Yakusugi Land

Fabulous place, well worth a visit. Don't let the name put you off. You drive up a windy, twisty, sometimes one lane to get to the park. You may see deer and monkeys on the way. At the entrance area is the first of 2 carparks, a rest house with toilets, a souvenir shop and info centre. Then there's the gate to the park. The entrance fee is ¥500 for adults. There are several courses through the park listed by the time it takes. The shortest course takes 30 minutes and can be done wearing sneakers. The timings for the courses are pretty spot on and the staff will also show you photos of the trails so you know what to expect. The trails are really well marked in Japanese and English. They also check where you're from. Loved it, it's more than worth the drive and it's especially suited for those occasional day hikers out there.

Beautiful park, very well signaged with various routes depending on duration and level of fitness. We were advised to do the 50min instead of 80 as the latter was slippery due to rain. Keep your ticket as it includes ¥200 yen discount for Shiratani unsuikyo. But really, its not much to pay to preserve this paradise.

I did the green trail its was very beautiful some part wear pretty steep but stil do able. Bring Some food because you can’t buy it there. There is a little shop and you can buy some drinks there. Price to enter the forest is 500 yen and hé will give you a map and explain the trains to you and how long each of them take the one I took was 3.5 hours

Good way to see the depth of the natural first including some millenarian cedars without heavy hiking. It's good if you have younger kids or can't hike for multiple hours in the forest

Visited recently during a typhoon. The rain only made it more beautiful. The hike is a choose your own adventure with different lengths of trails.

My family enjoyed hiking the trails at Yakusugi Land. Although my daughters are quite young (5 and 7 years old), the trails were clearly marked and not too difficult for them. During the hike, we saw many beautiful gorges and ancient cedar trees, some of which are over 1,000 years old. I would recommend going early in the morning, as the tree cover provides natural shade, keeping you cool while you hike.

A magical place and everything is well marked. I did the 210 min trail solo and it wasn’t overly strenuous. Some parts are a little bit technical or tricky, but not too bad. If you’re short on time, the 150 min trail seems just as good as the 210 min one. Saw maybe 10 other hikers, and I went on a Saturday.

There were no spiders this high up so even if you are nervous about walking through the bush with spiders - this is a good place to go. The 50 minute walk was more like 30 minutes and was very cool - if I was doing it again I would do the longer 80 minute trail.

It was a suuuuper long hike I ever had . I was almost asleep while walking. It was amazing and wonderful place. We did it .
