"Pet the Sleeping Grizzly If you're en route to Yellowstone via Gardiner, chances are that you'll zip past the Yellowstone Grill's cute little patio, and wonder to yourself when you'll see another like it - after several long hours in the car, you'll wish you had stopped for a drink, a bite to eat, and a selfie with the sleeping grizzly. The Yellowstone Grill's Western Breakfast is delicious, and perfect prep for a long day in the park."

Really tasty and fresh breakfasts! The staff were super sweet and welcoming. They also have a kids’ menu, which is a big plus if you’re coming with little ones. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed — just a lovely place to start the day.

Excellent place for a good breakfast . Came here 2 days in a row during our 2 night stopover and loved the country omellete and hash browns. They have real good brewed coffee espressos, cappucinnos and lattes. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings. Great place to fill up before starting your Yellowstone national park adventure.

The Yellowstone Grill is conveniently located on the main street leading into Gardiner, Montana coming from the north. When I walked in, the smell of coffee and cinnamon welcomed me. Inside, the atmosphere is open and airy with plenty of natural light filtering through the windows. I planned to keep breakfast simple however, there was a pan of fresh, warm cinnamon rolls on the counter. Caving in to the mouthwatering aromas, I ordered a fresh cinnamon roll and brewed coffee (although they offer many popular coffee house options). I also ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, and a sausage patty served on a croissant. Taking my coffee and caramel cinnamon cinnamon roll to my table. I noted the sea salt grinder on the table and sprinkled some on the hot melted caramel on top of my cinnamon roll for a sea salted caramel taste. This was sublime! I enjoyed my coffee, perfectly brewed, and cinnamon roll thoroughly. A pleasant young lady brought me my sandwich, still steaming from the grill. The croissant was buttery and flaky, the egg, cheese, and sausage hot and full of flavor. The menu boasts pancakes, omelets, biscuits and gravy, fresh hash browns, and freshly baked pastries. The staff are friendly and polite. This isn’t what I expect from a “tourist town” but Montana definitely sets the bar high. Well done, everyone!

Google
A really good place for breakfast! Stopped in with my group for a bite of breakfast — we had pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and coffee. The pancakes are massive! They are really tasty too — fluffy and good flavor. The biscuits and gravy were also really good. The biscuit was soft, even though it has been halved and grilled a bit. The gravy was really good. Our staff member recommended it and she wasn’t wrong! The hash browns served with the biscuits and gravy were really so good — flavorful and better than I expected! The drip coffee was solid with free refills while in store. Definitely would recommend!

Google
Cute cafe with great food and super friendly staff! Pancakes are huge and thick. Eggs were cooked perfectly (although a basted egg is not comparable to a poached egg like they said. More like something between an over easy and a medium fried egg). We would definitely eat here again if we were staying longer.

We were staying right around the corner of the Yellowstone Grill so it was just a short walk. It’s a really great breakfast and lunch place - really warm and welcoming inside and you just place your order and they bring it to you. Wonderful pastries and bakery choices too! We sat outside as they have several outdoor tables. The omelette Mediterranean was delicious as was the custom coffee and ginger tea. Such a cute place! Highly recommend! Open daily except Mondays 7-11:30am

If you need to get energized in the morning before you go visit Yellowstone, then you have to come here to get some drinks and breakfast. Love their eggs and hash browns. Hash browns seems like fresh hash browns or they don't overcook it because you are actually biting into potatoes texture. Big portion, chill atmosphere and you can see the mountains through their roll down garage window. Service is fast. Pancake the huge. Size of the plate but the one I have seems like it is not cook all the way because the middle is sticky and gooey. Everything else is good though

Google
Great little breakfast place with a charming atmosphere. We went here twice while in town. The huevos rancheros and eggs benedict were scrumptious. The pancakes will propel you right up Bunsen Peak. Very friendly staff who gave us helpful tips for using bear spray.

