The park spans 43 square miles of mountainous terrain and includes famous hot springs, forests with hiking trails, and subtropical climatic zones. It provides a peaceful retreat with sounds of nature dominating the soundscape, maintaining a maximum background noise level of 45 dBA. The park is open 24 hours and can be reached by bus from downtown Taipei in less than two hours or by taxi in roughly one hour.
