I came here for dinner and there was no one else in the restaurant, but everyone else is missing out by not coming here! I am obsessed with momos, and the Yak and Yeti definitely did not disappoint! I got the entree of momos, garlic naan and some lamb appetizer to split with my dad (sorry I have early onset dementia and can’t remember the name!) and it was the perfect portion size because we both finished everything and were the perfect level of fullness. I’ve had momos before, but this restaurant has a signature sauce that they serve it with that makes them to die for! I could probably drink the sauce by itself! The naan was addicting, and not too much of a strong garlic taste. Everything was warm and delicious, served with tamarind and (cucumber?) chutney. I’m not sure but one of the chutneys was green and it was absolutely delicious. I even used the cabbage garnish as a vessel to eat the sauce, it’s that good. I would definitely recommend coming here. I almost forgot! I got samosas too and they were huge!!! But very good and filling :)!

Google
This is not the place if you are looking for authentic north Indian flavor. The food was pretty bland, kinda americanized. We had ordered tandoori mushrooms, tandoori lamb and chingmo for appetizer. All the very bland. For the main course we got two entrees - chole and one more. Those were not good as well. We ended with their tea which was overly sweet.

This is our favorite spot in Anchorage. Once you go, you will be craving it, often. Good, hot, affordable, flavorful, authentic eats for everyone- Veg, GF, etc! My wife and I love sharing an app and naan, before the heaping entree of momos. So happy we found this place.

Food was great, service was great. Definitely would go back again.

Wow we loved the meal and appetizers. Combination meal had enough for 2 people and was very tasty. Also glad for a vegetarian samosa.

Very clean and simple place. Food seems more authentic Nepalese food than the other restaurant. Simple and delicious flavor. I would recommend this place certainly.

Google
We love the Palak Paneer and get it regularly. I’m always torn when I visit Yak & Yeti because the Nepalese dishes are wonderful but the dessert dishes are amazing. Especially the Moreo. This could definitely be a desert destination point in itself.

We tried some unique foods that were delicious 👌 great place for a fun date night.

Yelp
I've been to both Yak and Yeti locations in Anchorage and this is more the family-style option of the two (the other is a build-your-own-rice-bowl type of deal). My family and I came here twice during our trip to Anchorage since they have reliably good food at a great value. I got to try their Himalayan chicken, Palak Paneer, Chicken Achari, and Lhasa Momos. The flavor of everything is great, and the family favorite for us was the Palak Paneer. So much flavor and super rich. The flavors of the Achari and Himalayan chicken were good too, although the chicken was a little dry. The Lhasa Momos were delicious as well (and each dumpling is pretty big). We placed orders for takeout and everything is ready pretty quickly!! With super friendly service too. Parking situation: on-site

Yelp
After reading all kinds of rave reviews and seeing that people said this place was better than Bombay, I had to check it out. All I can say is whoever chose this place over Bombay has some weird taste lol. My food was piled on a plate, and tasted terrible. It was like someone dumped a pile of chili powder on some chicken and cream sauce and called it Himalayan food. It was so bad that I ate about 4-5 bites, hoping to acquire a taste for it but nope. I couldn't do it. This place might be for other people but it's sure not for me.

Yelp
Wow! I ordered through Grubhub and got the tikka masala hot and the garlic naan. Soooo delicious, the perfect amount of spice I like. The portions were definitely worth the money. This will be 2 meal atleast for me. I will definitely eat at this place again. Highly recommended atleast for take out.

Yelp
I wanted to give a lot to this restaurant, but I can't. I ordered several favorites, and I could not get beyond the dirty rice taste. This rice is NOT being washed before it's cooked. I make rice regularly including basmati. The rest of the dishes were not even worth taking home. It's a shame because the staff is very kind. I'm more disappointed than fussy. I might revisit in a year and see if it is better.

Yelp
So I finally made it to the original Yak & Yeti, and I have to say, I like it less than the Yak & Yeti cafe. The food is a better value at this location, but it isn't nearly as nice inside as the cafe. It's very cramped and dated looking. Their parking lot was full, so I parked across the street and prayed I wouldn't get towed. The food was good, but nothing special. My samosas were tasty, but way bigger than they needed to be for an app. By the time my food came, I was too full to really enjoy it. I got the dal, which was very runny. It had more delicately flavored than I was expecting as well. Not exciting. At all Service was excellent, which is the only reason for 3 stars. Food was unmemorable. I might go back for 2nd try someday, but not anytime soon.