Yelp
Came in for breakfast on the last morning of our stay (9/5/24) and wished we'd found this sooner! Really excellent breakfast, thoughtful service and a fun and relaxed ambiance. Biscuits and gravy brought a tear to our eyes - just like my husband's Mom used to make. And the bonus was that we'd been looking for a tee shirt that said "Gardiner MT" instead of Yellowstone, since we'd had such a pleasant stay there. They had a nice Yellowstone Grill tee in my husband's size that says Gardiner MT too. It was such a hit that we called a week later to ask if they could please ship us another one - Schalene got my Venmo info, packed up the shirt and we're now proudly advertising the Yellowstone Grill all over San Jose CA.

Yelp
I couldn't find a yelptastic page for this business so had to add one specifically to give them a 5 star rating! They closed at 1130 and still let us order at 1120, I felt so bad but the ladies were so nice about it since we didn't know! I had breakfast tacos with hash browns, eggs, your choice of meat, cheese (no salsa for me). They were EXCELLENT. I chose andouille sausage for meat it was a bit spicy but so good! Hubs liked his scramble as well but I think it was a little small for my big man. Anyways, probably going here tomorrow before we leave town. The town of Gardiner is super cute and this place fits that perfectly. Young ladies working super nice and considerate even asking husband if he wanted more coffee even though they were technically closed. We will be back whenever we get lucky enough to return to the area. Ok EDIT: when I came back to see if this business had been added, I was directed to the apparent already there Yelp page! ... however it was not searchable did not come up in search bar with many different attempts. and I'm wondering if people report businesses "permanently closed" when really they are only closed for the season... which is pretty much every business in the winter around Yellowstone ... if you see the most recent review after mine is over 2 years ago. Confused, is there a way to avoid this I wonder?

Yelp
What a great breakfast spot in Gardiner. You place your order at the counter and find your seat. Their Lattes are very delicious and come in cute cups! We got the Old Faithful breakfast (traditional) and Breakfast tacos with sausage. All were excellent at a fair price. My husband said the eggs were cooked perfectly. Hashbrowns were a little oilier than I would like.
google avatar

Yelp
We had breakfast there and the skillet breakfast was delicious and their biscuits are really good to.

Yelp
Breakfast here is solid. I had the Yellowstone Scramble which kept me fueled for a day at Lamar Valley. It gets busy and there's a line, so come early.

Yelp
For years the best breakfast in Gardiner has been found at the Yellowstone Grill. We have been frequenting this restaurant for years during our visits to YNP and Gardiner. We are so glad to see it has reopened.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly staff fast service great food! The portions were big and the coffee delicious
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in for breakfast and got your typical breakfast burritos. Hashbrowns were good. Definitely has a perfect small town vibe. I highly recommend stopping here before hitting the park.

Yelp
Very cool funky little joint. The hash was amazing! The biscuits looked equally good, and will be on my must order list, the next time we're in town.

Sue B.

Yelp
A beehive of activity with good food ,ample seating with a quaint modern vibe. Order at counter , get a number and food is brought to your table. We enjoyed our meal.

Yelp
They do breakfast and it was fantastic. If you're in Gardiner do not leave without getting a bite and some coffee here!

Brady M.

Yelp
Stopped by this AM at 7:20. Facebook says they are open. No signs on the door. Nothing. Guess they are now closed for season. Communication could have been much better.

Alysha S.

Yelp
Food was okay, they were out of multiple items on the already small menu and finding a spot to sit was near impossible. I suppose that's to be expected in Yellowstone NP in July.

Andre B.

Yelp
Service was great, food was delicious, lots of coffees and teas. Def stop in for breakfast!! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Great little place to have breakfast before heading into the namesake park. The place has a definite hipster vibe to it with food made from local ingredients and with excellent taste. I can't say that there is a huge level of sophistication to the dishes one might expect from hip places in New York but I was very impressed by the quality of the fare even if it wasn't hipster sophisticated. Eggs local and grown in the best traditions, great baked goods and fresh pastries. I would love to visit again.

