Yeng Keng Hotel (燕京）

The Yeng Keng hotel is in the centre of Georgetown and gives east walking access to all parts of the town. An historic hotel dripping with culture. Some great areas in the hotel with interesting photographs. We stayed for 3 nights and the hotel was faultless throughout. Staff are very professional and friendly. Close to a lively nightlife scene so lots of restaurants and bars close by. Great area at front of hotel to sit and enjoy tea and coffee. Gates are closed on an evening to afford privacy and security. The building is set back from the street so it is remarkably serene. The room we had was large and had a big double bed alongside another single bed. Pool area was fine for a small hotel and lovely to cool down. Breakfast was good and had everything you would expect. Staff were great in there. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Had a very pleasant and nice stay in Yeng Keng. The Hotel and Room is very very clean, the service and responsiveness are top notch. The location is exactly at the heart of George town where everything you can imagine is close. I only gave the room 4 stars as do differentiate it from the 5 starts hotels. The only down side was the breakfast, not too many choices and no cheese (which is best for me). Anyone coming to George town should stay here !

Lovely hotel. Top location. Most places in George town in walking distance. Friendly team, very helpful and some of the best service we have experience in Malaysia. Pretty many free parking places are a big plus, so is the small but lovely pool. Breakfast is decent for a 3-star-hotel. Highly recommended.

The Yeng Keng Hotel is a gem among Penang's hotels and is very centrally located in the historic old town. It is the oldest hotel in Georgetown and has been completely renovated. It dates back to the old English colonial era 😜 and is stylishly furnished accordingly. You immediately feel at home upon entering. The service is excellent and even booking glitches are resolved immediately. Thank you again for that, Mr. Yevva.🙏🏻👍🏻 - We were able to stay in the Chullia Suite and this made our three-day stay for our silver wedding anniversary 100 percent perfect. The breakfast room, which is accessed via the small inner courtyard, is also very nice. The breakfast is buffet style, so there is plenty for everyone. We can recommend the hotel with a clear conscience and would be happy to come back.

We spent four nights at this charming boutique hotel while exploring Penang and Georgetown, and it was an absolute delight! The hotel exudes a lovely Malaysian charm, with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that made our stay feel extra special. The staff were incredible—warm, friendly, and always ready to assist with a smile. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, so we upgraded to a family room, which gave us plenty of space to relax and unwind. The hotel's location is perfect—just a short walk to Chulia Street with its vibrant selection of restaurants and bars. You can also easily stroll to Armenian Street and the jetty if you're up for some sightseeing. The hotel also offers a pool, though we didn’t use it due to the lack of shade, but everything else more than made up for it. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in the heart of Georgetown, It’s the perfect blend of comfort, charm, and convenience!

The location was great, very convenient and close to pubs and restaurants, the hotel also had some quirky charm, unfortunately for us that’s where the positives ended. The courtyard room was tiny, hardly any space for luggage and so small there isn’t space for a bedside table on the side nearest the window. One of the restaurant staff was pretty rude to us during our first breakfast, we came in at 10am for a 1030am finish, at 1034 we were abruptly asked if we were finished and that they were closed. It was unexpected and put paid to us adding any lunches or dinners to our bill. The included breakfast wasn’t great, besides the Roti it was pretty basic. This place feels a little more like a motel than a hotel and for the price point there are probably better options in Penang.

Very nice traditional boutique hotel. There’s a bit of noise in the courtyard rooms due to the restaurant next door and atmosphere on Chulia Street. Swimming pool is very nice on hot days. Perfect location to explore UNESCO downtown Georgetown! Beds are typically Malaysian (hard 😅)

At the Yang Keng Hotel in Georgetown, the stay Yeng Keng Hotel was absolutely delightful. The entire staff was super kind, friendly, always responsive, and very helpful. The room cleaning was good and the bathrooms were excellent. The location is extremely central, and the hotel also has security, so it’s highly recommended.We also received a room upgrade!!