Yelp
Usually get the yam tiki masala and a sesame seed cookie. My son loves their egg salad and potato soup it has huge chunks of potato I have to cut up for him lest he spud then across the room pretty woman style. Years ago had an eggplant dish there that haunts me still it was so tasty. Never seen it again but ever hopeful.

Yelp
Got takeout tonight, and boy were we impressed! All meals were fantastic and the garlic naan and pickles were especially notable!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places and a must when flying in to Anchorage from the village. I would crave Indian food and this would hit the spot. Everything I have tried has been pretty amazing. Plus it's such a fun name.

Karin H.

Yelp
We had one night in Anchorage as we awaited our flight home and so I took to Yelp to find a place to eat. We had spent most of our trip in Homer so, while we really like seafood, we were looking for something a little different. I came upon this place it had good reviews, not to mention a pretty cool name. It is a total hole in the wall kind of place and the food lived up to the reviews. We started with the samosas and chicken tikka appetizers. I really liked them both, but enjoyed the samosas in particular. For entrees we both had the Chicken Vindaloo, mine medium, his hot. I'm not sure if they got the plates backwards or not, but my medium was mighty spicy, so I can only imagine what the hot was like. The flavor was good, but if that truly was medium spice I am glad I didn't go my usual medium plus. The naan was also very good. Portions and prices were both good. If we lived in the area this would fast become one of our go to places, but alas, that was likely my only Yak and Yeti experience.

Yelp
I am shocked this has any positive reviews. Shows that people in Alaska are clueless about Indian food. Most disturbing and disgusting chicken tikka masala ever. Rice was yellow and white and hard. Nothing to drink non carbonated. Horrible service. Hair and dirt in water glasses. The chicken tikka masala smelled like it was cooked in refried beans and tasted like it too. Waste of time and money do not go here and anyone who thinks this is acceptable delusiona.

Malini A.

Yelp
Overall average food, a little overpriced. It has a combination of Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan food and has a vast menu comprising We tried their Tingmo (Tibetan) which had 2 steamed buns. The menu said is served with mint chutney and Yak and Yeti hot sauce. They only gave the hot sauce. Did not like these as they had no taste to it. We asked for the mint chutney which they brought out but it resembled more of mint in yogurt dip. For the main course we had the chicken tikka masala and their dal bhatt. The Dal and chicken dish were both okay. We requested for mild spice level which they accommodated. Did not find the food flavorful enough. For breads they just had 3 choices - plain naan, garlic naan and the tingmo. We tried their plain as well as e garlic naan but both were just average. Service was fast and efficient. There were only two servers and both were constantly busybetween the different tables. The interior is very casual with few tables and looked dated. Even the exterior looks run down. A very average experience, nothing extraordinary. Did not go back to this place in our trip as other options were available.

Alex S.

Yelp
On a recent visit, I tried a vegetarian menu Item: the Dehra Dun Channa Masala (Indian) which is Garbanzo beans stewed in a spicy curry. Served over rice, with Raita. The portion size was substantial. My critique of the meal would be of the rice - entrees should be served with basmati rice - not traditional white rice. I believe Namaste Shangra -Li serves there entrees with Basmati. In any case, the Channa Masala wasn't half bad.

Yelp
It's been over 2 years since I'd eaten here, and wanted to give it another shot (last time it was bland). My husband and I decided to go for dinner, and dined in. We are very familiar with both Indian and Himalayan food. We got there right at 5:00 (when it opens for dinner). At first, we were ignored while a larger table, who came in after us, got to order. We ordered the Tingmo for an appetizer. We both liked this - it was good, had a little flavor, and reminded us of Chinese bao. For our meals, we ordered the Spicy Goat Curry and the Lamb Curry (which says Indian style). We also ordered a garlic and regular naan (note: it's always a flag when you have to pay EXTRA for a naan - naan should always come with a meal). My lamb curry did not taste anything like an Indian style lamb curry should taste. It was quite bland, and very disappointing. My husband's spicy goat curry was not "spicy", but it did have better flavor. It was not hot AT ALL. The worst thing about this meal is that over 50% of the goat in it was bones. Yes, it says there are bones, and we've had goat with bones MANY times before, but this was ridiculous - you should've have it in 100% of the bites you take, and the bone portion should not be GREATER than the meat you get. There was, in fact, hardly any meat in this meal. A total rip-off. This meal was so disappointing, that we ended up going to one of the other 3 Indian-type restaurants in town the next day, to make up for this experience. The service, the appetizer, and naan were ok. Definitely would not recommend anyone coming here. Should have listened to Spurthi.