Yelp
This place was recommended to me by a friend during my trip to Yellowstone. We were staying in Gardiner and quickly found that the options for sit down meals there are limited (especially since they recently had a fire that burned down 4 other businesses- very sad!). We went here around 10a on a Wednesday before we made our way from Yellowstone to Glacier. This is a great breakfast spot! I was very impressed with all of the options they had. They also had outdoor seating which is a plus during COVID times. This is a place where you place your order at the register, get a number to place on your table and then your food is brought out (typically within 10-15 minutes). I knew by looking at the menu that I wanted the "Old Faithful." Perfect breakfast dish- eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. YUM! Our meal came out soon and it was really good! I really enjoyed the meal and would go back again. Only thing that makes this place lose a star for me is the service. Once your food is brought out, you pretty much have to flag someone down in order to get anything additional. At one point, we needed extra napkins, ketchup and hot sauce and I gave up on flagging someone down - so I went inside the restaurant and grabbed a ketchup bottle left on another vacant table. So just wish the staff would check back in every so often. Also, make sure you get one of the frosted cookies that are up front near the register. They are shaped like the state of Montana and they are FANTASTIC! My sister and I split one and we regretted not getting one each on our own because they were so good. Too good to share! Definitely recommend this place and would go back. Has to be one of the best options for breakfast on the Gardiner side of Yellowstone.

Yelp
Oh My Gosh... the food here is amazing!! Do not miss this place if you are in the area. Don't let the wait scare you away. It is SO WORTH IT!!. My only regret was I could get BLT eat here one day due to travel arrangements. The line will take you to the register where you order. The management asks that you do not take a table until order has been placed. It looks impossible but everyone gets a seat before their order is ready. As you can see from the menu pictures, there is something for everyone. I recommend checking out the menu while you wait in line so you know what to order when you reach the register. Also, look around and see what others are having. However that will make your choice harder because it all looks fabulous. Check out the specialty bakery items near the register. They are wonderful!! This is the perfect time to pick up a snack for later when in the park. Street parking can be troublesome but keep looking. Also, as we drive down a back alley we saw elk in two different yards.

Yelp
The great thing about Yellowstone Grill is that they serve breakfast straight up. We were there in September and I got some really good eggs over easy and potatoes. Sounds simple, I know. But if you look at my recent reviews of places in Jackson Hole and New York that serve "breakfast" you will see that it's nigh unto impossible to actually get eggs over easy with hash browns for breakfast. Seriously. This place is really good. Eat here!!
google avatar

Luisa B.

Yelp
Excellent place to stop for breakfast. It's small but you are good to place your order and wait for a table. Takes about 20 minutes to get food brought to you but well worth the wait. I had eggs Benedict and it was excellent. My husband had huevos rancheros and it was outstanding. We plan to make this our breakfast stop. Lots of great choices. Unlimited coffee.
google avatar

Zurdar G.

Yelp
It's a bit of a wait around 8:00 or So. Be patient. We ordered first and then sat down. Instead of grabbing seats before other people ordered. We got the mocha coffee and 2 Reuben omelettes which had fresh corn beef hash sauerkraut cheese with hash brown and buttered toast. So good. Lady that took our order was friendly and the only lady wearing a mask was extremely friendly. One girl wasn't so nice she looked miserable when serving our coffee. I get it though. Food service ain't for everyone. Ample seating inside and outside. Music . And some apparel and trinkets for sale. I recommend this small place for breakfast in this small town. A few of the guests aren't so friendly but I understand that's not the restaurant's fault. Just be ready as an outsider coming in, especially if you look "different".

Yelp
The crowd when we got here was encouraging. Good food, a lot of food and friendly service. We are leaving to walk these delicious calories off in Yellowstone.
google avatar

Alonda M.

Yelp
Was very pleasantly surprised that the breakfast tacos were very loaded! Super delicious and great coffee. The tea is loose leaf and not from the bag, so it's the real deal! Everything tastes homemade and fresh! I love the atmosphere and how fresh everything is. A big plus is that it was close to out hotel!

