After reading these reviews we had to visit, and were sorely disappointed. Lackluster at best. The churros had no flavor… they dumped sugar on them as if that would make cardboard palatable. The hot chocolate was runny and tasted like a cheap hot cocoa mix. It lacked any depth of flavor or any richness. It’s not worth the money, calories or hype.

Google
Authentic Spanish churros!!! They are absolutely delicious , not too sweet. You can go for combos: churros + hot chocolate + water/soda/chips and etc. One serving is 6 pieces - and it is more than enough for one person. Keep in mind that this place is only for take out and you can’t sit anywhere.

Google
This little churro spot totally hits the sweet spot. The churros are fresh, golden, and perfectly crisp on the outside with a soft center—whether you go classic or filled, they don’t miss. The dipping filling is thick and rich, almost like a dessert on its own. Simple, cozy, and satisfying.

Google
Like everyone has mentioned, its a great churro place! Recommended from my hotel front desk. Ordered 2 orders of the 6 churros and chocolate. Didn't need the second cup of chocolate sauce and they didn't charge me. Also, they gave us a free churro for a little one. What made it stand out to me was their friendliness, honesty, and their genuinely graciousness. They totally DO NOT scam tourists! (or at least me when I went). For their karma, as I was walking back to my hotel with churros in hand, another tourist asked me where I got these from (they were also on the hunt as per their Google Maps) and I pointed them to this one! They really do know how to do business and they deserve all the stars.

Google
I came from China and staff here is friendly and nice, they are so kind! And the churros is amazing defo one of the best dessert I tried, thank you so much, big love ❤️

Google
Churros had a lovely crunch with a soft centre, but the flavour was quite bland without some icing sugar. 😌 Don’t reply on the chocolate sauce either, it was tasteless like those made out of cheap chocolate powder, sugar and thickener. 😟 San Churro back home has better chocolate dipping sauce which it is made from real couverture chocolate. 😏 Perhaps getting Nutella would be a better option, assuming it’s served straight from the jar…. 😗

Google
The hot chocolate was really thick and tasty, churros were also nice. Crispy yet not too hard, wonderful churros.

Google
Came across this shop that sells churros at Barcelona Old Quarter. The churros were still hot when they handed it to us. You can add your desired amount of sugar to the churros. Not bad.

Yelp
Ordered: 6 Churros + Cream Choco (~€5) Aya's take: We ran here 10 minutes before closing to grab an order of Churros on our first night out in Barcelona. This Xurreria is definitely no frills and quick service type of establishment. Despite being almost closing time (9pm), the churros tasted warm, fresh, and lightly coated with sugar. The Cream Choco elevated this even more. If you see this while exploring the streets of Barcelona, definitely stop by.

Yelp
Churros was something I had to get. I found this place that was not too far from the hotel. I ordered 6 and shared it with my friend. They were crispy and yummy. I should've gotten two orders instead!

Yelp
Obviously I had to come here since it was featured in Blackpink Jisoo's vlog! We came when they were making the churros so we got them hot and fresh. They even gave us some extras since we had to wait - which was so sweet. We ordered the 6 churros with chocolate. We also got them with sugar. The churros were so DELICIOUS. They were soft but crunchy. The chocolate was also not too sweet which I enjoyed. There was no place to sit so we did have to walk by a nearby park to enjoy the churros. Recommend checking this place out for churros!

Yelp
Hole in the wall place with authentic, flavorful churros and chocolate! Reasonable prices as well. Service was quick and ambiance was nice

Yelp
This is a friendly little store to pick up a quick cone of churros +/- a cup of hot chocolate to-go. There is no seating area so you have to take them to-go. There are many different fillings available for churros, like chocolate, cream, pistachio, lotus, or even ham! I opted for the plain churros as that's what I like. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and lightly dusted with minimal sugar -- just the way I like it. The best part is 6 plain churros is only 2.50 euros!
google avatar

Yelp
Tasted absolutely great! For me, it wasn't the sugar or the chocolate, but the texture. It was so chewy that it reminded me of Korean rice cake. The view of the street was amazing and the staffs were super friendly. By the way, they somehow spoke Korean pretty fluently. I guess a lot of Korean visit.