Yelp
Hubby and I both ordered the spicy pork. It was so tender and perfectly spiced. Service was fast and friendly. Great value for the money. The baked mushrooms were good but ordinary just as the beef dumplings. I enjoyed the strawberry lassi. I'd get it again.

Sangita S.

Yelp
Great place for Tibetan/Nepali/Indian food! Came here with my husband and in-laws for an early dinner. Food: +Samosas- nothing special, just regular ole potato samosas +Strawberry Lassi- very delicious with a tangy flavor aftertaste +Tingmo- Tibetan hot buns- super bland and the sauce was just salty soy sauce +Kathmandu Daal Bhatt- loved this simple yellow daal +Naan- soft and buttery +Spicy Goat curry- the highlight of my dinner! very tasty goat meat cooked in curry, reminded me of kali puja back at home + Vegetable Jalfrezi- underwhelming; just a bunch of potatoes and peas mostly with a few cauliflower pieces. Service: Pretty poor service. No one was around to greet us when we walked in. I had to go all the way into the kitchen to call for someone. Then, another 10 minutes for water, and then another 10 to order. Ambience: Cozy restaurant with seating for 20 or so, but it got packed by the end of our dinner. Light hindi music playing in the background. All non-Indian clientele so the locals seem to love it too. -Hungry Hungry Pongy

Yelp
Yak and Yeti has been a family favorite since it opened. The dishes are full of flavor and there is plenty of it. However, I feel that many dishes are cooked in too much oil and sometimes service is slow.

Durr D.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. I support food diversity. Glad to have these guys in the mix when I'm feeling curry. Tasty, fast, not expensive, all good things.

Shreyans M.

Yelp
Great service and awesome food. We were 6 of us with a lot of luggage. They made sure that we get a bigger table at the back. All the staff were very nice. Food is very nice and simple. I had a lot of Indian/Nepali food and this one is definitely a better one. Great quantity and taste. Both veg and non-veg dishes were great!!! Overall.. you should try this place in Anchorage.

Lard Belly E.

Yelp
Still a good place to get some indian/nepalese food. I don't know if this place is associated with the new place in the REI strip mall, which I am not a fan of, but that is another yelp. I got my ever lovin' palak, while another got the pork vindaloo, and chicken masala. I loved the Pork Vindaloo, but was not a fan of the chicken masala, it had too much smoky something flavor that I wasn't a fan of. Will come again, but not too soon as winter is upon us and this place does not have an arctic entry. Brrrr.

Yelp
I have been looking forward to try Indian food in Anchorage and had seen this place on yelp a while back so when my mom mentioned that she wanted to go here with me the other day (on the way to the used bookstore on a rainy day) I was like "Yes!! Let's not forget!!" So after 2 days of amazing weather on Fri and Sat with all the outdoor activities I could dream of, I started to feel a little bit restless when the rain started again so I suggested that we should go eat! I looked at the menu online since I take forever to decide sometimes and already knew what I wanted but didn't know if they'd have it. I was a bit disappointed when I was told they didn't have goat Vindaloo (or lamb) but oh well. I had assumed my mom would want to share so I had browsed some of my more tamer choices since she doesn't like extremely spicy like I do. I ended up getting the pick 2 bowl with chicken tikki and palak paneer. They are both mild options that I like and will occasionally get at places so easy choice :) Anyways, I kinda wish I had gone with a Vindaloo (a much more spicy dish) because I felt both dishes lacked depth of flavor, spiciness and salt. I don't really like chicken but the chicken actually is good and not in super tiny pieces! It tastes grilled or pan seared and is white meat so that gets points because I don't really like chicken breast because of the lack of any fat/flavor/chewing lol I like chewing sometimes! I'll end up going here again and just be more specific about how I want my food (they are going to hate me..) but yeah the environment was really chill and relaxed, employees were on point and nice but not annoying plus a local paper on the tables. I totally missed out on a Ferris Bueller showing earlier tonight that I saw in the paper!!

