The 20 Best Hotels in Puerto Rico

"When you want all the amenities but not the crowds, this off-the-beaten path boutique delivers, especially for golfers and tennis enthusiasts. Clay-tiled roofs and pastel pinks make this property appear to be in a perpetual state of sunset. The resort includes amenities of a larger-scale stay—from a swim-up bar to beach beds to tennis courts—but with an intimate guest count. 107 newly-renovated rooms, some pool-side, some with balconies, all awash in seafoam and wood tones. Art in the room mimics the beautiful greenery, such as the ubiquitous Pterocarpus trees, that populates the property. The resort sits among a Pterocarpus forest and turtle nesting area for those looking to reconnect with lush, verdant greenery and wildlife." - Kathleen Squires

Great Day Pass Experience at Wyndham Palmas 🌞 We spent the day at Wyndham Palmas using a day pass and had a truly lovely experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and well taken care of. A big thank you to Javier and Viviana, who were incredibly helpful with directions and assistance — their kindness made everything smooth and stress-free. Jayson at the front desk was also wonderful, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. The resort itself is beautiful, with clean facilities and a relaxing atmosphere. We especially enjoyed lounging by the pools and soaking in the peaceful surroundings. One small suggestion: the secondary pool could benefit from having a bar and a few more attendants to enhance the guest experience, especially during busy hours. Overall, it was a fantastic way to spend the day, and we’d definitely recommend the day pass to anyone looking for a relaxing escape in Palmas!

5-Star Stay at Wyndham Palmas Beach & Golf Resort, Humacao, Puerto Rico! From the moment we arrived at the Wyndham Palmas Beach & Golf Resort in Palmas del Mar, we knew we were in for something special. Nestled within the lush, Wow! 2,700-acre Palmas del Mar community, this resort felt like our own private slice of paradise on Puerto Rico’s eastern coast. The Room & Views
Our oceanfront suite was spacious, spotless, and beautifully appointed with modern Caribbean décor. The private balcony overlooked the turquoise Caribbean Sea—waking up to that view with coffee in hand was pure magic. The bed was cloud-like, and the rainfall shower was a luxurious touch after a day at the beach. The Resort Grounds & Amenities
The property is a tropical dream: two miles of pristine beach, multiple pools (including a stunning infinity pool), and the iconic Palmas Golf Club (we played the Flamboyán course—challenging but breathtaking). The beach attendants were so attentive, setting up chairs and umbrellas before we even asked. Kayaks and paddleboards were complimentary, and the calm waters were perfect for a morning paddle. Dining
We dined at The Flycatcher and were blown away—try the mofongo with fresh catch of the day! The Pool Bar & Grill kept us fueled with piña coladas and ceviche between swims. Room service was prompt and delicious (midnight empanadas hit the spot). Service
The staff truly made the stay. Marisol at the front desk upgraded us with a smile, and Carlos at the beach bar remembered our drink orders all week. Everyone was warm, genuine, and proud to share Puerto Rican hospitality. Location Bonus
A quick golf cart ride to the Palmas del Mar village for gelato, boutique shopping, and live salsa at the plaza. The resort’s seclusion made it peaceful, but we loved popping over to explore. Perfect For
Couples, families, or golf enthusiasts—this place has it all. We left relaxed, sun-kissed, and already planning our return. Thank you, Wyndham Palmas, for the best vacation we’ve had in years! 🌴✨

Gabriel Valle is seriously one of the best bartenders out there. He’s super friendly, easy to talk to, and always makes you feel welcome the second you sit down. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does and cares about giving people a great experience.| His drinks are always on point, and he somehow keeps up with everyone while still taking the time to chat and make sure you’re good. Whether you’re a regular or it’s your first time there, Gabriel makes the place feel comfortable and fun. He’s the kind of bartender that keeps you coming back.

I have to agree with the review that Jessica wrote. I wanted to share some feedback about my recent stay. This is actually my second time staying at the property because I truly enjoy the pool and facilities—they’re beautiful and very family-oriented. Unfortunately, this stay highlighted some areas where I feel the experience could be improved. I had specifically reserved a garden room and noted that I am an oncology patient requiring accessibility. Upon arrival, I was told there was no room available, which was disappointing. The check-in policy of 4 p.m. is understandable, but in both of my stays, the room was not ready until after 4 p.m., which makes the wait even more difficult. The room itself was also below expectations: the floors were chipped and dirty, and it lacked basic amenities like a microwave. Having to go to the restaurant to warm meals for my child—and having to sign multiple forms to do so—was inconvenient. Additionally, housekeeping seemed understaffed and service was inconsistent. I want to emphasize that I do enjoy the property’s pool and overall family-friendly atmosphere, but the room conditions, accessibility issues, and staffing challenges really impacted this stay. I hope you can take this feedback constructively, as I would love to return if these areas are addressed.

The entire pool bar staff, the restaurant staff and front desk staff. Highly highly recommend this resort. My husband and I had the best 5 days. Relaxed and great food. Drinks amazing. Everyone who works here deserves a raise!!!! Will definitely be back. Thank you to all who took care of us. Gracias ❤️ 🇵🇷

