Yama Ramen

Such a great experience! I ordered the kimchi pork don, kani salad, and edamame, everything was fresh and full of flavor. The pork don had the perfect balance of spice, and the strawberry ice cream mochi was the perfect sweet finish. Michelle was amazing, so friendly and attentive. She really made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back!

Three out of four of these meals that we had were good here. I had miso Ramen. It was very good and comparable to other Ramen places. Sushi was great. The teriyaki steak bento box left a lot to be desired, the steak had a very rubbery and shoot a texture that made it almost impossible to eat. Other than that, the atmosphere is great and the servers are OK.

Great spot to hit before Radio City. Friendly service from the minute we walked in. All staff acknowledged us throughout the meal and checked in. Fresh food and it came out quickly. Would go back. Good vibe and good spot to go with friends or alone.

We went into the city to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree and afterwards we were frozen. I looked for a place where we could get some hot noodle soup to defrost and found Yama. Luckily it's only 2 blocks from Rockefeller Center. It's a small cozy Japanese restaurant tucked away up a narrow flight of stairs from the street. Dont blink or you'll miss it. The atmosphere is warm, modest, and authentic. The service was fast and friendly. And my tonkatsu ramen was delicious.

We had the pleasure of having Michelle as our server, and not only was the food amazing (got sushi rolls as our entree), but the service was exceptional too! Michelle was working through the snow storm which couldn’t have been easy, but still provided top notch service! Also, highly recommend the kale salad!

we went there on 12/28. I don’t know why the shop was already full but the boss still solicited more and more customers. As a result, the waiter just hang us there for thirty mins with no water. After 30 mins, the waiter finally noticed us that we haven’t ordered the meal. When the food came out, the ramen was warm not hot and the dumplings were cold. Overall this restaurant is so disappointing 🥲🥲

The atmosphere is amazing, low tone music and very calm but still modern. The decor is very simple but add to the experience. We were looking for sushi in town and found many places claim to serve sushi but most were crab rolls. This place offered a variety of rolls, sashimi, and if you arnt looking for raw fish the ramen was great. The broth was rich with good flavor and the pork belly was tender not rubber I also enjoyed the 2 gals who helped us they were very welcoming and knew the menu well. Looking to escape the busy street for good food and a great atmosphere you found it here.

Excellent atmosphere. Excellent service. Delicious food. Had their restaurant week specials. Presentation of food was fantastic. The Kimchi ramen with chicken was very tasty, very filling. Timing of food and service was completely on point. Really cozy place, right down to the ambient mix of music playing in the background. Editing to add pictures.

Food: I ordered the chicken katsu bun, miso soup, and the sweet potato roll. The chicken katsu bun was amazing, miso soup and sweet potato roll were average. Fair priced. Service: Service was a bit slow but the servers were accommodating and nice. Ambiance: It was very cute inside! Authentic decor and seating.

We came back to this beautiful place for Restaurant Week. You need to climb a lot of stairs to get to the entrance, but it's worth the hike. The service is amazing - the server was able to convince the sushi chef to use the only 2 stands they have in the restaurant for our omakase entrees. The food is delicious, the broth was tasty in the ramen, and the sushi was fresh. I love the beautiful artwork, especially the sake tree by the waiting area. Aside from having only 1 restroom for everyone to share, it was a wonderful experience. I will definitely come back for more!

The food is fine, nothing special but not bad either. Tourists like coming here since it's close to Times Square. I was in the area running errands and wanted a casual ramen spot. They have happy hour deals even on the weekend. We walked in for Saturday lunch. I got a small carafe of hot sake for $7. I tried the kimchi ramen and chicken katsu bun. Both were fine.

Possibly the worst bowl of ramen I have had in NYC, and I have had a lot. Dirty dish water is what I recall.

Let me start by saying our dishes were very good. We had made reservations for dinner after the Radio City Christmas Spectacular (highly recommend) since it is nearby. It is located on the 2nd floor with decent seating. Since it was winter, it was nice that there is a coat rack. We ordered the double braised pork, kale salad, California roll for appetizers. They have Happy Hour specials daily which we took advantage. We also ordered a few ramen bowls and unagi don bowl. Service was efficient and attentive. When we asked for the check, the bill showed they automatically added a tip of 18% and on the bottom of the bill shows suggested tips. We proceeded to pay by CC and on the merchant copy of the receipt the tip line was crossed out so I couldn't change the tip. So they lost out on a bigger tip. Oh well...Now I know I have another option before a show at Radio City besides Potbelly sandwiches.