Yelp
I have long liked Yak and Yeti and recommended it to folks. I always prefer the family owned establishment over the chain, and Y&Y is just this. Lobsang and his son are frequently here serving and do a pretty solid job. There are a host of great dishes here -- most are a BIT pricey, but alas, this is Alaska, so expect to pay higher prices in nearly every restaurant (15-30% more than in the lower 48). Y&Y has a wide variety of Nepalese and Indian dishes, all cooked to order (can cook from mild to hot/spicy). I love me some spicey food, and this place kept me quite happy. I really like some of the appetizers that are offered here -- everything from Samosas to mushrooms. Definitely recommended. This is one of the FEW restaurants in Anchorage that does NOT charge a corkage fee. I frequently found myself subsidizing this place because of this policy. All in all, a solid option for Nepalese/Indian food in Anchorage.

Saranya M.

Yelp
Indian food tibetan chicken curry was the best! Loved the saag paneer and the spicy goat curry too.

Sandra T.

Yelp
I am from Seattle and come to Alaska for about a week. This is where I had my first meal after I landed in Anchorage based on the review on Yelp. I had very low expectation of finding good Himalayan/Nepalese/Indian good in Alaska and this little gem just caught me by surprise. The food here is very flavorful, cooked just right with friendly service. During my short stay in the area, I came here for 3 meals. I tried a bunch of items on their menu and love everything. The tandoori mushroom is superb. Pork Vindaloo, lamb curry and goat curry are all very tasty. The spicy pork with steamed bun is also a good choice. Definitely recommend anyone that enjoys this type of food to come here. You will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of food here in Alaska!

Rene A. G.

Yelp
It Smells And Looks Great!!! The Food Was Delicious!!! Would Recommend To Our Friends!!! Can't Wait To Drive Back To Anchorage To Eat There Again!!!

SB F.

Yelp
This is the best chicken tikka masala in the world. I have traveled all over, after moving from Anchorage, looking for something as close to YnY's. And it just doesn't exist. Every time I come back to visit AK, this is a mandatory stop. Best food and flavor. Try it - you won't be disappointed. Caution though - it will ruin you for all other Himalayan food and all other chicken tikka masala dishes.

Shawn J.

Yelp
Dined here this evening and it was a mostly good experience. Service and ambience were good. My lamb curry, tandoori mushrooms and garlic naan, all good. I'm a foodie so look for items I've never tried, tonight I saw their Pakistani pickles in the condiments section. Never having seen this, I ordered them. First bite I almost spit them out but stopped myself. I've worked in petrochemical a long time and my first reaction was that they tasted the way a refinery smells, like warm crude oil. Being a fan of Andrew Zimmer I didn't let the first reaction stop me. A little lamb, another bite of pickle, I made it about half way through the bowl when I said enough is enough. I now have 3 things I never eat, sweet and sour meatballs, raw squid, and Pakastani pickles made from unripe mangos. This said...if you're a foodie, definitely try them! You may have an entirly different reaction, especially if you've never worked in a refinery. If you love them, please reply and explain why.

Yelp
Yak and Yeti is one of like 4 worthwhile restaurants in the city of anchorage. The chai tea is the best. The goat is wonderful, as is the mutter paneer, momos & samosa. I don't live in Anchorage anymore but this is the first place I'd go if I was back in town.

Madhu R.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for dinner when visiting Anchorage. Pretty good food - we ordered aloo tikki, tomato soup and mutter paneer; all of which tasted good. The taste was subtle and much to our liking. I wouldn't say that it tasted like something we typically get in any other exclusive Indian restaurant nevertheless we found it delicious. The service was super fast and the staff was also very pleasant. I have to mention the rice they served - it did not def seem like basmati rice but it was somewhat close to jasmine rice we get in a Thai place. Overall good bang for the buck!!

Trudy R.

