The 21 Best Weekend Getaways in Florida

"Clearwater Beach gets crowded during peak vacation times but skews extra family friendly, with sands that are particularly powdery, shallow waters for swimming, nightly sunset celebrations at Pier 60, and stylish beach resorts fronting the Gulf of Mexico that include the Sandpearl Resort, Opal Sands Resort, and the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach."

This is a beautiful resort right on Clearwater Beach. You get to lounge chairs with an umbrella on the beach with your resort fee. This is my first time to Florida and I absolutely loved. It was so great going from the pool to the beach and back again in just a few steps. I walked up and down the beach from and where the Wyndham is has the best beach. The hotel is beautiful in a relaxed beachy vibe. The weight staff is outstanding especially Evan at the front desk who was wonderful and AJ at ballet.

I’ve stayed at Clearwater Beach many times and overall I enjoy the property, the location is great, the rooms are clean, and the view is beautiful. However, on this most recent visit there were two things that really impacted the experience and will affect whether I return in the future. 1. Spa Access Fees / Sauna Restrictions For a resort that is typically $300–$400+ per night, it was surprising to find that access to the dry sauna and steam room is an additional $50 Mon–Thurs, and completely unavailable on weekends. Most comparable hotels in the area include this as part of the resort experience, so it felt less like a relaxation feature and more like an unnecessary add-on charge. It gives the impression of the hotel nickel-and-diming guests, which doesn’t match the price point or the otherwise high-quality stay. I would strongly encourage management to reconsider this policy — it detracts from the experience, and I do believe it’s causing the property to lose repeat guests. 2. EV Charging Availability The property currently has only one EV charger, and I was unable to use it during my stay because it was always occupied. I travel with others who drive EVs as well, and several of my friends booked other nearby resorts specifically because those properties had multiple chargers available. I don’t want to move away from staying here, but without additional chargers, it’s difficult to choose this property again — especially when the installation cost of additional chargers can be offset through the federal EV charging tax incentive (30% rebate up to $100,000). I genuinely hope management takes this feedback to heart because this is a beautiful property and I’ve enjoyed staying here before. If the spa access policy were updated and a few more EV chargers added, this would absolutely be my go-to hotel again. Until then, I’ll likely be choosing one of the nearby resorts that offers spa access and EV charging included.

We had a very disappointing stay at the Wyndham Clearwater. - **Check-in:** Slow, with staff more focused on socializing with the person they were checking in than moving the line efficiently. As the guy behind me in line put it, "we have a little too much customer service going on here." - **Room:** Bed was uncomfortable, and I wacked my shins on the extended platform frame multiple times. -**Beach** Beautiful and clean! But be aware, the promo materials say that two chairs and an umbrella are included with your stay, but there is no guarantee you will get them. They are first come, first served. -**Spa** Phenomenal! - **Housekeeping:** Inconsistent — our room wasn’t cleaned one day, glasses weren’t replaced, and damp towels were rehung. - **Phone system:** Confusing AI menu sent engineers to our room instead of connecting us to the front desk. - **Restaurant:** Unsafe for food allergies. One day toast was “safe" for someone with Celiac, the next day it wasn’t. Many staff were not allergy trained. The restaurant opened late, and the front desk refused to escalate the issue. Food was okay, but watch out for those already added service fees! - **Lobby:** Freezing at 59 degrees, staff acknowledged but did nothing. - **Checkout:** A disaster. We had to change our flight home and leave early due to the government shutdown, but staff insisted we pay for the unused night and made us wait 20 minutes while they tried to figure how to bill us for it. Apparently, we were checking out so early that the system wouldn't charge the night. The manager later called to say that we weren't going to be charged for the night, but the damage to our experience was already done. This property failed us at nearly every touchpoint.

