Wyndham Berlin Excelsior

Not thoroughly impressed by our room. It really need to be updated/renovated. The bed was horrible. Even though we have received a 2 person room, the bed were two single beds put together. We didn't have enough sockets to charge from either. The morning buffet were decent, probably the best thing about the hotel.

I'm in the hotel since last evening. In my room, piece of paper lying on the floor next to the bed... Well... Cleaning personnel might have overseen it. Now, 24h later, beds are made, piece of paper still lying at the exact same spot. The hotel is warm... Everywhere... In the room despite the air conditioning (unless you crank it up when it gets very loud) as well as in the meeting room. Beds are also ok, but one feels they have been used. Similar impression with most of the furniture,whether in the room or downstairs. Breakfast is OK, nothing extraordinary. It is OK, but I have been in better 4star hotels. But ..I like that someone from the hotel reads the online comments and replies. Maybe they will improve.

Room was clean and big enough. Hotel generally looks a bit run down and could do with some redecorating. Wasn't a huge fan of the breakfast but plenty on offer. Staff helpful and hotel perfectly located for a visit to the zoo. Not hotel's fault but other guests talking loudly in corridor one night, literally sounded like they were in my room. Air con didn't seem to work, room was hot at night despite radiator being off

The location is best. Breakfast is good, Some staff is very kindly, but that's everything room cleaning is not good but better than noise. when I was in there about one week, I don't need any alarm because there was a terrible noise for remodeling(?) was from 8am till afternoon without only weekend. I asked and changed the room but there was nothing to change, still too much loud, even I recorded the noise to let them hear but they told me just "it can't be helpful". I couldn't understand their attitude. Everyday morning I had to wake up against my will. I regret to stay at this hotel, I couldn't be relaxed, just be remained horrible experience.

Nice room, not huge but big enough to be comfortable. Breakfast was good, but overcrowded at the weekend. Good location, nice cocktails at the bar, staff were friendly and no issues with sound / disturbances etc, would recommend for budget stay in Berlin.

Although, my stay was short, I was absolutely a fan of this hotel. When you walk in the lobby, it's like walking into a scene from a Steven Soderburgh movie, sexy mood lighting and dripping sleekness. The hotel staff are young and very friendly. I didn't visit but the bar in the lobby was beautiful and certainly where I go spend a couple of Euros had I more time. The restaurant was also very highly rated. So good food, not just good hotel food, if ya know what I mean. I must say it was clear when you entered the room that the building was retrofit to be a hotel. Which leads me to my one gripe. The showers could have been a bit cleaner. Full Disclosure, I am a bit of a neat freak so I am speaking mainly of the corner of the shower and the groat in some sections. However, it certainly wouldn't stop me from staying there again and it certainly shouldn't dissuade anyone else either. It's in a great location, close to public transit and many different shopping sectors!

There are so many positives about this property; the rooms are fantastic value for money, the staff on the front desk are very welcoming and accommodating (they helped to somehow find my lost property on the train!), the location in Berlin (near a main train station) and the overall experience. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough, particularly for a city break.

Rude receptionist, not helpful, PAID FOR DOUBLE ROOM , END UP WITH TWO SINGLE BEDS. However this has been solved by a very nice receptionist in the morning after second complaint, very nice stuff at the bar - Andy was serving us. Very nice cocktails. Room that we have been given as a replacement room was just perfect- spacious, nice bed, nice bathroom. I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent Berlin hotel, located close to Zoo station, Ku'damm shopping area, and the Tiergarten. Friendly, engaging staff are always ready to offer suggestions on tours, places to see, go, etc, as well as meet your customer experience expectations. The restaurant is large, well appointed, with knowledgeable servers. Food is A-1. Breakfast is the usual buffet-style but offers a huge range to suit all tastes, allergies, special requirements, etc. Bedrooms are modern, well-equipped with sufficient power outlets for the business traveller, and fast, free wi-fi. Bathrooms were large, spacious, spotless. In all this is an excellent choice for the business or personal vacationer to opt for.