Yelp
Great eatery with lots of local or home made goods. The English muffins (they are square) and the cinnamon buns were a treat. Had the old faithful breakfast with over easy eggs cooked right and good sausage. Portions were good as was the mocha. Would recommend and come back. Too bad they were not open on Monday.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Had breakfast there last week and it was wonderful. Be sure to check their hours as they were limited and not open 7 days a week. There was a wait but the food was worth it.
google avatar

Khaled A.

Yelp
I have to say this place has a happy vibe. We visited on a Saturday around 7:10am (opens at 7am) and the waitresses were very welcoming. It's a counter service so grab a menu and head to the counter to place your order. I went with the Florentine benedicts for the main dish. I like the hollandaise sauce and really enjoyed the hash brown given they were a bit crispy just the way I like them. Overall the benedict was good but not one of the best I tasted. My wife went with the mediterranean omelette which she also enjoyed. The portions are pretty large which explain why we couldn't finish the blueberry pancakes which was also huge!!! Overall a must if to visit this place for breakfast if you are staying in Gardiner.

Yelp
We ate twice here when we stayed in Gardiner a month ago. The first time, we had lunch. I think it was okay. I don't remember what we ordered (burgers?) so it didn't make a lasting impression. The next day I went to grab some breakfast to go. It was packed! I think it was because there were not too many places open for breakfast. Even though there were tables inside and outside, all the tables were occupied and I did observe a few tempers (from other customers) flare up. We got the old faithful breakfast. It was filling.

Shikha G.

Yelp
If you are in gardiner, MT, entering YellowstoneNationalPark or existing it and you want to grab a quick bite with a cool ambience and variety of menu along with a Quick cultural exhibition then this is the place to be . We happened to found this place as we were starving and all the other places were not open, but this place turned out to be the best breakfast choice . I had ordered veggie taco (as I am a vegetarian) , my husband and ordered Mediterranean omelette and my daughter had ordered tower of buttermilk pancakes . All the dishes were made out of fresh ingredients and portion size was huge so it was a perfect king size breakfast. My breakfast taco was so flavorful that I couldn't have asked for anything else . Quick service and value for money was an extra bonus . So this place gets a five star from me . Do visit this place

Yelp
Very friendly service. Food was good. Little relaxed-atmosphere cafe with coffee, beer/wine, pastries, burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. patio tables outside have view of the mountains

Yelp
Morning/noon hours only Ate breakfast here, everything lived up to expectation for breakfast. Solid breakfast/coffee if you're stopping by the area.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast...line moves fast and food comes out quickly! Best breakfast and they offer bagged lunches to take into Yellowstone.

Yelp
Always try to stop in for breakfast when in Gardiner. The hot mess is a favorite. Enough for sharing.

Yelp
Went there on our last day before starting our drive back to California. We got there at 8:40 am and already there was a line. It was worth it. The food was really good. All 5 of us chose different breakfast items and we were all very happy. Only thing I do suggest is that you look over menu while waiting. You have time to decide BEFORE you get to the register to order. There were quite a few people who would get there without knowing what to get. I could see this frustrated other customers waiting. I don't blame them. That was the only downfall I saw but it had nothing to do with the staff. Staff was amazing!!! Very friendly and courteous.

Allyson C.

Yelp
The bacon is thick cut and delicious! Eggs were tasty and freshly made. Tower of pancakes were fluffy and huge! We couldn't finish it all. A nice gentleman was playing live music on the piano which added to ambiance. Can be a quick bite or a relaxed breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
Review is for lunch. Breakfast ends at 11:30 am. Breakfast looked good but not so much for lunch. Acceptable chipotle bbq pull pork burrito. Bbq sauce was a tad on the sweet side. I couldn't taste the chipotle. Cilantro rice and crispy slaw cabbage provided great texture in contrast to the tender pulled pork. 2 stars lost as the $10 salad looked liked packaged salad with canned chicken. Tortilla chips were stale. Service was fine and courteous. This place is definitely a breakfast place. Lunch felt like something a college student concoction
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
The prices were crazy. The pork carnitas was very inauthentic. I'm from San Antonio, what is up with those tiny portions? We left hungry but spent $53 on three breakfast meals and 3 subpar cups of coffee.
google avatar

Alecia M.

