Fabulous place, well worth a visit.
Don't let the name put you off.
You drive up a windy, twisty, sometimes one lane to get to the park. You may see deer and monkeys on the way. At the entrance area is the first of 2 carparks, a rest house with toilets, a souvenir shop and info centre. Then there's the gate to the park. The entrance fee is ¥500 for adults.
There are several courses through the park listed by the time it takes. The shortest course takes 30 minutes and can be done wearing sneakers.
The timings for the courses are pretty spot on and the staff will also show you photos of the trails so you know what to expect. The trails are really well marked in Japanese and English.
They also check where you're from.
Loved it, it's more than worth the drive and it's especially suited for those occasional day hikers out there.