Yelp
Wow! Just ate at this wonderful family restaurant. Great attentive service, delicious food, and an absolute gem in Anchorage Alaska! Hard to believe we just found this great restaurant! Already looking forward to our next visit.....

Michelle R.

Yelp
This is a must-stop when in Anchorage. Food is plentiful and flavorful. Ambiance is basic and comfortable at best. The food is definitely the focus at Yak and Yeti!

Nancy S.

Yelp
I was craving some Indian food while we were traveling and we thought this looks good. We got chole, panner mutter and they were both really good. The taste was slightly different that what we are use to because it did have some Himalayas flavor but it tasted great and it was quick! Would def. recommend it.

Richard N.

Yelp
First time here, I'll give it a 3 because the Chicken Tikka was a little dry right on the edge of juicy and dry. Went for lunch and they had a Lamb Saam special my wife got. She said less lamb more spinach. She's been before but my first time. Will try again. Place is quaint, and had really attentive staff. That was nice. A+! We would like to try their goat curry next time.

Yelp
a family run business nestled in Spenard in a small rustic building. while many may be put off by the decor and location it is better than eating in Nepal. The use of spices makes the food fun, and something you wouldn't easily whip up at home. Make sure you tell your server if you don't want it too hot on certain dishes. The llasa momos(little meat dumplings) are excellent but unfortunately are only served at dinner. Be sure you check the times because half the week they are open for lunch only. the food is different as it is not mainstream cuisine and provides a unique taste for those who are adventurous. i recommend that if you don't care for the food or ambiance please stay away as it allows me to be able to always find a table.

Camdon W.

Yelp
I love Yak and Yeti. My wife and kids love Yak and Yeti. Even my mom loves it. It's hard to be objective about something you love but I'll try. I've been coming to Y&Y since they opened and I've enjoy every meal. I have eaten my way through the menu and, while I have my favorites, I have never had an unacceptable meal. Lunch specials like the goat curry are a personal favorite. There are several options for vegetarians as one might expect with an Indian/Tibetan restaurant. Dishes are often prepared with whole spices so watch what you bite into! Crunching into a pod of star anise is not everyone's idea of a good time. The dinner menu includes Tibetan beef dumplings called Momos. They are house made, yummy, very accessible, and a good starting place for people unsure of a new cuisine. The Kalimpong Shapta is a dream but be warned; I ask for it to be extra spicy and was given a choice between pretty hot and ugly hot and went with ugly. It was delicious but my gastrointestinal track was miserable the next day. I'll leave the stupidly spicy food to a younger man next time. Things I love about the restaurant that others might not: 1. While the food is consistently good it is not always the same. Be prepared for some variation depending on who is cooking. That makes me very happy but I'm weird. 2. The food is cooked to order so when they're busy service slows down. 3. There is one table that hides behind a pillar and if you sit there you might be forgotten. A smile and a wave is all it takes to get back on track. 4. The dining area is small so it's hard to get away from your fellow diners that choose to drench themselves in cologne or perfume. Do yourself a favor and eat here. Enjoy the food, the kind and caring staff, and the chai. You will come to love it as I have and then you'll lose your objectivity too.

Dave G.

Yelp
Delicious Asian food. I should have asked for more spice on the goat curry - it had no heat at all. My fault. Dumplings (momos) were delicious and the garlic naan is always very good. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. I got my food to go this time and it was ready very fast! The Indian pickles are my fave and is a wonderful way to change the taste on your palate - sort of like ginger does at a sushi restaurant. All in all, a wonderful place to dine. This is for the Spenard location.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Great Indian food with some Nepalese/Tibetan options. Great flavor, great service, big portion sizes. One of my favorite restaurants in Anchorage.

Kalani C.

