Yellow Billy Restaurant

Absolutely spectacular food, unusual and beautifully presented. Loved all dishes but particularly the Murray cod and kangaroo tartare. Staff were lovely but it was a bit confusing with so many different staff attending and would love to have heard more about the dishes and chef. I would also love to see a bit more love on the kids menu in future - the fish and chips was fine but something more homemade would be wonderful. Overall a wonderful experience - thank you.

Fantastic experience, randomly recommended by friends, wasn’t expecting a such high service and good quality with a middle of nowhere. Perfect food and wine pairing is amazing. Staff is sooo nice, I completely enjoy my dishes so is my partner. Highly recommended.

The venue is decorated with exquisite taste. The outdoor area is beautiful with plenty of seating options with views over the garden. The service was attentive and efficient. I liked the fact that they didn't rush on removing the plates once we finished which is something common in Australian restaurants. The dishes are creatively cooked. I especially liked the fusion of Indian species. I would highlight the ribs and cod as they were well prepared and flavoursome. There were some inconsistencies with the taste of some dishes. For example, the octopus needed a bit of salt as the acidity of the tomato was overpowering its taste, the zucchini flowers were a bit tasteless and the focaccia was too soft. Overall, it was a great experience and I will come back 🙂

Wow ! Amazing quality ! Everything we ordered was amazing I couldn't even have time to take a photo of the octopus or the pork rillete entrees as I ate it so fast ! Randomly drove by and decided to give it a try was a bit hungry... braised short ribs melted in my mouth !

Lunch today at Yellow Billy was outstanding. Fantastic service from all the staff, attentive and knowledgeable. Choose to share 3 entrees and 3 mains with my two co-diners, which also came with complimentary olives and house made focaccia. Could not fault a single dish, all stars in their own right. Beautifully cooked and presented, without being pretentious. The newly added Kangaroo Tartar was the stand out, show casing some stunning native ingredients. Truely a credit to the Hunter Valley dining scene!

My wife and I had a meal here, 3 courses with sides. We arrived with the option to be outside or inside, we chose outside for half the meals but then had to go inside due to the mosquitoes. We had zucchini flowers with white bait and octopus with amazing Togarashi. The tomato vinaigrette was a bit too much, but nice overall. The wait for mains was a bit long, 40 mins. Mains we had the Hapuka(fish) and the lamb forequarter chop both really good. Followed up with an Affogato and cheese and crackers. The staff Aaron, Yasmine, Sam and Courtney were all helpful. Thanks for a nice night with my wife.

We are regular Pigs Peake wine tasters and have said every time we come that we need to visit Yellow Billy and we finally have and im sad we havent tried it sooner! We decided on the banquet (for 2) and have no regrets. Everything was delicious especially the oysters and the mahi mahi fish and ended with possibley the best dessert I've ever had. The staff were lovely and helpful and the atmosphere was beautiful. We went mid week at lunch time so it wasn't too busy. We will be returning and reccomending to any friends who visit the area and want to see what the Hunter Valley has to offer.

Absolutely fantastic. The food from starter to dessert is as good as you'll experience. The flavours and variety are second to none. The service is 5 star and the atmosphere was perfect. We'll definitely be back and recommend to anyone in the Hunter looking for a quality dining experience.