I came here for lunch on a Sunday right about when they opened at 12 pm. The restaurant was up a long flight of stairs. I guess that's very apropos with their restaurant name. I seemed to be their first customer of the day as the place was empty. After looking over their menu, I ordered edamame and a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. Overall, the bowl of ramen was decent. The broth was flavorful and the ajitama was properly cooked, however the bamboo was way too sweet and the noodles were a bit overcooked. I prefer my noodles to be firm. Service was good. If I decide to return, I would try something else on their menu.

I found Yama Ramen while trying to find a spot to have a quick dinner before our show at Radio City. It was Valentine's Day, so I pickings were a little slim. I was able to make a reservation for Yama Ramen online for our table of 5 a few days before. Only 2 of us were on time, but they sat us anyways, which was very nice of them. The food, though, left much to be desired. I had the tsukemen, which was the saddest I've ever had. I'm pretty sure they just used their standard tonkatsu broth and served me hot, sticky ramen on the side. The noodles hot, sticky, and overcooked. The broth was watery and flavorless. The egg was decidedly hard boiled and not gooey. My friend had the gyoza, which looked like they came from the microwave. The worst part was when my friend ordered the chicken wings, and the waitress came back to tell us they didn't have it today and were sold out. Halfway through our meal, we saw another table get an order of chicken wings. So clearly they weren't sold out? The next time I'm in the area for a show, I would definitely not eat again at Yama.

Here for restaurant week, the staffs are friendly. The restaurant is located in the second floor. The lunch or dinner is $30 per person for the ramen or you can order the sushi for $45. We reserved via Open Table however, they took us right in and seated us even though we came in early. For appetizer: - Yama Wings: their fried wings with soy and sesame pepper are very crispy and delicious. - Lka Karage: their deep fried squid comes with spicy mayo to dip is also very crispy, tastes like calamari. For ramen: - Shoyu Ramen: their broth is rich also tasted sweet, would recommend getting their Shoyu Ramen. It also comes with corn. - Tonkotsu Ramen: their broth is a little on the saltier side but also very delicious. For desserts: - Two matcha mochi ice cream per person Would recommend eating here!

The ramen here was decent but could have used a bit more spice. The ambiance was nice, though it wasn't particularly memorable.

Atmosphere (4/5): Located on the second floor of 48th street is a hidden ramen shop. During a weekday lunch hour, the establishment was a little over half capacity. There a minimalistic Japanese feel to the décor. It's slightly cramped but since the restaurant wasn't full, it wasn't so bad. Good volume and nicely lit. Service (5/5): Great service! It was super fast to place my order and have it ready. My whole dining experience was under 20 minutes. Food Tonkatsu Ramen (3.5/5): I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen. The dish had plentiful toppings that were actually marinated, like the bamboo. Only half of a soft boiled egg which didn't taste pre-marinated. I liked the touch of the sautéed cabbage. The pork was out of this word good!! It was extremely tender, great portion of meat to fat ratio, and marinated with a savory flavor that melts in your mouth. Sadly, the broth and the noodles were a bit of a letdown. The broth needs more umami, perhaps thicker consistency, and more flavoring. Even with the table chili garlic oil, the ramen was not much flavor.

We were in the mood for ramen, so tried this midtown option. Its located up a flight of stairs. The restaurant is actually fairly large, with a lot of seating. I ordered the Shoyu ramen. It was actually a fairly large bowl, with a few different items. I really liked the broth as well as the pork, which I found to be quite tender and flavorful. Will definitely recommend if you are looking for a cheaper ramen option in the area.

Yummy Tonkatsu ramen the big bowl is worth it feeds two people! Kind of pricy but it's Manhattan Decent service would go back

I came here for a quick bite on a Friday night. The restaurant is on the second floor. I sat at the bar. It was busy, but not packed. They have happy hour specials until 9:30pm, which is a rare treat. I had the $8 happy hour red wine. The pour was a bit small but it was a nice, balanced cab. To eat, I had a sweet potato tempura roll with a side of spicy mayo. The roll was tasty with very crispy tempura. They charge $1 for the spicy mayo which is a little steep for a condiment, but worth it for the spicy kick. Service was fast.

my friend and i were in the city and were craving ramen like crazy. this was one of the few places in the area. it didn't have the highest star ratings, but we still decided to pick it because it was closest. let me tell you, we went here about two weeks ago and i'm still thinking about it. the place is so cute and cozy, definitely on the smaller side but it wasn't busy. and the waiters are very attentive and super nice. the ramen was absolutely delicious. definitely some of the best ramen i've had in a while. i can't wait to go back here at some point!!

