After lunch cruise as part of day tour from Darwin on Sat 26/7/25 week ago. Cruise is about 1.5 hrs. The Skipper cum guide was excellent (did not get his name, sorry!) - gently swinging the boat around, so both sides got a turn to view the billabong's star attractions. Midway, he switched off the engines & allowed us to listen to the sounds of saltmarsh which was contemplative & tranquil. He was amusing, knowledgeable & imparted enough info without overwhelming. Apart from the Crocs, the birdlife is numerous. Watch the cutesy flitting of the pink crested Jacana & his little ones on the lilly pads, blue kingfisher darting in & out of the water, Darters drying their wings, tons of whistling ducks, elegant Jabirus, multitude of herons & some birds of prey flying overhead. Feral brumbies & introduced species also call this home & cannot be totally eradicated unfortunately. Just wished that I could stay longer to do both the sunrise & sunset cruise. There's plenty of cold water onboard to keep hydrated - stiflingly hot & humid. Spray/slather on your insect repellant before getting on. Master your mobile cam slow mo, zoom & shutter speed to get best shots. I struggled with mine but no matter, I enjoyed just observiing & being in the moment Loved it..✨️✨️

Yellow Water Cruises offers a fantastic experience! The tour guide provided a thorough explanation of the area, making the journey both informative and enjoyable. We spotted a few local birds and crocodiles along the way. The early morning cruise was especially magical, as the quiet surroundings allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the sounds of nature. Highly recommended!

We went on the 9am cruise with Dennis. We had an amazing boat trip, lots of bird life, lots of crocodiles and Dennis was super informative and funny. Very happy to have gone on this experience, it was definitely our highlight of Kakadu.

Very nice 6:45 sunrise tour. We did it during wet season meaning more water so harder to see crocodiles as they spread, we saw 2 crocodiles plus nice birds, eagles, turtle and very nice views of the wet land. The boat driver also said nice stories. The only aspect to improve is the direction to get to the boat. The email mentioned the bus station in front of the hotel which is true for dry season but incorrect for WET season, we were 2 cars waiting and needing to go to the hotel store to get the correct instruction that included a 5+ min walk. At least we were not late and did catch the boat.

A wetland wildlife dream for all nature lovers. We did the sunrise cruise getting fantastic views of the rising sun, massive crocodiles and a variety of birds. I could spend all day on the waters

Dennis is the ultimate tourguide, so knowledgeable, friendly and has the best stories and jokes. We did this cruise in the mid afternoon with Dennis in 2021, and came back to do the sunrise cruise this morning. Beyond beautiful, so many crocs, birds and flora to see.

4.30pm cruise from Cooinda Lodge. Truly amazing experience, the light was beautiful at that time of day. Our guide Adam was knowledgeable and passionate but unfortunately spoke non-stop through the microphone for the entire cruise, making it feel more like a city bus tour than a nature cruise. A few moments of silence would have allowed us to feel fully immersed in nature.

Sights were amazing but sadly we had small children on board which made it near impossible to here the guide and impossible to relax and enjoy.

Yelp
Before the dawn cruise I was sure that I would come away thinking this cruise was expensive. After the cruise I would say no such thing. The team are absolutely professional with an Aussie humour thrown in that makes you feel at ease immediately. Our guide Mark was exceptionally knowledgeable and tailored the cruise to suit the conditions of the day; meaning changing on-the-fly to maximise the best sights of the Fauna and flora of the day. The shear number of species we saw, and how incredibly close they were without fear of the water craft was fantastic; and all the while Mark was providing gentle and insightful commentary about the fauna and flora, the region, history and aboriginal culture. I would highly recommend the team at Yellow Atwater's Cruises.