Yelp
3.5 stars Came here early, no line just one person in front of me. Got a caramel filled churro for 3€. It was crispy but not hot. They ask if u want sugar on it then sprinkle it on, but since it's not hot it doesn't stick to it just gets caught in the groves. The caramel filling was only completely filled at the ends, the inside was only half filled. Overall the taste was there and it was crunchy but could have been better if it was hot and filled all the way through.

Karen R.

Yelp
Churros was ok. But didnt like the chocolate dip, lacks richness. Tasted like milk chocolate. Didnt taste pure chocolate. You can actually tell just by looking at it.
google avatar

Mel Z.

Yelp
I thought I was not going to be able to try churros but glad I found this place through my walk to the hotel. They were fresh and the chocolate was delish to dip them in! They had bigger churros than you can have filled and other goodies, but the churros was what I went in for. They were fresh, crunchy, sugary and the chocolate dip sure hit the spot!

Yelp
There was a line when we arrived but it went by in like 5 minutes. I got the €4, 6 mini sized churros with a small cup of hot chocolate. The chocolate tastes exactly like thick hot chocolate. 5/5 My husband got a vanilla filled churro, and the vanilla was different than what we were used to. It tasted like it had additional spices. My husband rates 4/5. This was great after tapas. Downside there is no seating.

Yelp
Don't be scared of the long line, it goes by quickly. The churros w/ chocolate from here were probably my favorite from all the places I went to. The chocolate is just the right thickness and the churros are coming out fast and hot and crispy. Menu is small which is great because you know you're getting the best of the best. Before we came here we got a basket of strawberries from the boqeria and it was the best way to use up the leftover chocolate

Yelp
TLDR: A quick stop for a sweet snack. Solid. ___ Walking towards out hotel, we stopped in here for a quick snack. The gentleman behind the counter wasn't the nicest. When I asked the prices, he almost scoffed, and told me the price per weight. I asked how many churros come in that amount and he seemed frustrated. Sorry bro, I'm not from here. Any whoo....the churros were delicious, so I can overlook our brief encounter. Tiny shop. It's like...really tiny. Three people standing in here was already a crowd. Luckily it's super quick. I ordered, they dropped my churros to fry. They threw them in a paper cone....tossed in a few tablespoons of sugar, closed the cone and tossed it....then I was out the door. I chewed on the sweet treats on my walk, and they were still warm. Perfectly covered in sugar. Crunchy outside. Airy inside. Happy we stopped in.

Yelp
Our guide to a Tapas tour who is a pastry chef told us about this little gem. Her recommendation was that in her opinion it was the best Xurro spot in Barcelona. They close @8:30 pm so it isn't a after dinner spot. Per order you get 6 hot xurros and we ordered the hot chocolate ganache to dip it in. The chocolate is not too sweet, not too bitter, just perfect. After we ate all our xurros we drank what chocolate was left even though not a drinking chocolate. Could let it go to waste!

Cristina O.

Yelp
The churros here are nice and crispy and not at all greasy. I asked them to hold the sugar so they were more authentic. The hot chocolate was a little sweet for my taste; they also used milk chocolate and I prefer dark chocolate. But it was still a tasty snack.

Yelp
Great plain churros along the tight streets of the gothic district Chocolate filled weren't as fresh/tasty.

