Xiamen University was founded by the patriotic overseas Chinese leader Tan Kah Kee in 1921. It is the first comprehensive university founded by overseas Chinese in modern China and is now one of the best universities in China.
The school has Siming, Xiang'an, Zhangzhou campuses and a branch in Malaysia.
Its campus is backed by mountains and faces the sea, integrating Chinese and Western architectural styles. The landscapes such as the Kah Kee Building Group and Furong Lake are known as the "Garden of Mountains and Seas" and have been rated as "China's Most Beautiful University" for many consecutive years.
Tourists can only visit the Siming campus.
Core attractions:
Furong Lake: The blue waves reflect the Songen Building, and black swans often cruise around, which is suitable for sitting quietly and watching the scenery.
Furong Tunnel: The total length is 1.1 kilometers, and both sides are covered with creative graffiti created by students, full of youthful atmosphere.
Qunxian Building Group: Xiamen University's earliest building complex, a combination of Chinese and Western styles, engraved with the word "Qunxian", carrying a century of history.
Jiannan Auditorium: A landmark building, adjacent to Baicheng Beach, with a distant view of the sea view of the Ring Island Road.
Tips for visiting:
Opening hours: It is open on weekdays, weekends and holidays. It is recommended to check the official announcement in advance. Foreign tourists can make reservations through WeChat with their passports, and the earliest reservation can be made 3 days in advance.
Recommended route: Enter from the West Gate → Qunxian Building → Furong Lake → Furong Tunnel → Jiannan Auditorium → Baicheng Gate, the whole journey takes about 3 hours.
