The hotel is situated right in the Town and is a perfect location. It has recently been taken over and I would say that it was a lovely hotel. The room we had was huge and the bed was so comfy. Everywhere was very clean. Great breakfast and a warm and welcoming reception from Vicki and Gwynfor who couldnt have been more helpful. Great stay. Thanks

We stayed here 7 years ago and loved it. Encouraged by Tripadvisor's 5 star rating we booked a return visit hoping for more of the same.|Sadly the recent change of ownership and management means it has lost its appeal.|Perhaps I should have taken more heed of the very modest pricing, but the requirement to pay upfront gave them a chunk of our cash for some months on which to earn interest.||The bed in our peaceful rear room is still comfortable and the bedding and towels just as clean, but things are showing signs of wear and tear: the carpet had drip stains; the bedroom mugs are tea stained; there are no toiletries for the wash basin; the hot water is plentiful but the plumbing somewhat haphazard; and while the bed was re-made daily the fruit-tea bags were not replenished.||The staff are trying hard to make a success of it but the fact that they had not prepared sufficiently for our agreed 8.30am breakfast was not good enough:|our orders got confused; the toast came well ahead of the meal and was made from cheap bread; we had to ask for marmalade; the butter was a spread; they could not provide real coffee until our third day (the cafetières contained instant coffee! ) and only then after we had specifically requested it, and even then having asked for it to be strong it was not. By day 4, when we had supplied them with a bag of coffee, we finally got a good strong coffee.||Our breakfast experiences deterred us from sampling their dinner offerings as other places in town held greater appeal.||Staff are friendly and I wish them well, but I am not convinced that they appreciate what the standard of a Tripadvisor 5 star hotel looks and feels like. Time will tell - and hopefully further reviews will be more encouraging.

I have just experienced the worst service I have ever had. We arrived at 7.20pm and placed our order at about 7.30pm. I ordered salmon, new potatoes, asparagus and a creamy white wine sauce. My partner chose roast chicken. The lovely young waiter explained that the chef had run out of new potatoes. We were offered 3 other type of potatoes and chose sweet potato fries. So far so good. We then waited and we waited…. The young man serving us was very apologetic for the delay and did everything he could to let us know that they were having problems in the kitchen - the usual chef had gone off sick, so the owner had stepped in to cook! He also said that the restaurant had only just re-opened etc. No problem. We waited…and waited….and waited… We then went inside because we were getting a bit cold. We overheard conversations in the kitchen which made us feel uncomfortable. After numerous apologies, our food arrived at 9.15pm!! The food took 1 and 3/4 hours to arrive! I could have cooked these 2 meals 3 times over in this time. There were only about 6 people outside during the whole time we were there and we were told there was a family of 4 inside. When it arrived, the salmon and fries tasted good BUT….there was no sign of any asparagus or creamy white wine sauce, just some very over-cooked broccoli and disgusting, watery, tinned carrots. We were told by the waiter that we only needed to pay 1/2 price for our meal and drinks which was a relief… We paid this and then I asked to speak to the chef (apparently also the owner…) Initially he wasn’t willing to come but I asked again and he came. I calmly told him that I had not experienced such slow service ever… I then made him aware that I hadn’t received any asparagus in white wine sauce as written on the menu… (I didn’t complain about the quality of the vegetables I was given.) What really upset me was when the owner/chef started to try to blame the young waiter for this! The owner/chef tried to tell me that it was the hotel’s “policy” that the waiter should have explained to / given me a choice about what I wanted… I felt really annoyed at this point because I felt this man was taking absolutely NO responsibility for: a) the exceptional long delays b) the missing ingredients c) providing me with only 1/2 of the meal that I had actually ordered. This owner/chef kept trying to pin the blame on his young and very patient staff member. I really cannot recommend eating here. What we experienced here was more than teething problems of a newly opened restaurant. There was a complete lack of respect by the owner/chef towards his own staff and towards me as customer. I have never experience anything like this before.

Upon arrival we informed the hotel that we would be arriving late to which the easily accommodated suggesting the key safe which when we did arrive was easy to locate and use. Park is available at the co-op 2-minute walk down the road for £6 the whole weekend. The beds were super comfortable, top-quality duvet and pillows. Tasty breakfast, all tasted fresh! The staff (owners) were highly informative and friendly nothing felt a hassle. Location was cute, lots of local pubs! Snowdon is an hour away however it was nice to stay in a local area rather than tourists.

What a find…from my phone call to book our stay to the moment we departed, we felt cared for. I slept so well, woken up with such good coffee (bags) in the room, made by hubby! The breakfast (I’m veggie) was so so very good, cooked to order and piping hot too. ( I don’t eat breakfast in hotels as I’m always disappointed). The owners were always helpful and pleased with any information we needed. Don’t hesitate to book.

The two male owners are the most delightful people; friendly, efficient & welcoming hosts. The ambience is first-class, & breakfast was fantastic. This is a gem. Parking is tricky, but with some jockeying can be accomplished quite easily. We had a brilliant stay there.

A very comfortable and nicely furnished hotel. The room was spacious with a large bed, good quality linen and towels, as well as bath robes. The breakfast menu was varied, containing the usual full meal, but also tasty options of pancakes or salmon. Ideal location in the centre of Dolgellau.

One of the most beautiful b&b I've ever stayed in. Stunning building in perfect location, walking distance everywhere. No car park, but there's long stay cat park in about 4 minutes walk. The owner of the hotel is going above and beyond for his guests. Room was ready early so we could check in few hours before checking in time, more time to use for exploring. Beautiful, spacious room. Literally spotless. Attention to details was on point. We have had everything we needed in our room including bathrobes and water bottles. Easy access to the room and room keys, great communication with the owner. Breakfast in the morning was beautiful. So many positions to choose from. Perfectly cooked with high quality products. Can't praise enough. Top class

A destination for dinner in Dolgellau! Exquisite food and incredible hospitality! The Welsh Beef was to die for and the Lamb, well, unbelievable! Only 10 tables so plan early!

This is a pleasant place to stay. Not cheap but of high quality. Breakfast is excellent with a great choice but slightly stingy with toast. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The rooms have freeview and a DVD player. Free WIFI is available.
