On the Grid : XeÔm Vietnamese

"If you like Vietnamese food, Xeôm is the perfect restaurant for you. For some reason there are only a few good street Vietnamese spots in Hamburg. Here the food is incredible, the atmosphere great, the staff sweet and the prices fair. They also do take-aways. Try their iced green tea, Vietnamese coffee or homemade lemonade! You simply can't do anything wrong here. It's "Pho" real!" - Cobblestone

In love their pho bo! Came here twice with friends and we tried different selections. The BTM was nice and a great vegetarian option. The fried spring rolls were amazing! Thick filling and very savoury with tangy dip. Very crispy! The bo bun hue was also nice! Generous beef topping and not too spicy as well. The winner was the pho bo! Broth was really deep and comforting! Sliced beef was also really fresh and good. For my fellow SEA spicy lovers, ask for fresh cut chilies.. man, it really elevated the broth! Oh, and the portions of each dish was quite big as well. My friends had some of their mocktails and they loved them! It’s cash only payment and tip is encouraged. Will definitely return for the pho bo 🥰.

The food was okay, nothing extraordinary. The Alsterwasser I ordered was almost lukewarm, which was not enjoyable at all on a sunny afternoon. To make matters worse, the service from one of the younger women was horrible. She was extremely rude and made me feel unwelcome. CASH ONLY!

Google
A real authentic experience with lovely food. Not an elaborate menu but everything is so delicious. Especially also some unique dishes from imperial hue.

Google
A popular choice, and I see why! The food is extremely tasty and the prices are reasonable. Sweet and professional wait staff and quick servings. I would have loved a chair with a backrest, but that’s just my lazy weak back.

Google
Very average food. The staff was extremely unfriendly, denying a polite request for a glass of tap water. Lazy bookkeeping, since the restaurant accepts only cash, despite waiters ordering food on high-tech devices... Overall simply a truly unpleasant establishment.

Google
Nice atmosphere and fancy decorations, which reminds me of the old Vietnam. The staffs are nice and helpful. I ordered a gỏi tôm, it was really sweet and not spicy as it should be, and the shrimps looked sad 😞 I also had a Bún bò and bún nem. Fish sauce in Bún nem was nicely done, not too salty but not too sweet. But I was really disappointed on Bún bò. It was missing many must-have ingredients (or they did not add much enough for me to really taste it). The restaurant was only cash, which I feel a bit inconvenient.

Google
Great Vietnamese food. Highly recommended.

Google
Taste is authentic to vietnamese cuisine. Some ingredients are missing in Bun Bo Hue, but it doesn’t change the taste. Smaller volume compared to other places and price paid. Plum lemonade was great.

Yelp
If you are in Hamburg you absolutely must come to eat here, since the food here is the best! The food is so freaking amazing, the prices are great, service awesome and the ambience was perfect. I wish they could deliver to Berlin haha! I crave their bowl of pho all the time.

Yelp
Started out with the pork+prawn spring rolls, very tasty, although oily. Tried the beef and chicken pho. The broth was ok, but had to add some Sriracha for a bit more flavor. The lemonades (traditional and raspberry) were nice presented and refreshing! Small space inside with tables close to each other, a wall covered with pictures from Vietnam and music playing in the background. The staff was very friendly, the food came quick, even though it was crowded. Wouldn't come back for the pho, but would definitely try more items from the menu.

Yelp
This is my first Vietnamese restaurant in Germany. It's a cute little restaurant with outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has metal dinning tables with small plastic stools reminiscent of restaurants in Vietnam (which I have just spent 3 weeks in prior to coming to Germany). The green tea is the traditional Vietnamese green tea that I love. I also had the shrimp spring rolls (summer rolls) that came with a fish sauce dipping sauce. The inside is filled with veggies and the very thin vermicelli noodles. Very tasty. I also had the beef pho. The usual hoisin sauce and the plate of vegetables on the side was not served with it like I am used to in other countries (US, Vietnam, etc) but the broth is very flavorful you almost don't need it. The beef is served medium rare over the boiling hot soup. It was kind of chewy but overall still good.

