Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen, Adults Only – All-Inclusive Resort

Could not recommend Wyndham Alltra enough! While all the typical food and views of other reviews are absolutely true - what stood out to me was the safety. As a single female traveling alone, the security at the front (Juan specifically) were awesome at helping me out and making sure I knew where was safe to go. Juan also gave me tips on general safe practices when out and about in Mexico. Bartenders and servers were attentive, fast and so much fun. All of the staff spoke excellent English. I also asked for an upgraded room when I arrived, they gave me a much better deal for a junior king suite in person then booking it online (although this may have been because it was slow season and there was more room availability). Liquor was high quality and full 1 or 2 oz pours, everything I wanted was included in the all inclusive rate. The private beach was small but beautiful, I didn’t find it rocky like other reviews on here. Both pools were fantastic, upstairs pool was very relaxing and the main floor pool had a lot more going on depending on your vibe. Liquor service stops at 11, expect to have to leave the resort if you really want to party. You’ll have no problems meeting other guests to go out to 5th ave with!

My friends and I had a lovely time here and I highly recommend! The location was amazing as it was right on the beach and close to shops and restaurants in town. We would like to give a special thank you to some of the staff that made our stay so enjoyable, David, Katia and Jonika who ran amazing activities and were so welcoming and kind, Jesus and Angel at the bar who made us great drinks and were a lot of fun, Juan who was so friendly and helpful with our suitcases upon arrival and departure, and Valentina who kept our room spotless. We appreciate all of you and thank you for making this a wonderful trip for us. We will definitely be visiting again!

We recently stayed at this resort and overall had a mixed experience. We knew that there was not a beach, but there definitely was not one in case anyone was hoping for a little bit of sand… There are definitely positives — the location is excellent, just a quick 3-minute walk to the main shopping area, and the property itself has a beautiful setting with a lot of potential. We were really excited about our stay based on the surroundings.|However, we did encounter several issues that impacted our comfort. Throughout our stay, we had recurring problems with the water in our room. There were multiple times when there was no hot water at all, and on several occasions the shower had no pressure, and at times no water. We talked with a few other guests that said they have not had water for over five days… For a resort at this price point, reliable hot water and consistent water flow are basic expectations, so this was disappointing.|Additionally, when we attempted to call the front desk for assistance about these issues, there were several times when no one picked up. While we understand that staff can be busy, it did make it challenging to get help when we needed it.|We genuinely hope that management addresses these concerns, because the resort's location and overall atmosphere are wonderful, and with a few improvements, it could offer a much better guest experience.

Check in was fast and easy. Majority of my stay, I had no hot water option and when I inquired with staff , I was given a false timeframe on when issue with be resolved . My room was kept clean and the housekeeper was extremely clean and the best. However the room was damp and stuffy. The AC barely worked . The resort has limited entertainment and the entertainment provided caters to an older population, making it boring. The buffet options for lunch and dinner were not appealing or satisfying. There were limited options to choose from and the food was tasteless. Breakfast buffet was good. I enjoyed the food options at the Brass and Zappos restaurant however the dessert options were stale. The drinks are watered down, barely contain alcohol. There should be more food options available, for example the pizza shop should have more items available such as fries or hamburger. The sushi bar was good. I made reservations for one restaurant and the hostess were unable to find the reservation. Staff at restaurants and Buffett were very attentive and awesome.

9.5/10 resort!! came here for a bachelorette and had 0 major complaints. the resort is beautiful, we had a standard room and I loved the archway and bathroom so much. The food was delicious, Italian restaurant was the best mmmm, and the vanilla iced latte from the onsite coffee bar. The staff were so incredible. Shoutout to the dynamic duo David and Katya who kept the vibes high with their poolside entertainment and bracelet making skills!! also shoutout to white chocolate Mauricio at the pizza bar for being so nice and fun!! 🔥 I can’t remember the names of all the staff that waited on us poolside/at the poolside bar but they were all amazing and attentive, always refilling our drinks and doing it so quickly :) Also highly recommend the foam party in the pool on saturday, that might’ve been the highlight of our weekend here, good music and lots of fun🔥 The only “subpar” things of note were that the resort bar closes at 11pm and there is no onsite discotheque, so if you’re younger and/or plan on going out, you need to power drink before 11pm. Also, the beach is very rocky and you can’t swim directly in front of the resort, you need to walk past the north beach and go to the beach on the other side. Overall, I highly recommend coming here, I miss it so much already!!

We’ve visited this resort many times, back when it was Panama Jacks and even Porta Playa. We’ve always enjoyed ourselves. |However, this trip, we’ve had no hot water since we’ve been here, 3 days now. Things happen, and we cut them slack, until we’ve read and heard this has been an ongoing issue for months and months- and management doesn’t feel the need to let anyone know.|We upgraded our room, brought along 3 other couples, and the front desk and no one informs people that there’s been no hot water for days or when they expect to get it back. |Unless you insist, the only thing they offer is an “I’m sorry.” |The service and everything else is good, but, IMO, why visit a resort when it’s a gamble whether you’ll have hot water or not? There are many other choices, including the Hyatt next door. For a little extra money, you’ll enjoy a nicer resort with hot showers.

Hotel did not have hot water for 4 of 6 days staying there. It calls itself an all inclusive hotel but they do not allow the guests to have a alcohol beverage before 11am. People are there on vacation/holiday. Buffet was acceptable but could have been better. The three affiliated restaurants were very good though. And oh yea - their web site shows a beach - must be photos from another location.

We went as a group of 9 cousins and had such a great time! When we first arrived on a Sunday evening it felt a little quiet and lacking atmosphere, but as the days went on the vibe improved so much. The facilities were exactly what we needed, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The location of the resort is perfect, especially if you’re planning a night out on the strip. The only small downside is that the beach isn’t the best, but the pool area is stunning, so we honestly didn’t miss it too much. A special shout-out to the Entertainment Team, especially Katia – she was amazing and really made us feel at home. The activities were so much fun, with the foam party being an absolute highlight. We had an unforgettable trip and would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family. Can’t wait to return!