This Wyndham hotel is definitely in a great location located just southwest of Tiergarten and walking distance to the zoo. They have a small parking garage off which 6 slots are dedicated to hotel staff. Parking costs €19 per day, and you can get an in and out ticket for daily use if you plan on seeing things faster away (Brandenburg Tor is 3.5km away). Besides the hotel restaurant there are tons of excellent dining options within walking distance. The hotel entrance and lobby is very attractive. The front desk staff attentive, friendly, and polite. No issues using our Wyndham Rewards program to pay for our 3 night stay. The rooms are small. A king bed is actually two singles pushed together, which leaves little open space. The bathroom is a closet (when they remodeled the bathroom it would have been better to remove the decades old and extremely narrow tub to create a shower stall instead). The roomsize would have been better if they used a queen bed in stead of two singles. There is a mini bar fridge that is stocked with the typical over priced drinks. Take a 5 minute walk west there is a grocery store under there banhof bridge. The rooms use your keycard to run the lights and AC. Recommend getting an extra keycard and leave it in the slot for electric, otherwise the room gets very muggy and stale. The hallway carpet on the 5th floor is extremely worn, stained, dirty, and musty (biggest negative during stay). 4 stars start Minus 0.5 star for gross hall carpet. Minus 0.5 star for room setup / size. I would use this location again.

This place is a dump! Everything in the hotel is filthy, from the sofas in the lobby, the carpet in the corridors, wallpaper, ect. After waiting all day for a room, it is terribly hot, the tile in the bathroom is moldy, and the stain is worn right off the woodwork. They will not let you in a room until check in time at 3:00. Us and a lot of other people were sitting in the lobby for hours. They do not have enough housekeeping staff to keep up with the demand. Do yourself a favor and find a NEW hotel with good air conditioning closer to the monuments like the Brandenburg gate.

My family stayed but they found it to be a bit over-priced for the quality. Friendly staff and clean. We all had breakfast there but found it to be expensive if one doesn't want to eat a huge breakfast buffet. A better priced place for brealfast is Hubert's restaurant, half a block back towards the main train station Zoo.

For the NYE holiday, I went to Berlin with my companion. He made the arrangements after having looked at a few different places on venere.com and felt pretty secure about the place and the reviews. The hotel is located not far from the main train station and also minutes away from the downtown shopping district. In fact, we enjoyed the Christmas market still I taking place as it extended to the main street on these days. The staff is friendly enough and seems to be quite organized at the front desk. We got to our room and compared to our room at the BW in Paris, it is a bit larger, however, as you look at the photos of the bed (the matrimonial one) note the split in the middle. Yep, they are two twins put together, but not to worry, you won't fall through ;-) as well, we asked about the wi-fi (so we could download maps to places, ect.) and we were informed that we get 30 free minutes per day, after that, you have to pay. We wouldn't have minded except that 30 minute connection is quite weak and slow. My companion opted to buy the extra time at 14Euros per day. However, there are also computers in the lobby (around the corner from the main desk) that are very useful and usually free without a wait to use. Our room was comfortable enough and well appointed. Now, like the BW bathroom, this one too has a shower where you end up getting half the bathroom wet....three is a "door" (why, I am unsure since it's a tub/sower and so the door doesn't do much--not even keep the water from falling out of the tub :-/ as well, don't expect ANY extra soap/shampoo to be given as we discovered. In other words, though we were 2 people, we only had 1 of the soap/shampoo/ hand cream. If the staff notice ANY left in the bottles, they do not leave a second little bottle for the next day. Aside these things, it was a perfectly acceptable place to stay give our needs for the short time we stayed. Oh, the other INTERESTING note was the breakfast pricing: if you let the staff at the desk know you would be having breakfast with them, the charge would be 12Euros, if you didn't and went without such notice, the charge for the breakfast is 18Euros....? Would I stay here again? In a pinch, perhaps, but after having been there and seen the others nearby (for example, the Hotel Indigo next door) I would try one of the others first. Overall, I would give this hotel a 2.5...but because of how the Yelp scoring works, I don't feel the 2 is warranted, especially since the restaurant they have is very good....