Yelp
When my friend gave me dining recommendations for my family's trip to Barcelona, I was super excited to see a place for churros. We love churros, our fave being from Disneyland where we easily eat a couple of churros a day...each. After walking back from La Sagrada Família, I spotted a churro shop called Xurreria La Sagrada Família and assumed it was a sister shop to the one that was recommended: Xurreria dels Banys Nous. I thought, how lucky as it was on our way. We bought a couple of filled churros and while I thought they were decent, I wasn't super impressed which made me start to wonder if I had gotten it wrong. Sure enough, "xurreria" just means churro shop and the two churro shops were not related. Xurreria dels Banys Nous was just minutes away from our hotel so my daughter and I made a churro run and oh my delicious goodness, we were beyond impressed. And dare I say it? Yes, the churros were more magical than Mickey's. They were fresh, hot, and made our mouths tremendously happy. My daughter finished her two chocolate covered churros before we got back to the hotel, but we saved a couple of original churros for my son. My husband was sleeping so he missed out, but he woke to rave reviews and so the next morning we returned to our favorite xurreria. This time, we tried the churros with a chocolate dipping sauce. The chocolate was more like a pudding texture, but was very tasty! Cash only

Yelp
My wife and I found this xurreria about five years ago while in Barcelona celebrating our engagement, and we were hooked at first crunchy bite. So it was top priority to get more when we landed in Barcelona recently. Thankfully they were open and the churros were as good as we remembered! It's cuz they make them fresh, like drop 'em right in the oil as soon as we order. Then they ask about sugar, which I always ask for only a little b/c then it's just as savory as sweet. They're perfect...crunchy on the outside, airy on the inside. Not too bready at all. Guy working there is friendly enough, can be chatty sometimes or too busy other times. No problem with that. They do offer a bunch of other churros, even stuffed ones, and some other snacks, but we keep it simple with the classics. The best.

Yelp
So insanely amazing that I went here twice during my week in Barcelona! First off, this place is nestled in one of the charming, yet super narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter, so pay attention to your google maps or you could easily miss it! Secondly, this place is cash only. Thirdly, be prepared for taste bud heaven! Lol! On to the churros! Honestly, their Nutella churro might be the single best pastry I've ever had in my life! Such a flavor overload! The churro itself is sweet, but not too sweet. And the texture is the perfect blend of crunch and chewyness. And you throw in the Nutella, and that's the knockout punch, lol! I had the biggest smile on my face while eating it, and I've been daydreaming about it ever since I got back home to the States, lol. I wound up coming back a few days later and tried the creme one. It was really good, but not nearly as epic as the Nutella one. Basically, if you're in Barcelona, come here, and come here multiple times!
google avatar

Dana M.

Yelp
AMAZING. This does not need any further explanation. Seriously... churro with nutella in the middle. O.M.G... you dont know true happiness until you have one of these. **Cash only**
google avatar

Anita A.

Yelp
Regular churros have a bit sweet taste in the dough which is different from other places I've tried. Chocolate covered churros are great. Churros are a bit chewy I guess because it's not as fresh as the plain ones. Dark chocolate isn't too sweet. Perfect for sweet tooth. Churro stuffed Nutella - lots of people said it's to die for. I don't think it's for me. The churro itself was bigger. Nutella filling was pretty stuffed and they weren't being stingy about it. But I felt like the churros weren't as hot as crispy. It might be too big or smthg. I don't know what it is. But I know if I ever get a chance to go to Barcelona again, I'm coming here for the regular churros!
google avatar

Rylan C.

Yelp
Probably the best churros in Barcelona. So much variety and very fresh. With that said, their hours are pretty sporadic. I wouldn't rely on their listed open hours. However, if you do happen to get there when they are actually open, I would buy ALL THE THINGS! It's fried bread. Why wouldn't you want to eat that?! This place is definitely a place I go to whenever I visit Barcelona (one of my favorite cities).

Yelp
When: Thursday at 6pm Party Size: 2 Nutella Filled Churro: 10/10 This thing was so warm, crispy, and covered in sugar. You bite and it's a burst of Nutella heaven. This cost 2 Euros. Service: 10/10 The line can get long in a matter of minutes because it's a popular spot, but it moves very quickly and they are constantly churning out churros Overall: 10/10 My favorite churros all trip right off of Las Ramblas
google avatar

Ping F.

