Absolutely wonderful family owned and operated hotel seconds from the pier of Miyajima. Breakfast and dinner are fantastic. The son is the chef and we had great conversations about the history of the island and about locally sourced products for his dishes. Rooms are clean with a nice view. Very recommended and will def come back!

Absolutely gorgeous place and the nicest owner! Rooms are cozy and clean. Air conditioning is working perfectly even in this scolding hot summer. The food is amazing! We highly recommend to try both dinner and Japanese breakfast, it is wonderful! Overall this place is very peaceful and gorgeous. Try to stay at least for 2 nights! Thank you so much for your kindness and care, we will try to return next year!

Came here for dinner, not for an overnight stay. Dinner requires a booking the night before, you can show up and ask for a reservation and let them know what food you’d like to order so they can get the food fresh. I ordered the sashimi set and fried oysters. The sashimi was some of the best I’ve ever had. The fish was extremely fresh and the presentation was amazing. One of the employees (perhaps the owner) told us that the fish comes from a nearby island. Service was amazing, fast, and friendly. They also had many vegetarian options. Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a special dinner.

My friend and I only came to eat and not stay. We tried the muslim-friendly fried oysters, and while I couldn't compare the taste to the "normal" one, I knew it was worth the price. The guy who served us (which I assumed was the owner) was super kind. He offered us a space to pray, with prayer mats and a qibla compass ready. The place is just across the ferry terminal so you don't have to worry about missing the boat back. Overall highly recommended for fellow muslim travelers.

Yamaichi Bekkan is a small, family-run ryokan near the Miyajima Ferry Terminal, within 2 minutes walk. You will receive warm hospitality and we had such a huge dinner we could not eat it all. The location is ideal for exploring Miyajima, and both Japanese and Western-style rooms are available, with comfortable bedding and clean facilities. They can accommodate various dietary needs. However, the property is very dated. Advance booking is recommended.

Stayed here for a night and would definitely recommend it. It has a tradition ryokan feel with tatami floors and everything. The rooms are clean and spacious despite not being massive. The two ladies that work here are absolutely lovely and the extremely kind and are a huge part of this place feeling so homely. The included dinner if you stay here is also delicious with several courses. There was fish, soup, meat and everything you could have thought of. The food was legitimately so delicious. I would highly recommend staying here if you are coming to Miyajima!

I haven't stayed overnight here, but this is one of my go-to places for vegan food on Miyajima. Located right in front of the ferry port it is super convenient and eating here is always a delight. On my last visit I enjoyed their vegan tempura set lunch which was DELICIOUS and I definitely want to return to try their seasonal vegan sushi plate soon. As well as vegan meals, Yamaichi Bekkan can also accommodate Halal and Gluten Free diners, making it THE place for people of all dietary needs to come together over a communal meal. I am sure their full vegan kaiseki course meals and breakfasts are also a treat and I hope to stay overnight here one one day to give them a try. As the reviewer below mentioned, this a popular place so reserving in advance is recommended if possible- or drop by a when you arrive on the island and try to reserve a table for lunch.

Located right at the entrance to Miyajima, this ryokan truly lives up to its welcoming reputation—you’ll feel like you’re returning to your second home whether you stop by at the beginning or end of your trip. While staying overnight is highly recommended, their lunch service is open to non-guests, and when it comes to catering to vegans and halal diners, this place is second to none on Miyajima, earning an outstanding reputation. We tried their popular vegan vegetable tempura set meal, and it did not disappoint! The crispy, locally sourced vegetables were perfectly fried and paired beautifully with the vegan-friendly tempura dipping broth. Their halal options are just as impressive, offering halal-certified steak and anago (grilled conger eel) rice bowls, making this a truly inclusive place for visitors from all over the world. The staff are always incredibly kind and welcoming, ensuring that every visit is a memorable one. Since lunch service can get quite busy, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. If you haven’t booked ahead, a good tip is to stop by the restaurant when you arrive on the island and check for available time slots—you can reserve your meal on the spot to secure a table later. This place is an absolute must-visit for those looking for a warm, accommodating dining experience on Miyajima! 🌱⛩️✨