This was our first time staying in Clearwater, and we were so pleasantly surprised by the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach! From the moment we checked in, the staff went above and beyond. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful, from the front desk to the bar and pool staff. You can tell they really care about creating a great experience for guests. The hotel itself is beautiful and spotless; everything feels fresh, clean, and well maintained. The rooms are spacious, modern, and comfortable with some of the most incredible balcony views. Whether you’re an early riser watching the sunrise or relaxing in the evening for sunset, you can’t go wrong, the views are just stunning. The location is unbeatable. You’re steps away from the beach, restaurants, and shops, so it’s super easy to walk anywhere you’d want to go. The pool area is gorgeous and well kept, with plenty of seating and a fun, relaxing vibe for both adults and families. We ate at the on-site restaurant several times during our stay — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — and each meal was delicious. The breakfast buffet was one of our favorites, and dinner on the patio during sunset was amazing. This has easily become one of our favorite vacation spots. We’ll definitely be coming back and plan to make this a family tradition for years to come. Highly recommend the Wyndham Grand if you’re looking for the perfect Clearwater getaway!

Excellent and memorable vacation at the Wyndham Grand. Very, very clean hotel and clean lobby, neat decorating, comfortable, great upbeat music upon lobby entry, cold AC, infused cold fruit water right when you walk in, friendly greetings and service, great bar, excellent food. Sushi is good. The pool area is relaxing, clean, and really nice. Situated within short walking distance of all the fun stuff! The beach, cabanas, chairs, and umbrellas are literally steps from the lobby. Overall, very impressive hotel in every way. Great vibes, put together with all the little classy touches. Wow. I'll be back....soon.

Sandy at the pool side bar is an amazing waitress. We sat in her area everyday we were down there! She remembers your name and calls you by it! She deserves recognition for sure! Also Nathan was super nice and chatted with my husband when he seen him. Super nice guy!

Great place to stay! Every single worker (valet, front desk, housekeeping, servers) was friendly and welcoming. Room was spotless and included two reusable aluminum water bottles. They have filtered drinking water on each floor with the ice machines. The pool is a nice size, not really kid-friendly as it quickly slopes from about 3' 9" to 5' in the middle, but water was good temp and decently sized. We only ate at the restaurant for breakfast one day but the food was good. We loved the location being close to the pier, it made for each walking to other places.

Lance the valet attendant was exceptional . He went above & beyond. for me & my sister. He recommended excellent restaurants during our stay , in addition the the restaurant in the hotel. He was pleasant, cordial & couldn't have been any nicer. Upon departure, we met Brandon who was super nice as well.

Yelp
A favorite hotel right on the gulf. We upgraded to a balcony room overlooking the gulf for $40 a night. We'll worth it. The hotel is very clean and the service for the most part is fantastic. Valet lacks a bit, especially when busy. We had to unload and take our own bags up, as we couldn't obtain help. As a guest you get a chair and umbrella rental included with your stay. My company also held their holiday party in the hotel. It was a good weekend.

Yelp
This is large nice resort right across the street from the beach. Our room had a lovely view and we enjoyed the service. As part of your resort fee you are able to use two beach chairs and an umbrella at the beach which is normally $40. I must say I enjoyed that every morning I stayed here. The beach does get crowded in the afternoons. They are completing maintenance on the building starting at 8 am most week days so please keep that in mind. I wish I would have been made aware of that upon check in. It just made for earlier starts for me. The breakfast buffet was very good and I recommend it. Please be aware that this is a valet only hotel, bring cash or use the QR code to tip. It does seem like the QR codes are everywhere to tip here.