Yelp
Saw this hole in the wall looking place while wandering the gothic quarter after dinner. Zoomed in on the TripAdvisor stickers, the crème fired churros and chocolate dipped churros and promptly went in. I was there near closing time so there wasn't many choices. Since I have had hot chocolate dipped churros everyday for breakfast at the hotel, I went for the crème filled churro. The churro was much larger than I expected! There was so much crème inside. It tasted like a vanilla custard with some spices. It was lukewarm but still crispy, not oily with a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar. At $2euros it was decently priced. I've seen mush more expensive and boring options walking down La Rambla. The next time I'm in the city, I think I'll just go for the plain bag of churros with cinnamon sugar.
google avatar

Grace C.

Yelp
We went about 2pm and they are supposed to close at 2:30pm for the afternoon. We still got served hot, pretty fresh churros from their food heating lamp area. We opted for the xurros amb chocolat, which was about 3,50 Euros -- it came with 6 churros and a styrofoam cup of hot melted chocolate (not crazy sweet) for you to dip your churros in. It was tasty but I wish the chocolate had been sweeter. There's no seating in this tiny shop so you just buy and go.
google avatar

Yelp
I read the reviews here and saw a vlog on YouTube and I wanted to try this place. I'm on the Keto diet but I didn't care. The Nutella churro was the one I wanted to try. When we walked up and the line was pretty long out the door and down the small street. The book store next door did not like the people lined up in front of her store and she brought out some saw horses with sign that say not to block her door. She must really hate this place being next door to her shop. When we got to the front my boyfriend noticed a sign that said 'Cash Only'. He told me he didn't have any Euros. I told him, "I will cut you!" Of course he was kidding. He knew how bad I wanted to try these churros. After about 10 minutes we got to the front of the line and we decided to order the vanilla custard filled churro, the Carmel filled churro, and the Nutella filled churro for 2€ each. They were all delicious. Did not disappoint. Other places have churros but these filled ones are a little hard to find around here. Some other places have plain ones that you can dip in a hot chocolate sauce but I wasn't wanting to cheat on my diet with those.
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Warm. Sugary. Chocolatey. This equation will always lead you to pure bliss. The only obstacle you'd face is the long line or the minimal selection due to shortage in supplies. If you snooze, there won't be much left. So don't play bashful and while you're at it order one or two extra churros with different filling. I know nothing of nutella but yet I was dying to have it and boy did it satisfy! It was the perfect ratio to the churro and the slight warmth melted the cocoa without obnoxiously oozing out on the sides with every bite. Take a stroll with a churreria in one hand and inhale the experience.

Vivian W.

Yelp
Best churros with chocolate we found in Barcelona. The chocolate was just the right thickness. Churros were hot and fresh. We've tried several other places and this was the best!
google avatar

Michael U.

Yelp
A cash-only outlet located in the Gothic Quarter it was after a pleasant stroll around Museu Picasso that a visit was made to Xurreria dels Banys Nous, the store a highly focused operation offering only their namesake item and savory Chips including Cheese Puffs and Pig Skins with nothing on the menu more than €2.50. Originally opened in 1968 and still under the same ownership, two men working on this particular day with one frying towards the back and another using limited English skills to make sales to a largely tourist population, it was after a quick assessment of the goods that a total of €4.20 was exchanged for two small bags, one of them already cool to touch but the other hard to handle with such a thin layer of paper between hands and freshly fried Dough. Walking and talking while the Churros cooled slightly, each curl soon discovered to be a bit thicker than others in town with just a bit too much residual Oil beneath Granulated Sugar, it was nonetheless with all four enjoyed that attention next turned to a thicker version with an enlarged cavity piped full of Caramel, the same texture marring the Pastry itself though the filling was slick, sweet and as good as any tasted in Spain to date.