When my partner and I first walked into the lobby at around 9pm on Tuesday night of 9/16/2025, there were three staff members talking among themselves. They did not acknowledge us until we made it very obvious (a few feet away), they did not offer to help with any bags, the front desk lady asked for confirmation for just one night to not charge for two nights of incidentals. Despite showing her our reservation for one night, I was charged for the two nights. After listening to the front desk agent, who did not provide us with WiFi code, if it would be possible to request a late checkout, we were told that we had to check in the morning despite stating that the occupancy was very low and there should be no problem. Unsure why she couldn’t just do it as a courtesy given our already bad experience at check-in. When we asked for a bell cart, the lady pointed at the entrance where there was no one to assist so I had to ask her for further assistance. After getting our two wristbands to go into the room, we opened the refrigerator that had zero water so my partner went to the lobby to ask if this was forgotten since it is a full service hotel and we are paying a premium for the night. My family has a house in Palmas and this is by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had not only in terms of customer service but also my partner was told that we had to purchase two water bottles at the bar. Nothing about this place is luxurious as when we were turning on the lights of our room #48, the entrance lamp had so much rust it was disgusting to the point I’ve never seen such deteriorated “features” in a “luxury hotel”. I used to work for Marriott and Hyatt as a front desk supervisor and what I saw next while taking a shower made me feel extremely sick. While using the bathroom, there were visible stains near the toilet area of all walls adjacent, the ceiling of the bathroom had black mold growing which shows that this was not worth the $250.00 paid per night. I wanted to use the hotel at Palmas as an “experience” to see if it would be up to the standards advertised but I will not be recommending this at all to any of my friends or family members. I wanted to see if this hotel would be a possible contender for wedding hotel and venue for our friends and family from abroad. I felt embarrassed to have stayed at this location when we wanted privacy before heading to my family’s home. Out of the 15days we were in PR, this was the most disappointing stay in all aspects. There was no valet service, when we asked about directions to the parking lot, the lady at the front desk said “you’ll see it right there when you are out of the driveway”. I asked to the left or to the right? She insisted without answering my question even though I spoke to her in Spanish (my native language) and English to try and clarify. We stayed at Old San Juan, Culebra, Rincón and Hatillo which were all comparable or a fraction of the cost at a much better customer service experience and quality overall. Don’t waste your time and patience at this hotel.

Perfect Family Getaway! My family and I were visiting from Houston, and we were very happy with our stay. From check-in to checkout, everything went smoothly. The staff was welcoming, the amenities were great, and the whole atmosphere was calm and relaxing—exactly what we needed for a break from the city. The room was the highlight: super clean, comfortable, and smelled fresh. We felt right at home. The front desk staff was also very accommodating and kindly extended our checkout time since we had to wait a bit for our room to be ready. What really stood out was how family-friendly everything was. Our kids loved the free s’mores kit, and they had a blast feeding the turtles—such a unique and fun experience! The beach was just a short walk away, which made it even better. Everyone was friendly, and the property felt peaceful and well cared for. We truly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely come back again!

Yelp
Don't sleep on this place!!! Such a hidden gem in the heart of southeast Puerto Rico! Resort was incredibly clean and comfortable. What made it the most special is the staff. Hector over in the bar and Marilyn over in Tova restaurant really made our stay super special. I also love how close many great attractions are such as horseback riding, the beach, and a forest. Definitely the type of place you can Uber from SJU to and enjoy yourself for a few days without having the need to rent a car.

Yelp
This 5 star review is for Hector the pool bartender !! He was so sweet and took really good care of us . Literally our stay would have not been the same if he had was not there . THANK YOU from the 3 of us Hector for your hospitality - Diana , Susie and Lupita

Yelp
If I can give this review zero stars I would. For my first time in Puerto Rico with my boyfriend this hotel was the biggest downside of the trip We did not get our room serviced for THREE days The first day we notified the front desk our room was not serviced. Housekeeping came to clean the room and but did not take the dirty towels. We went to the front desk again to get our towels and had to wait to get new towels. The second day we notified the front desk we were going into town all day & we need our room cleaned. The front desk confirmed they would clean the room. We left the hotel at 12pm, came back at 9pm and our room was not cleaned. Keep in mind the front desk confirmed they would have housekeeping come. When I explained the situation to the night manager he turned around and interrupted me while I was explaining how we haven't had our room serviced for three days. He said the only thing he can do was give us clean towels, toilet paper, send an email to housekeeping, and put us for housekeeping for first thing in the morning they start. Luckily, the manager who was notified of this situation was helpful. When the housekeeping came by they left a wet spot on the bed from the picture below. We notified the manager AGAIN about the wet spot on the bed. Housekeeping came by AGAIN to fix the bed. This was truly unacceptable. Food- The food and drinks was pricey. Some days it was good some days it was just ok, definitely not worth the price. Room- The room was outdated for sure. In the picture below was our sliding door and it was not allowed to be opened. The heat was not working for the AC. We notified the front desk but they never came to fix it. Some of the cold settings would be freezing or super warm. The tv didn't have a lot options. Thank goodness for wifi so we used our streaming services on our phones. The safe stopped working at one point so we had to call maintenance. We used our suitcase since there was only two small drawers so we only had room to use them for our dirty clothes. The room definitely needs renovations. Towels for the pool- The towel stand gives you a ticket for the towels. If you don't return the towels with the ticket you'll get charged- be aware of this. We also had issues getting more than two towels with the reasoning being "we only give one towel per person." The hotel doesn't have hot water at all. It was either luke warm or cold. Who knows how long they haven't had hot water based on the other recent reviews. Overall- I would give them zero stars. The service here was very infuriating and put a dent on our experience. I highly recommend you choose another hotel. *Edit: When I had my bill adjusted due to my horrible experience here I was charged for parking the entire visit when we only rented a car for two days. It was confirmed when I checked out that I would get a call once everything was adjusted. I had to call the hotel twice to confirm everything was adjusted when I promised a call. Today I was charged more than what I was supposed to pay and the bill was not properly adjusted. This is extremely infuriating and waste of my money. *

Yelp
Great service, and the food was well prepared and delicious. A bit pricey, but again you're on the island and for the atmosphere, it was well worth the price.

Alexandra E.