Yama Ramen is a really great Japanese restaurant in Midtown West. Great place especially for Ramen . The Miso Ramen had such a good broth and the Pork Belly was delicious! The 30 Rock was a great sushi roll with a mix of Salmon, Avocado, tuna, yellowtail and Creme cheese. We also got the Shishito - Japanese Pepper. I'm not a huge spicy fan but this really wasn't spicy at all. It actually reminded me of edamame lol. I had a little bit of Sake too.

Hole in the wall upstairs unassuming but authentic. The ramen was spot on full of flavor. Service was excellent. We finished off with the Manhattan roll. Over all pleased with everything

Ordered delivery from here near the office. The sushi came in 30 minutes and was super tasty. I loved the spicy kani avocado roll. Would order from here again!

Been a while since I came here, if you need a quick, decently priced meal come here. It's really 3.5*. Service is fast and efficient (don't except small talk). Turnaround for a table is fast, it's also gets crowded during lunch or dinner time. Order, eat, get check, pay and go. We got: Appetitzers : crispy rice with salmon. If you like the brunt rice on the bottom of the bowl, this is a must order. Crispy Brussel sprouts Entree: - tonkotsu ramen - shoyu ramen Both were good and we finished the bowl. Good spot for Midtown.

Great casual hole in a wall for bites and fantastic happy hour. Beers are like $8 and wine is about $9. Their hot sake is $7. The sushi and ramen is very average and I would honestly come for the appetizers like takoyaki and sushi rolls. There was a lot of rice in the chirashi bowls and donburi but those tasted ok. Overall. I think it's a good happy hr place to start the evening.

Great service, long happy hour, affordable price.. My takoyaki was good, but the ramen, sorry, it's just alright. Nothing special about it. Will i come back? Maybe, for the appz and happy hour.. but not for the ramen

Nice, clean place, second floor, they had room to seat us (4) quickly at about 5:30 on a Friday. Tables pretty close together but overall a nice ambiance and friendly service. We tried the pork bun and gyoza for appetizer; both tasty. Happy hour specials too! We ordered 2 rolls, Tonkotsu ramen and Yama Beef Bowl. All pretty standard and good, no complaints. My daughter really loved the Yama Beef Bowl and it did have an unusual umami flavor that was delicious. Sushi was ok, nothing amazing. Prices decent, portions were satisfying. We liked this place and would go back.

The restaurand is on a second floor so you need to go up some stairs. Their sushi rolls are okay, tried the TUNA, SALMON AVOCADO, SPIDER, RAINBOW, and the LOBSTER MONSTER ROLL. I would say the SALMON AVOCADO and the RAINBOW were better but I was not surprised by any. There is a server who is a bit rude and may stand close to you when you are about to finish, kind of forcing you to finish quick and go. They have a hangers for the jackets, which is pretty useful. They have nice decoration ESPAÑOL: El restaurante está en un primer piso así que debes subir unas escaleras. Sus sushi rolls están okay, probé el TUNA, SALMON AVOCADO, SPIDER, RAINBOW, and the LOBSTER MONSTER ROLL. Diría que el SALMON AVOCADO y el RAINBOW eran los mejores pero no me sorprendió ninguno. Hay una camarera que es un poco tosca y quizás esté a tu lado cuando estés terminando, se siente como que quieren que termines rápido y te vayas. The service was fast but almost felt rushed. We were disappointed in the food. The twice braised pork was not appetizing it was cold and gelatinous at the bottom. The squid had a cheese type of crumble on top which was strange. The curry was ok flavored and the bento box was average.

It was ok. Solid 2 , maybe 3. Definitely had better ramen. Salty like everyone says. There's room to do better.

Ambiance at Yama Ramen is great. Staff are very friendly. Came here after work with a friend on a weekday and it was pretty empty. They have a pretty good happy hour menu for snacks and drinks if you are down for that. We ordered quite a lot got two people. Sashimi was ok, not as fresh as I thought. Takoyahi and tuna roll were pretty good and these two are on happy hour menu. We also ordered a miso ramen to share. Ramen did not meet expectations, pork was over cooked and hard. Soup base was alright. I would come back for happy hour but not ramen

I got your typical standard fare Tonkotsu Ramen. Its broth was so bland it was hard to enjoy. My partner got their tsukemen and it almost felt illegal how watered down it was. It was more bland than my ramen.

