We booked this hotel in Grand Cayman for a last-minute trip using our timeshare points. Since most Caribbean hotels were already full, we were fortunate to snag a spot here after a cancellation.||As an avid snorkeler and free-diver, I was initially disappointed upon arrival. The beachfront in front of the hotel didn’t seem to offer much for snorkeling, which was opposite of what a few other reviews I had read suggested. The water had a lot of seaweed that smelled foul, and there weren’t nearly as many sandy, clear-water patches as the pictures suggested.||By the next day, conditions had improved—the seaweed wasn’t as heavy—but the clear, sandy spots on the beach still felt limited, especially compared to Seven Mile Beach. From what I learned, this side of the island tends to get more seaweed, particularly during the summer months.||That said, the hotel itself is on a quieter part of the island, about 45 minutes away from Seven Mile Beach. While shopping and restaurant options nearby are limited, the hotel’s on-site dining was excellent, and the peaceful setting was a nice change of pace. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making it more appealing to dine at the property rather than going out. Additionally, we arrived during the slow season, so many of the restaurants nearby were closed in preparation for the peak season that begins in November.||Overall, if you’re looking for a quiet stay with great food and don’t mind fewer sandy beach areas or a longer drive to the busier side of the island, this is a solid option.