Yelp
I really love this place so much! Not only is the food really fresh and well done but also very creative. I had their large mushroom bowl with silk tofu and holy moly! As a person with Vietnamese background I can tell you that this dish was very refreshing and new for me! Service has been amazing and the interior is what I consider very contemporary for vietnamese restuarants: atmospheric and aspiring to re-create the streetfood vibe in Vietnam.

Yelp
The place is my personal Vietnamese heaven. Veggie soup is very tasty and filling. A delicate veggie broth, rice noodles, tofu and green vegetables - that is what you get as a vegetarian/vegan pho option for 7 euros. So worth the money! Another vegan option I can suggest is a noodle salad with tofu. It's very flavorful and refreshing, but ask about fish sauce in advance! Will come back for sure!

Yelp
So delicious!! The place has a great cozy atmosphere! Not sure if they take reservations as we walked in around dinner time and managed to get a table for 4 without waiting, but the place is packed! For cocktails, they make great Moscow mules and spicy mules so I highly recommend these to start! For our appetizer we shared the fried spring rolls which came out piping hot to our table! One order comes with 4 rolls so we each had one which was perfect! For my entree, I went with the dry noodle/salad bowl with beef. I don't remember the proper name of it but it was really delicious. The portion was a pretty good size but I could have eaten more....It's ok though as we ordered another round of drinks so that satisfied my appetite :) Will definitely return soon to try everything else on the menu!!

Yelp
The whole family checked out Xeôm the other week for my husband's birthday dinner, and everyone left very happy! As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with genuinely happy faces. Everyone was so nice, and the atmosphere was really cool. And the staff was beyond accommodating for a large group of people. The only reason I can't give this restaurant a full five stars is that my own food was not anything fantastic. However, I did try a couple of other dishes, and they were both delicious! Soo I guess it's hit or miss there. That said, I would definitely go back. :)

Yelp
I found the atmosphere to be very cool. The place was full. A friend and I from Canada have been on a mission to find awesome Asian street food. This place unfortunately did not deliver. We ordered the spring rolls to start. The filling was good but the spring was burnt. For our mains I ordered the chicken pho and I asked for extra veggies like in the veggie pho. The broth was ok. The noddles and veggies were also over cooked. My friend ordered the crispy noodles with beef and veggies. She liked her dish but didn't love it. I don't know if I would go back. My go to Asian street food is still Quan Do in the city! It's amazing !

Yelp
Ate dinner at Xeom based on the Yelp reviews. We showed up to a packed house and had about a 10 minute wait before being seated. We shared a table with two other diners in a corner of the restaurant. (Thankfully I'd read that sharing tables is common...) I ordered pho while my husband had curry chicken, and we shared spring rolls. The spring roll wrapper was a lot thicker than I am used to - I wonder if they're not available in Hamburg. The curry chicken was ok, but it had a strange smooth consistency like gravy, with big chunks of carrots, tomatoes, and potatoes. I was surprised to see tomatoes in the curry, but we ate them anyway. The pho was OK, definitely smaller portions than in the U.S., and less cuts of meat. I was given a lemon wedge whereas I'm used to receiving a lime wedge. There was also no mint leaves, beansprouts, or are jalapeño peppers... The table offered a bottle of sriracha, but no hoisin sauce. I was still hungry after dinner. Overall dinner was OK, but just not what I'm used to from the plethora of Vietnamese restaurants at home. Xeom is cash only.

Yelp
Great Vietnamese street food style restaurant with a cool vibe! Definitely try the Vietnamese ice coffee. Ask for the spicy vinegar if you need a bit more tang. Recommended!

Yelp
Greatest bun bo hue! Beefy broth with a little kick to it, but not too much. Comes with bean sprouts on the side. Yummy! If I lived here, this would be the place to get my fix. Skip the prawn spring rolls though, pretty boring and flavorless. Tra da tea good but a little pricy.

Yelp
Consistently embarrassingly poor service. Definitely not recommended. Food was very good, but the servers/staff were so incredibly bad. It wasn't even worth it. I can forgive rushed service, but running around like crazed lunatics and throwing attitude doesn't fly. Very disappointing. Lame. Just plain stupid.

Yelp
Visiting Hamburg for 6 days and we've decided to have dinner again at Xeom. Loved the food and service. Great food, atmosphere and a very fair price.

