First, I love the staff here. They are professional, helpful and down to earth. Especially Lisa, the morning chef and Chris, our evening server. I didn't catch her name , but the server who is also the farmer who provided much of the fresh veggies, is a hoot! Now, the food and venue. This is a lodge and the dining room is small, mostly to support the patrons staying there. But it overlooks their property along the river. Beautiful. For a small fee paid in the office, you can join them for their breakfast buffet. Lisa made the most incredible cardamom rose doughnuts! I chose fluffy pancakes and their maple sausage. So good! After chatting with Lisa, we knew we had to come back for dinner. Theirs is a 5-star menu, snd one of the few where I could eat anything and be happy. We decided to try a lot of things on the appetizer menu. Chris said the chef is a wizard with soups and todays special was a cold asparagus soup. It was my favorite part of the meal! It was whipped to almost a pudding consistency - I know that sounds strange, but trust me, it was heaven! We tried the shaved beets with toast- the vinaigrette with pine nuts and cheese was so good! I had to try the mushroom pasta - I've never had such meaty mushrooms and I loved the variety they used. My husband had the fries, the duck tacos, and the trout appetizer. Yes, that was a lot! Then we ended with the green apple cobbler. The only item we might not try again was the trout- it was a little too bready for us. But dang - we were delighted overall. And they have a wonderful wine list. Sitting outside by the fire pit was a delight.
