Great beach access and proximity to off resort activities that are far away from the tourist trap San Juan. Standard rooms are more then enough for anybody that doesn't want to spend much time at the resort from your return back from the quad runners, rain forrest hikes or zip lining and ect. You can relax in one of the many resort features without feeling like you have a basic package if you do. The estate is huge with many unused venues, hallways, parking lots, restaurants, bars on top of tennis courts and golfing galore. Even though this is a "golfing resort" you need not walk an inch on the range just to feel like you paid for the high roller package.
We passed time share villas, what looked like long term condo units outside the main property, standard single rooms , double, family size and suites in the main property that was extremely well maintained. The night creature sounds pumped over the well hidden speakers throughout the property is something new to me, though.
The staff meet our every expectations and for the times that we experienced that they did not, an effort was made to overcome it without attitude or debate. One of the bartenders spilled one of my drinks and craped out afterward. I tipped him well that night. He seemed to be so young and frustrated that the next day I felt like giving him an unsolicited acknowledgement and an example of how to recover and keep himself in the customers good graces enough to keep his gratuities going.
As with any accommodations, I suggest the you always call at least a week ahead of your physical arrival if not at the time of booking to confirm all out of pocket expenses. This hotel has a 22% daily "hotel accommodation" charge (that is taxed at 11%) that adds up. This charge;no matter the package, seems like an up sell but I blame ourselves for not confirming that it was required upon checking in. At our time of vist the parking was $15 a day, drinks were appropriately priced but remember this before you pull out cash, everything is charged to your room with a standard gratuity percentage added.
Our room stayed clean each day. Dislpite the drunk couple next to us at the bar, that explined and complined about. Noi dobt it was because of how they treated the staff. I was impressed by the Pariqua, the Dos Muderos rum I was introduced to; now my Hennesy replacement, the Boriqua pork, for us garlic lovers, and the peanut butter ice cream all in the same resort. I must say that making reservations in one of the many restaurants is vital and to not assume because you are a first, a table is available for walking in.
Early March and leaving before the 15th seemed ideal to not have to deal with a college crowd. Family size activity sewm started up closer to the 15th rather then the single digit days where we experienced little to no hall running and kid caious. We did hear one adult scrubb his face and bounce his body outside our room from what seemed like an unexpeirenced flip-flop run away from what, we don't know at 11:45 p.m. The staff was heard investigating not to long after.