Yelp
The staff was great! The location was really peaceful and a nice area. There was some great food nearby. The rooms were wonderful. The daily breakfast was pretty good. The music was often way too loud for the amount of people. The pool was nice and again the staff was remarkable. But they had an issue with bed bugs and I ended up tore up from bed bug bites from (best guess) the pillows. The staff said they had treated but it was unclear when. I didn't take any chances. I plastic bagged everything coming home. Washed everything immediately and tossed the luggage.

Yelp
Of the 22 hotels I've stayed in in 2022, this is the worst. $659 to stay there on NYE. What they didn't tell us was that they were closing all the restaurants on site for an event (that they didn't upsell us to!). Absolutely no food available at the hotel or anywhere else in the Palmas compound aside from gristly beef and chicken hearts in a "paella" available from the lobby convenience store. If you'd like to go somewhere for a nice vacation and be treated with dignity, this is not the right place for you. The good news? The property is beautiful, so it's only a matter of improving management to create a great experience.

Yelp
If you're a golfer or someone that just wants to relax this is a good spot, unfortunately trying to get any of the staff to move efficiently is another difficulty. There is much to be said about "island time" but nothing can describe the actual speed of it ! Island Time makes "Mosey" look fast ! If you don't plan your meals you will starve...there is only one restaurant on site and a small cafe concession. If you want coffee be prepared to wait no less than 15 minutes..it ain't Starbucks ! They take each individual order and make them one by one, and yes, no rush. The bar is another conundrum in itself....ssssslow ! Drinks come out great but forget trying to get a buzz on. These bartenders clearly need some training. The hotel is very nice, don't get me wrong...the stay was peaceful if you're into a quiet and uneventful vacation but the staff here are not efficient at all.

Yelp
You must rent a car if you are staying on this resort. The only food on the resort is American. They do not have any Puerto Rican food on the resort. Once you get dropped off here you are stranded. No door dash, no Uber. A taxi was 160 to take us to Luquillo beach and back. This is the only taxi in the area and you have to use him. They offer a golf cart for 85 per night. Might as well rent a car. They are doing construction on the property which we were not warned about. Loud drilling sound early in the morning daily. Our room balcony door did not lock. The staff however were very friendly but not accommodating. Do not come here if you want to explore Puerto Rico and eat their authentic food. This is to stay and golf. That is it.

Yelp
This property is beautiful, so it's very very sad that the majority of employees are so rude and just could care less. It's almost like your bothering them just by being there. From the moment we paid and checked into our room the problems started. And the manager is ridiculous, he offered to refund a large chunk of money, didn't do it and then called me drunk to explain and apologized for being drunk ‍ Then corporate does absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. Just don't bother wasting your money there are PLENTY of other beautiful places to stay on the island without having to deal with all of this nonsense.

Yelp
I had previously stayed at the Wyndham Palmas Beach & Golf Resort during the end of October 2023, and I can advocate that the service was phenomenal! Front desk personnels during every shift were wonderful (haha had way too much fun to sleep, didn't sleep practically the whole stay and the rooms are gorgeous!). The hotel staff are great, especially Carlos! This young gentleman is very informative with the hotel events, attractions, restaurants, etc., and gave us the best option of what to try based on our interests. After all the fun, on our last day we decided to go horseback riding at 9am. Although it was a rainy day, there were moments where the rain was on and off, I thought it was the best weather to go horseback riding and if anyone does so, I suggest going in sneakers you wouldn't mind getting dirty or boots. The weather was best for the people and horses. Puerto Rico's sun is too hot to handle. The tour guide I highly recommend is Lily, and she gave us the best experience possible. I was intrigued by her knowledge of horses. Taught us the difference between different species of horses, their hair, character, behaviors, attitudes, all there is to know and more! These horses had different personalities and paid great attention to the riders and leader. These are very intelligent animals. Being that I had never ridden a horse, EVER, I was given Chestnut. He's wonderful and was more of my flow. I would let him nibble and carry some tall grass on the trail during the tour, he was such a sweetie. Our trail was an hour long and the sites were absolutely breathtaking, especially when we got to the beach! Felt like I was in a movie. Anyways, I'm typing too much!! I can go on and on, but in my opinion, this hotel is the best place to stay! I highly recommend at the Wyndham Palmas Beach & Golf Resort, you won't regret it!

James D.

Yelp
Worst hotel experience I have ever had. Black mold in the rooms...one of the days the ceiling started leaking water all over my stuff.. Management has a smart ass attitude... You have to pay per day for parking which is about half a mile from the hotel and you have to walk to the room.... AND they top off your experience with a $39.00 per day "resort fee" that you get informed about on checkout... Shit place.

Mikayla G.

Yelp
Not the best resort. When booking the staff failed to mention that the casino and fitness area are being remodeled. During my stay I was not able to go to the casino or gym.. the beach is not as it seems in photos. The all inclusive package is really not all inclusive and there are many limitations. This hotel needs to step it up and match as it's described on the website. If you're looking for a great resort the Wyndham rio mar was amazing. Won't be staying here again.

Dylan N.

Yelp
Amazing resort had the best experience. I was visiting Puerto Rico for the first time. Resort has good service, and a FANTASTIC coffee shop, food could be better in many ways. They also have great beach access. At the beach it has GREAT views ,BEAUTIFUL sunrises and sunsets. Was not too crowded at the beach or there's just a lot of space. Around the resort you can see wild iguanas sun bathing. Over all a great resort!