Yelp
The hotel is right across the street from the beach. We rented a King room with a bay view. Parking was $40/night. The hotel staff gave us welcome drinks. We were able to check in two hours early. A late checkout is $100. The furniture looked dated but the room was comfortable. The hotel has a "green" feature on the thermostat. If the door is left open even for 15 seconds, the temperature will rise. I can appreciate it if the door was forgotten when a guest left the room. It was ridiculous having an issue just going outside to sit on the balcony and carrying snacks and quickly shutting the door. The balcony was awesome. The small refrigerator didn't seem that cold. The lamp had a usb charging port. Some of the extra charging areas didn't work. The shower was nice. If guests forget items (toothbrush, toothpaste, Emory board, mouthwash) the front desk can help. The pool was great. Wyndham supplies guests with pool or beach towels. Free chairs and umbrellas are included for the beach. You can rent a cabana for $10. The small gym had treadmills, bicycles and weights. The spa wasn't busy. The hotel doesn't have an ice machine. My work around to not calling room service for ice was to ask a bartender for a cup of ice each time I needed it. The boardwalk was close by. Pier 60 is a short walking distance. There were vendors and performers. The bar had grab and go sandwiches and pastries as well as a menu. There was a $12 breakfast omelette special. Checkout was easy. I appreciated using the luggage scale.

Yelp
Recently stayed here for (3) nights while attending corporate meetings and I can't think of anything that the staff could have done any better. The check in process was simple after leaving my Jeep with the valet parking attendant (I'm not a fan of valet parking "only" but this crew was so professional I felt completely comfortable handing over my keys) - the custom wrist band access key with our company logo was pretty cool and an example of the detail this hotel provides. The beach facing rooms were really nice, modern and extremely clean with plenty amenities, with a spacious balcony that not only provided a great view with the large siding door but also lets the ocean breeze in and I loved the quiet ambiance the 15th floor provided. Over all this hotel was a great choice, the restaurants were excellent and the lobby bar was the perfect space to socialize with friends and associates. The staff here in all areas of the hotel were amazing and we definitely got the "full monty" when it came to service and accommodations. This is a hotel I'd definitely return to when visiting the Clearwater area. Everything comes at a price but I did feel the value was here when you consider all the amenities and if you don't want to leave the site in your vehicle there's no need to being there are so many entertainment options within walking distance plus it has its own beach with two chairs and an umbrella included in the price of the room. I am sure there are more luxurious options in the area but this place definitely exceeded our expectations...

Yelp
The minute you arrive to at the resort you feel the genuine sense that you are going to have a great stay . The people at Valet are very informative and well spoken . Then as you come inside you are greeted with smiles and the happiness of something that likes their job . The young lady that checked us in was, nothing but excitement. Very soft spoken with a little of humor. I can't rave enough about our room And view we got on check in . If ever in Clearwater this is the place to enjoy with great views all around . Plus extra perks the pool and hot tub is open until 3 am . That alone is a major perk from most places .

Yelp
We like this location! Nice rooms and fantastic beach. There are plenty of dining and shopping options close by. Nice pool and hot tub.

Yelp
After an absence of a few years from our Annual celebratory vacation at the Wyndham Grand in Clearwater, my wife and I booked our trip a few months ago for a return visit to Clearwater beach, which we fell in love with 14 years ago during our first visit to the Beach. We had booked and communicated with the first GM David Yamada in late 2022, who grew to be more of a friend with each passing year. Sadly, I learned from his wife of his passing earlier this year after he had worked on a successful transfer to a new ownership group who brought in a new management company to run the Property while keeping the Wyndham name. We debated about our trip but wanted to visit the Property to remember David and see the changes from 2019. Fortunately, the Property named as GM Seth McDaniels one of the senior management staff of the new operating Group who worked closely with David and was an obvious choice to run the Property. Mr McDaniels was very courteous to respond to my reach-out and despite being scheduled to be away during our visit, put me in touch with one of his senior staff Nick Darato while we visited. It was very nice of Management to give us a great upgrade as a Diamond Member and extra special while celebrating at Ocean Hai (the best restaurant in the area hands-down) to arrange a nice surprise for my wife and I. The Property still is awesome, with its location, facilities (gym, pool, spa) staff (shout out to Tammy), Housekeeping (shout out to Lisa) , Pool area (shout out to the towel attendants) and restaurant (shout out to Manger Sergio and Rauf). Given the addition of new hotels, I saw new faces among staff, which is to be expected and clearly the new GM is building his team to maintain (and grow) the excellent reputation of this property. No easy task with all of the new properties built as well as bring built. Our stay was great and we thank all the staff for their courtesy, friendliness and service. Clearly GM McDaniels deserves kudos for the seamless transition. Now a few tips to my fellow travelers. When the hotel is sold out and there can be line at the elevator, take the elevators around the corner to the 3rd floor and walk over to the room elevators and push down or up for a faster ride to your rooms. Second I found out the hard way that if your valet auto is parked on floor 4 or 5, you will have to wait a while to have your car brought around (I spoke to Tammy about this) Third when you receive a voucher that gives discounts ranging from 10-20% to visit various facilities, start with the lobby bar and then if your are visiting Ocean Hai, use that second is worth a 15% discount. Fourth, these employees work really hard to give you a great experience. Please remember to tip not just Housekeeping, but valet and also the towel attendants (clearly it was unusual because I received the widest smiles and thank yous) Enjoy the great experience at this wonderful Resort.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel two times and both times I can't complain. I haven't had any problems with this hotel. The beach is right in the back, they offer two complimentary beach chairs and an umbrella, the pool is also very relaxing with a hot tub and a pool side bar. Both times I visited the service was great, they are very friendly and welcoming. Even when you check out, they encourage you to leave your bags with valet so you can continue enjoying the amenities. Overall, I've had a great experience both times and you bet that I will be coming back again

