Two words: NEVER AGAIN!
My family and I came into Brooklyn last night for a wrestling event at the Barclays Center, and this seemed like the best choice. At first glance, we were falsely advertised as far as location, because the pictures online showed that no buildings surrounded the location, but as we saw from parking, we were in a cramped parking lot (I'll get onto the issue with parking soon enough) in a seedy looking neighborhood.
Things proceeded to get worse at check in when we found out not only did we pay for parking that we can't leave or else we lose the spot (the parking as mentioned was a cramped lot in the back with only a row of spaces), but also we got screwed on the room. We ordered a two bed room, but what we got was a one king sized bed room, so me and two people had to share a king sized bed, granted it was for one night, but its inexcusable. The woman at check in insisted that was what we ordered, and also insisted there was nothing she could do.
The room itself was very cramped. When you walk into the room, there is very little space between the walls and the bed, there is very little in the way of bathroom privacy (the bathroom door is blurred glass and you can hear everything going on in the bathroom clearly), and also privacy in the way of hearing your neighbors. Are you a late sleeper? You better hope that your neighbors are the same. On top of that, every time we went back to our room, we saw the cart that the cleaning crew is supposed to take care of in the middle of the hall on our floor, which just shows the cleaning department has no care for their utensils.
Later that day when we went down to the lobby to wait for the cab, we talked to a different person at the counter who took a look at our confirmation, and agreed that we indeed got screwed on our room. He tried to compensate us on breakfast (which we paid for already), but we decided that we just want out of there in the morning. What is most interesting though was something that our cab driver let us know about. The hotel we were staying at is well tied in with prostitution in the area. I cannot stress this point it enough.
Overall, I believe that you are better off anywhere else other than the Wyndham Gardens in Brooklyn. Between the woman at check in screwing our room, paying for parking you can't even use, and everything in between, it made our vacation more stressful than it should've been because of the incompetence of the people who work there. I would give this place minus 5 stars on this app if I could, but as it stands, I'll just have to stand with 1 star from such a bad experience.