Yelp
1 star for cleanliness and staff friendliness. Otherwise it all sucks. I won't be back here... EVER. First thing, DO NOT ORDER THE ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE THROUGH EXPEDIA. We got here and the hotel said we didn't have it included. I made the assumption that having the all inclusive would be worthwhile at a resort. I was wrong. $80 per day per person. Not worth it The hotel has one restaurant, don't buy into any BS about 10+ restaurants. This one restaurant isn't all that bad but ( oh yea, there's a but) it's small, understaffed and a scam. One night we showed up and they said "no menu, only buffet and it's an additional charge". So the one place to eat was unexpectedly not part of the all inclusive. $12 charge person to have a selection of about 6 things for dinner. No exaggeration. More things to note. This place is no where near anything. The other restaurants they claim to have are not part of the all inclusive and are at least a 15 min walk away. You can't even get to the beach without a shuttle. They tack on charges for the most random stuff. Great place to relax and wonder why you didn't do all these things elsewhere. Management needs to change everything about the way this place is run. Keep the staff, they are super nice. Not the fastest, but nice. Ground are nice and I'm told there is good golfing close by.

Diego G.

Yelp
Super rude and horrible service. Rooms are nasty and they tried to charge us extra fees at the resort during check in a total of 200 plus dolors for a shit ass room

Yelp
January 1st 2016: I gave this two stars because it was at least clean, safe and most of the staff was friendly. Pedro at the lobby bar and the three kids at the pool bar were very nice. Now for the negatives: Room 124 looks to have mold in the ceiling. It's clearly been cut into multiple times. The door appears to have been broken into at some point. The door is beaten to hell. The place is dead. Aside from kids playing in the pools the whole place is very quite with no activities for adults. Writing this review has been the most fun we've had since we got here. On three separate occasions I had someone at the front desk promise to deliver something to the room that never happened. The shuttle is not reliable. On one occasion we waited over an hour. But never less than 30 minutes. Which would have been fine had we not been told it will be there any minute. It's obvious the liquor is watered down. The pool towels have all had holes in them. The trash was not removed from our room two days in a row. And........now let's talk restaurants. For the all inclusive package, you have three options for dinner. One of those restaurants (the steak house) is only open two nights a week. So you have two options Sun-Thurs. We've been here 4 nights and the main restaurant has had the exact same buffet twice now. The beach restaurant is ok but has same dinner menu as lunch. So hoped you like lunch a lot cause you're having it again for dinner. Davids cookies which is not included with the all inclusive package is tasty but apparently they don't see the need to keep making cookies after a certain hour. We were there two hours before they closed and there was no cookies left and they acted as though that was normal. And only three varieties of ice cream. This place will challenge even the most optimistic person to find the silver lining. We can't wait to eat airport food. All in all neither my fiancé or I have any interest in staying here again and likely never at a Wyndam period.

Yelp
I purchased the all-inclusive groupon and stayed for 4 days, 3 nights with 5 other friends and stayed in July. This hotel is in a larger complex and is a bit hidden. But the complex is really pretty, includes plenty of running paths and even a church. The hotel is nice with a really beautiful, open lobby. The service was great and everyone was helpful. We ate at the Amalgama (sp?) restaurant the first night and they were able to make a delicious vegetarian mofongo for me. We checked in on Thursday and the place was empty. So the server was very attendant and accommodating. Breakfast the next morning was buffet style with plenty of vegetarian options, including made to order omelet and pancakes. Their home potatoes are wonderful and oatmeal in addition to continental breakfast standards. This is the only place for breakfast (served at Amalgama). As the weekend came, more people were there for breakfast but replenishment of food was on par. We at lunch once at the pool bar and it left much to be desired. The food was edible, definitely not good, and took over an hour. The only plus is drinks are part of the inclusive package and we can entertain ourselves with that alone. The exclusive dinner restaurant has a $15 cover charge and then everything else is included. We made reservations for 830pm, since we were told it closes at 9pm. We arrived and the shuttle driver had to convince the server to allow us entry. Just seemed weird for having made reservations and should've been a sign, but we sat down anyway. The server was actually great and very funny and helpful. Also made accommodations for 2 vegetarians. The food was actually great, but took over an hour and a half to arrive. There also was a wedding party in the next room, where the music and festivities took over the atmosphere. The music was so loud, I actually started to get a headache. We ate as fast as we could so we could leave. The infinity pools are quite nice and great for a relaxing night. They also have a hot tub that is great for after a long day of hiking in the rain forrest. The beach was fantastic, with no one around and gorgeous after a run through the complex. As another poster stated, this hotel is in Humacao, not San Juan, so not sure why the mistake by Yelp. Overall, I had a great stay. I really enjoyed the hotel and its offerings. I would stay again.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
My company suggested this hotel because it is close by. They are hosting a mid-week prom party (silly me I thought these were held on weekends) and have unbelievably loud music and base going. No way possible to drown out the sound and sleep. Front desk said the party would end at 11:30 pm. Nope. I called again at 11.50 to be told it would go until midnight. This hotel does not possess the sound proofing to be able to host guests and throw proms on the same night. I am paying to sleep here and that was not possible until midnight, well past my bedtime. If you are considering staying here you might want to first ask about what events they are hosting during your stay. Totally unacceptable experience. I will not stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed there for our 1st anniversary on November 6-8 2015 and I must say the stay was mediocre. I had stayed there years before when it belonged to Sheraton and it seemed better then. The house keeping staff were more polite and attentive than the reception staff. Our room was "run of the house" out of a Gustazos deal. It was close to the lobby and they had really loud music until after midnight and it was loud enough so that you could not hear the TV or sleep. The view from our room was rooftops and cables. The paint was bubbling of the wall in our room due to humidity, it rained a lot and the rain came in under the sliding doors and wet about 2-3 feet of carpet, the headboard was upholstered but had a nasty water (i hope) stain on it, and there was a big hole in the carpet right at the entrance. Decor is dated and not maintained. The bathroom was decent though...it had plenty of hot water and pressure and the bed was comfortable. In overall, there was not much to do. Stay out of David'Cookies, it sucked. As does the local restaurant Amalgama. The breakfast buffet at Amalgama, although discounted, is not free for guests and was not that good. The place to eat would be Pura Vida restaurant; which is in Palmanova Plaza, about a 5 minute drive from the hotel. The owner is super attentive and the food was awesome. Ooooohhhhh....and their biggest fail is making you wear a hospital ID type bracelet during your stay....that's retarded. The beach is beautiful although not swimmable. The community is beautiful but it's too far from significant nightlife. The pool is nice. It has an infinity pool but the effect is useless without the beach as a backdrop.
google avatar

Mary Ann C.