Yelp
This hotel was absolutely stunning! All of the finishes from top to bottom were beautiful. We booked a suite w/ a king bed & it was fit for a king. The room was in pristine condition, modern furniture, & both balconies had a great view of the beach. Hotel has a restaurant & a couple of bars. Large pool & jacuzzi, which doesn't close until 2am which was really nice to hang out & chat with friends & other guests. Walking distance to pier 60 which has great fishing & a host of other bars & restaurants.

Yelp
We stayed here for spring break. Nice hotel in Clearwater Beach. Good selection of in hotel dining and cocktailing. The staff did a great job tending to our needs. My only gripe was that there is no self parking, but given the real estate situation its not a surprise. We spent a lot of time at the pool. You'll need to get out there early to get a chair. They do a good job of monitoring for people not using their chairs and reclaim them after about an hour of no use. The hotel is in a great location for enjoying Clearwater Beach.

Yelp
Nicely decorated but suboptimal front desk staff experience .. got placed in low room facing east rock bar which played loudly til 11-12 ish-- told by front desk no way to change rooms at 9 pm -- what are your fingers broken?? Rude !!

Yelp
Stayed here for a recent work conference. The customer service, rooms, bar, coffee bar, pool and beach were all 10/10. Would recommend!

Yelp
Just finished up our stay at the Wyndham. We stayed for 5 nights and we fell in love with the resort. It is a beautiful property... the front desk staff were always pleasant. We had an ocean view room, it was clean , classy and comfortable. The balcony is nice to sit out on at night. The people who work at DOKs at the pool are awesome... Yuli and Kelly work their asses off! The beach is just a few steps away from the resort. Now a few things that kept this from being 5 stars: - the pool was very crowded, it was hard to find chairs and space to enjoy - the elevators would take a long time - the coffee shop is overpriced for what it is - spa is insanely priced as well But we loved it here and plan on returning!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay! We were on the 11th floor with the intracoastal view and though it wasn't as good as a beach view, it was still really nice getting to see the harbor and all the boats come and go. The room had a wonderful size balcony with a nice glass wall that was high enough to make me feel safe with my toddler in the vicinity. The bed was soooo comfy, felt like sleeping on a cloud. Room was extremely clean, bathroom was very nice and I loved the small details (bathrobe, slippers, champagne bc I told them I was there celebrating my bday, water bottles, and makeup removal wipes with special face towel). The crib for my son was super comfy for him as well. The employees were all super friendly. You can call down and request your car from valet in advance so you don't have to wait downstairs. You get two beach chairs and an umbrella for free by the beach or can pay $10 for a cabana with two chairs on the beach- def worth the price! The beach is across the street, but not a far walk at all. I was worried it wasn't right on the beach, but it wasn't bad at all even with a two year old. Hotel is on a nice sidewalk with many different restaurants and activities. Pier 60 is a 5 min walk as well. Beach- -beautiful clear water, with the softest sand. Also you get an incredible sunset on this beach! I took away one star for a few reasons: -pool, really nice but pretty small for the number of guests. It was always very crowded. - prices of food onsite. I guess it's expected that the food is always expensive at a hotel but they add so many service fees, etc that really add up. Room serve was sooo expensive for what you get. Coffee was $10 at the Starbucks downstairs.