Yelp
Friend has ranted & raved about this humble find for years now. Dishes are distinctly different with bold and spicy overtones. I love our Nepalese restaurant in Hawaii called The Himalayan Kitchen. However, flavors here elevate to another level. Everything is unique and service by the good looking staff is quiet and polite (Teresa C nailed it). Owner Labsong (?) was warm & sociable, offering us complimentary naan & hot chai teas for the road (which btw is just stellar!). We started with the Tibetan Lhasa Momos: Meaty Tibetan beef dumplings steamed in a flour dough wrapper and served with our own special Yak and Yeti hot sauce. These were so amazing and also went well with our side order of Indian Pickels that packed a wallop in flavor! We then ordered their Spicey Goat Curry (and boy was it, but loved it!); their Indian Aloo Gobhi: Cauliflower and potatoes cooked in a semi dry curry and served over rice, with raita; and lastly, their Indian Keema Curry: Ground beef and peas curried in mild spices. Everything was amazeballs, serious! This was a huge ordering of food that we couldn't finish, but gladly took as leftovers for our train ride to Talkeetna the following morning. Mahalo Labsong for such a pleasurable experience!! We wish you luck in your dream of moving to Honolulu one day! We would love it! Many locals we've met in Anchorage have never dinned here but always mention they are meaning to. Folks, it's time to go! Lots of love going on in this kitchen!

Joshua C.

Yelp
I'll start by saying I haven't eaten much Indian food in my life, so this review is more in line with a first-time experience vs. someone who's eaten "real" Indian food in Mumbai. Hungry one evening in Anchorage and looking to try something a little different/adventurous, I turned to the internet to find my wife and I some dinner. Yak & Yeti was nearby the hotel we were staying at, had solid reviews, and was different so it met the criteria. Hooray for the internet! We arrived during dinner hours (6-7), pulling up to a little divey-looking building with a tiny parking lot right off the road. The location really isn't great, parking is a bit of a pain as is leaving the parking lot which requires you to back into the main road. Inside the building is kind of what you'd expect from the outside and the best way I can describe it is "comfortable". We were greeted by the waitress/hostess immediately upon arriving and explained that we were looking to order takeout but had no idea what to order. She was very friendly and suggested the chicken tikka masala for Indian "newbs" like us. Another waiter (cook maybe, I don't know) was also hovering nearby the register, but wasn't nearly as friendly or helpful. I guess you could just call it a bad day for him, 50/50 on the service. We ended up going with the suggestion of chicken tikka masala in addition to an order of pork vindaloo. The dishes came with the option of rice, tingmo, or some other bread. We went with rice and tingmo. I'm glad we did as both dishes were tasty and made for an awesome alternative to pizza (boy does Anchorage have a TON of pizza joints), Applebee's, or TGI Friday's. I can't comment on eating at the restaurant itself, but the to-go portions were served in your typical styrofoam container, decent sized, enough to fill both my wife and I's appetites without feeling the stuffed yuck that is often attributed to overeating. Presentation was...well, messy, but that's to be expected given the container/food. The chicken tikka masala was very flavorful, definitely my preferred dish of the two sampled, particularly the sauce. Dipping the tingmo (some sort of steamed bun) into the sauce is especially wondrous and it was hard not to "pig" all the buns. Sharing is tough kids. The only negative I found was the chicken itself - a bit on the dry side. I'm not sure if that's how the dish is prepared traditionally, but I like my meat moist in most cases. The pork vindaloo was tasty, reminded me a bit of adobo for some reason. Lots of flavor, moist, filling. I ate the majority of it (along with most of the rice) as my wife isn't really a big meat eater. So much for not pigging. I think my biggest takeaway from Yak & Yeti is that I really like Indian food. I would eat here again, and now want to check out other spots back home that serve Indian. I want to cook it at home. Yak & Yeti: Thank you for being a gateway drug into the world of Indian cuisine!

Laura B.

Yelp
Excellent food, good service, homey atmosphere. Everything I've had here has been good and makes me want to come back as soon as possible. The Kalimpong Shapta is easily my favorite- the buns that come with it make it extra tasty. There is a good bit of pork fat that it swim in a bit, but if that's not your thing, you can let it drain off a bit. I have issues with grease, but this dish never bothered me. I even soak up the 'juice' with my bun. Mmmm. The lamb curry is good, as are the lentils. The smells of other people's food makes you wish you'd ordered what they had even as your dish is delicious. It's the key to what makes you want to come back. The chai is really good, and I love the water in the stainless steel cups. Keeps the water nice and cold without ice. The hours are a bit odd, but once you get used to them, you figure out how to work around them. They're open for lunch Mon-Fri and supper just Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I went for supper last Thursday and they had at least five other tables in there (it's a small place, so maybe a third full) by 5:20 pm and they only open at 5pm. I think that's telling.

