"An easily reachable national park featuring the island's tallest dormant volcano, Qixing, along with hot springs and sulfurous fumaroles; celebrated as the world's first Urban Quiet Park in 2020, it is a seasonal draw—late winter for camellias and plum blossoms, and spring for cherry trees, azaleas and hydrangeas." - Mae Hamilton

"Yangmingshan National Park, located just north of Taipei, is set to become the world's first official Urban Quiet Park on June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day. It is recognized for its preservation of quiet amidst urban settings, featuring rare aquatic plants, chirping frogs, and endemic Formosan blue magpies. The park spans 43 square miles of mountainous terrain and includes famous hot springs, forests with hiking trails, and subtropical climatic zones. It provides a peaceful retreat with sounds of nature dominating the soundscape, maintaining a maximum background noise level of 45 dBA. The park is open 24 hours and can be reached by bus from downtown Taipei in less than two hours or by taxi in roughly one hour. The park will also feature an Urban Quiet Trail leading to Menghuan Lake, an ecological conservation zone known for the rare Taiwanese isoetes, an aquatic fern."