Samia89ab ..

Yelp
Most Delicious churros in Spain. Very nice and kind employees loved the service! Worth waiting in line for. Delightful ambiance.
google avatar

Yelp
CHURROS!!! Churros churros churros!!! They are a small little shop. The churros are only 1.20 euros. The churro was light and fluffy but had a crispy crunch. I love the tiny u shape. Easy to hold in your hand. They were not oily. I got it with sugar. If you want freshly made churros, stop by Xurreria!
google avatar

Derrick C.

Yelp
These are definitely of the best churros I have ever had. We got the Nutella filled and the creme filled ones. The creme filled ones were okay if the Nutella ones were so good that we came here twice for them. We came here off of a friend's recommendation. I'd recommend coming here too! Side note from what I remember this place only takes cash.
google avatar

Annette M.

Yelp
Don't expect an American churro taste. We were a bit surprised to find plain churros with very lightly sweetened chocolate for dipping. They were okay. Not exactly my thing though. I much prefer a chocolate croissant for my morning chocolate fix. I did dream of a sugary cinnamon covered churro with melted chocolate before we came. Maybe a new thing for the US?
google avatar

Noelle H.

Yelp
So I've had a few churros in my lifetime, but not enough to call me an expert on. However, the ones from here were drool worthy. Not greasy or heavy. And then you get the hot chocolate to dip it in?!?! Talk about a match made in heaven. Xurreria is in a small street, but wasn't too hard to find. There was a small line but it goes quick. Prices are cheap! Be sure to stop by for a piece of heaven!
google avatar

Brittany N.

Yelp
I love churros! We found this place because of Yelp and it did not disappoint. You are not able to sit there, it is a small walking shop. They offer various types of churros for a good price. We got the dulce de leche, which was a thick churro filled with what tasted like Nutella. We also got chocolate covered churros which did not taste like I expected them too. They had a taste I had never experienced before, and Iiked them more with every bite. We went back a second time to take some churros to go to hopefully eat them the next day. Warning, they do not last until a second day. All of the oil sealed out and soaked the bag. Overall, the location was great, the churros we're great, and the service was great. Would definitely come back here!
google avatar

Von A.

Yelp
If you come here in the afternoon after thier siesta time closure, you'll more likely get an old room temperature batch (from the morning sales) of churros vs 'pipping hot' ones as some have described. So - I came back and lurked outside and waited for a fresh batch to be released. Finally - i got a pipping hot churro which was amazing!
google avatar

Jonathan V.

Yelp
Went with the churros and chocolate special. The guy asked if I wanted sugar added to the churros, and I said yes. Cup of chocolate reminded me of chocolate pudding, but with a thinner consistency. Very tasty while walking the streets of Barcelona.
google avatar

Lily C.

Yelp
Best churros ever. We went there practically everyday. 1,30 euros for 100 grams - about 5 pieces. These were so good no sugar is needed. Tried the regular ones with the hot chocolate as well as the filled type. The plain ones still beat them all. Again, Anthony Bourdain knows his sh*t....
google avatar

Lissan C.

Yelp
Please this place is so overrated! The churros were okay but the chocolate dip was disgusting! They definitely add cornstarch in their chocolate dip to give more volume and thickness but it tasted horrible. I ended up eating the churros by itself and it was forgettable. I checked other churros places, they were all overrated by tourist for sure. I get better churros in the US period.
google avatar

Kati H.

Yelp
The best churros in Barcelona. Not oily - what is very, very rare! Fresh, hot, with bit of sugar. Grab a portion for 1,2€ or a nutella filled one!
google avatar

Connie L.