Yelp
Stayed here for a few days with my mom for spring break and this is the best hotel we have been to! Beautiful beach and pool and there are complimentary towels and beach chairs. Very clean and safe atmosphere. In a walkable area to get to everything you need. If you're staying in Clearwater, stay here!

Dan R.

Yelp
Have stayed at the Wyndham grand several times and have always been impressed. The location is great, service is friendly and the rooms and lobby are clean and comfortable. Great location that is a short walk to all of the action in Clearwater beach.

Russell F.

Yelp
Kicked out of pool....... I rented a week for family including grandkids and at noon they tell me I'll have to move from the pool side best for kids for a private party and find a spot on the other side. The other side is less than 20% of the seating space and they want to squeeze everyone to that side? BAD DECISION

Simone H.

Yelp
Long story short during my post visit survey, I brought to the hotels' attention a couple of events I experienced that were racially induced. I received an apology letter but in no way did they actually address the specific issues; the email felt very cut-and-paste and impersonal. Most of the other staff were pleasant but I would never stay there again. SN: Not the cleanest either. The room had a stench and there were stains in multiple areas. My fault for not addressing it during my stay but I did not want to add more of a target to my back.

Brooke M.

Yelp
We stayed at the Wyndham Grand Resort in Clearwater BeMach and had a great time. Resort was clean. Amenities such as the pool & spa were amazing. Then the staff was incredible. We were treated like royalty. Marty helped us with our bags and was such a happy person to be around it was contagious. Anna Marie at the bar was also amazing. She was our bartender for most of our stay and she went above and beyond. She took it upon herself to remember our names, always greeted us with a smile on her face and made us tasty drinks. She made us exactly what we asked for or requested every time. She even remembered our drink of choice. She really went above and beyond for us. You can tell she was a really hard worker and she really stood out to us as an exceptional asset to the Wyndham. Overall, wonderful stay and even more wonderful staff

Meaghan B.

Yelp
We stayed for 4 nights this past week and couldn't have asked for a better location! and with all the bars so close we still ended up at the lobby bar and only because of Anna Marie. she is so personable and just an all around great person to be around! We will be back to see her hopefully someday!

Lilly M.

Yelp
Super great big hotel with a gym and outdoor pool and hot tub with an indoor hotel bar and outdoor bar right next to the ocean great staff great food little pricey and not so good hotel cleaners but other than that amazing

Melissa L.

Yelp
We had such an amazing experience at this hotel and I would go back there in a heartbeat!! I went with a friend who lives in the area, my teenage daughter and her two friends. We drove from Fort Lauderdale and the experience was top notch as soon as I pulled up to the valet. We had coffee cups in our car and the valet took everything for us first to throw away and then took our luggage so we could enjoy the pool before we were able to check in. The front desk was so friendly as well. We had a mixup with our room but the hotel staff made up for it right away and made it right! The property is so clean, room was clean. Housekeeping came everyday. Restaurants had a nice variety. Used the fitness center that overlooked the pool and beach, so Gorgeous. We got complimentary beach chairs and an umbrella with our room. Couldn't be happier. Everyone had a great time. Would stay here again for sure!!!

Yelp
The 12 year old boys they hire as "security" can be heard actively making fun of people instead of " securing" the place. Can't wait to stay somewhere with adults who make me feel safe.