Yelp
Love this place ~ reminds me of street food in Asia. Great food, friendly staff, quick service, must try if you are looking for great Vietnamese food :0)

Yelp
全汉堡最好吃的pho! Best beef pho in Hamburg. Came at dinner time, the place is crowded with hipsters. The food was really really great, especially the soup in the pho. It has the rich flavor of beef, or in Chinese "鲜". I tried ice green tea this time, it is just ok, but my friends ordered lime ginger soda, she said it was good. Maybe try some other drinks next time.

Yelp
Mi Xao Gion was wig! Amazing. Def reco. She Pho Chay was shook. Also loved the spring rolls and the spicy glass noodle salad. Authentic decor too and friendly staff. Check it out. Also seems like most staff speaks English.

Yelp
I was in a rush and wanted to grab a quick takeaway for the train. The staff here was professional and helpful (in both English and German), and my Pho was done in 5 minutes! Everything nicely packed, very tasty, and proportion was perfect for the containers. Can't wait to eat in next time!

Yelp
This place is really great!!! All the food I've had here is excellent, and it's so nice to be able to get real Siracha sauce (the rooster and not the duck). Service is friendly and fast. They speak English really well, which I'm always happy to find, too! I heartily recommend dining here!!

Yelp
What a find -- Xeôm greets you with an interior that wants to put you in the middle of a street stall scene in Vietnam without overdoing it. I really wonder how they got the confused, curled wiring of the lighting past a German electrician! :) They serve a very limited menu, which obviously often helps quality. It certainly does so here - authentic, very tasteful, and reasonably priced too. Don't overlook the homemade drinks, but note that some are somewhat sweet, so ask ahead. Brilliant place that fills up quickly despite its location 'around the corner', for good reason!

Yelp
Keep coming back for the fried noodles and of course Vietnamese Ice Coffee! The restaurant can be very packed during lunch time or dinner time. I don't know if what they serve is authentic, but I'm pretty sure it's tasty!

Yelp
This is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Hamburg. Absolutely stunning authentic food. Super friendly staff, but unfortunately a lot of hipsters. Don't forget the vietnamese coffee afterwards..
google avatar

Erika G.

Yelp
great little restaurant in Karolviertel, right near the Messehallen U-Bahn station. gets crowded outside with hipsters, but don't worry; there's plenty of space inside in 2 rooms, wonderfully decorated with red hongbao envelopes and photos of people in Viet Nam riding their scooters with incredible amounts of cargo. the food is delicious -- it's not super duper authentic (for example the cha gio -- crispy spring rolls -- came without the usual fresh greens to wrap around the outside), but it tastes amazing. everything is fresh and very fairly priced. it's basically pho and bun, with your choice of protein (fish, beef, pork, tofu), although there is a curry rice option as well. friendly service and yummy drinks too. recommended!

Aleks T.

Yelp
One of the BEST Vietnamese in Hamburg. Very affordable and always tasty. Thumbs up!

Yelp
Really nice and cozy local! Staff was also really nice and friendly. Prices are ok, considering that the dishes are pretty big (we had four spring rolls as starter, and a pho, and I could have shared it with another person instead!).

Yelp
Very nice place, delicious food and super fast service. Ideally located if you are hungry after visiting a trade show opposite of the street.

Yelp
Simple and Lecker! Very nice service. We'll be back!

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, relatively good pho, yummy drinks, and prompt staff. Menu was in English so bonus!

Gabriella H.

Yelp
Very good Vietnamese food. Feels really genuin and has a cool vibe to it! The staff is always super nice and you get the food quickly after ordering no matter how busy the restaurant is.

Alison S.

Yelp
Went in and was offered a table which was so close to the couple beside us it was it possible not to listen to them or make eye contact. I asked instead if we could have takeaway, and was offered a less crowded table by the window. So we sat and ordered, and then a few minutes later they tried to again seat another couple at the same table as us. When we pointed this out, we were lied to and told that they informed us we would have to share a table, which was not the case. Very appalling customer service and won't be back.

Brandee C.

Yelp
The absolute best tofu pho I've had! Pretty sure their Stay Healthy tea knocked out this oncoming cold, too. Sweet staff, fun atmosphere, incredible food. We got 3 drinks, 2 entrees and an appetizer for €28!
