath them - these areas were super dirty|- our sink drain/stopper was broken. You'd think they'd bring us a replacement instead of leaving the drain wide open |-TV in room with Youtube, but no cable|- little soundproofing - could hear the entire cycle of laundry being done in the floor above us and it was loud - from the water draining to the spin cycle ||Free wifi. Free toiletries include: bulk shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There are dishwasher tablets and laundry pods provided, additional provided at no cost. ||There is a small gym, an outdoor heated pool (closed for the season), a rooftop bar (closed for the season), and a sauna (closed for repairs)

The couch in our room was in very poor condition, with numerous stains, which was unacceptable. When we mentioned this to the front desk staff, they were very polite and attentive, and offered to move us to a different room. However, to our surprise, the couch in the new room was also dirty, so we decided to remain in our original room.||When we asked about this issue, we were told that the couches tend to get stained because they are located near the kitchenette area and guests might accidentally soil them while cooking. While I understand this explanation, I don’t consider it a valid justification. If that is the case, the hotel should either ensure a higher standard of cleaning and maintenance or select a more suitable, stain-resistant material for the couches. It would have been wiser to address this issue proactively.

Great stay. Easy and quick to get the weisn (Octoberfest). The coffee machine in the breakfast restaurant made great coffee. A/C worked amazingly. Delicious restaurants within walking distance. The shower and room were clean, I just never felt quite clean after a shower.

Room was very clean and bathroom also very clean. Having a clothes washer, dishwasher and refrigerator in the room was a big plus. Not many dining options nearby. Close to train and bus station. Nearby grocery store. Reception staff very helpful. Did not partake of the breakfast so unable to review.