Yelp
A beautiful setting for a hotel. The beach is gorgeous and the grounds are kept impeccable. The security for the community is an added bonus. The problem here is that they need to update their rooms. The showers have serious problems with the water beong scorching hot or too cold. The decor is decent but they could really do better.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I did not stay at this resort, I only came for the infinity pool and the casino (I was staying at a rather un-lively timeshare). I was also there in the off-season (late August 2014). Somehow we got the impression that it was okay for us to swim there even if we weren't hotel guests. If you bring your own towel, this is particularly easy to get away with. We were purchasing drinks and food and the place was practically empty, so I figured it made sense! On our last visit (when asking for towels) we discovered we actually weren't allowed, but since it was the off-season and no one was there they were willing to make an exception. The pool is gorgeous as is the surrounding scenery. Iguanas are just running about (do not approach closely) and there are plenty of palm trees. Staff is kind of weird/amateurish but are willing to bend the rules. The bartenders were a bit unskilled and slow, which appears to be a theme in Puerto Rico from what I can tell. But the infinity pool was a blast with the beautiful scenery and swim-up bar, and the casino was fun for killing some time. Not a whole lot going on in Palmas del Mar, but this place seemed to be the most happening spot there. (PS: I am not sure why the Yelp page says it is in San Juan. The resort I went to is Humacao)

Yelp
I really wish my experience here wasn't bad I've never had a bad experience with a Wyndham hotel but unfortunately our experience from the moment we arrived was bad. We were "misinformed" about parking fees and a big deal was made bout it, we were told Valet is $16 or we had the option of self parking across from the hotel but weren't told there was still a price. And it really didn't make any sense for $1 or 2 less to self park. Then when booking through Expedia we booked a room for 4 adults have the confirmation to prove it and the hotel reception said there was a $40 charge per extra adult per night. But she ended up waiving the charge because we told her we booked through Expedia. Here's where we should've followed out instincts and headed for the hills we were given our room which was supposedly ready when we called in the early afternoon but that wasn't the case when we walked in! We walked in to a room that was disgusting beds undone, stained and what looked like bugs, unflushed toilet and a panty liner on the floor just dirty! The second room we were offered had a leak from the air conditioning I think and my friend nearly fell, the third room looked ok but after seeing the first and second room we should've just left the hotel. Really dumb of us! Bug bites and a face rash is what we left with and a shit load of prescriptions once I got home to fight whatever this bacteria is on my face my dermatologist said it could be from dirty towels or sheets horrible hotel experience!!!

Yelp
D I S G U S T I N G. B e d b u g s!!!! If you're considering staying here- I'm warning you- DONT. I'll let the pics do the talking. We checked in at 5pm (2 hrs after check in) and this is what our "rooms looked liked upon entering. They switched us to another room and it was completely flooded with water. They then switched us to another room which was finally clean and made and not flooded. However the shower water goes from HOT to COLD TO SCORCHING HOT the entire time you're showering every few seconds. There's no elevator so pray your rooms on the first floor, because they won't offer or help bring your luggage up or down. The second night there was some "live music" at the inner lobby. Let's just say it was terrible. It sounded like a bunch of toddlers got a hold of instruments and started playing all of them at the same time, with the base blasting. Very distasteful. And to top it all off, all my friends and I left the hotel with BED BUG BITES!!! YES!!! you read right. We had to fumigate our homes when we returned because we kept getting bit. Do not stay here.

Yelp
Over rated, checking at 4:00 pm, I arrived at 4:30pm no room ready, we decide to go and rent the golf car and came back later at 5:25 pm,still no room. No freaking excuse. No explanation about the hotel facilities. Simply the front desk service is a peace of garbage.

Yelp
This was a nice and clean hotel but I was greatly disappointed. I will begin with the positive. First, as soon as on enters palms del Mar, you get a sense of security and safety. A security guarded gate is just past the entrance and require your reservation to enter. Secondly, everything was clean and they always cleaned our room whenever we happened to go out, which varied greatly day to day. The room was also average size. However, we were told that it was 2 Queens but upon arrival discovered it was 2 full beds. When we asked front desk for a room change nothing that worked for our family was avaliable. One of the major problems with the hotel was that they were understaffed and disorganized. The bar at the pool was rarely staffed, and both the towel and parking lot kiosk were vacant most of the time. Additionally, the cafe and restaurant by lobby is very expensive. I recommend going to a panaderia 5 min away for breakfast. That is a real puerto rican breakfast. The last issue I encountered was the shower. My goodness, taking a shower at this hotel sucked. The water is either ice cold or boiling hot. There is no intermediate and I absolutely hated it. I hope they fix this issue in the future. I didn't rate 1 star because some of the staff (the maids) were kind, and the hotel was clean.

