Yellow Haven Lodge

We used to love Yellow Haven and came here often. The views are beautiful and it’s a nice place to meet your friends or use the pool. The staff is always helpful and friendly. However the owner has recently implemented some rules that made us not come back very often anymore. There is now a charge of 30k if you bring your laptop for work and you are not allowed to come for just drinks, you are forced to order food. That said, the food is not great and the menue hasn’t changed in at least 5 years. We understand that a business needs to survive but to make rules of what needs to be consumed and then not make food that can be enjoyed and to charge a 30k work fee if the electricity is off half the time and the wifi is never working is very uninviting. Quite the opposite of Ugandan hospitality. It’s sad as it’s one of the few spaces in Bunga where you can meet in a relaxed setting and don’t have to travel far. We hope this will be improved in the future.

Yellow Haven Lodge is is a wonderful place to stay. it is a rustic lodge feel and is spotlessly clean, great hot showers and a view of Lake Victoria Inlet that is amazing. It becomes a ritual to get up early and go to the property edge to watch the sunrise. It’s a Zen moment of revitalization every morning. There is very little noise, unless the Neighbors,, which are farmers. Most noise is from the array of birds and frogs that live on the property. The pool is clean and inviting. The entire property is stunning, between the view of the lake and the landscaping. many just hang out there and relax. The large promotes this vibe. The food is delicious and the portions are way too large. The bar is stocked. All staff are so helpful and make you really feel like family. It was very hard to say goodbye. Joan the Owner, will do anything to make her guess feel welcome and help arrange fabulous day trips. This is a must stay hotel.

I stayed at Yellow Haven for 12 nights in Sept 2025 and had the most lovely stay. I highly recommend it for both accommodations and for their restaurant. The food is wonderful; it was hard choosing what to eat each day because there were so many great and diverse options. The pool and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous and are a perfect place to spend a relaxing day by the water. All the staff and the owner, Joan, were so accommodating and friendly and made the place feel like home during my time away. I stayed in the Ross Turaco room which had the most perfect view, with the sunset rising square over the lake each morning. It was very spacious with a small kitchenette and a loft style bedroom, which I really enjoyed. I will definitely be staying at Yellow Haven again on my next visit to Kampala.

Great and quiet location near Kampala, good food and friendly staff. But the rooms - 120$ a night - are really not up to standards. I found mine with ants, stained bedcovers. Cold water. Small portable plastic toilet. Towels and sheets were very humid. For that price, they need to do better. In the "Cave" bedroom, it was raining inside of the room! Bit crazy for that price point. The swimming pool is great, and the views as well.

Came here for dinner, and saw the sunset. So beautiful. The hotel is by the lake enclosed by nature. Very friendly staff. No one bat an eyelid bringing my dog here. They are so welcoming. Food was ok- nothing fancy. I ordered fish and chips. It was soggy. Friend ordered sweet and sour fish- ok. Outdoors place nice… food not worth it!

We loved our stay at Yellow Haven! This was our first accommodation on our trip around Uganda, but made a lasting memory. Right on the banks of Lake Victoria, we spotted many birds during our stay. Our room was very spacious and clean. The food was great and the hosts and staff were very helpful. Great to see how the mixture of Dutch, Irish and Ugandan flavours just work! This is a great base if you are looking to explore Kampala - boda boda's can get you all around the city with ease from here. After the hustle and bustle of the city it's just awesome to have some lakeside sundowners and relax here. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Yellow Haven, hosting a project team from a variety of African and European countries. The space is quiet and has lots of little spaces around to meet or relax. The staff are all excellent, friendly and very accommodating. The conference room is very nice and perfect for a small group of 15-20 people. Even the cat is cool. I would highly recommend!

I was in Kampala, when we were at our vacation with my family. We were staying in Yellow Heaven Lodge which was listed with in the hotels guide as their best rooms for vacation and business travelers. The room overlooked more comfortable and good for relaxing The maids ensured that my room was immaculate on daily besis and the receptionists were very friendly and also extremely helpful. The was very comfortable in every way . The pool was true to the photographs upon the hotels website , large, clean and warm too, it was a great way to start the morning!!! I was impressed by all of the stuff with in the hotel, even when I asked if they could organize hiring tuxedo for the evening they were able to arrange. Even though the shampoo and the conditioner in the bathroom wasn't great the overall standard of the hotel and the exceptional service from the staff was second to none I will certainly be staying there again!!!!