Yelp
The best churros we had in Barcelona! Crispy, not too oily, right balance of sugar. Dirt cheap. Like dirt dirt cheap. €1.20 for 100g, about 5, and more than enough for one person.
google avatar

Yelp
David Chang on "Ugly Delicious" said one of the most poignant foodie philosophies: a truly great restaurant is when, immediately after leaving, you start thinking about when you can come back next. During my stay in Barcelona, the only place I've been to that has lived up to this standard was what my husband and I affectionately call "Xurro Grandma's". Xurro Grandma is a lovely little elderly lady who serves you your amazing xurros and the shop has been open for 50 years. I mean, that enough tells you that it's good. Come for the amazing stuffed xurros with choices of nutella, dulce de leche, or crema stuffing. I know the traditional is chocolate with xurros but the stuffed ones were great. We got 2 of each and because the dough is so thick and fluffy they tasted great even after coming out of the fridge the next day. Carry on, Xurro Grandma...

Yelp
This is a small hole in the wall with the best smell of freshly made churros coming from within. I went very early with a few of my friends and wanted to make sure wherever we went it was as close to authentic as I could find so last minute. The Xurreria did not disappoint, it has that look of being around for many years. The men working behind the counter were very helpful and warm. I went with the traditional bag of fresh plain churros with the very rich hot chocolate to dip them in. I couldn't stop eating them, not overly sweetened and the churros were crispy and hot. My friend ordered very unassuming dark chocolate dipped churros and honestly they were amazing! I had to go back in and order them as well. The filled churros are also very good but they fill it generously with a pastry cream so get ready to indulge. I definitely recommend stopping here for either an early morning dessert with your coffee or a midday pick me up sweet treat. Honestly any time of the day would be good! They are so inexpensive that you can buy the lot, although I do encourage sharing because you get a bang for your buck.
google avatar

Deb W.

Yelp
Delicious place for churros! Because they're always so busy, they constantly have fresh churros. I was lucky enough to get a fresh batch that was still piping hot. I ordered both the Nutella cream churro and the churros dipped in hot chocolate. I would not recommend the churros filled with cream, as it is not fresh and there is way too much cream inside. Get the fresh churros and dip them in the hot chocolate!
google avatar

Evgene L.

Yelp
This is a great stop in the alleyways of Barcelona. Fresh fresh and sooo tasty! They make everything on the spot so its a show as well ;) Get your churos while they hot and don't forget to get the hot chocolate cup to deep them in. Oh and the price is ultra cheap.
google avatar

Denysis R.

Yelp
WOW WOW WOW. No place better than this. We tired Chocolatería San Gines en Madrid and talk about overrated. But Xurreria is amazing. Great value, fresh and excellent t service. Really Best of the Best
google avatar

Valeree Y.

Yelp
Okay, wow! This place was everything I was waiting for in Barcelona. Stuffed churros with strawberry, Nutella, or dulce was the best! Yes, you can still order the same churros with chocolate but really don't pass up those stuffed ones! Buy one and split it (it's a lot of Nutella!) super crunchy and just what you want after lunch. Do check the times!!! They only open during weird hours.
google avatar

Victoria K.

Yelp
Churros were great, but the chocolate was my favorite, pure melted goodness, dark and bitter just the way I like it. Hope they stay in business another 100+ years
google avatar

Kay N.

Yelp
This little small shop can be missed on the street but luckily as we walked up, there was a long line of people trying to get churros. I end up getting the standard most popular choice which was churros with melted chocolate. I was so surprised how not too sweet the churros were. I was hesitant to agree when the cashier asked if I want sugar on top of the churros but it was the best choice. The melted chocolate isn't that sweet either. I am so used to American chocolate that I forgot how none sweet it is outside of U.S. I also ordered the chocolate covered churros which I thought was meh. Skip it and just get the fresh churros with melted chocolate!
google avatar

Ger K.

Yelp
Thick chocolate with the perfectly fried freshly cooked churros. There is no place to sit and the place can get very crowded. Service was fast and the staff was friendly. The churros is served in paper and the chocolate comes in a styrofoam cup. It is hard to find and there are several others in the area. This one seems to be the more popular one due to tripadvisor and yelp reviews, I guess.