Yelp
Pro's and Con's about this hotel: Cons: pretty old hotel. Needs a huge makeover. Old and rooms smell a tad bit musty. When i showered, the water was either ice cold or boiling hot. Never really in between. Always had to rush when showering. The one restaurant onsite was overpriced and food was bland and not flavorful. They need more food options. Beach isn't swimmable at all, lots of rough rip currents and you can drown. Pros: staff is super friendly and kind. Pool was nice. Cleaning lady was nice. Rooms were kept maintained. Requested towels and received them within 10 minutes. Had a wonderful massage. Masseuse name was Cynthia and super friendly and gave you two options: massage by the pool under a tent or in your room. I chose in my room. I wanted the privacy. Restaurant by the pool (Ginger Bar), food was better there than the actual restaurant. Wifi was perfect (which was super important for me because I still had to work). If you're looking for a place to relax and don't have a care in the world with having absolutely nothing to do but just chill by the pool, this is the place. I loved it because I needed to decompress from NYC life. If you're looking for lots of activities and sightseeing, don't book your stay here. This place is very quiet. Don't expect to stay in some 5-star, new, expensive hotel like the Ritz. Totally the opposite. But I was okay with that.

Yelp
Got to the hotel around 10:00 PM. The hotel looked spacious and beautiful. First thing that caught my eyes was the David's cookie shop. Checked in and was hit with a $200.00 fee for having a non-smoking room. - Pool is 24/7 access service - Restaurants close at 10:00 when the hotel hours say 11 - if you like nature, the animals around the establishment is really fascinating. - the night bartenders in the lobby were AMAZING, Friendly, and hard working. They didn't articulate all the things that were included in the hotel. Gotta fish around to get information. The beach bar .4 miles away from the hotel is AMAZING. .. found that place online. When checking out got hit wit another $200.00 hotel service/ tax fees.

Yelp
The property was really nice, rooms were ok, bartenders were friendly, but I'm marking down because of the staff at the "welcome" reception area. We were there for 5 days, and there was only 1 lady that was even remotely friendly. The others seemed as if they were bothered to be there, definitely not hospitable. What confuses me, why take a job where you are to serve people and be friendly and you can't do that? The pools were nice, property just a quick walk away from the beach. Through the week, the bar at the pool (which serves food and drinks) closes at 5. This is a vacation spot, so I am very shocked that they don't stay open later through the week; at least through dinner. Also, there's apparently no staff to clean around the pool, as drinks and cups would still be in the same spot for days.

Yelp
We had went here in August of 2010 (sorry for the delayed review). When we went it here it was Four Points by Sheraton. First we took a taxi from Isla Verde here and when we arrived it was like paradise. There was a bellhop who took our bags and we checked into our room. At the front desk, the clerk was very welcoming and greeted us appropriately. We could not believe how gorgeous the grounds were and there were even iguanas! Once we got to our room, we saw a beautiful room with a wonderful view of the grounds. the rooms had a huge safe but no refrigerator or microwave. They did have free coffee and bottled water. We stayed for a week and ate dinner and breakfast everyday in the restaurant. The food was delicious and priced reasonably well. The highlight of our trip, besides the restaurant, was the free rum punches that were served from 1 hour in the afternoon, as well a well as the gorgeous pool. It has a bar in which a bar tender served us drinks while we swam. Another great thing was that the CASINO WAS A FEW STEPS FROM OUR ROOM!!! The beach was a private beach and it was a 3 minute walk from the hotel. We had a blast and loved the accommodations we stayed at. You certainly want to stay here!!!! The ONLY downsides were that without a car (which we did not rent) you cannot see much else or go anywhere else on this property or anywhere else to eat. You need a car to go to other restaurants and to see other sights. Also, the beach has crazy rip tides, so you have to be careful when you are in the ocean. We were in the water up to our waists and did not go too far out. Be careful!

Yelp
The room was great. No problems there. However, a band played music in the lobby until 1am. It was obscenely loud and obnoxious. The pool was cold and dark and the jacuzzi did not work. The restaurant and food on site is mediocre to say the best. The hotel is focused much more on the onsite casino than the paying customers staying there. My advice? Find a different hotel.

Yelp
I stayed here as a business traveler and I felt it was not worth the regular rate and especially after you add in all the various fees not included in the daily rate. The room was large, had a comfortable bed and had furniture like a couch desk but no fridge and microwave. I had a broken luggage tray, a thermostat that could not be adjusted and horrible noise insulation. I can be a light sleeper but the front door had a gaps and the doors slammed quite loudly which would wake me up. Also the windows were thin and on weekends I had a lot of trouble with the noise outside. Also if you have loud talkers in the room next door, you will hear their words clearly. Other issues that affected my stay: no breakfast vouchers or the $3 credit in the casino although my coworkers received them, high daily parking fee, excessive daily room fees (i am told it is a housekeeping fee that is charged even though I had no housekeeping for my stay (aside from the day I left the hotel), and lack of communication from the manager despite leaving 3 messages with the front desk over the course of a week (after 2 weeks I gave up). The location is nice with well maintained pools, beaches and grounds. Most staff can speak English and are generally nice. I had several issues with the staff at the restaurant though (lying about leaving a vmail to say my food is ready for pickup, autocharging 15% gratuity and phrasing the bill as if gratuity was needed, long times to receive food when dining in, and not being able to serve pesto sauce despite being an Italian restaurant. I come to this area of PR a few times a year and this is the closest chain hotel to the worksite. Unfortunately, I'll not be staying here anymore and will have to travel further just for a place to stay.

Yelp
This place has been worth the price. I got the all inclusive package off of groupon and considering the proximity to the beach and the restaurants it was a slam dunk. The staff is overly friendly and accommodating. The room was nothing special but the pool and the minute walk to the beautiful beach is what I wanted. The restaurants that came with all inclusive package were surprisingly very good. I have never been to PR before this but I am more than satisfied with my decision to stay here.