This restaurant has great ambiance but it's lacking in customer service and quality of food. We ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice and it came out overcooked and cold. We advised the waiter of the problem and he stated "That's the way we cook it and we can't do it any other way." Even when we showed him how it looked and asked for it to be remade he didn't help. Of course we were not locals and it showed we but I think they really don't care about that. They just provide you with bad service and tasteless food. But this is just my experience so try it if you want to.

Great location and ambience with comfortable seatings a block away from Rockerfeller Christmas tree on a busy December Thursday night (arounrd 545pm). Great ambience. Ordered Chashu and soyu ramen and pork gyoza ($7 on happy hour menu) to share. Good noodle texture and sweet bamboo slices, creamy souo. Chashu was cut a little too thick for my taste. The pork gyoza was greasy and not crispy so was meh. Surprising that their happy hour was 5pm to 8pm on weekdays as I'd imagine that's prime dinner time. Sapporo only for $6 a bottle on happy hour menu which is a steal in times square!

Came for restaurant week with some friends. Service was good and the food was all very fresh. The restaurant is really small so it was super loud and it can be hard to have a conversation.

Upon arrival, we noticed there was a line going up the steps (there's about 10-15 steps to climb as the restaurant is a small space on the second floor). It seemed like the wait could be long, but we only spent about 20 minutes waiting, which was not bad at all considering how many people it seemed there were. The space was beyond buzzing, so busy and you could see how hard everyone was working to have a quick and efficient turnaround. There was an amazing happy hour, which went until 9:30 pm including drinks and some appetizers. We ordered a bottle of red wine ($40) - in retrospect we should have done glasses since it was still happy hour for most of the time we were there. We got a California roll which was part of happy hour ($5.0), a shrimp bun, pork bun ($6 each) a tonkotsu ramen and chicken shoyu ramen ($18 each). There was a decent turnaround, especially considering how busy it was. One thing to note though., tables are really close to each other, so there's not much personal space so be ready to feel cozy with your neighbors. The California roll was nothing to write home about but a good and solid roll. The buns were incredible, but did come out after the ramen, so I ended up taking my shrimp bun home - being too full from the ramen. The ramen was wonderful, nice Al dente noodles, a good sized portion, a rich and delicious broth, and of course, as ramen tends to be, so filling. I was really happy with giving this place a try and it was certainly worth the wait.

We snagged a reservation for Friday night and were seated immediately upon arrival. It's a very cozy place, definitely for smaller groups. We got Yama Big Bowl (basically just a larger portion of the tonkatsu ramen) and shoyu ramen with pork belly. There was a good amount of meat and bamboo shoots, which are my favorite! The portions are quite large so we left very full and happy.

Great tasty food. It's a small, quiet restaurant which is a nice welcome from the busy day... they do have a small sushi bar.

I'm a little sad to give this 3 stars but I feel like it's a fair warning. If you can manage a table at TsuronronTan just a few doors over - go for that instead I wanted to like this because it's $30 for a restaurant week meal that includes miso soup/salad - sushi omakase - and choice of mango/green tea mochi Instead I just felt uncomfortable? Everyone is packed upstairs and clearly there were multiple business groups coming by too so it was really hard to hear each other (also no Covid consideration, everyone mask off for obvious reasons) The food was good but straight forward. There wasn't really anything special/interesting about the omakase - like takeout sushi, fish on rice. Which is fine! But a little disappointing for the hype around Restaurant Week. The only redeeming part of the meal was the mango mochi for me.

This has quickly become my go-to spot before a show. It's on a side street and with Times Square so close, foot traffic is lower here and the prices are great! I've only had the sushi though because you can't beat the happy hour price of 2 speciality rolls for $30 (excludes 2, but there are still plenty to choose from). It's such a relief to have a place I can go for a quick dinner because I try to spend as little time in the area as possible because it's so touristy. All the workers are friendly and the food comes out fast. You have to be able to walk a flight of stairs from the street level.