Jordan R.

Yelp
This place is good. I like the simple choices. And the unique flavors. We had a chicken tikka and the spicy goat curry. Both had good flavor and spiced to our requirements. Of course I liked my wife's dish better than mine. Our garlic naan could have used a bit more time in the tandoor. But it was good too. But all said it was a good experience. That I'd re turn for more. When a restaurant says Himalayian. It spans several different distinct cultures. India, Nepal, Bhutan,China. So it's hard to pin them to being "authentic". As this restaurant is in Alaska I thought their menu choices gave me a good variety to choose from. The flavors were a good, DELISHIOUS interpretation of the dishes I wanted. If I had wanted. Solely Indian. That's where I would have gone. The same with the others. But yaks and yetis. Gave me variety. And I liked it. So boohoo naysayers. Go specialize elsewhere.

Yelp
Ordered lunch here for the first time and wow! The staff was friendly and helpful. The Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious and the fresh naan was incredible. Also, the pricing was really reasonable at 13.99 for CTM, rice and a large naan. I'm not sure if I'll get to trying any other dishes any time soon as I'm already wanting to go back for more CTM. As for atmosphere, this is a good place for a quiet sit down lunch or dinner if you don't need much privacy. The outside is run down (it's Spenard) but the inside is tidy, clean and small.

Yelp
I went for lunch, and got there right at opening time. Small place, good food. I had the pork vindaloo, and my friend got the lamb curry. They each came with rice at about a 12 buck apiece price tag. We split a garlic naan. Both dishes were good, with just the right level of heat we had specified. I'm much more partial to Indian curries than I am to Thai, and I was pleased with what I got. Having eaten many Indian curries in London and Canada, I'm a little bit picky when it comes to this type of food. It was good, but not more than three stars for me.

Yelp
I love this place. The chai is great either iced or hot. The service is quick and friendly. Everything I've tried on the menu has been excellent -- lamb curry, potato & cauliflower curry, lentils, naan, steamed buns, beef dumplings. Each time I take a look at the menu I want to order one of everything, which means I'll be returning often to try more and more dishes. It's one of my new favorite places to eat out in Anchorage.

Yelp
Get the spiced tea, it's to chai for. Great food, big portions! Vegetarian options are plentiful!

Yelp
Food is decent. Mix between Indian and Tibetan cuisines. We ordered tomato soup, tigmo, naan and malai kofta. I am giving them 2 stars because of their weird timings. They are open on limited days, and when they are open they have limited open hours. We were hungry and went there for lunch at 1:45, as they were opened till 2:30 but they bluntly told that their kitchen was closed and shooed us away. They need to update their timings information on yelp. Please call them before you visit them.

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants of all time. Always a friendly service and food is always so good. A must if you're craving Himalayan cuisine. We love getting the momos, chicken tikka, and pork vindaloo. We normally get our food for take out, but we've dined in twice and both times were a good experience. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I love this place. The owners are sweet...and I love that they've expanded it some. It's a cute little place, the service is fantastic. My favorite dish is the Chicken Tikka Masala with an order of Naan and extra Raita. Totally worth every penny. Take your family, take your friends...but mainly, just go here. You won't be sorry.

Yelp
Not a huge fan of Indian food, but the mix with Himalayan cuisine sounded interesting enough to give this place a shot. Tried the Pokhara Lamb Sekhwa for appetizer and the Pork Vindaloo. The lamb was delicious and perfectly cooked! The pork was decent and flavorful. It was just a wee bit pricey but not outrageous.

Yelp
I've been to Y&Y a few times, and I've never been really disappointed. The naan is super tasty, so I order the garlic ones every time I go -- big, fluffy, thick slabs of delicious naan (though it could use more garlic for my garlicky appetite!) Service can be off, just because it's a small place and it can get busy. I once ordered a soup that had leeks, corn and tofu, but no tofu was in it.. it took awhile to flag the waiter and tell him, but he brought me another big bowl of soup, this time with tofu in it (I just expected some tofu on the side, so that was nice!) The service is quiet and polite, the food is delicious, and I don't go here as much as I would like! Parking is weird, so your best bet is to go behind the building, not in front. And don't sit by the door! It gets hella cold in the winter!