Yelp
If it was possible to not give any stars I would definitely not give any stars for this hotel. When checking in the valet cost $16 so that's not included in the all-inclusive Groupon or you can park yourself for $13. There's a few restaurants there all of them suck they are just downright awful. As soon as we checked in we decided to hit up the pool bar my fiancé ordered a shot cold they did not know what a chilled shot was.. Ok little language barrier no big deal. The staff smelled the bottles of liquor before serving them as if she was unsure what was in the bottle. We quickly got tired of the pool bar and decided to walk over to the beach since it's only about three minutes away as soon as we approach the beach there are signs everywhere saying dangerous do not swim and the beach was covered in a foot of seaweed and debris there is no way you could enjoy the beach whatsoever. Our room was up four flights of stairs and there is no elevator so keep this in mind. The view from our room was awful but we decided we wanted to stay as far away from the resort as possible. I honestly cannot describe how slow the staff was at every single facility located on the Wyndham. I'm so happy we rented a car and were able to get away every single day. I think I'll try to leave a review for each restaurant individually but they all are awful and if you ask anyone there for food recommendations they will tell you that their food is good... So good. Whenever I walked into the room I want to open up a dresser drawer pulled both the handles off then I decided shower pulled the handle off the shower, there were lights out in the room it was just not take care of it all.And don't forget to review your bill because you will be charged for random things and have to have them take it off.

Yelp
My husband and I arrived on the 19th to celebrate my 40th birthday. We walked right up to the counter at 1 PM and while we were worried we wouldn't be able to check in, there was no issue and they even carried our big bag up the 4 flights of stairs. The room was ok. Very comfortable king size bed, very modern and spacious bathroom, but the room decor was only so so and the balcony only had one chair. But we didn't let that stop us from having a blast - we were only in our room to sleep. The pool bar was great. At times, it was understaffed with Henry having to not only serve the patrons at the bar but also run and get the food ordered at the bar. When we first arrived, Henry was gone for almost 20 minutes. But the drinks were cold and when the younger bartender was there (Justin I think his name was), service was also amazing. We didn't noticed any slow service at Amalgada. Breakfast was always good and Jeremy made amazing omelets and pancakes. We had dinner there 2 nights and it was amazing!!! One night we went to the beach club and it was eh. Not impressed. Overall, this was a great trip. Henry and Pedro (I think that was his name at the lobby bar) were great. They were very friendly and very willing to make you their "speciality". I miss it already (especially since it snowed again this morning!)

Yelp
We spent 3 nights here and had a very good time. The hotel offers a very relaxing atmosphere and nice amenities. There are a few different restaurants to choose from and the resort has a lot of ground to explore.

Yelp
Staying at Club Cala and came a couple days ago... The pool costs $10 for members and $15 for non-members like myself per day... Also, came for dinner tonight and ordered the same $7 glass of wine as my boyfriend. They came in two different sized glasses and the Chardonnay was warm. Didn't stay for food!

Yelp
We had a really crappy 5 days here. At check in they couldn't find my room. It was 5 am and I just wanted to go to sleep (we have been flying all day long) he had us waiting about 30 minutes until he finally found one room for us. They have no elevators and we had to go up 2 sets of stairs with our luggage. (He didn't offer to help us) then we get up to our room to find out our hotel room key doesn't work because the battery in the door is broken so we went down again & told him & waited another 20 minutes for him to even find a new battery for the door he found one and then tried unscrewing the battery for 10 minutes finally got it and by that time it was 6:30 so we decided to go get breakfast since breakfast was from 6-11 and when we got there the doors were locked but someone came and opened them for us and the only thing set up was the fruit bar we then had to wait for 15 minutes more. The poool side bar is really really hard to get a drink or order lunch but the drinks are really good. I wouldn't come back to this hotel due to the fact I think it's over priced for the all inclusive I think we paid about $380 a night for all inclusive but the food was not all that great in my opinion.

Yelp
This is very sad because the location and the hotel itself is beautiful. The front desk is very incompetent. We paid for an ocean view but got a room with a partial view. They said they didn't have another room. Mind you I paid extra for the ocean view and they didn't reimburse me for this but instead said that my partial view room was the ocean view which obviously it wasn't. Moving on. The food was extremly expensive from the restaurant to the express deli counter where also the employees were very rude and fooling around and talking with each other all the time instead of being attentive to the customers. I would not recommend this resort, stay closer to old san juan, the beaches are nicer there as well. Guess you live and learn and let me tell you this was a lesson learned.

Yelp
The resort is gorgeous and we had the all inclusive package and it was great. The issue we had is that since we are not locals we got ignored constantly when trying to order food or drinks. The locals would get served first no matter how long we had been waiting. We sat at the pool bar for 15 min and never got greeted the bartender saw us sitting there but ignored us and would approach the locals and ask if they needed something so we ended up just leaving. It was a turn off for sure.....

Yelp
My friends and I did the all inclusive. This place is not terrible if you go with no expectations. The pool was nice, the grounds were well kept, and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is older and it needs some love. The room was a little musty and there is a serious need for remodeling. Some of the outlets in our room did not work and on the last night the toilet ran nonstop, loudly. The beach is rough, but pretty and there is nothing to do in this area. Plus, a cab ride one way from San Juan was $75! That adds up. The casino is fun and the bartenders are awesome. The drinks are made from pre-mixes, so they are pretty sugary and heavy. The food is awful. I was craving fresh fruits and veggies by the time our trip was over. If you want to just lay by the pool and do nothing else, then this place is for you. If you want to do excursions then you need to stay in San Juan, closer to everything. I don't feel like the all inclusive deal was worth it either. I would have rather visited other restaurants than eat less than fresh food.

Yelp
ITt is nice but a little thing is old and broken, but they have nice bed and hot shower. Good enough to get by for beach vacation. It is not gonna wow you but good place for rest.

Zayra A.

Yelp
Dissapointing. The service was really horrible... at every angle. The buffet bfast left much to be desired, cold eggs, no meat, warm juice. You can go to the concierge and they will tell you to google activities- And that's a half hour after waiting at the desk for whom ever is working there to arrive. At the rent a car, they can only do one thing at a time so you can wait 30 minutes just to be acknowledged. Oh, cold showers, dirty pool and a 20 minute wait at the pool bar for a nasty drink. If you are looking for some service, acknowledgement and be treated as a Client, this ain't your place.