Went here for NYC restaurant week as I was craving ramen and they were offering an awesome $21 app+ramen+dessert deal. To start, the service was a little unprofessional and disorganized. I wanted to check out their menu before I got seated and the guy at the counter gave us a weird look and didn't seem too impressed. Fast forward to us actually being seated, it took quite some time for the server to take our order despite it being 5PM on a weekday and the place was by no means busy. Why I am giving this place 2 stars: the ramen, which should have been the highlight of the meal, was absolutely, and I repeat, ABSOLUTELY horrible. If it weren't for a decent appetizer (chicken wings), I would have given one-star. The Tonkotsu ramen came out looking very appetizing in a huge bowl and loads of toppings (thick pork belly, bamboo shoots, half an egg, wood ear mushrooms, and some cabbage). However, one sip of the broth and I knew this was going to be a long meal. The broth tasted like salt thrown in some water with a little bit of some kind of protein. It was honestly one of, if not, the worst ramen broth I have ever had. The broth was also lukewarm and the noodles itself were definitely not authentic ramen noodles. The green tea mochi dessert at the end was good but not nearly enough to make up for the terrible ramen I had here. Would definitely not recommend their ramen here.

I came here for dinner with a group of 6 people for a friend's birthday. They have pretty good happy hour deals since there's discounts on appetizers, sushi rolls, and drinks. Their happy hour is everyday until 9:30pm. We ordered the pork gyoza (dumplings), takoyaki (octopus balls), ika karaage (fried squid), crispy Brussels sprouts, spicy tuna rolls, peking duck rolls, and double dragon rolls. The best dishes were the ika karaage and the double dragon roll. The ika karaage had Cheetos dust which was interesting. I would pass on the Brussels sprouts since it was soggy from the pickled onions and jalapeños. The peking duck rolls had soy paper which I'm not a fan of. Service was very friendly and fast. I would come back for happy hour.

Came for lunch on a Saturday looking for ramen and tsukemen. Seated quickly with two kids. Tonkotsu tsukemen made me sad; broth was thinner than the actual tonkotsu ramen. Noodles were so so. Kids got tonkotsu ramen, which was mediocre- broth not very creamy and was watery. Gyoza not well cooked. Wait staff pleasant and satisfactory. Good place for tourists coming to Rockefeller center eating generic "Japanese", would not come if actually want good ramen.

We came across this 2nd floor eatery when our original destination was unexpectedly closed. There are a bit of steps involved with reaching this location. The wooden staircase and decor reminded me of a posh tree house. The overall decor is wooden throughout, including the tables and backless chairs where you'll be sitting. Service is friendly and casual, and no one rushed us out as we lingered over our beers. When we arrived it was almost empty but it quickly filled up. The pace and quality of service remained the same. We tried the Tonkatsu ramen, the spicy kim chi ramen, one of the rice bowls, assorted sushi rolls and some beers. We left full, happy and unbothered by the bill. Bathrooms are adequate and out of the way. I'd return if in the area to see what else this place offers-- particularly on a weekend. Enjoy!

Ramen !! Service 5 stars Food 5 stars Prices 5 stars Environment 5 starts I think they have the best Ramen in Manhattan, even NYC. I been looking for the best ramen about 2 years ago and I find it. The portions are really good, they are so tasty and traditional, you can feel that you're in Asia. The restaurant is gorgeous and comfortable. The service is excellent and kind. The prices are good, i can even say for the service that they give, the food and the environment the prices are cheap. I order for the table Tonkutsu ramen: it was delicious. Veggie ramen: this was the most surprising one because was really good, and it wasn't spicy ( mistake that the restaurant make when the do something vegan/veggie they make it spicy ) Chicken ramen: really good too.

booked a restaurant week res for 2 and was seated immediately ($29 for appetizer, ramen/sushi, and mochi ice cream dessert, with tip and tax extra). The service was fast; our meal finished in about an hour. There was a coat rack and bucket for umbrellas. Would recommend for both a quick meal or a group outing!

The food here is nasty. The customer service is sub par. the ramen is undercooked and slimy, the chicken teriyaki was overcooked and hard to chew. charlie the manager and his staff were very rude. And tried to hold me against my will to pay for food I didn't even eat

Food best I've ever had. Japanese soda 10/10 S tier definitely recommend this. Presentation great on edamame. Edamame A tier. Don't get rainbow roll texture is very off- putting. Service fast ! Water great soooo much better than my home in Ridgefield

I don't know about other reviews, but this is literally the worst ramen I ever had in my life. The broth tastes nothing like "tonkotsu", but horrible salt that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.

Food was fresh! Sushiwasmade to order. Ramen is good. Small place on 2nd floor. Service was good. Would recommend it and definitely go back! We tried several ramen, and all were very good. We had kids with us, and they accommodated their simple ramen requests.