Yelp
Excellent food that is definitely worth the wait! I always like to try to eat at local places when traveling and the yellowstone grill did not disappoint. Food prices was great for what you get and flavor was incredible. It was busy so we had to wait awhile to get our food but it allowed us to plan out our day in the park. If you're looking for a quirky yet good place to eat in Gardiner, this is a great place to come.

Yelp
Sum up: Great food. Friendly helpful staff. A lot of variety. Food: The food was very good and casual. Very filling. The hollandaise sauce was fantastic, just the right amount of lemon. They also sell simple day lunch packs which are neat if you are going hiking. They have a large selection of hot sauces. Drinks: They have so many different types of coffees and teas, you have to check out their tea menu. Service: The service here is outstanding. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Especially the guy with shoulder length light brown hair and light eyes, he was eager to answer our questions but not pushy about ordering what he suggested.

Yelp
Just ate here. The food was decent, but the service could be better. I ordered the special, Country Omelette and received the ham and cheese Omelette. About 1/3 of the way through when I realized I received the wrong dish, my partner brought it to their attention. They acknowledged the order taker made a mistake, but didn't offer fix my order. Instead they brought some mushrooms which was one of the missing components to my omelette. They also offered a cinnamon bun, but that did not interest me.

Rhemi M.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place out, but ran into some issues. I do not eat pork and found that most of their menu items had a side of bacon or sausage. I asked if they had a substitute, and the only thing they had was an avocado for an extra $2. There was not a fresh fruit substitute, no vegetables, no hash browns.... First, I was disappointed that a healthy substitute costs so much extra. Second, I was surprised to see only 4 slices of avocado on my plate given that I paid extra for "an" avocado. Third, the eggs were not over medium, in fact they were slightly raw on the top, and the toast was not what I had ordered. I was disappointed.
google avatar

Cory N.

Yelp
Decent pricing for small portions. Fast, helpful service and a very clean room. We had the basics - bison sausage, fries, beer. I like that everything is locally sourced and the quality has been good at every Yellowstone Grill (I think we are at all of them in the 8 days in the park.)
google avatar

JP P.

Yelp
Do not pass this place by! They cook everything to order and make the breads in house! Amazing customer service! I had the old faithful breakfast with English muffin toast and homemade jam! Also, order a dirty chai pretty good... It gets pretty busy so try and stop in early. Get a cinnamon roll or baked good for the road! I will be going back!
google avatar

Locco U.

Yelp
Very nice place - kind cashier staff and nice food. We went there around 7:00 when it opens. It got soon very busy. Better early start. Because Yellowstone NP is busy and long driving inside the park, I wish earlier open like 6:00/6:30 including lunch sandwiches. Well, sure, overall Yellowstone area is a bit overpriced.

Lynn C.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast in a funky setting. Best blueberry pancakes and coffee EVER!!! Love the diverse menu and will come back for dinner, too!
google avatar

Bradley M.

Yelp
Breakfast before entering the park. Very good! Enjoyed the special of crab cake Benedict. Coffee was good and service attentive. Beautiful start to the day.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Probably the best breakfast option in town. Lots of options to choose from and friendly service. Plus they had tapatio as one of their hot sauce options which is always a good sign.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome staff! Great food, best restaurant in town hands down! Coffee was on point! Pancakes where delicious, crab cake Benedict was unique and delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy breakfast! Had the Huevos Rancheros, delicious. Latte was good, cinnamon rolls a bit dry, the caramel rolls looked better. Friendly help, fast service. Open at 7 am. Counter service with indoor seating.