Yelp
I am currently staying at this hotel as I write this. I must say, this is the worst service I have ever received from any hotel that I have ever stayed in. Though everyone here is nice, no one wants to work. The front desk has no clue as to what is going on here. It's as if no one wants to make money. I had to ask for refrigerator for an hour and now I am begging for Wifi in my room. After an hour and a half of waiting, the front desk is now telling me that they have to take care of it tomorrow. This hotel is not fully inclusive and everyone moves slower than the iguanas. I am very disappointed with the service and I wish I never book this hotel. I am so sorry that my family had to stay here. Stay away from this place unless you over 60 years of age. Straight up retirement home!

Yelp
Even though we prepaid for our room through Expedia, we had to pay over $100 in taxes and an extra charge for keeping our rental car in the lot across the street per day. Then we were told that our room wasn't ready yet even though we arrived about a half hour past check-in time. After around an hour of waiting we finally got our room along with 2 complementary drinks from the hotel bar, which was nice. The room was very spacious and clean. The pool was always very busy and chairs fill up quickly. Overall Palmas Del Mar is a beautiful area and I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Puerto Rico.

Yelp
Ladies Gentlemen I have to say that my stay here was absolutely terrible if you are from out of town do not stay here this Wyndham paints you the prettiest picture until you spend the first night there. I believe that the rooms have some sort of humidity problem, we went from one room to another and the same problem persisted. The two rooms that we stood in absorbed the humidity so much that it makes it very difficult to sleep look at the pictures we took so that you can see for your own eyes one room even had mold in the the bathroom door yes MOLD (ONGO) Ladies & Gentlemen and rust in the tub they are just waiting for a law suit to happen someone could get sick really bad staying here there's even pics here with mold on the beds so they are very well aware of the humidity situation, the floor gets so wet we had to hold on to the furniture sometimes so that we won't slip and fall the rooms where so humid even the bed sheets were wet go somewhere else I never had a problem in Fajardo inn & the Conquistador highly recommend those two. If you do decide to go here show this review or buy a dehumidifier which they don't even carry in the resort. It's a shame that Wyndham is such a respectable name but after staying here I'll be very aware conscious before stay on a Wyndham again. After seeing the pics people have posted I think there is enough evidence to place a lawsuit myself included i wonder how many people have left this place sick.

Yelp
My friend and I stayed here for three nights with an all-inclusive Groupon. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. First thing, we rented a car which cost $88 for the entire trip. You must bring proof of insurance with you. Totally worth it even though parking at the resort was $13/day. I would recommend leaving the resort in the morning, as there aren't many activities besides golf, walking along the beach or hanging at the pool. The rain forest was amazing. Our room opened on to the entry to the pool. We had a semi private outdoor area that was beautifully landscaped. It was comfortable and clean. No complaints on that front. Although, there's no wifi in the rooms, just in the lobby. They provide you with a lan cable, though. The pool is lovely and the ladies behind the bar did a fantastic job keeping our glasses full. The all-inclusive only applies to local beer and liquor, which was fine for us. The pool bar food was just fine. Nothing fancy but quite palatable. We only ate at two of the restaurant options. The one on site was pretty good. I've had all inclusive buffet food before, and this was far superior. Great mojitos and the mofongos were tasty. The coffee was excellent, too. We also ate at the seafood restaurant off site at the Beach Club. I quite enjoyed it. They have a lovely veranda for outdoor seating. The shuttle took no time at all. If you are looking for a beach vacation, you need to stay on the Caribbean side of the island. The beach here is narrow with very rough water. You can wade in, but swimming out is dangerous. One cool thing though: they had roped off a nesting area for sea turtles. The beach bar looked cool, but it's not included in the deal. The casino is a decent size. Just a few tables with a ton of slot machines. Overall, it was a lovely, quiet yet boozy vacation. The staff were all fantastic. I would stay there again.

Yelp
Staff is great! Very welcoming and will bend over backwards to help you. The restaurant staff is great too. Julio hoyos has been my server for my long stay and has been amazing. Helping me at every turn. I would highly recommend staying there and say hello to Julio!

Yelp
Went with my daughter for 4 nights for her birthday. Pros - room was clean, the casino was great and the dealers were excellent, the service at the lobby bar was top-notched (kudos to Erick who really took good care of us), the shuttle service was quick and the drivers were friendly. Cons - this is really in the middle of nowhere and when we checked in no one told us that if we needed a cab that we had to reserve it several hours ahead of time so we waited 90 minutes for a cab. It was interesting to learn from several cab drivers that they are not welcome within Palmas and that the Wyndham doesn't want its guests to leave the resort so they keep the cabs out in order to accomplish that. When we were waiting at the desk to see how long a cab would take, the 2 women working at the desk were saying some very mean things about us to each other in Spanish not knowing that my daughter could understand every word of what they were saying. This was more than unacceptable!!! The pool bar service was poor and the food served there was marginal. Pros about the area surrounding the hotel: the beach area was beautiful though we were not supposed to be able to use the chairs there since we weren't condo owners. Lucky for us, the policy was lax. The Bohio Beach Bar was really the best - live music, great bartenders, decent food and just a fun atmosphere!! This was our favorite part of our stay here. Make sure to paint your own sign while you are there. We went to 2 excellent local restaurants in Palmas - Pura Vida and Chihuahua. Both are worth visiting - great food and outdoor seating in the plaza. If we were to go to Puerto Rico again, we would stay closer to San Juan so that we could have enjoyed going there more. Due to the transportation issues, we only went one night.
